Good evening all,

Busy day at home.  Replaced a light fixture.  Fixed a swing.  Got the oil changed on the truck.  Took some scrap metal to the recycling place.   Watched Jane the Virgin.  Ordered license tags for vehicles and IRS forms.  Ordered a 2016 Lionel Price guide.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all from mild (40F) Southern Ohio,

Today was my last day at work.  I processed out signed all the papers and turned in all my badges keys pager and phone.  I'm going to miss a lot of folks from there.  They are going to set up a job fair in one of the contractor trailers Tuesday so I'll go out and pass out some resumes.  My exit package was generous so we'll do OK.  I will be helping more with getting kids to and from activities now.

I sold the Avalon this evening.  I got my asking price of $3000.  It is a fair price for both of us.  I'm going to misss that car.  Had it for 13 years and 207,000 miles and it never skipped a beat.  Still looks and drives great.

Bob- Be careful on using ether starting fluid on a diesel.  It can blow a hole in a piston.  I've heard if needed to use WD-40.  Restoring a bus would be quite a challenge if for no other reason than the sheer size of the project and the space needed for it.

Buckeye- You're going to see quite a bit of the country.  Company car?

Chief-There is a bug going around that really hangs on.  Don't get down with it.

KRM-Glad the grappler is working out. It looks awsome.

Good night and may God bless

Jim

Had not thought of that DougDG. So with that in mind you would have to live 1,190.25 years to get to 69 then. Surprise

I guess we have no choice so we are stuck with an extra day of winter. 64 degrees yesterday broke a 100 year record but normal returns tomorrow. Another club meet come saturday as the host had to juggle his schedule.

You guys should be able to do whatever you want today because this day don't exist most years so it should be a freebie day. Happy leap day.

So technically speaking had I been born on the 29th instead of earlier this month, today I would only be 17.25 y.o. instead of 69. Smile, Wink & Grin No thanks !

Hello all

'Nother quiet night on the mountain.

Chief you take care of yourself.

Good to hear Barry is doing better.

Kev - congrats on your successful project.

Someone on the MR forum turned me on to a Micro-Trains coupler kit for the bay window caboose I have, so the body shell is soon to become a caboose red rather than Rock Island white.

And I finally painted the hull bottom on the Mauretania model I have been working on. Now to come up w/ the correct funnel color and then I can finish assembling it.

I see Kev posted 5 hours ago.  Probably because no one could get the forum to come up.  Took 15 minutes for me.  Unbelievable.  Running billign again I guess.

Hope all OK.  Probably got pneumonia again.  Get winded walking a short distance.  Heart Dr. told me Thrusday my lungs sounded crackly.  That was a good indication.  Why not.  Highs in the mid 30's for a few days and then mid 60's for a few days.  Its 51 right now.

Got New Pot reminder loaded in my calendar for tomorrow night.

Oh, and I forgot one place I will be traveling to this year.... DALLAS, TEXAS!

Better plan Than I had Buckeye. Yes

Well I did my first grapple job with the new grapple. The 2YO grand-son and I went up to the north end of the lane and grabbed a 25’ tree stump that had fell last year that I had just pushed out of the way. It worked great. Picked it right up and we hauled it to Brain’s burn pile. Only problem was it was wider than the driveway clearance so I had to do some maneuvering to get it out into the clear to head up the lane to Brian’s. All in all I am happy.

Good morning guys,  49 already and heading to 60 with abundant sunshine. A great day to be on The North Bluff.  Cool

Buckeye, I got sick of the travel after doing it so much. How do you handle it?

SPJim, yes looks like you could build it up and then grind it down. That is what the guy from the body shop told me they do on the bumper covers.

MikeC.  I must of been thinking like you yesterday,  I got out the small rider and ran it for about 1/2 hour to charge up the battery. I will pull the deck this month and do the pre-season work on it.

Evening all!

It was a very nice day today. 60's and sunny. Worked in the garage with the door open.

Had a great dinner with neighbors at a new place (for us) tonight. Food and atmosphere were really nice. We'll go back.

SJ - one of my train buddies has that boxcar. You are going to enjoy it.

Another nice day on tap for tomorrow.

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Took the mower to have blades sharpened.   Picked up sticks in yard.   Watched West Bromwich Albion hang on for a 3-2 win against a fading Crystal Palace.  CP was once 3rd in the standings and now are 14th.  I hope everyone will have a good day.

Evening all from clear cool (high 30's) Southern Ohio,

Been real busy around her the past few days.  I was moved to dayshift for the remainer of last week and spent most of Friday going around saying goodby to the mechanics, operators, and supervisors that worked for me for the last 10 years.  What a great team we had.  They are the hard part of leaving work.  I'll miss them.  I process out Monday, the retirement, or interviews or whatever.  I am truly at peace with this.  Besides some time at home will feel different.

Gabriel my 13 year old grandson who lives with us got up at 4 am and I went to Columbus for the annual Catholic Men's Conference.  Wow the speakers were fantastic.  Gabriel really enjoyed himself and wants to go again next year.

KRM/Dennis I've heard of the plastic welding before but did not know you could do bumpers and the like.  I'll keep that in mind.  I guess it would be like where you build up a weld then grind it flush.

I'm beat time to vegatate

Good night and may God bless

Jim

Bright sun and 40s today, 50s tomorrow. Hopefully that will take care of the frozen slush. I preordered a Lionel PS1 boxcar with sounds. Should be a fun car with the ckickity clack and squeals.

Morning all!  Busy day today – Noah has his third birthday party so having a slew of folks over for that.  Plus should probably change my signature!  Bought some 16/5 and 16/4 cable this week so I can wire up my 022s and UTCs from the rough prototype control panel I’ve been working on.  Going to use the extra conductors to send track power to them for a little extra boost in those areas.  For the 022s I bought some of the fixed voltage plugs from TinMan3Rail that have an outside conductor that connects to the center rail when inserted – pretty clever idea.

The 2037 from RTC is coming along – Super O connectors now removed, everything lubed, smoke unit running like a champ.  Think I have an intermittent short in the wire connected to the collector (which would seem impossible to unsolder without ripping the whole thing apart) so am going to slide some shrink wrap over it and see what happens.

Hello all

Another quiet night on the mountain.

Dennis - glad you were able to find the part for your car

Trying out changing couplers on some of the N-scale stuff. Micro-trains has a lot of different options available so it will take some time to figure out what I need.

Running a Minitrix 0-6-0 right now on the test track. Doing fairly well for something that is that small and old enough to be made in West Germany.

Still need to get the power blocks figured out on the layout at home so I can run two trains.

Flipped thru all the bus manuals I have last night. Got some ideas for the problems we have on the '73 GM. The Flxible bus has a similiar engine except it's a V-8. Studied up a bit on the engine in the post-war Twin Coach. It's basically a straight six lying on it's side. Gene said they started it once on starting fluid. Hopefully we may be able to drive 5 buses over to the new facility.

Ordered some pedal pads for the Datsun off the bay. Apparently there is a lot of repro stuff coming out of Thailand. I don't know how good the quality it, but it is inexpensive and will be better than nothing which is on there now:)

Good evening all,

A nothing day at work brightened considerably when I opened my email at home.   My Norwegian soccer friend sent me an email saying she got the birthday card I sent her (which it got there on time and I had the right address).  She wished a happy birthday as well (three out of every 4 years our days are only 1 day apart), and then she told her fiancee had the same birthday as me!  I wrote her back and told her she has found the right person to spend her life with.   Lucas called again tonight and he is doing well.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evenin' All.

Long day today, all of today's stuff unpacked and put back where they belong. Kid's Club tomorrow so all of the stuff is packed, three trains plus back-up loco's, and staged in the garage. Up early to load the truck and hit the road.

Fife_No luck in finding the "perfect place" yet ? Check this one out in Ranch Santa Fe however it may somewhat restrict your train budget for awhile afterwards.  http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/2016/feb/23/del-dios-ranch-sale/#2   Smile, Wink & Grin

Was able to chat with folks from all over the country today, NH, Il, NC, Ky. That's really the best part of being there, especially making some kiddo smile and laugh.

Time to see what's in the fridge to eat, to tired to cook.

See y'all tomorrow nite.

V8Vega

Just saw on TV our unseasonable warm weather continues all week Sat. 79/49 Sun. 78/50 Mon. 80/50

I rear ended a pickup awhile ago with my Integra GSR and did get a hood from a junkyard but no front bumper (nose)

KRM told me where to get a new nose, I had no idea such a thing was available It arrived this afternoon, I’m glad I was home, I was kind of worried about how this would work as its a BIG box, its the whole front of my car. Only weighs 10 LBS as its all plastic. It came from Illinois. The FedX driver was real nice.

Both front fenders weren’t hurt and the rest of the car is fine.

The original bumper was scratched up enough that I was considering getting it painted before the wreck the rest of the car looks good. I have had the wrecked nose of and on twice so I know what to do. It's not a easy job.

V8, this is from another forum I am on that has to do with land and tractors. It is something I learned today. On the same lines as what you are doing.

I am glad I could help and looking for the best outcome for you.

Had a chance to do something new today. I pitched a large log into the back of the Gator CX when it was below O and cracked the plastic bed. So I went into town to the body shop and asked what kind of glue they use on car bumper covers because this plastic looks to be the same or very close.. The guy said we don't we solder them up. Solder them up I asked??? He said sure. He said if it is black plastic it is easy, if it is yellow plastic your out of luck. So I asked him how he does it. He said just get a old solder iron with the big blade and heat it up and melt it into the crack and weld a bead of extra plastic in as you go along. I said sounds good I have one of those solder irons, do they sell the plastic filler because I don't have any extra plastic to fill it with. He said hold on and he went and got a old broken inner plastic fender well and said just cut some strips out of this and give it a try. It works great and I learned something new today

Doug in Sandy Eggo, sorry but I did not see your E mail.  May have deleted it in error.

Pretty quiet hear now.  Warm weather is back with us and no rain in sight.  If we don't get some rain next month it will probably be over until next winter.  I wonder if I can get a refund for my flood insurance that we were stampeded into buying because of so called El Nino headed our way.

We have a brand new light rail line that is scheduled to open on March 5th.  Also a new line from L.A. to Santa Monica will open in May.  Then I will be able to ride all the way from my town to the Pacific Ocean on an electric railway.  The new Gold line near us follows the right of way of the old Santa Fe Railway.  I used to see the Super Chief on this same line.

Have a good weekend all,

Ray
