Good evening all,

A Merry Christmas to all.  Special thoughts and prayers to Tinplatacis.  Still warm here.  Went to Mass at 7 PM tonight and had my aunt over to our place for a while.  She enjoyed seeing all the Christmas decorations.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

I probably won't be on too much for a little bit. My other half might be dying. We will find out soon (hopefully) if it actually is terminal.

Taking this opportunity on Christmas Eve to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Wondering son came home last night and brought a beautiful red poinsettia and a box of goodies from Hickory Farms sent over by his fiance.  Have to try and find something for her today.  Have been unable to do much being tied down with my care giving duties but the family understands.  Christmas will be sort of a blank this year but we are doing our best.  Going to one of the vigil masses early tonight so I will be free to fullfill obligation tomorrow at chapel. Then I won't have to attend two functions back to back on Christmas day.  We are hosting dinner for the family with spiral cut ham and lots of other stuff.  I bought the least labor intensive stuff I could get.

I miss my trains this time of year but they will still be there if/when I get more time next year.

Merry Christmas,

Ray

Happy Christmas Eve all!

Final preparations for tonight's dinner underway. Son is grilling steaks. Weather cooperating. Mid-70's today, sunny! Rain Sat/Sun, maybe 2+ in, plunging temps.

Whaaaat? Snow for Monday? Well it's north Texas.

Like a lot of our Country, we are expecting record warm temparatures today and tomorrow. Feels funny here in the north country without a White Christmas. First time in many, many years.

Christmas gifts wrapped and ready. Elizabeth's son and his wife are coming this evening for a stay-over. She is delighted as this is the first time in many Christmases that he has been able to pull this off. Nice when family can be together.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve.

Mele kamikimaka boys Paradise.  A damp 71, se-ven-tee waaaannnnn, in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Nothing to be done today.  Had grandson (unscheduled) yesterday, so I dug out my old GI Joes from attic, for a little nostalgic pick-me-up.  He played on the floor with them all day.

I too am wundering about the Chief's whereabouts....

Evening all from wet Southern Ohio

Crazy warm today high 60's.  Helped with a funeral this morning then went to the movies with youngest daughter and boyfriend and the kids. We watched the Star Wars movie again. It was good even the second time.

The Marx set came and it is in really nice shape. The loco is running but I need to secure one of the drive wheels to the axle. Any suggestions?

Time to go to bed

Good night and may God bless

Good Evening!

WISHING EVERYONE A VERRRRY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!  MAY IT BE SAFE, HEALTHY AND FUN!

Did manage to get my Christmas shopping done yesterday, took all day, but I made it.

Spent 3 days working on the train display in Orange County.  I was doing the maintenance, and trying to keep them running.  As the Promoter required that the trains all be set up to be interactive with the kids, and boy are they tough on the stuff.  Been pretty lucky so far, only have lost 2 freight cars, 1 transformer, & 4 transformer handle knobs.  (The transformers are all in contained shelf with a plexiglass cover.  And a cut-out allowing the xfmr handle to rotate in an arc.  Using the MTH Z1000.  Anyway, Iam repair one, and this 10/11 year comes up to me with a the transformer in her hand!!  Watched some kids trying to lift the plexiglass off, straining to get fingers to the buttons.)  Thankfully, that is just a small percentage of the kids.  It is so much fun watching the excitment, and happiness on the faces of most of them.   One youngster asked me if I invented these trains.  It will be interesting to see whats left come Jan. 3.

Can't believe the weather, here it is almost Christmas, and most of you are having warmer weather than we are.

We will be spending the holiday with Kay's parents,  he isn't doing real well and its been difficult for MIL, and Kay.  But we have extremely happy and blessed!!!  Everyone is healthy and doing great.

Going to sign off before I fall asleep at the keyboard.  So have a great day tomorrow.

Good evening all,

A good, quiet day at work.  Got everything accomplished that needed to be done.  Went for a nice walk in the warm, windy weather.   Wife and I watched "Ernest saves Christmas" tonight, which is a family tradition.  I am off now until the 4th of January.   Nice.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Aloha and Merry Merry! It was a wet and warm day but cleared enough to take the dog for a walk. Went grocery shopping in the downpour earlier with the bride which is always amusing as we have different ideas about how to accomplish our tasks. Smile  Great idea about the wooden train, Bob. Rich, I'm sorry to hear about the Reliant - and the GF.  I'm monitoring some things at work, even though we're closed for the week. Just waiting for the daughter and SiL to show up now - a day early. I invited some neighbors and their kids to visit the layout over the weekend so that's my excuse to clean it up. SJ, I'm glad your engine runs! DJ, your layout looks great. Nice to hear from you, Banks!

The torrent of relatives (seven) have now arrived and are whipping Noah into a frenzy.  But most are headed downtown today and Noah is going to day care so should have some time to bring the house back to something approaching normalcy.  Need to start prepping the food for Christmas day, but should also have some time for the galvanic cell experiments talked about on another thread to see if some of my old track is truly galvanized or just patina-d.  Chemistry and Christmas - a winning combination!

Hello there,

I've been MIA.

Life has been hectic here. I'm a couple days behind on the pot. A quick check in to say all is well and wish you Merry Christmas.

Did notice Chief has been scarce. What's up with that?

Best move on. Working real hard for some rest days next week. Try to catch yo all up then

Prayers for those in need

Good morning everyone. Christmas is just two days away and I hope that all of you have finished work on your Chritmas layouts by now. It is time to enjoy this wonderful season.

Fortunately, we are done and it is more laid back time this week. For the first time in many years, no snow on the ground. Last year we had 18" at this time. Very unusual for most of Maine not to have a White Christmas.

For those who will be traveling within the next two days, be safe. It is not you behind the wheel that is typically the problem, it is the other guy.

A very Merry Christmas to you all.

Good evening all,

A major milestone tonight.   In the train room, there was not one, not two, but three trains running at the same time.  Three gauges, HO, O and Standard and three types of motive power, electric, diesel and steam.  Right now it is track on bare board on jury-rigged tables, but it is a start.   Weather is warm.  Work went well, and I had a nice long walk without much complication.   It was a good day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

cloudy and in the 50's again today.

Kev - those MoPac Alcos do look nice.  I can understand your reluctance to chop them up for your project.  I just remembered that if you want to make a two motor B-unit, you will need to splice together the back half from two powered A-units.  I
lucked out and found some frames on E Bay for my project.

All for now.

Evening all from warm Southern Ohio,

It was sunny and in the high 60's.  Youngest feels much better today, thanks!

Youngest daughter came in today and the house is CRAZY!!!  The kids love her and her boyfriend and are so glad when they get to see them.  After supper I think we're going out to see Christmas lights, because the weather is to turn wet the next couple of days.

Fife- I saw the pictures of the Christmas layout; really nice.

Anjdevil88- it seems our jobs as dads is to pick up the pieces and fix what's broke never really is completed.

Got to go

Goodnight and may God bless

Hey, all....

Checking in, quickly....

Princess' Reliant is broken again, another $700.  If it breaks again, it'll be time for a new car.  I can't take this......worst part, it broke at her mothers wedding reception.  And her brother couldn't be bothered.  Ol' Dad to the rescue again!

No room under the charlie brown tree for a train,  just no room in my little TV room.

Raining and up to 50ish today.  70F on the 'eve, looking forward to driving the road runner topless for Classic Car Christmas Eve.....I'm off at 1PM

GF and I are having issues, like she wants a timeline to marriage, which isn't happening.  We'll still date for a while, but there will be no rings in my future.  Just not ready for this and not sure when I would be...no, I didn't start this....

Other than that, things are running hot straight and normal.  Waiting on a call back for a better job, tired of 66 hour weeks.....40 - 45 would be wonderful right now...

See ya soonest....good to see Phish here again!!!

Angel for those in need

Cloudy and 40s today. I could handle this till March, no problem at all.

I polished the rails yesterday with a TMCC "J" that acted up at Sunday's train show. Worked fine at home. So it must have been the layout.

Good mornin' all.

So much for getting some things done in the yard, when you want it to rain it don't so today is the flip side of that statement.

Yesterday was a big snafu at the museum. Ended up not opening at all, first thing that came to mind was a quote from Cool Hand Luke, "Whwt we have here is a failure to communicate". Oh welll got the track and everything prepped yesterday so they won't have to do it today.

Okay, here's a tuffy for y'all, find the one Panda amongst the snowmen:
