Evening all!

Phish - sunny days predicted for the next week! But all the lake parks they just reopened from spring floods are closed again.

Watching the CMA Country Christmas special. Always good and the music stays traditional.

Have a great day tomorrow all!

First coffee pot post - so here goes.

Got to put my new Brakeman's Riveting set to use this afternoon repairing the first of many MPC-era couplers that have lost their opening spring. Was a bit tricky setting the spring correctly and simultaneously getting the knuckle on the rivet - but once accomplished, the Brakeman Riveter worked great.

We found various Chuggington videos on YouTube this week - so the 2YO is entranced at the moment.  But it's about time for bed - then a little work on the layout.

Good evening all,

Good day at work.  Quiet night at home.   Got some stuff put away.  Wife went to a craft program and brought home a nice decoration she made.   Weather was good for this time of year.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello all

Back @ work for another week.

Didn't get any more work done on the Corvan, but the work we did looks good.

Title for the '63 Coupe has been purged from the AZ DMV system. Anything that hasn't popped up in over 10 years gets removed from the system. They said if I bring the car down, they can do a VIN inspection and rebuild the file. Guess I will be looking for a truck and trailer @ some point.

Not much new on the train front, picked up a couple of electrical blocks to hook up the two loops of the layout.

Hope RT is doing better.

Aloha. Cold but looks to be sunny when the sun actually comes up. It's usually night-dark when I take the youngest to the bus-stop. We could pick out some planets although the moon is pretty bright.

Welcome JT! We still watch Thomas the Tank Engine stories. Sodor was the theme of an earlier layout.

DJ, youll love the room once the old couch is gone. Our SA won't pick up furniture like that but I find if I put something out on garbage-pick-up day, it usually disappears. Smile

I have to take the car in for a recall this morning, and I'll research a new dishwasher to replace the one that's too pricey to fix. I found its paperwork - I got about 7 years out of it - these days I think that's good. I first suggested to the bride that we don't need a dishwasher - as we don't dirty-up too many dishes. That got me a look. Then I went out and ordered one, thinking wrongly that an appliance is just an appliance - and something to be fixed when broken, like plumbing or heating. Boy, was I wrong. Big Smile I discovered it is an integral part of the house decorating schema and needs much research. I think I will need to think up ways to stave off a full-kitchen-makeover...

Good morning from a cold frosty North Bluff but the sun is out and it will get to the mid 40s so they say.
Welcome JTrains!   Welcome  Where you at in Chicago? Confused
Bob, I have a truck and car hauler, so if you could find me a nice rust free 64 to 68 Mustang project maybe I could make a trip and help you with the title for the 63 Coupe.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Morning.  Sunny and chilly.  Fall may be here for a few days.  Not hunting.  Getting up leaves.  Been doing this but ground is covered.  Cold didn't bring them down.  Rain and wind.  Never turned them brown.

RT????  Will try his home later.

Have a good one.

Thanks for the kind welcomes! KRM I'm out in the Sugar Grove / Elburn area - far west suburbs, past Naperville but not yet at DeKalb.

On tap today: some business development (i.e., sales) work for my consulting, plus getting things ready to have friends over for dinner tonight.  We're going to do a "make your own pizza" night - I whip up some dough this morning and let it rise, then heat up a couple of pizza stones and everyone can roll out and top their own pizza. Always a hit and gets people interacting a lot.

Put the Brakeman's riveter to work again last night after Noah went to bed - now have the hang of replacing those knuckles.  Two down - about a dozen to go.

JTrains,   The Sugar Grove / Elburn area is nice. I worked my last two years in Dekalb. Drove there from our new place in Marseilles and our old place in Plainfield so I was around there a lot.

Mornin' Fellas

Well apparently it is now Friday? I enjoy working from home as I get a lot accomplished, but I now have no clue what day of the work week it is... I know it is Saturday or Sunday when I wake up and TheQ is still here. Sigh Well lookie there the emoticon placed in the correct spot. Smile Anyhooo...

DBaker - shingles? ugh. I have my go around with them last Summer. Not fun at all. Felt like 1,000,000 gremlins where under my skin poking me with microscopic needles and 10,000,000 gremlins where scortching my skin from the outside with blow torches! Mine lasted about 6 weeks, then I was able to get the shot to help prevent them from coming back.

Fife - not looking good for Sunday. We are going to be in Bal'more on Saturday running ehrands so I'm going to drop TheQ and Matthew off at her Father's house and Christina and I are going to venture North to the trainshow and then to the largest jewelry store on the East Coast to pickup TheQ's Christmas present from her Father (funny how I was able to make that work to my advantage) Thumbs Up. I will get the button in the mail, unless you'll be around tomorrow I may be able to drop it off?

Sun and 40s today.

Grocery shopping this morning took forever. I stopped at Harbor Freight on the way home, was in and out in 10 minutes. Men do shop different than women.

Good Morning from cool (30°F) and clear Southern Ohio

TGIF; wasn’t it LAZ that used to post that all the time?

Any word from RT?

JTrains –Welcome

Bob-The good and the bad of Shift Work.Sometimes I get more rest at work, but don’t tell anyone!

Doug- “The look” I know it well. Got it a couple of times just yesterday

KRM-Sounds like a great deal to me and a road trip thrown in to boot.Yes the diesel as a tow vehicle is hard to beat.Hit the sweet spot in the RPM band and GO

Banks- Glad the hospital trip went OK, my bride is with her Mom now in the hospital; MIL is getting stints and maybe a cath. One of “the looks” was tied to this.

My bride has had her hands full the past few days. She is the school nurse, and there was a lice infestation at the grade school and high school. For two days she spent the entire day checking heads for lice and nits; then convincing parents there kid had lice.So many parents were in denial that their kid could get lice. One of our three had lice. That means multiple head treatments, picking out nits and dead lice, very time consuming. Then a parallel path of washing clothing & bedding, sweeping everything, bagging coats, stuffed animals etc. for a couple of weeks.Late last night I got “the look” when I suggested we decorate the tree when I get home from work tonight.

Got to go, may God bless

Jim

G'day All !

Helping the BetterHalf get ready for their Rady's fundraiser tomorrow. Started packing her stuff into the car, don't know if it will all fit. Whistling Once I get all her stuff packed then I can stage my stuff for tomorrow. Gonna be there from 8am til closing at 9pm so I will have a full load to take. Packed up 5 engines, 4 diesel & 1 steam, since it will be such a long day I want to make sure I have multiple backups just in case.

The "look" more commonly referd to as the "skunkeye". Smile, Wink & Grin Quite well acquainted with it. Whistling

Speaking of Laz, he hasn't been in for awhile. Probably has discovered  like the rest of us that just because you retire it doesn't mean that you will have "lots of free time".

Break time is over, back to work.

Prayers for all those in need.

Later all.

P.S. The webcams on our layout will be live from 11am til 9pm Pac time today and tomorrow, log on to our website and scroll down.

JTrains, welcome to the forum.  Never tried those brakeman riviters.  Sounds like a good fix.

Got a call today from the healthcare company supplying some services in connection with my wife's recent surgery.  Now they are informing me that my doctor has given them an order to give me help in some way.  Don't know the details yet but got a message from my doctor's office that he wants to talk to my wife and I on Monday.  Don't know what to make of it yet but my first reaction was that somebody is sticking their nose in my personal business.  Hope I'm wrong but won't know until Monday.  If it's legitimate I'll be grateful but if this company is just trying to milk medicare at my expense, I won't buy that.  I have real needs but understand that you get what you pay for mostly.  The kind of help that I need as a caregiver is not covered by medicare as far as I know.  I need to hire a sitter for adults so I can get out to do things.

Hello there,

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been a long week. Last weekend after a ride to the Kittanning train show Sunday Moring after mass (picked up a big box of used HO track) I spied this again in Hollidaysburg

Steam

They had just returned from a Santa ride

GP

Also this. One of a pair they normaly use. Now if it works a video

IIf you know how to make a video work let me know. I'll send it to you

Managed to get a barely legal buck about 11AM Monday. Took it to son's friend to process. 1st deer ever I haven't done myself. Just got too many irons in the fire. I have more tags but I'm gonna stay home and rest a sore knee while doing some Christmas prep tomorrow. Got the HO loop on the under the tree platform repaired tonight. The Bradford Pear tree in the yard finally dropped it's leaves. Should gather them but I'm hoping the wind will take care of getting rid of them. It's been an extremely mild fall. Warmest November on record.

Mom seems to be doing OK after an ambulance ride at 6AM. She was chuffing like the engine above an had a bit of a blue tint when we called 911. ER passed it off as being caused bt the UTI we knew she had but I'm not buying it. Gonna keep a really close eye on her for a few days

RT WELCOME BACK!!!!!!!!!

Best get t sleep

Hello all

Another quiet night on the mountain.

DougM - the planets you are seeing right now in the morning are (top to bottom) Jupiter, moon, Mars, and Venus. It was very nice yesterday morning as it was quite clear up here

Kev - I imagine those Mustangs are around, but the early models seem to command a high price nowadays. Once I get some decent tires on the car, I may just rent a U-haul for a day and just get it done.

Don - glad you are doing better

Saw a unit train of covered gondolas heading west on the way to work Wed. w/ three engines on the point, 2 in the middle, and 2 on the end. Most distributed power I've seen them use around here in a while. That's quite a bit of horsepower.

Looks like the trolley and bus group was able to get the new building they were hoping for. Will mostly be for bus restoration/storage for the near future. One of the problems the group has is that once you restore something the size of a bus, where do you keep it? This will give us a lot of inside work and storage space, which is something they are lacking now. I'm hoping they can find a place to store the Phoenix car inside. Would be nice to see that one saved. We'll continue to work on the Lisbon car at the 'barn' for now.

Mornin' boys.  Brisk 36 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Got most of the bank layout up yesterday, then spent another 3 hours in the garage working on North Pole, before back stiffened up.  More of the same today.  Trying to come up with supplies for a big rock candy mountain.

88 - I will be in and out today, but gimme a call if the mood strikes.  Apparently the planets are in line...

rt - Glad you are home and on the mend.

SPMan - Idea What about that friend that keeps wanting to visit...?

Banks - You are a good son.

JTrains ---> Welcome

Hoping to see some warming up here... Not as cold this morning as usual. Nice to see JTrains here. Was wondering when he was going to give the coffeepot a shot. Somebody said to ask what states were represented here in December for some interesting answers.  So...

What states are represented here?

I know the state of unorganized is represented here, at any rate. Its rep is typing all this out.

Morning Gang!

Sunny and seasonal temps finally. Back yard is a mud pit. The past summer of only watering once a week and the previous year of watering once every 2 weeks cost me most of the grass. Weeds and mud. I have replaced the sod twice in last 20 years  not doing it again.

Banks - Angel for your mom.

RT - glad you are back and better.

Ray - Angel - hope the outcome of your meeting Mon is good for you.

DougdaG - hope you took a big pot of chili?

Brent/Don - I got the shingles shot. Hope it works.

SJ - think you have that backwards. Men walk into mall or grocery store and walk out in 10 min. Men walk into HF and are there for 2-3 hrs...Laugh

JT - welcome!

North TX/Dallas area here.

Have a great day all!

Morning all.  Sunny and chilly [finally].  I actually ahd to wear my heavy Army field jacket yesterday afternoon.  Did leaves until they got damp and didn't much well.  Out to do more today.  They didn't die from frost and fall.  Rain and wind beat them off.  Strange weather.  At least not raining.  Been in a rain every three days.  Everything super wet down east and shooting lanes flooded.

Hope all are OK.  Glad to see RT home.

Texicans are exta dry and then flooded.

Have a great weekend.

Good morning,

Had a busy past couple of weeks with work and family visiting for the holiday.  We had a great Thanksgiving here in Ohio.  I have completed some minor work on the layout and eventually I'll take some more photos.  It's not nearly completed but it's scenicked enough, and the youngest just wants to run trains which we can do.  The AF may move me in 2016 so I'm hesitant to do much more to it; I think I just want to run the trains as well right now.  We will finish putting up the Christmas decorations today as it will be in the lower 50s and sunny.

RT - I'm glad you are home and doing well.

Buckeye - What time do you plan to attend?  We do not get home from church until 1230 so I would not be on the road until after 1300.

Joe
