Good Morning All !

Still trying to catch up from being away for almost two weeks. Got a small load of redwood for deck repair being delivered today, then the fun(?) begins. Hopefully it will stay cool for a few days and not rain any til I'm done. I'm sure that SWMBO will be watching and giving me the skunk eye when she believes it is time to take a break or stop for the day.

It is October 1st and I see that the conductor is giving us the signal to get this thing rolling:

Later all !

Good morning all,

Went to my gastrointerologist this week for follow up on my Crohns problem.  He is not satisfied with the results of the medication I have been taking for a couple of years or so and may have to put me on a very expensive drug.  I just finished scraping myself off the floor when I heard the cash price which was $12,000 per month.  That's insane.  My insurance will cover some of it but I will still have to pay about 5K per year out of pocket.  That's still better than 12K per month.  He has upped the dosage on what I am taking now and will see how that does before going to anything else.

Hope cooler weather is on the way.  Slight chance of a shower by Monday.  TTOS meet on Sunday.  Will go if I can.

later,

Ray

Aloha. Sunny and very blustery today - too much for sailing though good for blowing leaves into the neighbor's yard - and their leaves into my yard. Big Smile  I completely forgot it was October until right now. Wow, Ray, I hope it works.

Halloween is sure a great theme for a train or layout!

Thanks for the big scale Lionel info guys.

DunceFife,

Sometimes it goes behind the general :

just coming out of tunnel so not a very good photo.
Smetimes behind the 0-6-0:
And sometimes behind the Hallow's Eve 4-6-0 :
Would like to invest in that new MTH halloween ES44 but that is just a little bit to  much money to invest in something  that would only run a couple weeks out of the year. Pirate
Update: Just heard from a friend that ordered the MTH Halloween ES44 , it is scheduled to ship on 11/1. Dunce

Evening all,

Well got the first pass on the leaves done and burnt. Very windy like Doug said so I had to keep a close eye on the fire and have the hose on the ready.

Going down Roy's way to Texas Saturday to help a friend fighting with cancer move some stuff to his property there. Someplace by Weatherford west of Fort Worth best I know and I will be pulling a 28' enclosed trailer full of stuff with a 2012 F150 EcoBoost. Should be interesting.

You guys out east keep an eye to the sky! Angel

Hello all

Playing w/ some of the N-stuff I just got tonight. The loop I have is just too tight radius for this stuff. I originally got it for a trolley. Should work well on the layout though.

Sending some of the O-gauge off to points east.

Will work on the van some more this weekend. Then maybe next weekend I can use it to move the layout.

Mornin' boys.  Looks like just a glancin' blow from Joaquin.  We'll see.  Did get down to yatchet to double up and slack out the lines.  Didn't suffer any theft, though some of the guys on my pier did.  A lot of folks panicked and hauled out this week.  I worked the night of Isabel, and saw what worked and didn't work in our area first hand.

dougdagreatgrumpkin - You know, some of the railroads paint their MOW engines in orange (CSX was big on that in the late 80's and 90's).  Just a thought.  Personally, I love the black and orange of the W&LE.  Gotta admit, that "Hogwarts" Halloween loco is pretty sharp.

Good morning,
Packed and ready to go tomorrow.
All this talk on N-gauge has me wondering if it could be used on our O gauge layout amusement park area as a kids miniature train ride? I was thinking a 24” loop could be set around the outside of that area and maybe I could remove the tops of passenger cars and place o scale riders in the cars. I have no knowledge on N gauge track or trains at all. Any ideas?  Huh?

N ga. train for a park ride usually fits into O ga layouts pretty well.

Afternoon all watching the storm reports looks like we will be okay but still need to watch the after affect we could get from the rivers being over flowing from all the water north of us. as it does have to come this way. we will see.

Not much else going on need to get back into whats going to be my room and straighten it up some more so I can start claiming it again lol. Did do a major claim yesterday now to continue lol. I want to get the area for layout cleared out so I can start looking at that. This time I think it will be no carpet I will get foam and go from there.

Well you all have a good day. TGIF

Good morning all,

I have been trying to do some research about that expensive medicine I mentioned yesterday but the more I learn the more confused I get.  I finally called the doctor's office and spoke to his assistant about the price.  I told her that I could not afford this type of drug so the ball is in their court.  She was not entirely sure that he was suggesting the type of medicine I thought it was but said she would get back to me.  I told her that I was getting all worked up over this.  I have decided to stop worrying about it and wait to see what unfolds.  There is nothing I can do right now anyway until I get some better information from

a. My insurance provider

b. Medicare part D

c. The doctor

My friend Larry and his wife are going on a tour of the Fall colors in New England this weekend.  I hope they don't get rained out by hurricane Joaquin.

Weather guesser says possible showers here in SoCal this weekend.  Bring in on! We need it.

Hello there,

Just sent beef to butcher shop. Now thinking about back to bed or breakfast..........Spent last evening watching The Real McCoy's on You Tube. Did a check on the pot befor bed and found it deserted.

Looks like the storm went east. Today's all day hard rain has been down graded to cold with showers later today and tomorrow. How are you guys on the coast making out?

Built fire in Mom's house and turned the oil boiler on at home. Got leaking pumps at both places to deal with today. I'll have to install the last of my stock of bearing assembly's I bought at a heating supply going out of bussiness auction about 8 years ago. Since they all need only seals I'm goung to lookat how hard it is to replace them. Cheapest new bearing assemblie's I can find are near $100.

Archery season for deer opens here today. I'll bet there are a lot of wet Robin Hood wannabe's out there. Last hillclimb of the year should prove interesting tomorrrow.

Gonna talk to mrs and decide what to do.

Prayers for those in need

Happy Saturday from work - first time in a month.... :(

Mom and Dad made it safely to NC - streets are flooded but the house is ok for now

55F with rain and wind - this thing will miss us by 350+ miles to the east

We were under a drought warning and this will fix that mess..

Purchased a box of older lionel engines and some Atlas O track, I cleaned up the 3035 with a toothbrush and liquid had soap and the main body looks good but the front is a grayish color....maybe it was replaced?  I'll see about painting it semi gloss black but then I'll have to strip and paint the whole engine....I'll add a LED headlight, the smoke unit is there, need to clean and lube the motor.

SubBob - N is too small for me----I can't see it.....LOL!

Leaving Thursday for FLA to see my Princess....Fife-Where DID the time go???

Back to work....

675, 2025, 2035 if your refering to the cowcatcher assembly it is not unusual for it to not match the rest of the boiler paint.

Morning.  Rain has let up.  3.25 inches for this event.  Soggy out.  Temps 58.  Suppoe to go back up for a few days.  Dry out Tuesday they say.  Breezy with some gusts [not from hurricane].

Rich, tell Mom and Dad to wait it out.  Nothing finer than to be in Carolina.  Especially on the Outer Banks.  Actually hurricane is out to sea and not hitting us.

Fifey, glad it is going more north east.  Then Maryland is not getting it too.

Got a 4 to 6 PM tour at Food Lion collecting food and $$ for Backpack Buddies.

Stay dry.

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work Friday.  Still was tired when I came home.   Went to watch "my" soccer girls win their last regular season game, which left them at 7-7-2 for the season.   Grandson's team won as well, 3-1.   Weather was absolutely horrible.  Went to local historical society to see their exhibit on the 50s.  No trains but still informative.   Talking to the director about their Halloween program and wound up volunteering to bring the Halloween train and assorted other items for a one day display.  That will be fun.   Got a "dopey grin" email from my Norwegian soccer friend with pictures of her sister's wedding.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Afternoon all.  Raining. Bang Head  Been lazy today.  Need break.  Will go out on errands with Wifey later this afternoon.

Jon, got 4 1/2 grocery carts full of food and some cash.  Real good.  You see some things unusual.  Had a elderly black lady in poor clothing come out of the store and give me a dollar.  Some folks drive up in high dollar SUV's and ignore you. [makes you think of the "widow's mite".]

Got a call from a guy who is friend's with Hunters Haven.  going up to look at the lake house. Big Smile

Hope all have a great week ahead.
