Good day all.
A touch of rain over night with a lot of noise. It did drop the temps some but they will return to the mid 90s by this afternoon.
The leaves are turning and already starting to fall from some of the trees. It is on the way!
Happy Birthday to Ryan!!

Dennis et al, thanks for the input about the Buick. I think I will keep it until the smog check comes up in two months. If it fails, I will dump the car. Right now it is driveable but I will not put another dime in it. I just use it as a back up car if my good car is in for service or something. In the future, I could just rent a car for a day or two if I need one. The dealer gives you a free rental if the bill is over a certain amount. Whatever! It's cheaper in the long run than maintaining the old one.
Just read on Trainorders.com recently that Metrolink is taking the new cab control cars off of the point because of a weak pilot (cow catcher) that allows wreckage to get under the wheels and cause derailments like the one in Oxnard a while back. In the interim they will use leased engines on opposite ends of the train. They will retrofit the cab cars which may take several months.

Good evening all,
Filled the minivan up with Lucas' stuff. Took a while to get it all sorted and loaded. Rested the rest of the day. Got an hour of rain that cooled things off for a while. Watched the Indy 11 win 3-0. All in all, it was a good day. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Mornin' boys. Nice summer day in the Mid-Atlantic region. Invited to in-laws for a cookout later. Perhaps yatchet tonight or tomorrow. Wifey spent all afternoon pitchin' and a throwin' her stuff, so things are rampin' up in fifedom.
Was kinda disappointed in Michael's Lemax display. Did pick up Wanda's Wicked Cupcakes for middle princess. She's a big Harry Potter fan, and I've been putting together some Hogwart's "like" buildings for her over the past several years. Amazing, as popular as the series is, that none of the big collectibles outfits (Dept 56, Hawthorne Village, LEMAX) has put out any villages pertaining to that. Hopefully, Big L will put out a new Hogwarts Express with Lion Chief. I'll ask at YORK.

Good morning all,
A/C is still not working good at church. We left right after communion. Thought about going to a different parish but toughed it out at our regular one. Whatever happened to those old hand held fans with a wooden stick on it? They would come in handy now. I'm thinking about getting one of those hand held battery powered fans with soft rubber blades until they fix the problem. The church needs a lot of work and the A/C is part of some master plan to fix all of it. Meanwhile we wait.
Went out to eat tonight with our friend who seems to have adopted us since his wife passed away. Don't mind but it's too frequent. I have too much on my plate to baby sit him as well as my wife. Sorry for the rant.
No plans for tomorrow but our kids are coming over. Hope they bring something to eat. I told them all I had in the refrigerator was some frozen hot dogs. Might check a local market tomorrow and see if they are selling precooked ribs like they did last year.
Happy labor day all,
Had a nice visit with Lucas. Their new place is nice. It will do well for them for now. Got everything unloaded. Stopped at wife's sister place on way home. Just got home. It was a good day. I hope everyone has a good day.
Sun and 90 today. Spent yesterday afternoon on the shore of Lake Erie. My 2 grandsons who have grown up in swiming pools wanted to know if there were any sharks in the water. Once convinced it was safe they had a good time.

Happy Labor Day
Did some yard work. Really too hot outside. I rested the rest of the day. Not feeling too good. Not sure what is the matter. Maybe have overdone it the last 2 days. Go back to work to rest. I hope everyone has a good day.
Labor day, just is not what it was or should be. Seems everything was open when it all should of been closed.
Saw Sandra's uncle who found out he has terminal cancer and he wanted to visit Sandra mom his sister and see Sandra. So we hooked up at the MIL's with her cousin, things did not take to long the old dude is sharp for 92 years old and has the end in focus. He served in WW2 and his kid seems ok. Glad we went. Has been 22 years since we saw them.
When we left Katie, Dan and the kidos came over and we had a lot of fun. Lexi will be 5 tomorrow and we will meet at Chilies in Morris for a dinner party. After many Gator rides and tractor rides. I can't tell you how good Jordan is with driving / stearing the tractor and the trains. Wow for a kid 26 months old I am in shock. He has the steering on the tractor down and controling the transformer and all of the other controls on the layout Thomas side all good. The kid is in control, and you can just watch him and know he is thinking about what and how things work.
The best part is Sandra and Katie made dinner and I got a night off!!!
Enjoy!
Evening all!
Happy Labor Day...
Had a great weekend with lots of sun, fun, and boating.
Buckeye. How many days will you be at York?
Have a great day tomorrow all!
Regards, Roy
It was a georgous weekend in Maine, fair weather and warm temperatures. We got to use the boat every day, and with the nice weather, it was a real treat. Our dog Cody enjoys the boat as well and the minute I go for the boat keys, he is at my feet.
Also got more work done on my 115th Lionel Anniversary passenger car set. This set will be a match to the silver plated Berkshire. This project is almost done and at this point, I think it is coming our nicely. Great when a plan comes together.
Aloha from a cloudy and humid Chicago. It was a pleasant quiet long weekend though the youngsters were sick with summer colds. We went to a minor league baseball game which are always fun. I like the intimacy of the small parks and how inexpensive everything is, compared to the big leagues. Kev, that thresher meet sounds neat. I enjoyed the meet in Sycamore this year. It was hot then too. Nothing thrilling in the latest Lionel catalog...
Ray, if you use Craigslist, meet your potential buyer in a public place like the police station parking lot - not at home, and take a friend along, if you can, especially for a test drive.

No ribs yesterdaaccount the super market only cooks them on Saturday outdoors for sale. Had hot dogs and hamburgers instead but it was OK. Oldest son and his family came over for lunch and a swim later. Youngest son bailed out for an outing with his girlfriend. I think he's in love. He will be gone now until Wednesday night. Don't see much of him now.
Another Gold Line light rail station dedication on the Gold Line this weekend in Monrovia. They have been doing about one a week lately. The line is basically finished. They are just putting on some final touches. Will take a ride to L.A. when it's open. I could ride it to train meets in Arcadia if I had someone pick me up. It's a long walk to the train meets from the station. Just a thought.
Wife scheduled for mamogram today at the hospital and will see doctor tomorrow for regular check up. She had a fall yesterday morning after getting out of bed about 6:00AM. Scared me but no broken bones. She has some black and blue marks on her right arm though. I think she hit the dresser on the way down. Seeing the doctor tomorrow is timely.
Three days ahead in triple digets. Hot all week. L.A. Country Fair open now. Always at the hottest time of the year. Never fails! Nothing there that I need.
wrmcclellan Evening all! Happy Labor Day... Had a great weekend with lots of sun, fun, and boating. Buckeye. How many days will you be at York? Have a great day tomorrow all!
Warm day today. Good day at work. Girls tied both varsity and JV. Boys lost. Voice gone. I hope everyone has a good day.
Morning all. Waiting for wife so we can go into Aiken for a few things. ( including my labs at the V.A. clinic ) then we will be back home. Not much else planned for the day. I think I was the main course for a misquote last night as I slept.
Hope all having a good Hump Day talk to you all later.

Morning. Real warm and muggy. Fall temps and humidity starting Sunday. Will be great. Love the fall.
Busy as usual. Rushing out to lake house to mow and then back for a big dinner meeting.
Ray, you and your wife are always in my prayers.
Kev, prayers for your Uncle.
Glad Lucus is doing good.
Later.
Good morning.
Hi guys, survived the grand-daughters birthday party last night and only got clipped $52.00 by Chili's for Sandra and my eats. I really don't care for that place. The portions are small and the prices are high but it is on middle ground for everyone as a meeting place.Don't know why but slept in till 8:20 for some reason but feel good. So maybe I will get back to the wood pile work today. Temps are way down and the AC is off. Will be cool for a few days then warm up next week. Leaves are starting to take over the grass all ready. The elms, cherry and shagbark hickory, are shedding. Must be the same for Doug.RT, I feel for that poor misquote!
Chief, I agree, love the fall but then we have a thing called "winter" I could pass on.
105 degrees here today. Suppose to go to a bar-b-que joint tonight with a group. An elderly lady in her 90's needs a ride but I don't think it would be good for her to go out in this heat or my wife either for that matter. Will try to get out of it. Be glad when it cools off so I can get in the garage and run some trains if they haven't melted yet.
Hello all
Back on the mountain for a few more days. We are still in summer maintenance mode for a few more weeks.
SPRay - if you itemize your taxes you could also donate the car and write off the value of the car
Kev - enjoyed the new medicare plan:)
Made some more progress on the Corvan last weekend. Need to finish up the front left side this weekend.
Ordered some supplies from Squadron for a modelling project I am working on. Used to order stuff from them when I was a kid and enjoyed browsing thru their catalog. They sell the Humbrol paints in the small cans which I like.

A good day at work. Comfortable but soggy weather for a walk. Did nothing tonight. Progress on addition. I hope everyone has a good day.
Hi there, I have been up SJ.
Worked in the wood pile yesterday for about an hour. This morning I finished splitting all of the wood I had on the ground, and I have three full rows + of wood in the shed. Now to tackle the dead ash trees and finish off the forth row so it will be full. That is two years worth. What I split last year is what I will use this year. What I split this year I will use next year.
Then this afternoon I will give blood. Free cookies.
Another hot day forcast. They say 101 but it will probably get hotter where we live. Yesterday was brutal. I cancelled out on the bar-b-que joint. Called everyone concerned but no answers. Left messages but no responses. I doubt if anyone went.
Our sometimes live in son was back home last night for a dental appointment this morning. He will be home tonight then off to ride the train to the Grand Canyon on the weekend with his girlfriend. I need a haircut if I can get somebody to hold the fort here for a while.
Watched the new late show with Colbert but was not impressed yet. Took the old David Letterman spot. Late night TV is a wasteland. Johnny Carson was the best. No one can replace him. He had the best band too. These current bands are a dud. I must be in a generation gap.
Good day at work. Got a lot of work done on "odds and ends" tasks that you never seem to get around to doing. Was supposed to be a nice night of watching "my" soccer girls whip up on the visitors. Did not quite work out that way as we got pounded 3-0 and it could have been much much worse. JV did salvage a tie. Boys lost 3-1. Did get my GN caboose I had ordered off eBay. Despite a damaged exterior shipping box and grossly inferior padding, the caboose is in good shape. I hope everyone has a good day.
Mornin' boys. The things we do for cookies... Partly cloudy and 64 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Pretty sure I made myself sick when I dove in the bay to clean the yatchet prop. Bouncing back some today.
cheapclassics - What are we pairing that caboose up with?
