Mornin' boys. Mornin' Shake & bake! Might be 9/1 on the calendar, but feels like 7/4 in the Mid-Atlantic region. Grandson duty today, but middle princess is home today to help out. My nice son-in-law hauled away a truck load of old shhtuff to the dump. Yeah.
Same here on the North Bluff. Hot as mid July. Just perfect weather to sit on the porch and watch the cat sleep and hummingbirds attack the feeders.
Did get a new battery for wifeys car. Hers is over eight years old so I am replacing it just because.

Gonna be cooler today, so they say. Hate to see the electric bill for aug. They are still saying that we should have a major El Ninio event this fall/winter. Lots of rain, as long as it don't come in downpours so most of it will be beneficial.

Hiphiphooray, I was able to find some d/c Weaver trucks, only three pair but that gets me closer to upgrading all my Weaver flats w/their load of Corgi d/c tanks.
Friday was an abreviated day at the museum, ran out of gas and had to depart a couple of hours early. Probably a good idea since we were a bit shorthanded for the Kid's Club on saturday. I was able to last the whole day.
Time to get off my duff and get some things done.

Long day at work. Hot weather. "My" soccer girls won 3-1 in a lethargic contest hampered by the lost of 2 starters. What was a promising season is turning to hash. I do not know the boys score. Work on the addition is progressing. Leg may be getting better. I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' FellasWell the clock continues to tick and nothing on the job front. Although I do have so much to do to transition our data to the new company that I'm working longer hours (and not getting paid for them). Oh well.Looks like York is out. Without a job, just can't justify the expense and day off, and I have to be home with the kids because TheQ is in a wedding the next day and has rehersal that night.At least Football Season is starting! Afternoon all. Not much happening around here. Need to cut the Grass may try this evening when it cools down some. It seems cooler here I think because it seems the humidity is lower here to me.
Brent sorry to hear I must of been wrapped up in all going on here or something didn't realize you where in a situation that your job seems to be going to be disappearing. Glad you still can work some in the mean time. Prayers you can find employment with justice to your qualifications.

An uneven day at work. Found out the boys lost to an undefeated team 4-1. Still hot here. Work is progressing on steps to attic. Looking far better than I expected. Wife had root canal done today. Stayed off leg today as much as possible. Seems to be doing better. Brent, hang in there on job search. With your skills, hopefully something good will happen soon. Been reading a book on the Wright Brothers. Almost done. I hope everyone has a good day.

Afternoon. Busy for the last two days [whats new?]. Went to Edgecombe yesterday. Serviced the tractor the guy let me borrow to do food plots. Food plots are outstanding. Came up and grew 3 to 4 inches in a week. They got more good rains last night.
Mayor's stuff this AM. Early TV interview on our older senior citizen program with PD. PD calls then every day. Especially those living alone. Also, do emergency services such as pick up meds if needed.
Brent, good luck on job front. Also, prayers for Christina.
Fifey, fun babysitting. He will always remember that.

Weather is staying cooler than it has been. I'll vote for that! Went out for big breakfast yesterday and just finished the leftovers today. Pancakes were king size. One was enough.

MichRR714, your mention of Southfield brings back memories of working for Federal-Mogul and going there for corporate meetings from time to time. That was a long time ago. Worked in IT for a ball bearing plant for almost 20 years that was 5 minutes from home. Anyone who was employed there had the world by the posterior and nobody appreciated that fact. We threw it all away.... Work went much, much better than expected. Weather hot. Wife still ouchy from yesterday. I hope everyone has a good day.

I am sitting on the fence about what to do with my old 87 Buick Century four door sedan. It only has about 105K miles on it and runs good. The trouble is that it is starting to cost me. Needs new tires, new A/C, shocks, a paint job, rubber boots on the front end. Probably needs about $2000 worth of work or more and I doubt if I could get 1K for it. I also pay Ins. and registration which is coming up in November for $92.
The DMV says they might give you $1000 to get an old car off the road if it does not pass the smog test but I found out they have run out of money so no telling how long you have to wait plus jump through a lot of government hoops. If it passes the smog test, I think I will keep it until I find a better solution. I foolishly put $342 in it last month for a new fuel pump and a new battery before that. Last Wednesday the mechanism that rolls the front window up and down on the passenger side broke and that's probably an expensive fix. I got it closed and will leave it that way.

Ray, it is pushing 30 years old. I would send it south of the boarder. Spending the $$$$$$$$ for what it needs would be putting perfume on a pig. Sounds like it needs a lot. JMHO. Maybe look for something somewhat newer and like Dennis seems to find around there.
Still WAY hot on the North Bluff. Went to the thersherman’s show in Pontiac IL. with my neighbor who has a 1957 AC D14 in the show we took there today. It was so hot in the sun with no wind and +90 with high humidity I could not wait to get out of there. Still a lot of cool old steam tractors and engines. Tomorrow is a 30 mile tractor ride but I will pass. Only cut a small section of grass and quit. Have a nice night.
Quiet day at work. Did a longer walk today. Tendon is ok, but lower calf is still a bit tender although the longer I walked the better it got. Hot outside. Tried out the new stairs tonight as we brought down a lot of Lucas' stuff to take with us on Sunday. Stairs are wonderful. Lights and window trim are about done. Looked at new Lionel catalog. Not much of interest. Stuff priced too high. Ray, I am not too sure what to advise on the Buick. I think the smog test would be the deal breaker. The other items can be mostly done on an "as you can afford it" basis. I hope everyone has a good day.

Checked it out tonight SJ and the only two things I liked were the EJ&E EMD SD-38 (page 20) that they do not even have a true picture of and those Heisler logging steamers. I lived on the J tracks all of my life and saw those SD-38 for years. But at $650.00 and $1,300.00 They are way past my train budget. And come on. No true picture of the SD-38??? What are they thinking???
Never a dull moment here. Tomorrow AM I gotta get Mom's coal bin ready. 8 ton due to arrive in the PM. Doug Yes mom's house is heated via Hard (anthracite) coal from Laz's neck o' PA It is hot water baseboard supplied by a EFM Boiler. My house is heated by a hand fired boiler using Soft (bituminous) coal . Widely available in the Appilachian's
Last weekend I aquired the use of a 50' towable boom lift. Trimmed several trees and painted some high windows that had too many obstructions to reach from a ladder. (35 years ago the ladder would've been ok for all of it)
Unbelievably dry here considering the wet start of summer. Son is probably going to bush hog the beans. They are 90% brown and mostly blind. Spend more in fuel to combine than what the harvest would be worth. At this point the corn could be break even.
Ray......I'd try t peddle that '87 to the mexicans. Take the money and add what you need to spend and get something newer

Sun and 80s today. Banks nice pic and a fine looking group of offsprings. We have 6 grandsons, I had hope for a girl or 2 in the mix but it didn't happen.
