Not much going on here today, having X-Rays done. Then spend some time in the train room. I did upgrade my MTH fleet to the capacitor option and removed all batteries. They have all set for about 5 days. Tried them last night all working great!
In-Laws had an issue with the gate in their driveway, so will need to rehang it. Probably do that either Thursday or Friday.
Bob got home from his York vacation. He bought a couple of MTH bridges and shipped them, ended up costing him $172 in freight ! Expensive bridges!!
Weather is good here high 70's low 80;s. Much warmer inland a little ways up to 90 or better.
Gotta keep this short.
Everyone have a great day!
Oh Yeah, two, TWO ! Train shows this coming weekend! Saturday "The Big Train Show" in Ontario, Sunday TTOS "Open House" in Arcadia. Busy, Busy weekend!
Don
Morning. Showers around. Had big rain last night during Town Board meeting. Put out fertilizer at the right time.
Nothing until tonight. Town Hall meeting with Commissioners and School Board rep.
Might get time to get into the train box for a change.
Have a good one.

cnw1995 - I sprayed CRC 2-26 on old tube socks, then wiped the tops of the rails. Then in sections where there were still noticable amp drops, I would give a little shot (using the little red straw thingie) to the pins. Also used it around the moving parts of my switches. With all the humidity and periodic dampness in basements, need a little something (just a thin swipe) to protect the track.
Aloha from a slightly less freezing Chicago. That's a good price, Rich, for a 1 bdrm. They'd be paying at least 700 more per month if they were here. My condolences on the loss of your friend RT. Nothing too exciting going on. Had to look up CRC 2-26, Fife. You sprayed it on the connections between each piece of track? I may have to try that as I have a few places that don't seem to connect well for reasons of humidity of something related. Let's see if I can post this photo of the last incline cable-car in LA from 1960:

Talked to Princess last night, looks like since the ex is getting hitched in December, she's not renewing the apartment lease, so her and her BF are getting their own place. Being the nosey Dad I am, I found the place they are looking for and it is in a nice area, the price is right and the amenities are good. They want a fireplace and a 3rd story view. $800 for a 1 bed. Not bad. I hate that she's being robbed of her young adulthood, but there is nothing I can do from here.
I'm going to pre qual for a mortgage this month, since I am now eligible. The garage and the basement/attic are a requirement....
To rent or to buy, that is the question.......
Back to the grind!

June already. Wow.
Got a deal on a 17' canoe with a sail and outboard this weekend. Could care less about the outboard. Looking forward to getting it out on one of the local rivers - the smooth, shallow, slow one that is not too far away.
There was a car show at the courthouse this weekend. There was some interesting stuff there, like a '68 GTX done up gasser style with a solid front axle and a sky high stance, a very nice track 'T' that was powered by a four cyilnder something, and a '59 ElCamino powered by a 348 tri power 'W' engine. There was an early 60's Covair window van that took 3rd place in the early 60's stock class. I got there at the end of the show. It was kind of neat watching them fire up and drive off. A '72 Monte Carlo that had been entered in the 'stock' class didn't sound very stock when it drove off - I don't remember and of them coming from the factory with lumpy idles.
I stopped at the LHS and picked up the latest Lionel catalogs. I notice that there is now a mail car for the Polar Express. I'll have to order one.
About all for now.
Good evening all,
Quiet day at work. Lousy weather for walk. Not much else going on. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

I've been working on my railroad. All the live long day. It's been super-dee-duper humid the past month, and it's played havoc on my ten year old tubuar track layout. Read on another thread where someone used CRC 2-26. Well after working it into the rails and joiners, connections jumped to life. I have a Lionel bay-window caboose whose lights flicker around the layout. Wiped the center rollers with CRC, and steady as a blow torch now. Good stuff.
"there are no rivers in Southern California." V8, how about the Los Angeles, San Gabriel and Rio Hondo rivers. You didn't say they had to have water in them. Sounds like you are having a nice time in Oregon. You didn't miss much down here.
The power company shut down our power for two hours this morning. Notice said up to 8 hours but I'll take the two and be grateful. No need for generators or buying ice.
Got my pool filter cleaned out yesterday with the help of my son. Pool looks good now. Been so hot lately, I'm tempted to jump in but water is still too cold.
We celebrated oldest son's 50th birthday yesterday with pizza, ice cream and cake and gifts. Recently graduated grandson is going to Disneyland today as part of his reward for being an alter boy for the past several years. I here the regular price over there is $99 now. I haven't been in years. Haven't even seen the newer California Adventure section yet. I think the place would be a lot different if Walt was still alive.
Going to caregiver meeting tomorrow and will take my wife where she will attend a companion meeting for the patients. It's like a day care for adults. They play games, sing, excercise and even have lunch depending on what time you go. She will just be there for two hours while I go to my meeting. They do that for free. People who stay all day have to pay. Whole deal is part of the Senior Center.
Took wife to dental appointment around noon and we had a nice lunch after at a local deli. I had a great Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with steak fries and cole slaw. Wife had a turkey melt. It was all real good and washed down with iced tea. (not sweet tea chief).
#2 son is having dinner with his girlfriend after work so we don't have to cook for him. I might make BLT's for us with soup or something.
later,
Ray

Buckeye, where are you headed? Gonna be near Baltimore...?
Wouldn't this make a nice scenet to model? It's May 1938 in Atlanta Ohio. AAAAh, it's June, the grass is green, the birds are singing and it's 42 degrees... It was a cold and wet weekend spent doing daughter-wedding-related chores... Supposed to warm up by the end of the week. Sure hope so.
Doing some Amtrak riding today. Fifedog, I'll wave as I go past to BWI.

Happy Uno de Juno boys. Retirement gives me free time to make up new holidays for the calendar. Laundry and work in the train room, since it's rainy in the Mid-Atlantic region.
