Good evening all,
Spent 4 hours today moving gravel that had been left in our neighbor's yard by the guy who snow plowed our driveway. Raked some of it out, but used the shop vac to get the rest of it. Did taxes as well. ugh. Federal refund but owe the state. At least the weather was nice. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

How about that NCSU!!!!!! NCSU and UNC are in for the Sweet 16.
Cloudy and warm. Errands today. May go to the leke house tonight. Pack up the odds and ends in the "Ranger Barn". Back tomorrow. Busy rest of the week.
Have a good week.
G'day All.
Pardon the absence, just been trying to stuff 20# in a 5# bag the last couple weeks. Had to bear some wrath from"SWMBO" several days, I would come in from yardwork an just sit down and immediately fall asleep. Oh well, still alive and most all of what I needed to get done is done so now I'll slow down a bit. With as tired as I've been getting with the least little bit of exertion I'm a little concerned what the echo cardiogram will show on thursday.
Chief, Don't matter who's in the "Sweet 16", UK gonna take it all !
As part of our retirement the BetterHalf and I through our groups/clubs donate to Rady's Children's Hospital. This coming wednesday, the 25th, is a good day for charitable groups wherever there is a Jersey Mike's Sub Shop. All the outlets on the 25th donate all the day's receipts to local charitable groups across the country. Last year the San Diego shops donated slightly over $100k to Rady's. So come wednesday if you have a hungar for a sub drop into your local Jersey Mike's if there is one in your area. Pardon the shameless plug.
Need to get movin', later all.

Dalton Train Show Report........ The Dalton Train Show, aka Wayne County Ohio Train Show and the home of Rubbermaid, Cat's Meow and Smuckers was held today. The wind was cold, but no snow was in the air. The free parking lots were jammed, but I used my secret spot. The $5.00 admission line went quickly even though we arrived 15 minutes after the doors were opened. The Deputy Sheriff guarding the door looked like Fife's long lost Buckeye Cousin. They announced that this show was the largest ever with over 600 tables. Prices were really good. We purchased a non-TMCC Chessie Speeder for $34.00 and a sippy cup for the grandsons. I found another Lionel gondola in good condition for six bucks. The best of show was the Lionel Atlantic Coast Line set for $1700. What a beautiful set! S-gaugers had abovt 10-15 percent of the tables. Plenty of HO and N. Marx parts, too. O Gauge has everything from junk to brand new. My favorite MTH dealer who will not deal was not there. Still did not see any U.S. Steel rolling stock or did I find an MTH Crane Tender car. Grade for show 8.0/10. (Ten is York.) BTW, Dalton is 91 miles west of the airport in Pittsburgh on US 30. Jake's Steakhouse is the place to eat after this show.
Been out of town for a week. Went up to Michigan to help my mother in law take care of some paperwork relating to my father in law's passing. We spent the week traveling around making visits to the Social Security Office, Secretary of State's office, banks, the court house, and several doctor's appointments. My wife and I are about worn out by the various 'systems'. On the other hand, the medical testing she is having is not looking too encouraging. I took vacation time for this trip. Was more like work than a vacation.
I've got to start getting my stuff ready for the train show in a few weeks. Top of the list will be getting my cattle car & corral working. Need to shop around for a #38 water tower too.
All for now.
Thinking of you and yours 8N prayers sent.
Grand-Kids show up yesterday on a one hour nap to spend the night so Daughter and the other half can do a birthday thing for her. The weather is nice and Gator rides and running around out side was the rest of the day. We get inside and all is cool, Sandra is fiddle fiddle around as I am telling her the kids have to go down early because of their short nap................10:30pm they go to bed, Sandra and Lexi in our room and me and Jordan in the spare room.
All is good, George/the cat went into hiding as soon as they got here so at 12:00am I get up to take a l@a% and let him in. Back to bed....................12:40,,,,Jordan is thrashing and kicking around,,,, I try to make him chill,,, he breaks into some sort of WTH & Where The Heck AM I thing and goes into a screaming fit. I do all I can to calm him down but all he will do is slack off for a bit and start back up...This is full out go nuts screaming in my ear stuff. Well everyone is awake. Sandra walks him around to settle him down.......nope not a chance. So I say "You" give him back to me and go to bed. I just put him down and let him scream it out till he crashed. MY brain is a fried egg by now but it worked and he slept the rest of the night. Good thing he did.
So I get up at 7:30am and start the coffee. A little later he comes out of the bedroom like all is good with the world, what is your problem Grandpa Binka????. Go figure, He fell asleep in my arms at 11:30am in the chair so I put him down and he took a nap. So did I.
Dan and Katie show up at 2:30pm not moving to well after last nights party. We did more swing, Gator rides and they left. WOW,,,,,,,,,,,,you got to be young to have kids. On top of all that when the kido was doing the fit, the cat saw fit to decide the only way to help things was to puke in the house.
Train news:
Ordered the Lionel Hobby Shop Exclusive Metro-North M7 Set and the two car add on from Charlel Ro today for deleivery in November. Wifey wanted it.

Did 11 miles in 3 hours, 3 minutes and 45 seconds today. All walking. Not a great pace, but a good one. Last year when my sugar was high and my feet were numb, walking was not an issue. Now my sugar is low, I can feel my toes and man does it hurt. Not seeing the advantage. Took missus to see Cinderella today. Not half bad. Almost had an exclusive showing. The Frozen cartoon at the beginning was good as well. Hopefully Disney does not screw up the sequel. I hope everyone has a good day.
Mornin' boys. Partly cloudy & 28 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Not s'posed to get out of the 40s most of the week. Still on evening shift.
Went to the train show at Arbutus VFD yesterday. Finally scored a 6656 ARMOUR stockcar, in good condition. Picked up a 6-18429 hand-car for $25. Grandson loves the K-Line one we have, so it'll make a cool present in the upcoming year. Always a good little show, unfortunatley my scratchbuilder friend from Howard County was a no show, so I'll have to hold the plans for my polygonal barn a while longer.
Speaking of plans, another weekend came and went and Wifey still hasn't picked out her favorite home plan.......... She was more worried about dress shopping for wedding. Our oldest princess will never know how much of a wrench she had thrown into the machine.
Aloha. Snowing like crazy this morning. I'm glad I picked the next few days to stay home for spring break with the youngest. Dang, I'm tired of this weather. But it could always be worse. It will make for a good indoors day. Fife, weddings sure take preference over all. Praying for 8n

Morning, Not sure anything is good about it tho. Sweatshirt weather on Saturday and like Doug said, Snowing like crazy this morning. I am with you Doug, stay in the train room is my plan.
I was going to get the Lionel Rock Island 6-38371 AB set because I found it for $189.00 but wifey wanted the NY Metro-North RTR set so who am I to argue?
Now to start thinking aout the second level build.

sir james I Your snow missed us. But it's only 26 degrees.
What can you say SJ???? It is March.
They said it was going to stay north by Doug but it is snowing hard right now and we are at about 2" already with drifting. I am sure the wife will not like her 50+ mile drive home.
Good Morning!
Can't believe you guys are still battling the snow!
I actually drove to a train meet yesterday! It was small but I still managed to buy some stuff I didn't need. Got 3 Great Northern weaver scale freight cars for $10 each. Wife's Aunt & Uncle coming out for a visit next month from Milwaukee, and he use to work on the GN, so that's why I picked up the cars. Actually her Dad, Grandad, another Uncle all worked on the GN. And, I will have 1 train for them to watch.
Now back to the painting in the backyard. ADVICE: Be preparred if you paint 1 item in your yard, it will exploded into having to repaint a LOT of others! Current list now stands at: 10 Patio chairs, 3 tables, 1 Mill Stone fountain, 1 Waterfall, a dozen decorative bricks, pool heater, pool filter, wrought iron gate. THEN 8 more chairs and 1 table for In Laws. Think I got snookered!! Oh Yeah, a new hardware store opened and had a Grand Openining this past weekend of Rustoleum outdoor paint on sale 2 for $5.
Got to get busy.
Have a great day ALL!
Don
Good afternoon all,
Talk about credit card fraud is worrisome. I only use one card but pay cash for a lot of stuff.
I sent an engine back to MTH about 4 months ago for repairs. Was not worried because I knew it would take a long time. However, I called them Friday and they said they had to wait or a part but that it was in now and work should commence soon. Funny thing is, they told me they had the part 4 months ago. Apparently not. Anyway, will be nice to get it back if it still works.

A day to forget. My name badge dropped into the butter on the bran muffin. After cleaning that up, I realized some of the butter was on the floor. Had to clean that up as well. My parking badge did not work (had to get that reset later on in the day). Got a media request phone call for the first time (had to find out who they were to contact). Instead of co-worker giving me cases as she processed them, she let nine of them pile up in a drawer before I went to check on them (so thoughtful...not). Feet felt like they were on fire when I went walking today. Sleet was coming down when I left for home tonight. Tried to order tickets for Indy GP and that was all fouled up as well (still waiting for password reset). Day basically created a vacuum. I hope everyone has a good day.
Mike hate days like that as I normally lose it when it seems like everything is going on at once.
Back about 6 months ago I pulled my NS SDdash40-C that I converted to tmcc down to run it. it ran great then it stopped and nothing so killed power and took it off the track put it back on every thing worked fine other than the sound board first horn plow great after that it all sounded like crap well it was put back on the shelf till I could get to it checked to see if speaker might be blown ( doubted it ) and no it was fine so I called ERR and told them what I had done to check and Ken asked a couple of question then I said ther is one big problem thou it is vers. 1.85 and they are on vers 5.0 he said send it as I may have some parts still and he fixed it sent back to me put it in put shell on so could run it ( didn't put any screws in) and in run it would just sit there. In prog it would go like 90 miles and hour so killed power and went to an Appointment at the V.A. when I got back didn't think about it till a few minutes ago went back down and lifted shel off to take a look realized it wasn't getting any signal so I was hoping that the R4CL board wasn't bad now as all worked fine before I sent the board to ERR so started looking and gee the atenna wire came undone from the board so now all fixed and running good.
So not much else happened today just another day in the lala land lol

Sunny but Kold for late March.
Laz the guys are getting ready for York. We will have a foursome this year.
S.J.
D. Baker, nice to hear you are driving again. Must feel great to get your independence back after so long. Keep up the healing.
Need to work on tax preparation this week prior to seeing tax lady. No fun but necessary.
Got something in the mail a while back from firefighters who say new microwave towers over fire stations are causing illnesses. Article in paper today disputes it saying the radio waves given off are below federal standards. Who are you going to believe? Fireman claim the danger is up to a three mile radius from the station. That puts me in harms way if it is true.
Went for walk this morning in park and some yahoo with a leaf blower was out there at 8:30 in the morning blowing dust all over heck. Which is bad for my COPD. I have been coughing since I got home.
later,
Ray,always know you and Mrs. are in my prayers.
VA Durham NC a zoo!! Took 1hour and 15 minutes to get a parking space [double parked until one came available]. 10 minutes to get photo for ID card. Folks were extra nice. Some pitiful sights there.
Good Afternoon!
Ray, they start at 7:00 around here with the leaf blowers, etc. Even the trash trucks (3) start working the neighborhood at 7. Seen them queue up just outside our street, and soon as it strikes 7 there on the way.
Yep, drove Bob and I to a train meet in Buena Park last Sunday, what a relief! Picked up 3 GN box cars for $10 ea, wouldn't have bought them except Kay's relatives are coming out next month, and they all worked on the GN. So will have a GN train running around.
Chief, that wasn't a bad wait. Just think what it would have been if you hadn't texted me you on the way there, and I wouldn't have told you to go ahead and use my name. You would still be there, being counseled on Buckeyeisms the entire time. See its all in who you know, not what you know.
Got to get back to the painting.
Take care and hope all have a great day.
