Good morning all,

Had a nice Valentines day and did the whole thing for the wife.  Card, flowers and candy plus ate out last night.

Nothing planned today except church.  Gearing up for Ash Wednesday next week.

Port strike is causing big back up of ships to be unloaded anchored off shore here.  I imagine that the railroads are suffering too with nothing to haul.  They will probably have to invoke the Taft Hartly Law to get them back to work.  Ports are too eccential to the whole country to let it go on.  When I worked for or the railroad, we were never out more than a few hours before some judge somewhere issued an injunction to send us back to work.  The long shoreman or whoever is holding things up must have a stronger organization.

later,

Ray

Mornin' Fellas

As Fife pointed out, we are still waiting for Global Warming here in MD. Whistling Had the fireplace insert roaring all day yesterday and just loaded it again. Helps keep 75% of the house warm, if I had bought the larger unit would probably heat the entire house. The past 2 or 3 winters have been bitterly cold here.

Gathered some of the kiddos toys so we can make a trip to Goodwill. Christina and Matthew were helpful in determining what could be donated. Went into the sunroom and the floor was like ice - probably should have installed the radiant heat floor I was planning on. Sigh

Started working on the grout in the master bath shower. When I did the shower during the remodel they didn't have the premix grout with the sealer premixed in, so I went the mix-it-yourself route. Well have battling 3 rounds of mold I removed the bottom two rows and corresponding columns of grout from the shower yesterday. No mold smell this morning so it looks like I got it all. About to head back up to regrout with the new stuff.

Stay warm! It is cold out there!

Woke up this morning to 3 degree temps, a fresh coat of white stuff & high winds, but the sun is out nice and bright.  Decided to skip church and look out the window at the beautiful landscape.  Not much change over the next 10 days to look forward to.  I'm scheduled to volunteer at the PA RR Museum tomorrow, Presidents Day, but think I will let them know I won't be in. It's supposed to be sub-zero in the morning and not warm up much, I doubt if we will have many visitors.  I envy you guys in the warm climes.  Jean and I have just been hibernating.

Mornin' boys.  Clear and blustery -15 wind chill here in the Mid-Atlantic region, where we are experiencing some of the meanest cold weather in recent memory.  The severe winds broke my pvc driveway gate this morning, so now add one more thing I have to "patch up" before fifedom goes on the market...

Fifepup's train was an hour late, and other than the dicey road conditions to and from, he made it home in one piece.

Have a retirement party to attend this afternoon.  Not sure Wifey going with me, as she was up late battling the es/et software we installed yesterday, which has brought our computer to a crawl.

Evening all and Happy Valentines Day.

Getting ready to cook steaks on the grill.

Kids will be here so Mrs is pleased.

Cleaned up the back porch and all the furniture. Hit 75 today so was quite pleasant. However, light rain, dropping temps, and maybe some freezing precip starting tomorrow and Monday. This time of year is weather yo-yo here.

NASCAR tonight! The Mrs is to put it lightly, quite ambivalent. Soooo that is a DVR event...

Mike C - so the new rollers don't work so good or will they losen up?

Off the light up the grill.

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work Friday.  Took wife to Applebee's for dinner Friday night for early Valentine's celebration.   Watched "Grimm" that night.   Talked to HVAC people this morning and also flooring people as well.  Went to see "Jupiter Ascending" this afternoon.  Cold here.  Roy, the rollers were brand new, and the old ones were completely worn out.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Aloha. This is a good Valentine's Day to stay warm and indoors. Took the valentine out last eve. for a nice meal. As Kev mentioned, it is very brisk outside. Now to chores and hopefully, more work on my new layout feature, Mt. Moulden.

50 degrees where I am today. You would think I would feel warm but no I am chilled. Beats a foot of snow though.

Saying happy Friday the 13th when it really is, not as much fun as saying it when it's not Friday...Happy Valintines Day.

Morning.  Cold in Richmand VA.  Working Bass Pro Shops this weekend.  Cold and wind chills real cold.  Ugly 4 letter word [snow] mentioned for this evening.  Tomorrow horrible wind chills and temps never close to freezing.  Will not stay long tomorrow.  Head south to Rville.  Forecast for Tuesday in Rville has the ugly 4 letter word in it.

Hello there,

Waiting on my Valentine to wake up. Then we'll take mom and head to Monroeville for the Greenberg show.  Man did I get a good one! !!!

Not much else going on here. Still working through the paper work and trying to decide how to move forward with mom. Work has calmed a little and we're keeping warm.

Tomorrow the gang will gather to enjoy a turkey dinner and celebrate son's birthday.  Mom will be 94 on Monday.

Fife. ...sounds like you're loving the bridge

My Valentine is stirring.  Best move on

Prayers for those in need

Hello all

Happy Single's Awareness Day!

Or, Happy Arizona Statehood Day! 103 years in the Union!

Back at work for another week.

Managed to fix the director's AF 16B trans tonight. Needed a new on/off switch and I put in a new grounded power cord for good measure. Tested it w/ the Marx 666. Just love those Marx.

Finished the last frame repair on the Brill trolley on Wed. before I came up to work. Out of the way of the guys working on the electrical. Next week we'll put the bumper back on.

No work on the cars last week, but did get the newly powder coated bench seat frame for the Corvan to the upholsterer.

KissesMornin' boys.  Downright frigid here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Sent Wifey a dozen roses (real ones, not the plastic lighted versions like usual...) at work yesterday, and she was the cat's meow all day.

Joining some old buddies at the Gardens this morning to send off a retired co-worker.  Nicest guy, tough life however.

Fifepup returns tonight, however I expect later than scheduled.

Working the "bridge", as I call it, has been a natural transition for me.  I try to keep things as pleasant as possible, and even have been making some "M*A*S*H" like morning announcements that have become a hit. 13 weeks...

Stay mooshie.

Kev - that's a good one!

We Skyped with my parents Tuesday and Wednesday night and they couldn't get over how active the kids are between 8pm and 9pm. Well last night I was putting Christina to bed at 7:30pm because "I'm tired being up late last yesterdays"... LOL! She is amazing!

Mornin' Team!

Buckeye - bridge post looking good! Do I detect from the early underside layout shots that you were going to use straight girders?

8nT - nice business meeting! I need some of those! Angel for your wife's extended family.

Mike C - were the barn door rollers the recent reproduction rollers Or did you rework the old ones?

DougdaG - man have I got paper to go through. Dreading the task.

Sunny here today and seasonably cool.

KRM - that Bobcat rescue was a pretty good boondogle, I mean business trip.

Reminds me of the time my boss called me into his office mid-morning one day, saying that we needed to go to a meeting with a customer.  I thought it was kind of odd, as I typically did not go to meetings with our customers.  The meeting was in the pits at Michigan International Speedway on practice day for one of the NASCAR races.  The funny part was calling home to tell my wife I'd be home late - with NASCAR cars at full song in the background.

Cooler here, but not anywhere near as cold as the Great Lakes states.

Some sad news here today.  My wife's great uncle passed away today.  He was 97.

All for now.

Roy, brilliant is my friend Mark!!!  Wink

Wow sure hope RIJack is okay, man you guys up there are getting smashed with the white stuff. Soon if it don't stop,,someone will put a contract out on Chuck.

Thought about Brent today,,,,,,,,,,,

The little guy played hooky today, Acted sick till his mom left then played all morning and never ran a fever. Katie came home at noon and put him to bed and he slept 3 hours and got up just before I headed home.

Brent,,,,he is harder to watch when he is feeling good than he is when he is sick. He is 18 months old now.

Be good. It is good to be grand-pa!!!!!!   Big Smile

Evening all!

Temps to be reasonable here through Sat and then they drop for Sun. Maybe rain for Mon?

Busy week so far and have a project deadline for Mon that I may be able to complete tomorrow.

Looks like Buckeye and Chuck have completely lost control of the snow cannon. Looks like it is stuck towards the NE. Feel bad for Jack.

Kev, hmmmm, tell the wife we have an emergency Bobcat retrieval, then embark on bar crawl trip - brilliant!

Have a great evening all!

Good evening all,

Quiet but good day at work.  Finished up one project.  Walk outside was brisk, but better than expected.  Barn door is fixed.  Wife is happy, but I wonder about long term quality of rollers.  Door is harder to pull than before.   Time will tell.  Got the wife the usual Valentine "stuff" tonight since we are going out tomorrow night.   It is all good.  Should be quiet day at work tomorrow as well.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

It's been a long time since I stopped by. Nice to see I recognize some of the names. Although two months too late, I must report that my nephews are being spoiled with train stuff and their layout looks great. Several loops, several engines and a giant 270 watt transformer from me...an upgrade from thecw80. I'm responsible, but I feel no guilt.

Doug, Ribs sound good.  I got some a while back at the super market where they were cooking them out front on a charcoal fire.  Really good.  Got a Tri Tip last week and cooked it myself.  Got two meals out of it and it was great.  Happy munching!

Howdy All !

Banks, Prayers for sis-in-law and the Mrs.

The BetterHalf and I went out for dinner tonite, found a place that has great babyback ribs. No pun intended but I was in hog heaven.

Spent most of the day purging old paperwork, to the tune of three garbage bags of shredded paper. It was kinda like a race to see who would crap out first, me or the shredder although I did have to stop a few times when it overheated.

Time to sign off, eye lids are gettin real heavy even it is still early.

Later !
