Good Evening, (Late)
Everything went great! Kay did super, her Dr said it was easy sailing for her, and the plastic surgeon also was pleased. She really looked well after she was released from Recovery. Boy, was the waiting room ever filled up, Chris and I, her parents, 2 of her friends were there ALL day, 3 more were there for around 3 hours. She sure has a great support group. So we are ecstatic and extremely grateful ! So we will see how Saturday goes, and she may even come home Saturday. Will just wait and see.
So thanks for all your support !!!

You guys are just SO AWESOME ! Thanks so much for the thoughts and prayers !!! It means a Lot. I'm sure things will go well. My primary focus is support, she has done so much for me the past 11 months, this will be nothing for me to assist her at this time. Even one of our customers of a long time, asked about her, I told him of the situation, and he is dedicating a Mass to her, he is a priest. She cried when I told her. Thanks again and I will post this evening.

Wifey home so chores with her and then gro to get Father's Day meal things. Having it here. Always puts her on edge until over with.

Rainy with storms the last few dayz. Still have been busy as the BEE LINE. Got a truck load eight back hoe scoops of mulch yesterday. Gonna finish the flower gardens today. Yesyetrday while taking my MINNIE dog for an afternoon walk, she got into it with a big ground hog. She was doing well when she dropped it and it then grabbed a hold of her cheek. Tore open a hole in it. Had to take her to the Vet. I stopped the bleeding and Vet said the muscle inside of cheek was a little damaged. Gave us option of irrigating it or use of antibiotics. We choose the anti bios. She'll be ok.
DON BAKER, Prayers for your WIFE. MOM was diagnosed 10 years ago and she will be 91 in November. Went through all the kemo and she was 4th stage. She is doing well and living life to the fullest.
SUBMMBOB, I can't sit still. Maybe one of these dayz?

D. Baker, sending my very best wishes and prayers for Kay to have a good recovery. I have had three sisters with the same problem and they are all survivors. Thank you for allowing me to unburden some of my concerns about my wife when we last talked on the phone. I'm sorry that I didn't know/remember that you have a lot on your plate too. God willing, we will all get through our problems and get on to something more fun like trains.
Good job on explaining the one man swimming pool.

Good Morning All !
First, to clear a little up about the "Portable Pool", don't scoff, it is really beneficial! Don't have to worry about someone peeing in the water, and most important talk about easy to clean.... Just roll it out to the curb and a truck comes buy lifts it right up and dumps it. Wala, instantly cleaned, no fuss, no muss. Heating not an issue, I have found an aquarium heater works well. Oh yeah no fear of drowning either, you are kept vertical most of the time. It is difficult however, for practicing various swimming strokes, I have found it best to practice "treading water".
On a little more serious note, the reference to Kay from the Chief. She has been diagnosed with Brest Cancer, and goes in for a mastectomy tomorrow. We have known for about a month, and been dealing with it and the related issues. She has really been strong through it all, and of course I'm trying to support her every way I can. Fortunately she was diagnosed early and is only at Stage 1. But, because of 2 small locations, it is common practice to remove the entire affected part. As a matter of fact they (Dr.s) all recommended one side only. And, reconstruction begins immediately in the OR. She goes into hospital tomorrow, and should be released on Saturday. Then 4-6 week recovery primarily limited arm movement. So we are as prepared as much as possible, and are certain it will all be positive. (Just a couple of thoughts, I had NO IDEA how many people have been affected by Brst Cancer, the numbers are unbelievable! And, when friends, acquaintances, etc. find out, SOOOO Many have either direct experience or someone in their family has. Truly, mind boggling! Also, don't forget many Men have also been affected.)
Relative to the above, the past few weeks have been somewhat a roller coaster for us. Not just Kay's situation, but her Uncle (like a brother) just had open heart surgery #3, he is doing well and recovery is on track. (Whew!!) Then Chris' situation and the research trip to Thailand for 6 weeks has been difficult as well. He was suppose to leave today, with the political unrest there, and Kay's surgery tomorrow, Chris was able to opt out. It has been difficult for him with the pressure from the school's administrators and organizers, and knowing OUR situation at home. (My leg situation certainly hasn't helped, and he didn't want to leave us, knowing the situations we were both in. So fortunately, he HAS been able to get out of the trip.) Then throw in a few "normal" life issues, and a couple of pre-scheduled presentations we had previously committed too, and it has been hectic. One presentation was last night, it went well and it did keep minds of things.
Don't want this to sound like a "tale of woe", cause it is NOT. We have soo much to be thankful for, and all of this is unfolding itself very well. And for the most part exceeding our greatest expectations. Even my leg is doing well, since I now have the cast, and been encouraged by the Dr to put "some" weight on it. It too is coming along well, I am still using the walker, but now leave the wheel chair at home, and get along great. I see the Dr next Thursday, and wont be surprised if I end up with a smaller cast or maybe even just a brace. Time will tell.
Since I have gotten the cast, I have been able to get out to the train room more. Spent some time this week organizing parts and supplies. Last week I needed some 18v bulbs, had difficulty find them. Finally did find some, and bought a box of 10 for $8. Then 2 days later I find I had 2 other boxes already, in different places. So decided need to improve the organization of stuff. Big improvement. Then was checking out the track/layout. Have 1 spot giving me some difficulty, a couple of engines looses their signal momentarily. Of course the location is where 2 switches are back to back. Trying to determine if it is an electrical issue or roller/track problem, (Only 1 location, ??) Then did run some engines real slow, 2 and 3 mph.. And, was very pleased how well everything was working. (Ran a scale Cab Forward across those problem switches, and there was a brief reaction to the problem area, but momentum carried the engine through.)
Lastly, some of you may know George Watson of TW from Dallas area. (They built/build the layouts for Macy's, Lionel, etc.). Anyway, they are building a layout for a guy here in LA. He is the Producer for the recently released Godzilla film. So George and associates are bringing the layout out here, and going to be installing it at this guys home. So George asked if we could get together while he is here. So we've got some plans in the works for the end of the month. If I get some pictures of it I will post them.
So that's pretty much the situation here.

RT, Your right on target with the ERR stuff, I've done a few conversions, and planning on some more. Just a matter of $.
Doug M, Suggest when you set up your "portable pool", you might want to do at least 2. And what is great is they are readily available in various sizes. That way you and your son can each have one, and may have badminton games, etc..
There were many other items I wanted to comment on but they have slipped my mind.

Nothing new on the weather front, just more rain. This afternoon, the packing/moving company sent a representative to our house to take a quick look at our stuff in order to determine how much packing material to bring on Tuesday. He was here for only 10 minutes so the wife and I are betting they will not bring enough boxes and material for all her dishes and Polish pottery. I will take a day of leave tomorrow so the wife and I can get rid of some more items we no longer need. I grilled steak for dinner tonight and I believe some ice cream awaits me for dessert.
Game was cancelled tonight due to fields being too soggy so I got to practice with "my" soccer girls instead. While the Chief may speak with some correctness on a daily basis concerning soccer versus golf and the amount of interest in each in the US, I can assure all of you that every four years, the world stops to watch the World Cup (well, the world minus the US). What games I can watch, I will. Work was very quiet as one of the talkers did not show and the other left at 2. It was a good day. I hope everyone has a good day.

Fife, Doug I have decided ( yes it don't have all the bells and whistles of Legacy) that I'm happy with buying conventional engines I went and put ERR items into it. At least I know for less than $50.00 I can repair what what has gone wrong. I actually went this route a few years ago mainly because of cost secondly because of hearing all the ones complaining about engines having problems and no parts to repair them. So depending weather I want cruise commander and rail sounds with 2 coil couplers or I just want AC or DC commander and rail sounds and 2 coil couplers ( for diesels one of coarse for most steam engines)
Prior to becoming a err dealer It would cost me anywhere from $180 to $230 for initial install and repairs are
"Should your product ever need repair, return it postpaid directly to The Electric Railroad Company. If the product is within the warranty period, it will be repaired or replaced and returned to you free of charge.
Units out of warranty will be repaired or replaced for a service charge of $30.00 at our option."

the Cruise commander states $50.00 if out of warranty.
So a lot cheaper than going back to Lionel or MTH to get there stuff repaired if they have the parts to do so.
The different sounds range from $25, $30, $35 depending which one you need to replace

I've been patching holes from screws and nails from me and from before me in this room so I can sand them and then paint this room a light blue ( sky blue) then will put a couple of shelves up above the desk and put my B&M train sets on the top shelf as its 10' long so should get both of them on it and then put a set on shelf below it but not sure what set I will put there.
Well need to do a little more patching before I sand and put tape up. Time for this butter yellow to go

Howdy All.
What a great week so far, not. Came down with a bad case of crud Sunday nite so spent most of Monday trying to find something I can take for it. The BetterHalf checked with our pharmacist Monday afternoon and found a couple of items to help. The real hi-lite came on Tuesday morning when at 7:15 am someone was knocking on the door, so I head for the door ready to rip a salesman a new one. Lo & behold it's two county sheriffs, seems that a couple of weeks back there was a stolen vehicle chase and it just so happened to have had my truck's license plates on it. Whoever stole the truck also stole my plates, similar vehicle, and put the stolen truck plates on mine. Oh well, at least the sheriff's dept let me know what had happened and I didn't get stopped out on the road somewhere staring down some gun barrels. Hope to get my plates back to day. Now if only this crud would go bye-bye, yuk.
Fife, I've got a couple of MTH & Lionel in the queue for repair, not to mention the Atlas which nobody has parts for. The MTH I can't even get an IPB to see what part #'s are needed. Hhmm, did I hear someone say "Customer Service".

Humidity and dampness has settled across the Mid-Atlantic region. Lots to do, but kinda stuck inside. Fifepup had an interview with a local dinner-cruise operation, and felt like he did well (he puts emphasis on customer service). Anyway, sounds like a fun gig, which could eventually lead to bigger and better things.
Recently picked up 2 of my repaired MTH 2.0 engines from Klein's. 2 C-notes, but it's better than having 5 C-notes worth of paper-weights... Nobody on my end can answer what's down the line when Legacy and Vision line engines go belly-up...Yikes.
Does anyone out there own the MTH/Premier 64' passenger cars? They are listed for O-42 operation, but I'm checking to see if they can maneuver through 36" curvature...
Aloha. Raining cats and dogs here. But we need it. Maybe it was sent to points east from Japan by JoeD. Bob, 4x6 would be a nice layout. My first layout was 3x5 - a loop with one siding - on a folding table. I enjoyed it very much and still use the table. Hmmm, the Chief gave me an idea --I could have a pool like Don's too.

Not too much new on the train front, except I came up w/ a new 4X6 design that should fit nicely in the living room. Also assembling a 2 1/2 ton military truck that will be a part of the Navy train. Now to find a flat car for it.
