Hi GUYZ,

49 and grrrrrrreat here!!!  Did a 2 miler with my MINNIE dog.  Didn't get my stone yet so back isn't sore.  Hopefully today?  Had a bunch o rain and we are about 7 inches above in the rain gauge.  Gotta do a bike ride this morning yet, 11 miler then mow the grass.

V8VEGA, keep that distributor dry.  Had that problem with my old '65 Rambler.

DON, good news with the WIFE.  Hopefully you are getting back on the mend.

CHUCK & BUCKEYE, TGIF!!!!!

Stay frosty my friends,

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,

I have been tremendously busy this week.  The packers/movers packed up and crated our things this past Tuesday and Wednesday.  We filled eleven crates which should be roughly 11,000 pounds worth of stuff.  We have about 2,000 pounds in storage in the US; we'll have that delivered once we get to Dayton.  We are down to 24 days before we depart and I have plenty of loose ends to tie up at work.

Chuck - I'll email you some photos of the UTB RR.

SJ - Happy Belated Birthday!

Brent - I hope the family is feeling better.

Don B. - I'm glad Kay's first post op check-up went well.

RT - Train Cruise is a weekly show on NHK.  NHK is an English broadcast Japanese station that has a few shows we like to watch.  The Train Cruise show is my favorite.  I'm not sure which episode you saw but this past week's was a two-part show and was extremely neat.

Mike C. - I hope you're having a better day.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good Evening,

First....

Chief take care of the wound on your back, sure don't need an infection.  Prayers your way.

Dennis, from your last post see that you escaped the snakes, good news!!!  Glad the car problem was taken care, could have been worse!

Good to see SJ survived the Birthday, careful on the ice cream, don't want to much blood sugar.

Mike C, dont let a light switch get you done.  Hope the switches work as needed so you dont have to take it off again.

Anjdevil, Good luck with the metting sounds like fun.  Doin a car rally?

Ray, You probably can get that survey on line.  Saw where the electric rate is going up real soon.  Really ticks me off.  And the solar companies have to really be careful with them, another stickey thing that can get real expensive.  And the only winners are the installation companies.

Well, we got through today OK!  Kay had her first post op check up, and she really did great!  The Dr was quite pleased!  So everything is on track and proceding to schedule.  My Dr visit wasn't bad either.  I didn't get my cast off, Dr wants it on for another couple of weeks, then most likely take it off.  For some reason he wants to proceed "with caution", something about an incident last January ? Hmm  He did say to keep applying weight to the leg, and should be able to get to full weight bearing in the next two weeks.  And, walk about 2 hours a day.  (Not at all at once of course.)  Was hoping to get the cast off so I could start using the Spa, but will just wait.

Were suppose to do a computer show this Saturday, but don't think thats going to happen.  We could do it with team work, but neither one of us want to take a risk of something happening.  However, will most likely go to a train meet on Sunday.

So take care and Stay Healthy !!

Good evening all,

Today created a vacuum.  There are too many stupid people in the world, and I think I have to deal with every one of them.   All the time and effort we spent on the back bathroom is going to h--- in a handbasket because some stupid people cannot a d---- thing right.  Wife is tired of all the crap that is going wrong, and then I have to listen to people at work who do not know their posterior from an excavation in the ground.  I just spent a half hour trying to put a d---- switch plate back on, and the six hole plate had one d---- screw that would not line up.   Finally got the piece back on.   Too d---- late for me to be up doing this crap now.  I hope every one has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

PS did get to play soccer tonight, but all the relaxation I got from that went down the drain with that d---- switchplate.

Good morning all,

Dennis, use some of those target practice rounds on the rattlesnakes.  I hate em.  We probably have a bunch in the hills above us.

Chief, sorry you're having so much trouble getting that wound healed up.

Don, way to go getting back at your layout projects.  I haven't spent much time in my garage/train room for the last month or so because of wife's problems.

Got notice from electric company about our high energy use with place to write to for tips but I lost it.  Will have to get another survey.  Our pool filter and a/c pulls a lot of juice.  I have put the pool on off peak hours to run only at night and turned the thermostat up to 78 during peak hours.  Have been using low energy electric fans during those times.  I know the problem with the house is lack of insulation.  Would probably cost a bundle to "wrap" the house with a coating or something and would probably take a lot of years to realize the savings.

Some people in the neighborhood going for solar panels for energy but cost too much for me.

later,

Ray

Good Evening All,

Doing very well here, boat of us.  Kay is doing well, she did some driving today.  Chris made her promise to drive around in our tract before she hit the major streets.  So she was quite proud.  Tomorrow we both have Dr appointments, maybe just maybe, I may end up loosing my cast and just come home with a "cam walker shoe".  That will really be great!  Kay's appoint is a post op visit with her Dr., so Im sure that will go well.

Spent some time working in the train room today.  Have an old AF 596 Water Tower.  It hasn't been working for a couple of years.  I had moved it and a wire broke of the inner coil that activates the water spout.  Of course the wire was the internal wire on the coil next to the bobbin core.  So I completely unwound the wire, rerouted the lost end, then rewound it all.  And even got it back together correctly!  And it WORKS!  Also, had put together a A&W Root Beer Stand a few months ago.  The kit had a balsa wood backing then a thicker piece of wood for the backing.  I had used Elmers wood glue for assembly, well the thin balsa wood piece warped.  And it really warped bad, looks like a potato chip.  So I cut that piece out, and managed to repair the stand.  Looks ok, I have some touch up painting to do, then some decals and it will be fine.

Discovered I having a small problem on the layout, where I have two Ross switches back to back, the Diesel engines are stalling out.  Got to see what is going on, dirty track, maybe a loose rail?  Can't believe a wiring issue, need to check roller spacing, and switch geometry.

Laz, don't forget all those birthdays add up and each one comes at a little cost, so dont over do it.

Chief/Roy, regarding the mayor from San Marino,  I'm sure with the pay and all the benefits that guy is well over 6 figures.  Notice he resigned as mayor, (for city's benefit, but STAYING on the city council...hmmm).  BTW San Marino is where the Rose Bowl Parade is run.

Ray, sure hope things start to work out for you soon!  Don't give up!!

That's it for now, so remember Be Safe and Stay Healthy!!!

Good evening all,

Played well in a 1-0 loss tonight.  Had 9 good touches on the ball, which is very good for me.  Made the mistake of thinking I could be a soccer player and tried dribbling the ball up the field.  Not a smart move.   Work was ok today.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good afternoon all,

Just laying low today trying to clean up odds and ends with paper work.  Called lawyer about getting a living trust and got paper work to fill out.

Stayed by phone all day waiting for a conference call that never came between my financial advisior and long term Insurance  company.  Think we will have to send out the sheriff to get a hold of these birds.  I have tried for two days before this myself.  They don't answer messages or return calls.  However they are right on time when it comes time to send out bills for premiums.

Called old friend today suffering from cirrosis and other things.  Not doing too good.  He was never a drinker so go figure.  We hope to get together soon with a mutual friend.  Not many of us left from the original Thursday night group.  Only about three of us left.  We had at least 20 at one time.

Ate out last night and had a lousy dinner.  Ordered stuffed bell peppers.  It was not stuffed and baked in an oven.  I think they threw it all together in a frying pan and used boiled peppers.  Yuk!

Will cook at home tonight in self defense.

Wife and I are both doing good on walking every day.  Makes you feel stronger.

later,

Ray

Hey Roy long time no see guess you been real busy. Ken at ERR is great on the phone also. He help talk me thru a engine that was driving me nuts. The ones wired by Lionel for ac/dc operations is a little different to wire up as theres a set of wires from the motor wound you need to unhook from the brushes and just leave them hanging.

I still have a light buzz so need to look it over a little more. That will be down the road a bit.

I hope all are doing well

Great news on Kay there Don Glad to hear it.

Good morning all,

SJ, happy birtyday!Happy B-Day

Sad news recently that our former Western Division TCA president and former TCA National President lost his young wife after an illness.  She was a beautiful girl.  They have a little boy probably around six.  Tough on him I'm sure.  Funeral on Saturday.

Going to my first meeting today for care givers.  Hope to learn something useful.

Got E mail from financial advisor this AM.  Wants to call me today.  Sent him a lengthy update on my wife's situation and got a three word reply.  He is more animated in person.  Guess he thinks E mail is like Western Union where you pay for each word.

We have been walking every day now for about a week.  It has been good for us.

Good evening all,

USA!  USA! USA!   What a game!   If nothing else, US already exceeded my expectations.  Was able to watch the game on ESPN3.com.   Nice surprise.  My heart went to my throat when Ghana got the equalizer, but the winning goal was beautiful!!!   With Portugal facing some problems, the US may have a chance to advance.   Doctor's appointment went well. Will have to schedule minor procedure at some point in time, but no big urgency.  Wife is relieved it is nothing serious.  Did get tree trimming done today and oil change for truck.   Started putting stuff away into back bathroom.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Joe D. I accidentally came across a TV show called train cruise its on a channel listed as NHK I got to see a trip on trains in Japan it was so cool but couldn't find any more listings of it so wonder if it was a short run series here on AT&T tv it was on channel 1221 and I see there's another channel also 1239 so need to go check it out. It was a English speaking Japanese channel I believe it is broadcast live.

Good morning all,

Don, glad Kay is home.  Good news!

Spent father's day at birthday party for 94 year old friend.  My kids gave me some gifts and cards too.  I had two lunches yesterday.  One at a reception after church for one of our priest being transferred to another parish, the second one was at the birthday party.  Pretty well stuffed myself but good food both places.
