Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,
I was up early this morning so I could knock out a 12-mile before heading in to work. We had computer network issues so my day was not as productive as I hoped it would be. The high read 57 and tomorrow it is supposed reach 66. The wife has a ladies function at the church tonight so the kids and I are hanging out at home.
Chuck – That is a nice location. We were stationed near Ramstein a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Germany. I hope you were able to explore the area while you were there.
Kevin – If you’re interested, I can direct you to some quality YouTube videos that show good batting drills. One thing I learned when I used FasTrack: don’t screw it into the plywood.
SJ – I’m glad the worst is behind you and that you can see the light.
8N – I hope the wife feels better soon.
Sayonara,
Joe

Hello all
Another quiet night on the hill. Then tomorrow we have an outside receiver group coming in. With at least 4 more people running around the facility that always makes things interesting.
Chief - last time I was up here we had over 24" in one storm. At lot of that has melted though as it has been fairly warm. This has not been a huge winter for us. I'm guessing total snowfall for the season at less than 4 feet.
Ray - we get a lot of foreign observers on the 'scope. Talking to them on the phone can be rather interesting at times. Is the 4014 scheduled to move soon?
RT - you have given me an idea on an engine that I was thinking of selling on the bay. I may take it up to a train store in the Phoenix area and see if he is interested in trading.

David Barker, best wishes and prayers for your surgery tomorrow.
Pretty hot today about 91 degrees. Son helped me clean out the pool filter and it was black inside from all the ash dropped from the air by the recent brush fire in the hills above us. Been playing with chemicals to try and clear up the pool. Getting better but not there yet.
Got some hamburger (ground sirloin) to cook tonight but just will have it on buns. Too tired to cook a big dinner. We ate out last night and had steak and shrimp combo but saved the shrimp for lunch today. Noticed fresh corn on the cob in store yesterday. Nice stawberries too. Had shortcake last night.
Nice program on PBS today with Doc Watson playing guitar.
Got to church late today and had to sit near the back. They will have to mail the sermon to me. I don't have a clue what was said. I know my hearing is a little bad but not that bad. I think it was a combination of bad Public Address System and accent of the priest who is not American born. Not used to him yet.

Good evening all,
Did very little today. Wife and I played a Lionel oriented version of Monopoly today until we decided neither of us would win. Took it easy otherwise. Saw where Mercedes power is the way to go for F-1 this season, at least in the first race. Will NASCAR ever finish a race? I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Don glad you found it. My problem left me scratching my head but it just seemed odd that both were burnt out. I also figured if not it had to be a wring connection somehow.
D.Barker Prayers for you my friend. Wish you the best.
Afternoon all not much going on here today its raining and there calling for more rain tomorrow.
Sold my standard Guage set thru a dealer at the Flea market got more from him than what I would of gotten on Ebay but then again when someone can see something in person its better. Might take some other unwanted items there also and see how they do.
Hope all having a good weekend and again prayers for those in need

Good Sunday Afternoon All!
Sunny and hi 30's today. Seems like this winter is dragging it's feet a bit. Not much going on here. Took the weekend off. My #2 daughter and I stated watching "Game of Thrones" last week. Since it's 3 season's old we decided yesterday to watch 6 hours of it and we are now done with season 2. A lot of action!
Dave Barker - Prayers for your speedy recovery. Please keep us updated often.
Banks - You too. Good luck and hope all goes well.
Kevin & JoeD - Baseball season! True signs of warmer weather!

rtraincollector Don not trying to sound like a mr. know it all or smarty but check the bulbs the reason I say that I received an engine one time the guy said its suppose to have directional lighting but only works one way well after some playing with it I discovered that both of the rear bulbs where burnt out not just one but both I thought that was strange. ( it had 2 in the front and 2 in the rear I just thought that both blown was odd)

RT, I appreciate the advise, no problem! Found out yesterday what the problem is. Miswired ! With the various broken wires I thought that since the lights are in the roof, and the wires are relatively long and unprotected, that if someone was taking the shell on and off, it would be easy for them to get broken. Sure enough, there are three solder posts on the controller board, and the Mars lights, and headlights go to each of those pins, then the bulbs, then the opposite end of the light wire was soldered back to one of the pins. I'm thinking one of the wires going to the lights needs to be going to a ground, and there wasn't. And the solder job was not very good either. Essentially this is how they were connected ( + -> Bulb -> +). All three of the lights negative side were pigtailed together and the wire going to ground was missing. Corrected that and everything works.
Suppose to be very warm here today, probably set a record. Already nice outside, not a cloud in the sky! Would like to do something for the wife, see what she feels up to. Unfortunately there are not any train shows going on, maybe will watch NASCAR with her.
Take care and stay Healthy.
Don
Yes Joe I am jealous, but a horrible winter is behind us now. I'm only looking forward.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill.........
Good Morning, Joe........ I was stationed at River's Barracks, in the town of Giessen, which was 40 miles north of Frankfurt. I was a surveyor for the 82nd Field Artillery for about 6 months and then became the Jeep driver for the Battery Commander for the remaining 12 months.
It is a cold and windy 30 degrees. Going up to 48 today with sunshine.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then I will spend a few hours running trains. Dusting will be needed and relaxing for sure.
The usual breakfast on the dining car.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
Need a cup of Java now,
Konnichiwa and Ohayo Chuck,
We had the usual Sunday morning here. As predicted, the weather is magnificent and it probably warmed up to the low-60s this afternoon. I’m sure SJ is a bit jealous. The older boy and I broke out the baseball gloves and started getting our arms back into shape for the upcoming season. We threw for only 30 minutes; fortunately neither one of us was too rusty so it went well. We might have sore shoulders tomorrow though. It’s time to catch up on some reading now.
Kevin K. – It’s good to see you post again. We too will be starting official baseball practice soon.
Chuck – Where in Germany were you?
Hi Rob.
Charlie – You’re making outstanding progress on the basement. I suppose you have some great motivation to finish.
Good night. Been reclinerizing since 12:15. Watched some more DVR after 11 PM news and weather. Was sunny and 73 yesterday. Low in the high 40's to 50. Rain coming by noon. Lots of it over night. Might be a slight chance of some sleet by Monday AM but then gone. More rain Monday night and into Tuesday. It is already WET.
Prayers for D Barker. His surgery is Monday. [see another thread].
Bob, how much snow do you have up on the "hill"?
A bit windy on the hill tonight, but we are open for business. Looking on the weather maps here, looks like a pretty good storm in the south mid west.
That little Telechron clock has been keeping good time all day.
May work on the directors American Flyer later. Need to fiddle w/ the little fingers on the e-unit again.
Anybody heard from RIJack?
Got the drywall delivered today for the basement. Hoping to keep things moving down there.
Prayers for all that need them. Best wishes for a speedy recovery David.

Nice day trip to Columbus, Ohio. The Sherlock Holmes exhibit was very nice. Wife scored some outfits for her American Girl. Not too much traffic. Local high school boys' basketball team won regional. Weather was good today but supposed to be nasty tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day.
Aloha. What began as sunny is deteriorating into coldness and greyness. At least the corned beef and cabbage are bubbling away and the Guinness is ready. We'll celebrate as a family tonight. Spent part of the day at the range with possible future SiL banging away with his heritage weapons - some almost 100 years old. It was fun. Ray, that is quite the awesome pronunciation you have there.

Mornin' fellas and gals; Hey John; It would be swell if we could get together. Last time i went to the Wayne train show, no one but me showed up! Very disappointing. However, i did have fun anyway. later.
Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
Good Morning,
Wife didn't let me go to work at the show with her this am. So, staying around here, AGAIN!
Yesterday BOB brought over some parts for me to work on. Last week he brought a Lionel Culvert Loader. The wires on a micro switch in the beam area were broken off. So I repaired them and lubed the unit. When he got here I asked how it was working and he said he broke it trying to replace a roller in the gantry!!! He broke a spring and has a replacement unit on order! UGH.
He brought 2 engines yesterday one was a 2-8-8-2 and it had a lense that was missing from a number board. He purchased a replacement unit. It is held in with one screw, which is behind the grain of wheat light bulb. In moving the wireing I broke the bulb!! So now have to get that to complete the job. The other unit is a Lionel GP9, and he said he bought it for $35,(?). But it wasn't working and was told it has some wires that are not connected. So after checking it out, (without documentation) found four wires. Tried to figure where they went got them on and the engine now runs! has Horn! Bell! Dialog! Front and Rear Couplers Work! BUT no lights! So going to see if I can find that problem today.Found/received some kits I'm going to try and put together. A Wooden windmill, and Old time Gas Station/Country Store. Should be fun.
That's all from here for now.Take Care and Stay Healthy!
Chief did you lose the cold yet?
DB - Coffee at 3:45, no wonder you cant sleep, have wine instead.
Morning all. Sunny and already in the 60's. Tomorrow it drops some and rain starts. Then the temps drop. Cold rain Monday and into Tues. Gurgle gurgle.
Banks, way to go with the fish.
Jon, someone told me Chrome tracks everything you do.
Kevin [not KEV, where is he?], glad to have you back.
David B. why you up so early. I was up to let cat out at 5 AM. Got a cup of coffee and two sausage/egg biscuits [in frig cooked yesterday]. The reclinerized till 8.
Have a good one.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill........
Good Morning, Joe............
It is a sunny 48 degrees. Going up to 60 today with sunshine.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then I will relax. I have to email an old Army buddy in NV. We were in Germany in 1961-1963. Then, lunch and a nap.
Usual breakfast on the dining car.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
I’m not sure what happened, but today’s weather was quite warm for this time of year and the high hit the upper-50s. It looks like tomorrow’s high will be 60 so I guess spring is right around the corner. The older son and I took a quick trip to an off-base hobby shop about 15 minutes from the base, but unfortunately the shop did not carry any trains. The shopkeeper told me there was a hobby shop about 30 minutes away that might have O gauge/scale trains but I did not have time to go there today. The wife is out to dinner and karaoke with some of the neighborhood wives so the kids and I had pizza, wings, root beer floats for dinner and then watched Turbo. I hope they can fall asleep at their usual time.
Banks – That is a ton of people. I’m sure you needed the hot tub after that dinner service.
David – The coffee is always on here. In what branch did you serve?
It is 0354 (354am) Please allow me a cup of hot coffee.
Hello there,
Near 60 here today after a high of 25 yesterday.
Spent last evening putting a reman alternator on Mrs' Blazer. It took longer than it should've because I did it in the parking lot at school where it died. Also had to stop and warm up a couple times due to 24 degrees and a stiff breeze. It was noisy for a while but I was holding out for warmer weather
There were 820+ at the seafood buffet tonight. It was a bit hectic but Mrs and I kept up with the fish. They had to close the door at 7pm as a few people were still coming in and we were low on everything. Spent the rest of the evening between the hot tub and online camper shopping with a glass of wine.
Tomorrow is the funeral of Mrs' uncle that passed Wednesday evening.
Bed is calling
Prayers for those in need
