Reclinerized too long. Dogs in and out. It is 16 and windy out. The local "super" meteorologist will die if is does not get down to 9. That is all he can talk about and has been for days. Well what do you expect from a Penn State grad and a PA native.
Guys, still no report from Doug M. or Brent [hope the kids are OK]. ?????
Buckeye, you can use that coal that Santa brought you to stay warm.
Jack, us Yankee fans are trying to freeze your Sox off.
Sleep tight.

Its -22 here with a steady breeze that takes it down to -46 with the windchill factor. The dogs are not happy.
Schools and offices are closed again. Only one of my 7 clients actually made it to my office today. We'll see how today goes.
Jack,
I am familiar with the area that your grandparents lived. Its even colder up there by the way. Its a very pretty area and still maintains much of the character that you remember as a child. Unfortunately there aren't any passenger trains anymore. My wife and daughter drove through your lovely state yesterday. Thanks for warming it up a bit for them

Good Morning, Joe...
It is cold. -6 degrees. Going up to 8 today.
Today is an easy day. Not going anywhere or doing much. Need to catch up on lost sleep. Feel crappy.
Breakfast as usual.

Mornin' FellasI've been checking in every now and again. The kiddos are fine. While not as cold as the Midwest it was down to -1 in Mt Airy last night. Had the fireplace insert burning non-stop since Saturday and now I'm out of wood under the screened porch, so tonight when I get home I'll be pulling some off the pile, and will have to restock the porch supply this weekend when it is supposed to hit 60!Still have not had time to get to the trains...

Good Morning:
+35 degrees, going up to +49 here in Orlando. Thinking of you up North. PLEASE be careful.
Wow, traindaddy. 35 degrees in Orlando. Does this mean that the theme parks shut off the water misters for the park visitors? It is a balmy 12 degrees here, Chief weather, with a high of 20 today and maybe about 4 tonight. One of the region's larger and older heating oil suppliers ran out of heating oil around New Years, leaving its customers in a bad way. Customers in MA and NH, expecting their deliveries, got quite the surprise. They could not reach representatives by phone, then began running out of heating oil = no heat at the worst possible time. That sent them to scrambling to find another heating oil supplier. As you might imagine, these extremely low temperatures were not anticipated by the heating oil suppliers and the result is shortages. Me? I called my suppplier and refueled the day after Christmas. So I am fine. Later, gang. JACK.

Hi GUYZ,
Still zero this morning went down to -3. Got my mountains cut out and spray painted yesterday. Today gonna give them highlites of other colors. Took dog for a mile walk she was cold even with the camo coat on, but no one knew it was us walking around in camo. Soup for lunch today!
ANJDEVIL, so sorry for your loss. .
Stay frosty, I know you are, my friends,
laz57
Minus 11 right now, with sun.
Our high for today will be zero.
That is extremely cold even for here.

Aloha. Basking in the warmth that is -3 after yesterday's -19 ... and ridiculous -46 with the breeze. Jack, I was thinking of your inlaws... I'm glad I cleared the snow a bit more before the ax fell. The bride actually ventured out this morning to get her nails done. I didn't budge. Yesterday, I took the youngest out with cups of boiling water and a spray bottle to make snow and bubbles to blow and freeze. Lasted about five minutes. Whew! Hope everyone is warm. I'll go into the office tomorrow. Lotsa of train problems with frozen switches and crews not showing up.

Just took dog out for a 2 mile walk at 7 degrress not bad.
DOOD, homemade Italian wedding soup Em EM good!
BANKS, nope on the musket today maybe tomorrow? Saw 3 deer taking dog for walk, they were munching on browse.
DOUG, M. I did the water freezing in the AM for the WIFE. It did.
Stay frosty my friends,
I spent the past six hours helping the wife de-Christmas the inside if the house and pack it all away. The final frontier was the cleanup of 3 to 4 gazillion pine needles from the garland and the tree. I love to tease my wife. When she wearily came into the living room, there I stood with a shovel, broom, and the leaf blower. That got a smile out of her. I did use the broom and the snow shovel to get the 90% and the vacuum cleaner to get the rest. By the way, I forgot to put away the trains!!!! :-) Jack.
CHIEF......how are the temperatures in "the box?" DOUG M........I could not stop laughing after reading about your wife's master plan in view of your sub zero weather: she goes and gets her nails done?!? Ha ha ha. My wife would have me drive her in the event there were automotive issues, the only difference. Jack.
Good Afternoon All.
Banks, It is bordering on miracles what some have recovered from. One of my daughter's classmates, at one time they lived across the street from us, suffered an aneurism & a stroke at the same time. He was removed from life support after several months with no expectation of living. Today he is home and learning again how to walk and slowly learning to speak, although he does get frustrated at times. He has a long way to go yet but what has been acomplished so far is astounding.
Prayers for Terry and the family, his passing lands close to home since I also have CHF. The worst part is that I think it is harder on the spouse than it is on the patient.
Laz, Maybe I should go out and buy a lottery ticket or two, I have been searching all over the net for the MTH Railking L&N Madisons. Had absolutely zero luck finding the 4 car set so I thought I'd call the only dealer showing the 2 car and the coach add-ons from the MTH locater app figuring maybe the other would show up at York. Call the dealer in Elizabethtown Ky, he goes to check the stock and lo-n-behold his inventory is incorrect. He has the 4 car set and the add-on coach but not the 2 car add-on. Needless to say I was on them like a duck on a Junebug, should be here some time next week. Now to order the passengers to populate the cars.
Chief, It's the same thing here. The "Official Escondido Reporting" station is almost always as much as 10* different, +/-, from what my protected remote tranmitter sends.
Doug M, Going out for a nail apponitment ? If there were a big trainmeet I'll bet most all of us would be out the door in a flash.
How about those Amtraks that were stuck in snowdrifts down in Southern Il.
Sunday was somewhat of a good news/bad news day for San Diego. The good news, the Chargers won. The bad news, the longtime voice of the Padres, Jerry Coleman passed away. Long time Yankee fans may remember him as the second baseman who joined the Marines at the start of WW2 returned to the Yankees only to be recalled to the Marines for the Korean War. Later joined the Yankee broadcasting crew and eventually came to the Padres. Their loss was our gain, a very humble man who didn't like talking about his time as a Marine Corp fighter pilot but would always support current and past military men & women.
Back to the workbench, got an Atlas Dash 8 all apart trying to fix some lighting issues.
Later all.

Well the response here is about as warm as the temperature I posted last night. I won't bother making that mistake again.
Take Care guys.

I have to agree with Charlie the "all are welcome here" no longer exist.
Finally got all the Christmas decorations put away today.
Went to G.I. doctor today and he scheduled me for a colonoscopy a week from today. Says they have something new for the prep but it cost a lot more and not covered by medicare for all of it. Decided to stick with the old gut wash and bite the bullet. The new stufff requires a smaller dose but you still drink a lot of water anyway. Still have to go on clear liquid diet for a day with either one.
Tried out my new track cleaning car with mixed sucess. Pad falls off on some switches.
Chief, 28 sounds pretty darn cold for North Carolina.
For all of you in the sub zero zone, good luck!

Wonder why after what you said about the CTT Pot over on "your Pot". Sorry Charlie but it wasn't kind.
Now that is over with. Cold day for NC. Back from a Town Hall meeting at, guess where? Warmer but still Yankee cold tonight. Did get in my two mile walk just before sunset. Face froze [had on hat and ear protection] and hands were cold [had on gloves] by finish.
Jack, seems you are holding your humor in all this cold and snow.
Doug M, glad you are doing OK.
Got to call Shake and Bake tonight. He has been missing for a few. Saw a Trains and Locomotives show I DVR'd. Was on western trains. Got to Calforn'i'a and I got home sick for another visit. Oh NO!
Going to watch some TV and eat some popcorn.
Later
Good evening all,
A little warmer today. Going to work tomorrow, but leaving at 7 AM instead of 6 AM (per the driver). Shut off the lights to the outside decorations and got boxes down so wife can de-decorate. Finished the LEGO house. Will look really good with Halloween train. Picked up the truck after having heater core replaced. Nice and toasty. Going to be busy rest of the week. Permit me a comment concerning Charlie's observation. As far as I know, everybody IS welcomed here. I usually post my own activities and occasionally post a comment about someone's else post from time to time. That does not mean I am not interested in what others say. I tend to think everybody else does the same (except when certain people voice their opinions about a certain All-American sport :-) ). In any event, it is good to see the activity level picking up again and hopefully we will be back up to the 3 or 4 pages a day we have done in the past. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
That's strange Chief. Must be more emails flying around.
Last I knew we had parted on good company and I don't recall ever saying anything unkind.
You have made it clear though that I am not welcome here...
Rich......the news coverage of Lt. Lidke and your posts about working with him reinforce just how many lives he touched and how much he will be missed. Jack.

Go back over your posts on your Pot near the beginning and you will see. Sir J said things too. I use to monitor your site. I see you said you were gone but came back. You are welcome to post here anytime. "Maybe it is time we all mended some fences." That would be nice.
Good night all.
Quite warm here @8, going up to 19 fells like spring. Painted my mountain cliffs yesterday now for today to start on the mountain itself. Hope to get that done tis afternoon. Gotta go food shopping tis morning.
DOUGDAGRUMP, great score!!!!!. Let me know if you need anything from YORK in the spring, I have time to find it.
Stya frosty my friends,
Hello all
Another quiet night collecting photons.
Spent some time working on my Eico 221 VTVM (vacuum tube volt meter). Always fun coming back to something almost a year later and trying to figure out what you had done. Usually I take notes on these things but my notebook is still at home.
Will be looking to find several items when I get home:
1) Marx voice controller
2) Marx 6000 SP diesels and a few cars (yes, the E unit, or maybe it's an F)
3) Marx 898
Time to find a pillow before I have to get up and make the drive.

Morning gang. Going above freezing today. 60's by Friday. Wow. Hope all are OK farther north. Warming headed your way. Guess this has killed all those bad insects that have gotten by for a few years [hope so anyway].
Errands today. Have a good one.
