Just a quick stop in to say Happy Mother's Day to all the gals out there.

Kids spent the day here and the in-laws came over to wish my mother-in-law a great day also, real busy day to say the least. Was hoping to visit HusdonJohn today to help him clean up a bit but looks like it might not happen.

Later

Happy Mother's day to all the moms out there.  We took my wife out to dinner last night to beat the rush and today I am fixing a spiral cut ham with scalloped potatoes, corn on the cob, green beans and strawberry shortcake for desert.

Very hot today with highs in the 90's predicted.  Swimming pool is all set to go but still a little too cold for me in the mid 70's

Buckeye, saw your video on another thread.  Well done with the music.

Went to Saturday night 5:00PM mass yesterday but was crowded because of special service for about 40 of the congregation which made the mass longer than usual.  Also air conditioner in the church was broke for the third week in a row.  Very uncomfortable.  Reminded me of that courtroom scene in the movie "Inherit the Wind" about the famous monkey trial.  It was in one of those hot sweltering Southern summer days.  Had to fan myself with the back of an envelope.  They don't have fans in the pews like the old days.  This was followed by a steak dinner at the church center but we passed on that and went to a restaurant.

National Train Week this week.  Son went to LAUPT passenger station and got some photos of 3751 steam engine on display along with lots of other stuff.  Glad I did not go as was crowded and hot.

Chief, my son went to see the same sister of mine in Jacksonville N.C.  The same one we visited in November of 2011.  While there he saw some alligators in or near the New River while fishing with his cousin.  I did'nt know they had alligators in North Carolina.  How long has that been going on.  We moved to Virginia when I was only about 5 years old so did not grow up in N.C.  I thought alligators only lived in Florida.  My son said they saw some in Wilmington while touring the battleship North Carolina.

Have a nice day,

Ray

Good morning fellas

It has been cool around here. They are even speaking of possible snow tonight.

Charlie loved the vid. Really like the triple. Would love to be closer to see the layout. Very awesome. Glad you guys post these pics and vids - gives us rookies ideas.

Kev nice to hear Bud is doing better ... continued prayers for Blaze.

Went to my mothers yesterday for my step sisters 50 birthday party. So I didn't get anything done on layout. The storm door is half hung - turned out to be more work than I thought.

Headed to town to take the misses shopping and out to eat. We are looking at fence and doors ...

Have a great day.

Hope to have some pics later of where I am with layout. Will post to spf

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all the gals.

Temp is a cloudy chilly breezy 43. Spring will not be back till Wednesday. Thank you Charlie for posting the video, you always get some good pics. I feel like someone beat the cra* out of me this morning.  But it was a fun Saturday night. I don't know about Mother's day plans as none of the kids have mentioned it. It's possible that they will still come up with something for her though. Not unusual for them to be last minute.. S.J.

Good morning. It's 61° with 83% humidity. It'll be sunny with a high of 78°.

Today I hope to do more cleanup on the layout. I have no other plans. Today's word is deganágalisgá. Translated it means 'cleaning'.

Good Morning! 60 and partly cloudy. We had some rain but the sun looks like it is coming out.

Happy Mother's Day!

Last night we had dinner at my nephew Brian's house. His wife Liza and him made a great pulled pork dinner. Today it is a goof off day and dinner with the family.

Charlie: Thanks for sharing the video. Great Job!

SJ: The meeting looked like everyone had a great time. I saw some familiar faces from York there. Great Layout!

Brutus: Continued prayers for Char and sister's father in law. Like the Chief said, Char is a hero.

Jeffrey: Take care of yourself.

Kev: Continued prayers for Blaze and Bud.

Have a Great Day!

Hi guys,
Well the travels went well yesterday. We changed the tires and wheels on Blaze’s jeep put the ones we took off on Bud’s jeep and the ones from Bud’s jeep will go on Mark’s new gooseneck trailer. A lot of running around but was good to see Bud and Blaze as well as the ride with Mark and Brain.
Blaze is looking very bad. He goes into the hospital today for prep for tomorrow’s surgery  He will be wearing a bag for 6 months because they don’t want anything going through what will be left of his colon till it is healed all of the way up. So a long fight is still out there for him. Thanks for the prayers for Blaze. Bud is doing much better and was looking good.

Good night all.  Back in time for MIL's Mothers' Day meal at SIL's.

I see I need to go to work on my mountain [with tunnel] or I will never hear the end of it from Kev. Crying

Chuck, late Happy Birthday.  Happy B-Day  Many more. Yes

Kev, prayers for you friends.

Special prayers for Char.  A hero of mine. Angel [and especially as she has to put up with Brutus Whistling]

Rich, smart parents [come to NC a lot]. Yes

Dock is secure.  Weights poured, set up, attached to big cables and pushed off the end.  Did a lot of mowing.   My yard, neighbor's who are on trip to SD and guy's who is up the street that lives in Roseyville and can't get up there.   They had 5 inches of rain in a few hours Tuesday evening.  Washed everything hard.  Lake is up in parking lot and still rising.  Water coming out of VA.  Speaking of VA, where is Pat???  Guy came and filled in ditch [it is a the top of the hill so all water flows away from it] and added stone to big storage shelter driveway.  Now can back pontoon straight back into shelter.

Speaking of pit bulls.  Got another dangerous dog hearing this month and involves a pit bull.  Guy who does not live in our lake house subdivision but mows and does a lot of work for us, his part pit bull attached my neighbor's dog.  Bit it in three places.  Going to be some fuss there.  My dogs were inside when his came through.  His biggest [ a mix named Gizmo] is a good dog.  I was mowing and saw them in my yard.  Told Gizmo, "Go home!"  All three left.  Seems they went across the street and the part pit bull attacked with neighbor's wife watching.  Glad mine was shut up at the time.  Guy is a buddy and would not have wanted to give his dog "lead poison". Surprise

Got one of my Remington 700's back from gunsmith up in VA.  It has been glass bedded and blocked.  Barrel is also floated.  Makes it more accurate.  Took him another one of my 700's.  Reason I take them to this guy in VA.  He is young, very particular and giving him some business.  Also I can recommend his work.

OH, had to go to Wal-Mart while I was in VA.  Had to get Coffeemate, Café Mocha [love it in my coffee].  Can not find it in the gro's around here and up there.  Only in Wal-Mart. Confused  See, forced to shop there or do without. Wink

Weather has been real warm and wet.  Going to change for a couple of days.  Highs in the 60's and one night 40 [Yankee weather]. Sad Thumbs Down

Good evening all,

It was cloudy and cool in SE Indiana today.  Recycled some metal, reffed 2 games, supervised planting of tree from nursery, checked Toro mower out today (major grass plug, engine ok), got some flowers for wife for Mother's day and some bling as well, set up the swings for the grandkids and fixed the tire swing and slide, cleaned some more in the attic and found 3 containers of Duplos for the grandkids to play with.  Long day.  Prayers for Brutus and Char and family.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Didn't get anything else done on the layout today. Watched my niece, her husband and a couple of others take the cover tarp off the pool today. It had about four inches of rain water on it so they grabbed the east end of the tarp and pulled it to the west end, folding the tarp over itself as they went. When they got to the other end they could go no further as there was a massive pocket of really dirty water and a bunch of debris in the tarp and they couldn't pull it up over the edge. So two of them  went to get my fathers 300 GPM Sears gas powered pump. This thing is thirty years old and still works great. They set it up and put the six inch diameter intake hose in the bulge in the tarp and hooked a two inch diameter fire hose onto the output line. Yeah, you can see what's coming. For some reason they were thinking the pump has a variable throttle. I'm here to tell you it doesn't. One of the guys cranked the pump and it started up with a roar. The bulge in the tarp almost instantly shrank to nothing in accompaniment to a loud slurping sound then the guy holding the fire hose almost got knocked off his feet as the hose straightened out and then it knocked him flat on his back as the water shot from the nozzle in a compressed stream that had gone from six inches in diameter to two inches in diameter and it was all he could to keep the nozzle pointed toward the lake. It only took a little less than a minute but I bet it felt more like twenty minutes to him! It was absolutely hilarious! That guy now has a lot of respect for that pump. I know what's going to be on his Christmas wish list. This evening I had dinner in town at Los Margiritas with my sister and her husband. And that's pretty much it for my day.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Well I did some cleaning up on the layout today. At least I can see a little more of it. I also put in an order for eighteen more Athearn diesel horns. I think they'll be here by Saturday. That will be enough for most of my locos to have a standard type. Not much else going on here today. No rain so far today though some small storms have moved through the area. Radar doesn't show anything threatening. I was going to go to the pharmacy to have some prescriptions refilled but half of them show as expired so I'll wait and call them in Monday for renewal. That means going a day or two without but that's what I get for not paying attention to the number of refills. That's just me being nigolagána! That's Cherokee for stupid.

Good Afternoon:

I have been pretty busy the last couple of days, mostly taking Mom to the doctors. So far so good with her! It has been a rainy day here. Yesterday my wife and I went to a late lunch at the German Buthcher and then off to a winery for our Friday getaway.

Brutus, Jim: Prayers for Char and your sister's Father in law. Char has been thru a lot and we wish her a speedy recovery. Kevin passed, Thumbs Up.

Rich: Get well soon!

Dennis: Yes The Cavalier is SOLD!!!!

Kev: The tunnel is coming Great! Prayers for Blaze, Randy and Bud.

Banks: Enjoy Raven. He sounds like a great dog! Good Luck with the test on monday.

Fife: Face facts. Eventhough she does not drive, when are you picking up the Traverse?

Ryan: We refer to them as "Walmartians". I know what you mean. You do not see them much at the Walmart closest to me, but by Mom's house, WOW, a different world.

AF53, Ray: The package has arrived! I told Doray that it must be a Mother's Day gift for Cathy. She laughed and said, "Try again!" Do you think that she caught on yet?

SJ: Enjoy the Club Meeting.

Have a Great Day!

Kev - prayers going to your friends. Cancer has taken a few of my loved ones and friends. It just sucks

Prayers to all those in need on the forum.

Aloha. Grey and really cool. Looks like rain. SJ, I have a bag of glossy aquarium gravel that is just perfect coal. It was inexpensive and works well. Praying for Char, Rich, Brutus's FiL and the rest.

I had a full day yesterday. Left at 6:30 am to beat the Chicago traffic to bring the middle boy to his summer job at Cedar Point amusement park in Ohio. He had to check in by 3:20 pm local time. Didn't beat the traffic but we made it in time, even after having to return once to pick some some things he'd forgotten. Big Smile

I enjoyed a nice leisurely 6 hour drive home listening to various baseball games and interesting local radio stations - especially on AM. The bride has a lot of work for me to do today - probably inside since it looks like rain.

Good morning

Rain rain rain and more rain

I survived Wally World last night.   that place is the Arm Pit of America.  Its not so much the store, its the people that are shopping there.   I know its not right to judge some one by how they look, or the fact that they weigh  700 pounds and hang off the electric scooter three feet on both sides......

Good lord people, get it together...........  I know that I am nothing special, but at least I can hold it together long enough to get through wallmart.

We didnt always have a wallmart near here, untill about 10 years ago.  I can't figure out where these people shopped before wallmart, cause you didnt see them at the other stores.   Its like they came with wallmart,  The place just disgusts me.

(you can tell, I never really did any grocery shopping unitll now)

onto some more positive things, now that in residing in the office (apartment still isnt done) my ferocious WAREHOUSE cat, seems to have switched sides and is now a Domesticated House Cat that lays on the sofa day and night.

We tried to get my trains out of the house today, but all the help I had, we all have open bed pick up trucks and its raining pretty good.   we did get some stuff, but not much.

My clerks husband is turning 60 today, so big party up there.  they live right next to my ware house, so its a quick walk and he likes his Beer  even after the pre party on thursday, there was 8 thirty packs left.  and i dont think too many people are coming today.

time for a shower as the party starts at 12.00

Wow 46 cloudy chilly degrees.

It was 67 in the house this morning, yes I did turn the furnace on. I don't go by the calendar, I go by how comfortable we are. Train room is ready for tonight's club meet. Granny helped me clean mostly dust but a big chore. I hope everyone has a great weekend...S.J.

Banks

Pitt Bulls are much like dobermans. They get a bad rap. It's all in how they're raised.

While looking for a Doberman puppy Mrs found a 5 yo Male Dobe free to a good home. Although very skeptical we went to check it out. We found a down on their luck couple that lost their home. The rental they are living in said pets permitted. But......... after they moved in they were advised that certain breeds,Dobes included, are prohibited by the insurance co. They can't afford to move again so........ Raven is a very loving well behaved dog that's been in our home since Monday. He even knows a few tricks.I felt really bad for them having to give up their dog. So far things couldn't be better.

RI Jack......sent you another PM

Banks......left you a phone message and a PM last night.  I am on the road from now until about 9PM but will have my cell phone with me.  Congrats on your new "puppy" Raven!!!!  He is fortunate to have found you.   I am certain that as heartbroken as the previous owners are about being forced to surrender their dog after 5 years, they have a deep sense of comfort that their pup will be well taken care of.
