MTH's warranties must have all ran out.  Like Dougnotta, I too had gremlins last night.  My 6 year old GP40 with 2.0 started shorting out for no good reason.  Tried realigning some of the wiring under the hood, but no go.  Looks like a trip to Catoctin Trains.

laz - I already reviewed it at Christmas.  In short, very pleased with its appearance and performance.  May have to get the Hogwarts set in the future for #2 princess (huge Potter fan).

Good morning all,

It is cold in SE Indiana with temps in single digits.  Back to work with not too terribly much to do.  Roads were clear of snow and traffic this morning.  TBIL, but some one else will have to drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning.

Back to school, and I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people who aren't that happy about it, considering that Christmas has just gotten over with.

Konnichiwa,

The first day back to work after a lengthy amount of time off is usually tough, but today was not so bad.  I didn’t have too many pressing tasks to catch up on which made it easier.  I was able to catch the Rose and Orange Bowls this morning as well.  The Stanford-Wisconsin game was close and FSU turned it on in the second half of their game with NIU.

Fife – I can only use my future status for good. Smile, Wink & Grin

Happy Birthday Laz!

V8Vega

Real windy out at 9 PM and its a cold wind. Happy birthday Laz.

One of my Christmas gifts was cars from Rite Aid, I think there 1:43 and only $5. I picked out a Chevelle, a GTO, A Cadillac, a T Bird and a early Corvette which were small cars and this is as big as the GTO so I wish I haden't gotten it. My sister gave them to me. You have to look around the store to find them, the store I was at had them in several locations and there are more of different models.

As a follow-up to Dennis's post, has anybody seen any Corvairs in the "low priced" category of 1:43 or 1:50 ? The only ones I've seen were in the $36 to $40 range. Grumpy

Happy New Year to the Pot Crew !

And a Happy B-Day to Laz. By any chance do you have the link to the Youtube clip ?

Jeffrey, Hope you didn't have any beer with those deviled eggs ? Ashamed

Busy day at the museum today, about an hour before closing the head count was 1,600. Well below the "norm" for "Free Tuesday" but it was a steady flow all day long. We had a small portion of the floor space in the corner set aside for our lunch with our spouses which included a pot of Blackeyed Peas. Plenty of good vittles topped off with a champagne toast to welcome the new year, only one glass each so no one would have DUI Checkpoint problems enroute home.

Two MTH engine issues today, first I think may be a battery issue the other is a RK Dash 8 that threw a couple of traction tires. Of course it is one that you have to remove the truck to get to the sideframe screws, so naturally niether the owner's manual nor MTH's site shows which screws to remove to pull the shell. Bang HeadGrumpy

Bob, If you ever get over to the Phoenix area check out the new layouts being done at McCormack RR Park. One of todays runners had some photos of his visit there last week, they are doing a fantastic job.

Forgot my mornin' pills and by the time I remembered, actually when I was taking the stuff out of my shirt pocket tonite, it was to late to take them.

Been a long day and I be runnin' out of gas. Zzz

Nite all. May God Bless.

Sunny and in the 20's here today.  Spent last night and most of today with our oldest son and his wife - exchanged Christmas presends and enjoyed New Year's eve and day.

Thanks for the comments on the digital SLR.  We are still early in research  on this one.

SPMan - the home base of the B2 bombers is about 20 miles west of where I live.  A B2 sighting is not uncommon here, but I still stop, gawk and stare when I see one.  They are an impressive machine.

All for now.

Worked on an F7A today that just suddenly went dead on me. No pop, no poof, no smoke, no nothing! Opened it up to find that the black pickup wire that connects to the frame had burned in two. I stripped the ends, spliced in a new piece of wire then closed it up and tested it. First on the program track to check for any shorts then on the main line for a test run. It works all right now. I don't know why but it seems this problem occurs a lot with Bachmann decoders. If there's any weakness in the wires they'll find it. I've had this happen with a Digitrax decoder only once.

Went to my sisters place this afternoon for New Years Day dinner. It was great. I loaded my plate three times!

Low tonight 40 with a fair chance of rain.

Well, time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

My once a year visit to this corner of the forum--HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you. Good day today. Had my 63rd birthday gathering and Carolina and Clemson won their bowl games. Maybe some of you folks can come up with some interesting topics for the general discussion forum- it has gotten very boring of late.

We had a little sun today but too cold for snow melt. It's 27 now. I spent the last hour and a half of 2012 chatting with Brutus. Stopped and watched the ball drop, kissed granny even though she fought like a tiger. Came back, wished Brutus and family a happy new year and went to bed. No I did not try to kiss him. Our usual N Ys day food, homemade potato salad and sloppy Joe. Goes back to the days when I partied the night away. It was always help yourself  when you feel up to eating...LOL   For those that can still eat tonight, banilla will be waiting...S.J.
