Home from the field [woods].  Saw a buck at about 4:10 this afternoon in my deep woods stand.  Not the big boy shooter.  Then a squirrel stealing my corn.   Only 2 1/2 hours sleep earlier this AM.  Dogs kept getting me up. Bang Head  Rifle cleaned and clothes hung.   Now for some rest and TV.

Glad Dan is here.  Gets to know us and the fun we have.  See, made a friend out this. Yes

Later.

Good evening all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana.  Dan, thanks for clearing up what happened.  Glad to see peace and tranquility restored.  Long day at work.  Lots of lab records to import plus explaining entire process to a new person makes for one tired puppy here. Not doing much in the evening.  No soccer means no fun.  TBIL and I can drive once more.  I hope every one has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hi guys,

George (the cat) got a clean bill of health too, The ulcer on his eye is gone and his eye is still cloudy but it should get better because the blood vessels are growing back into the center of his eye. I was happy and sad,,, I wanted to get him a eye patch and a pirate hat. Pirate The best part it only cost $15.00 today.

I got a reply from my son today on what to get the kids, glad for that. Smile If I knew his children better I would know what to get them but we only see them about 2 to 3 times a year and they are only 35 miles away so I don't what to get them something they don't want or already have.

Joe, so glad you are back. That card thingy is something we have done for years, I just can't break the habit. Wink Joe, a lot of people are telling me that the bottom picture of Sandra and Lexi is upside down. Was it for you. it is fine when I open the file?? Oh but I am still using Office 97 Surprise

Got a visit from a good friend I worked with the last 8 years or so at the Cat. I have not seen him in about 13 months. Well he has been fighting skin and pancreatic Cancer for the last year. He looks good, much older, but still on chemo but he has a great spirit and the best part is his daughter and his grand kids moved into a place not 4 miles from me so we will be able to see each other a lot more than when he was 35 miles away. It is funny, Randy and I had nothing in common, he was a health freak, worked out and is a avid biker, He has been in many bicycle races all over the USA and been hit by a car, he never did any kind of work other than office stuff. Me I was an assembler, drank beer smoked the good stuff worked on cars, and motorcycles, but yet we became the best of friends?? It must be that we envied what the other's live style had been? Togeather we did great things at work. Now he is fighting for his life like my pal David did and I am just coasting along? Huh? Please send up some prayers for Randy Johnson, Tks,

Jeffery prayers for your mom and dad. DJ Tyler and all others in need. Angel

You guys are a great bunch, and I thank God for you every day.

 I am beat. Sleep

Howdy guys - nice to hear from Joe and everyone.  Just a slow day today - we had a long meeting at work and I was trying not to doze off right in front of our big boss (director).  That would have been BAD Laugh  Had a great talk with the guys tonight, but no world problems were solved.  Char got her IPad and she's finally got everything loaded on it and only has like 25 percent memory left - now she is glad I made her get the one with the most memory on it!  She needs to get a screen protector for it ASAP though.  My buddy has an idea to put a small shovel on the front of his lawn tractor, like a small bulldozer that would lift like gravel or loose soil - maybe 40 pounds or so at a shot?  He wants to put a frame on it and use a winch to raise it.  I think it could work, but not sure the frame of the mower will take that kind of torque?  He might have to beef it up a lot.  Sounds like a fun project, though!  TARDIS is about ready, we are loading the banilla tanks even as I write this, so we'll be around in just a few minutes.  Beacons on!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Partly sunny and high 60's today.  This can't last much longer.

Just molding plaster 'rocks' and laying el-chepo plaster cloth (plaster of paris & paper towels) on my P.E. layout.  About 1/3 done.  Needs to be done for Saturday's show at the museum.  That business trip I was on last week didn't help this cause much.  Oh well, being a winter scene, at least the ground cover will be easy.

All for now.

Mornin' boys.  Still mild and 59 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Busy last night at work.  You can tell the forty-seven percent got their funds.

Wifey is having a hard time tracking down one of these:

Anybody seen one collecting dust at their local hobby shop...?

Banks - Ideally, Easter '14. Realistically, Memorial Day '14.

I think that I might have seen one around here in Towanda, but I don't remember where exactly.

Good morning. It's 58° with 100% humidity. It'll be cloudy with a chance of rain. The high will be 68°.

I hadn't run a train for quite a while so last night I took a minute to give the rails a quick wipe with a dry cloth then started up a thirty unit freight headed up by my three F unit Frankenlocos and saw immediately that the second loco, the heavy puller was being dragged. A quick examination revealed that the right pickup wire on both trucks was broken. Despite the fact that the trucks were made by different manufacturers (Athearn and Life-Like Proto) the fix was made easily and quickly. It looked as if the wires had shrunk! Is that even possible? Within five minutes the three locos were hauling that heavy train like it didn't exist. Maybe today I'll run the GP7's and GP9's.

Aloha all. WInter is back in a sunny Chicago but i don't mind. Nice, if too short TARDIS ride last night with DJ, Brutus, Charlie, SJ, RT and John. Feel more awake today. Looking forward to a lunchtime lecture at the Art Institute. I have to find some Chet Atkins to listen to - never heard his music. Prayers for Tyler if he has chemo today. Ray, glad you had a clean bill of health.

Kev, isn't that neat about friendships? I have a few good friends like that too - we're completely different yet like each others' company.

Slow start today,

DougM is right winter temps are back.

I have been Christmas shopping online this morning for toys for the Grand-Kids. Tongue Tied I have the three on my son's side now covered. I like Amazon.com, it makes life easy when you live 20 to 50 miles from any kind of real stores.

Yeah Doug it is neat. One thing I liked about working at the Cat was there were so many people and all different. If you got burnt out on someone there were all kinds of others around to talk to. When I hired in back in the early 70s there were over 5,000 working at Aurora and 150 on the assembly line I was on alone. Randy is a special friend, we bounced off each other well. I have another good one Raj Velji he was new to the USA and I met him when I was working in the engineering group he claims I made him an American Bas*&ed Whistling Taught him all the bad things he needed to fit right in. Laugh He is going home to Inda for the first time in 20 years this Christmas.

Well back to the mouse.

No train news, things are slow down there till money frees up after the holidays.

 Later guys.

We have 32 degrees and bright sun. 39 for the day.

Doug you would enjoy Chet's music but don't expect rock and roll. He was a recording producer for RCA in Nashville for many years and his music will calm the beast in you. Two good albums if you could find them were made with Les Paul. Entertaining and well done. He also did one with Mark Knopfler that is good. I have no schedule for today so I will as usual just wing it.I do miss being able to spend time outdoors..

Happy Hump Day....S.J.

Ran the GP7's this morning. No problem with them. The GP35 I run with them however was a different story. It was having pickup problems. A quick examination revealed that the jumper wire from the front truck to the rear truck (left rail pickup) had broken loose from the rear truck. The right rail pickups on the trucks are connected through the frame so no wire there to give me problems. These are Proto 1000 trucks so very similar to Athearn. A fifteen second soldering job fixed the problem and I was able to put the loco back in service. Moving on to bigger things I started in on an ex-UP Atlas FP7 that was in need of a decoder change. It already had an operational decoder in it (Bachmann) but it had no speed table control, therefore I couldn't speed match it. It's going to be used as a trailing unit (behind an F7) so it doesn't need a light. Just so happens I have this Digitrax DZ125 decoder with a burned out light function, so...  I put that into the FP7, did the initial programming then speed matched it to run with my SP Daylight F7A that also has a Frankenstein claim. Would you expect anything less of a loco I own? Stewart AAR trucks. The F7 is a relative lightweight. The FP7 brings the pulling power to the party.

Howwwwdeeeee,

Not getting much done yeterday or today, spent a bit of time getting some periodontal work done yesterday so the permanent crown will be more effective and reduce the risk of it possibly causing other issues down the road. This soft food diet for two+ days sucks. Grumpy

Fife, The "red " Santa Flyer is in extremely short supply, I thought I had one lined up but like an idiot I thought I could wait a day and get it when I picked up my repaired NPC Docksider. Dunce Bang Head Grumpy

The green Santa Flyer seems to be quite readily available, but my preference was/is for the red version.

Kev, You need to stick a red nose on that rack holding the rifle. Smile, Wink & GrinAshamed

Good news! My mother opened her eyes today. He can't talk but she apparently can understand. She can move a little but can't sit up.

Ran the GP9's today then ran the old Atlas GP40 and the two Atlas FP7's. The older FP7, a 70's era model, is one I remotored. I had to do some surgery on it to shoehorn in an Athearn motor. It's running great. The old GP40 (70's era Atlas with Bachmann body) sounds like an old man with chattering teeth but it runs well. Here's a short video of the three in action.

I have to take my father to the dentist tomorrow. That's five hours shot!

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow sometime.

Nope! It's not a Bachmann! An Atlas in Bachmann clothing.
