Gents,

Please allow me to apologize to you all - I was acting in what I felt was good faith and within the scope of the guidelines we're given to follow.  Not being a frequenter of this part of Trains.com I was unaware of the flavor of banter between you all.  To Chief Eagles - I apologize if what I did ruffled your feathers.  The last thing I want for/from you or anyone else in here is to drive you to another forum.

Again, please accept my apologies.

Thanks,

Good morning. It's 67°, 100% humidity and very wet. It'll be mostly cloudy with a fair chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. The high will be 75°.

Looks like a good day to get started on changing out the decoder in one of my GP7's. First thing on the list is to go through the CV's and write down the settings so I can program the new one properly. I have no other plans for today except of course to stay dry.

Good Morning:

The Dynamic Duo let me sleep this morning. I got up on my own at 6:45. Of course Mack was at the foot of the bed waiting patiently and Chester was outside on the porch waiting by the door for our morning walk. Today it is off to get dog, cat and rabbit food, take Mom for a MUGA test and then off to school.

I agree completely about the censoring. It has gotten ridiculous. When I posted about my Mom's type of cancer, it was bleeped out not once but twice. It is common to see *** CANCER awareness posters all over including GRAMMAR SCHOOLS!

DJ: Prayers for Tyler, you and the family.

Jeffrey: Prayers for your Mom, you and the rest of the family.

LV: Have fun with the Christmas layout and good luck with School. I have great memories of High School. Too bad they were not of scholastics or sports accomplishments. Just typical screwballs of the 60's.

RI Jack: I know what you mean about being in the hole for Christmas Decorating.

Chief: I wish your the best for your blood results and good luck on the hunt.

Probe: I sent you a message. Maybe you can help.

Doug M: That is cool that your R was from Madison Hardware. My R came from the Hobby Depot in Elizabeth, NJ.

Kev: Good luck with the doctor's appointment for you and George. I have a Dixson Single Cylinder Wireless Tach. If you are in a pinch let me know and I will loan it to you, just send it back when you are done. I use it all of the time. Works great.

Brent: Christina reminds me of my daughter Michele. She was into trains when she was young also. She would get sick and throw up when she was that age also. We still have her pink engineers hat also.

Joe D: Keep the reports coming from Japan. I enjoy reading them.

BOC: Speedy Recovery. I miss the old drag photos.

Dan: You sound pretty cool, Just join in.

I would hate to loose the Pot. We have become more than just cyber friends. Many of us have met and we have at least one thing in common. I see that we range from High School age to Retirement Age.  All of the banter is just for fun and personally, I enjoy it. Just my My 2 Cents

Have a Great Day and Banilla for all!

Aloha from a grey and warm Chicago. Always enjoy starting my day with a cuppa here with you all at the Pot. An anonymous donor treated our church leaders to a fancy dinner last night and I got to go too! Ate too much good food and had a nice time. Must write a thank-you note today.  Certainly doesn't seem like the holidays with this warm weather but I guess it will change later this week. Got some more ideas to try out on the layout from the TARDIS crew.

Well CHILDREN it's 60 degrees with a little rain. I have some Chet Atkins music on, he was the best. #1 son's FIL is having an artery cleared in his neck this morning and granny is with DIL at the hospital. John I guess we can't say b**** feeding either..LOL. I bleeped it myself, saved the software the trouble. We need to do some shopping but granny and I seem to be filling the December calender with other stuff. I shall enjoy the 60 degrees and watch the temp go down today. Not sure Fife - but I think it has an elastic band in the back... it is too big for her right now, but I simply don't care - and neither does she. When I asked her if she wanted to take her hat and flatcar to show PopPop on Sunday she was emphatic YES... so not being able to stop at his place really bummed me out.

Oh Boy... BOC as far as stupid injuries go I think I've got you beat... not that I am competing for this title...

November 2009 I was working late into the night on our sunroom addition. I was cutting trim boards for the outside, it was dark, I was tired, and just had to 'make this one last cut with the circular saw'... well I made the cut, but as I was setting the saw down I placed it on my left leg - yes still running! Got a nice scar to prove it, but still have the leg.

April 2010 - 4 months to the day - I was working on hanging the screened soffits on the screened porch (same addition), well I was up on a step ladder about 4ft (keep in mind the $250 A-Frame ladder was behind me), I was using my left shoulder to leverage the soffit into place and the right arm was holding the 18-volt Dewalt Cordless Drill - as soon as the screw bit into the rafter I knew I was going to be hurting... landed on the landing (2x8 frame - not going anywhere and not giving a single millimeter), left arm out... well broke my humorous, radius, and every bone in my wrist. Required 3 surgeries - one the day of the occurance to reset everything, then a carpal tunnel release to relieve the pressure on my wrist, and then another to put everything back together using titanium plates and screws.

As some of my friends informed me the sunroom/screened porch addition nearly cost me an arm and a leg...

Hope you heal quickly!

Brent......I certainly am glad you got in this pre-emptive descriptive of your two trips to the disabled list doing house projects.  It saved me from a lot of typing and over-embellishment of the facts. WhistlingLaugh

BOC.......I think there are some National Football Leage teams with fewer players sporting casts than you have in the past six months or so.  Like Brent, you don't give one snafu a chance to heal before you bring on the next one and return to the disabled list.  I am in pain thinking about this one.  Slow down! Angel

Busy working on the GP7. I'm about halfway through changing out the decoder. After removing the old one I turned it over and found the reason the light circuit wasn't working properly. It's got a really ugly burned area on it.

Kev, we have 7 cats that roam our wooded property. I make sure they are all fixed and shots are current.  when its shot time, I wrangle them all into the basement, and have the Mobile Vet come out, and we run though thier van like a cattle coral !  The mobile Vet isn't the cheapest, but it sure beats trying to take 7 animals to the vet's office at once.  What I find funny is that they send us the post card reminder that there due and request we get a stool sample (can we say that on here?) we don't even have a litter box! the cats come and go through the cat door as they please, and do all there business out in the woods.  Even our "house Cat" runs out, goes and comes right back in.

They have all taken quite the interest in what I'm building in the basement. Aperently, they think my benchwork is a giant jungle gym for them to play on, claw and dangle off of.........

Gues I need to put the door on the room sooner than I thought

The holes in the gears should be slightly smaller than the axle diameter so the axles are held in place. I think if you look closer you'll find those gears are split. Best thing to do is replace the gears. It's easy to do. The hardest part is getting the wheels in gauge and that's a snap if you have a NMRA HO standards gauge. You can pick one up at the LHS or online for around $12.

Ryan, George our cat also has no cat box and comes and goes as he pleases. He has our 8 acers to himself and if the weather is nice you may not see him unless he wants to eat.

I have had that same conversation with our vet. I don't think I have ever seen him placing a sample let alone be able to find one. Ick!

On the + side he does not seem to want anything to do with the train table so far. I think he is scared of them running him over, and he flies out of the basement when I blow the 681's whistle tender. Laugh

GLORY BE! It's dark here too! Temp is 68 and it's a bit damp.

Finished installing the decoder in the GP7 early this afternoon and took a few minutes to program and and test it. Everything is as it should be.

Had dinner with my father today. Chicken pies, home fries, corn, green beans, onions. He's an emotional wreck right now and I can't say as I blame him. At last report there's still no change in my mothers condition. She's still in a coma and they don't know why. This has been hard on the whole family and we're all showing the effects of it.

We still have thunderstorms rumbling through here, some rain but not as much as we need.

SJ this is a coincidence! I had a Chet Atkins CD on today, called "The Magic of Chet Atkins". One song not on the CD is his " I Write Your Name in the Snow". Do you know that one?

Chet Atkins was very smooth and easy to listen to.  I have a couple of his albums.  used to enjoy his appearances on the few televised versions of Prarie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor.  He appeared along with a great fidler who's name escapes me at the moment.  He was from Texas and I think he used to play with Bob Wills.  I just remembered.  It was Johnny Gimble who is 86 now.  I looked him up on the internet.

Got a good report from my doctor today.  Lost 9 pounds since last visit and triglycerides went from 411 to 302.  Still have a good way to go but making good progress with my diet and excercise.

Ohayƍ,

It was pretty chilly this morning (I love it) and there is no rain in the forecast.  The sun is shining so the football field should be in playable condition for tonight’s flag football practice.  I had a quick run and gym workout this morning.  I have a brief meeting at work this afternoon and not much else on my plate.  The wife will be making pierogies for dinner tonight which is a huge treat for me since she is not a huge fan of them.  They are very popular where I grew up due to the massive Polish and Eastern European populations, as well as Mrs. T’s being made in my hometown.

Dan – Welcome to the Pot.

Mike C. – I was agreeing with your post until you wrote about that soccer stuff. Smile, Wink & Grin

Jeffrey – Your father’s emotional state is certainly understandable.  Your mom and your family are in my prayers.

DJ – I hope everything goes more smoothly with Tyler’s upcoming appointments.

Kev – Thanks for the card.

Sayonara,

Joe
