Hello all,

Not much happening since I checked earlier.

Jeffry. Are those axles one or two piece. The loco in question I bought in 83 (I think)

Took Mrs to Chiropractor and out to eat. Now I'm waiting on fire to catch up before topping it off & heading to bed.

Kev , nice setup you have there.

Son has a 2007 CaseIH JX60 4wd. Like you he couldn't justify the cost of the cab. It was about 40% more if I remember correctly. We added a 9 foot snow plow to the front of it. It will definitely move some snow. We also have an 8 foot plow on the front of our Massey Ferguson 245. Being only 2wd it is so so in snow and helpless without tire chains. As a last resort we also have a rear scraper blade for the old Oliver Super 55. Used it a lot before we bought the Massey

Sunday AM is local train show in Richland PA.(near Johnstown) about 30 minutes from me. I'll be there when they open at 9 Pm will be spent washing outdoor windows and finishing fall cleanup.

Well I'm gonna fix the fire & head t bed. Will be hunting tomorrow.

Prayers for those in need

They are two piece. Each wheel is on a half axle. The two half axles are held by the drive gear.

Other than doing the first half of the grocery shopping I didn't get much done today. I discovered I still have rather intense pain in my upper back. Guess I must have pulled a muscle when I was shifting my mother around.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 60.  January issue of CTT was outstanding again.  Standard gauge article two issues in a row and another Collectible Classic article on AF item.  Some good postwar articles and a nice prewar re-issue product review as well.  I think CTT is on a roll!   Even the project layout looks doable and affordable.  Totally worthless day at work spent in an all day that accomplished nothing.  The only good aspect is that no one else was at regular work to add to my pile of stuff.  Was hoping there would be some progress on that which I cannot talk about (yet), but alas, no discernible change.  Actually found out some information (which if accurate) may go some distance in explaining how the current state of affairs occurred.  I know this is all very cryptic, but perhaps in a few months I will be able to describe more of what is going on. Been doing some Christmas shopping, mostly online.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Another big congrats for JOhn and we will be blowing the foam off our mugs (of rootbeer for Chief) tonight!  SJ has permission to do loop-d-loops until we can't stand it any more, so Mike better belly up too Smile  Had a nice chat with the guys tonight.  Just a loooong day at work today.  At one point I thought it was 11 and it was only 10 AM?  Dang!  I traded in some returns at HD on plumbing supplies I never used etc.  Got a $44 credit, which I used to get a new 3 step ladder for Charlene, some bags of dirt to use as snow-ballast this Winter, and a couple new measuring tapes as I seem to lose or break these things all the time.  I wonder where the good ones go?  Probably an alternate universe where some of my socks have gone too?  A little electrical work and some bead board etc to put up this weekend, but tomorrow I know we are going to the glasses place to pick out new glasses with our new prescriptions.  Char needs cheaters, but she made it a whole year without glasses so that is pretty good.  TARDIS is ready - let's get rolling!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Kevin actually theres a good reason for Jeffery  to lock it at one time we ran a continuos coffee shop and we have had folks still posting to the old one that hasn't been locked up to a week later when Bob would have to come in and lock it as we would lock it if they went back to a earlier post they still could post so they need to do a administration lock on this or they still would keep posting as a lot like me save the last spot posted on the coffee pot and just goto it not thinking and start typing.

Morning all.  Wifey wanting to do more outside decorating.  ?????  Yard is full.  ????  OMG!!!!!  Been lazy this AM.  Drank coffe and read over OGR.  Nice thing on bridge hinges and etc.  Jon E. and I discussed it and other things this AM.  Always good to chat with [he is in heaven babysitting Grandkids] him.  Better get moving or will get the noise from Wifey.  Got a "one liner" in high school play tonight [a Mayor thing].

Was up at 4:20 AM with pistol [with lazer] in hand.  Alarm was going off.  Checked Box and nothing disturbed nor inside.  Strange.  Did it one time before.  Think it was a plastic bag that time blowing from A/C unit and set off motion detector first time during summer.  Has door and window sensors and two motion detectors.  Back in this morning after getting up with an inspection showing nothing.  ?????  Gun safe alarm is tied in with the Box.  It is fine.  Reset fine so nothing ajar.  ?????  OH, Wifey released the dogs as backup.  Can you imagine being charged by a massive Goldendoodle down to a yapping Yorkie. Confused

Great buy Fifey.  Smart move.

Later.

I can. They might be better off facing off against my sisters dogs. A black lab, two Golden Retrievers, a pit bull and a massive blue Great Dane. Better yet, the intruder could go to my parents place and get bothered to death by two ferocious yapping poodles!

Morning. Not a good one either. It's 63° with 94% humidity. It's mostly cloudy. The high will be 78°.

My nephew had one of his parties last night. It started off quiet enough but later as it grew came this strange need for it to become louder. About 9 pm it was getting really loud then something happened. It got even louder if that was possible. I could see things on the shelves actually vibrating! So I went over and asked them to turn it down. This was about 10:30. They complied and I got a little sleep but was constantly getting woke up about every 30 to 45 minutes. Then at 1 am they kicked in with the big guns! The amps must have been running flat out! DVD's were falling out of my wall racks and my emergency lantern was starting to swing on it's hook. At 1:30 I once again asked them to turn it down. By this time they were drunk enough that they had no respect for anything or anyone so naturally that didn't work. Well, I decided I might as well enjoy their bonfire. I was there until about 2:30 then went back home. Somewhere between 3:30 and 4:00 it stopped. In total I got about four hours sleep. Perhaps someday soon I'll have a chance to revisit some of their 'hospitality' on him. Maybe some late night appreciation of some big band music from the 30's and 40's while he's trying to get some sleep prior to going to work. Oh, revenge is a dish best served cold. Big band music is best appreciated at a life like volume level. In other words, loud! He hates big band music with a passion! That's just too bad as I'm rather fond of it.

I'm not really sure what I'll be doing today. I may try working on the layout a bit or I may just go back to bed. Failing that maybe a trip to town later to get one of those new Domino's deep dish pizzas. I haven't tried one of those yet.

When our American Foxhound, Belle, was still alive (died a week or two back Sad, likely from cancer) you couldn't come up to our house without her barking. That was until she took a turn for the worst and her condition went down hill.

I don't think Spunkie (our fourteen or sixteen year old beagle) is going to pass for another few years at the absolute least. She has a bad ankle, but she would probably be jumping off the walls had it not been for that.

Leo seems to be doing fine as well. He is a really heavy basset hound (but then again, they are couch potatoes, so I'm not really surprised) and he has his energetic moments.

Valley, sorry about Belle.  Spunkie sounds like Burg [the old Lab].  Thought he would have been gone over two years ago.  Band joints.  Still gets up and does his thing slowly.  That is unless a squirrel pops out and he is a kid again.  If Mirra [the cat] comes inside the fence while he is around, give her a chase but it is a game they play.  Outside the fence and in the house, they are OK.  Leo sounds like Lucy.  A medium size dog [size of a standard beagle] who reminds you of a cat as she can walk on the back of the couch and etc and never fall.  Rides standing on the the golf cart seat back at the lake and never falls. She is now getting chunky.  Wiley is the newest.  Less than a year old Yorkie [Wifey's baby] who thinks he is as big a Finn [the massive Goldendoodle] and barks everything agressively.  Yes, a house full of animals.

I remind myself that if my family hadn't adopted her in, ohhhhh, maybe 2000, 2001 or 2002 ( I was little when we got her), she might have been put down on the same day. The fact that we adopted her automatically gave her about another 12 years to live. And she's out of pain, and that is the way to look at her right now. She also was so hyper that she would not only chase her tail, but she would drive herself horse just barking at it. This stopped a few weeks before her death, when she was acting tired and worn down.

Again, everyone else is doing good.

V8, we just keep our guns unloaded in a closet on the second floor. Ammo for them is on the first. Also, you have to look at the barrels of the guns to figure out which is which. For instance , our 30-30 look similar to our 32 Winchester Special.

Happy Saturday:

First day of retirement is great so far. Doray and I went to a Craft Fair in Point Pleasant Boro, another in Island Heights, toured the Summer Cottage Museum, had lunch and she opened the Ice Cream Shop. I am now going to clean the front yard leaves and start cutting up the trees in my backyard from Sandy. I located my 26' boat in the marsh just on the wood line about 1/4 mile or so from the Bay. Now to figure how to retrieve it.

Chief: Thanks for the Special Coffee Pot.

Everyone have a Great Day!

Chief, I would pity any intruder who has the nerve to enter your box with all that firepower and the managerie of animals at your disposal.  Your story reminds me of one told by the late Ward Kimball (Disney animator).  He had a separate building for his trains with motion sensors etc.  One night an antique wind up (clock work) train got loose some how and set off the alarm.  Ward had a lot of funny stories.

Rain is over for now but more possible they say over next few days.  We had enough rain yesterday to test out all of my drainage systems since the block wall went up.  It all worked well.

Happy December 1st,

Ray

Greetings Y'all From Overcast and Flurried Taxachusetts,

Been under the weather for the past few days. My annual severe cold arrived earlier this week, good thing because I have that out of the way for the Christmas and New Years events.  Got this one courtesy of my son instead of the grandchildren for a change.

Spank......hope Tyler is continuing to make progress.  I think of him every day and of your family. Angel

I am several days behind on Pot posts but wanted to offer my congrats to HudsonJohn on his retirement!! BeerBeerBeerBeerBeerBeer  You had to go out and find your boat?!?!  Yeow!!!!! Surprise

AF Ray........hope your wife is recovering nicely from her surgery.  No fun. Angel

LEHIGH........it is tough to loose a faithful, long time companion like Belle.  The hardest decisions, but the best ones.  My wife and I lost both of our dogs unexpectedly three days apart this time of year four years ago, had to put them both down.  My wife was despondent for days, and the house seemed so empty without them.

SJ..........hope Granny has completely recovered from the crud from last week. Angel

FIFE DOG........you sly dog, you.  Congrats on the big score!!!!  Now you are a land baron.  Hope you can take advantage of these historically low interest rates for your upcoming building project. Thumbs Up  No......I didn't win the lottery either. Sad  BTW.......my wife is likewise a Yankee candle addict.Bang Head  At least she gets coupons and also only buys them when they are on sale.  We have like a dozen of the large ones in inventory at all times in addition to about a half dozen located throughout the house.  This time of year (holidays) it smells like a pine forest in my house with cinnamon sprinled in for good measure.

Chief........prayers for your buddy.  What an interesting and long life he had. Angel

Jeffrey......you were driving when you were 12? Surprise  No wonder the population of Louisianna was so low back then. Smile, Wink & Grin  Lots of two legged road kill. Laugh

KEV......I never read back enough to find out if George the Cat's eye healed up.  Hope he is OK.

Ryan......thanks for the layout pics.  You are off to the races.  Nice work on that console and your benchwork. Thumbs Up  I think we can overthink a new layout to the point where getting started is the hardest part.

BOC........hope you are feeling better and are now fattening back up. Angel

Later, gang.  I am off to a Christmas party in a bit up in New Hampshire with the wifey.  I am the designated driver while my wifey gets to splurge a tad with a few frosties.  She is a terrible drinker by my standards.  She nurses a drink so much so that it evaporates faster than she drinks. Laugh  Maybe she thinks I would take unfair advantage of her if she overindulged..... Smile, Wink & GrinStick out tongue

Fife,

You know the Steelers can't possibly win tomorrow with how they've played recently. You'd think the ugly uniforms would distract the other teams.Smile, Wink & Grin

LV,

Sorry to hear about the passing of your dog.

Finally getting caught up on projects here.  Sold and shipped the 313 bascule bridge the other day, and I've never had that kind of a challenge packing an item before.

Got the 322AC running as well. A previous owner tried to "fix" it at some point. The result? The connections on the plug end of the harness were mixed up, the wiring to and from the reversing unit was mixed up, and the screws that secure the tender body were crossthreaded.Bang Head Three of the four holes are fine after using new screws, but I'll need a 6-32 tap to fix the fourth hole.

Saw that Tom Barker's Flyer service manual is being printed again, so I picked one up. Before this, used copies were bringing crazy $$ like the MDK Lionel/Flyer manuals do now.

Good afternoon all,

Just got home from work and the weekend can start. Tomorrow I'll start to decorate the layout for Christmas. I hope everyone had a chance to read Northwoods story over on "The American Flyer Tale" thread. It's a great story and well worth the time.

Kev - We just got my daughters due date and........July 18th. Couldn't be much closer if we tried.

RI Jack (and others) - Thanks for the well wishes for Cathy, I pass them all on to her. She's doing ok and I believe she gets the staples removed on Wed.

HudsonJohn - Let me know if you need any help with the boat.
