Evenin' FellasWell we are not waiting for TheQ's certification test results. When she got home I asked her if she was certified... she said she won't hear the results for a couple weeks... I said since she came home she must not be certified... she totally did not get it. This morning I went to get my car's emissions checked. Drove 30 minutes to Frederick only to find that all test stations were closed today for Columbus Day... On the way home Christina and I stopped by the LTS and they were running trains. Once she warmed up to the guys she REALLY enjoyed the trains. I asked her 'what does a train say'... 'CHOO CHOO'!!! Watched the PSU games today... what a game! really impressed with this team... lots of heart and no quit.
Evenin' All.
Been really tired today, had a good run at the museum yesterday. No pile-ups as Laz would say. Did have some DCS/TMCC gremlins pop-up but didn't last to long.
Did run over to Harbor Freight and pick-up a couple of folding sawhorses that were on sale, not the best around but they are adequate for my workloads now.
While out-n-about went to Costco to top off after a couple of trips to the museum this week, $4.63/gl. Part of the problem here, not only the lack of refineries, is the state's air quality control board's use of different blends for different parts of the state which makes it impossible to bring in fuel from out of state. This is also the same bunch that talked about banning dark colors on cars and painting building roofs white because it could help reduce fuel & electricity consumption by reducing AC use.
Later all, gotta go anf start heating the oven for some baked taters, unfortunately can't have bacon bits or sour cream on 'em. Just lots some unsalted butter and maybe some brocolli.

I bet they try charging through the nose for it too. "Hey, there's only half as much so we'll charge twice as much."
Chief up here we keep getting in small quantities of gas.We are not on a pipeline.Just half full barges lately.
KRM Question for you guys, Do any of you drive a 2009 or newer Chevy Silverado? I am considering trading up but would like some feedback from owners. Been looking for an extended cab 4x4 1500. The only Chevy's I have had were a 78 LUV and a 86 S-10. Both rust buckets by 10 years old thanks to the road salt. Time to trade off the 2001 Dakota or watch it rust out from under me and then it will be worth nothing. A dealer in town said I can still get 5k for it like it is on trade. Thanks.

Mine isn't 2009 or newer but mine is 2003 and the only rust I have seen so far is in the rear bumper which is common seeing it gets a lot of water hitting back there.

Spent the morning working on the AS16. I fitted it with new motor mounts and a good Athearn motor and a pair of Proto trucks. I didn't have a pair of hex shafts long enough to reach from the flywheels to the worms so I made a pair of shafts that are a hybrid of the hex and spline shafts and those are working out well. They're easy to make. It just takes time. So that's got the motor and drive set. Next I'll be wiring in a Bachmann decoder.
Good morning all,
Enjoying the cool weather we are having lately. More on the way and possible rain next week but I will believe it when I see it.
Banks, condolences for your Uncle's passing. Truly one of the greatest generation that we are forever indebted too for our freedom and way of life. Rest in peace sir and thank you for giving me a secure life God bless you and your family.
Now is my chance to get out to the garage before dark and run some trains. Comfortable in there now.
Will try to make the TTOS meet in Arcadia tomorrow. Last regular meet before Cal Stewart next month. This is our West Coast York but really no comparison. You could put the whole thing in one building at York. However it's a lot closer.
Added another 10 minutes to my walk this morning and it went well. I seem to be gaining a little more stamina and strength each day. Also walking the straight and narrow on my diet. We had dinner out last night. Had a nice roasted chicken dinner with small portion of mashed potatoes and red cabbage. No desert but had a small pear when I got home.
Have a good weekend,
Ray.

Hudson#685My Dad was in the Marines also and he did not talk much about the war either. You should have been there when 1 of my brothers bought a Japenese car.
Lunch Time:
Nice quiet morning at work. A couple of the guys are installing a rebuilt transfer case in a tandem axle all wheel drive GMC C8500 Digger/Derick w/a Isuzu Diesel and Allison Automatic. Yes it is a real dog and a pain in the butt, heavy job. Besides that, there is plenty of other activity going on here from welding, body work, and aerial lift repairs.

Kev, George the cat sounds like our cat Chester. She (Don't ask how she got the name) loves to tease dogs and is best friends with our dog Mack. She loves rolling around on my neighbor's deck when they are not home and get their Pit Bull, Sonny, all worked up. She also knows how to tease my daughter's 2 dogs. She is at least 12 now. She adopted us one day as I was working under a tractor she climbed up on my chest. The rest is history.
SJ, leave the tomatoes in for a couple more weeks. Nothing to loose.
Gas in NJ this morning ranged from $3.73 to $3.77 on Route 9 in Bayville.
Back to work,
John
Highest gas prices here today are: $3.74 Regular, $3.89 Mid-grade, $4.09 Premium. Those are from three different stations. One of the stations I go to has $3.61 Regular, $3.76 Mid-grade, $3.81 Premium. Not the lowest but the closest. If I want to go out farther I could get gas for $3.54 R, $3.69 M, $3.84 P. Who do these nuts think they're trying to fool?
jeffrey-wimberly KRM George does not have a litter box. He has been fixed and he will go to the door when he want to do his thing or will come and get you. He eats inside and will stay in when he wants to. He also has a Kitty Kat Condo with a heated pad in it on the porch for when he can not come in. This all makes him, very easy to own Take care of. . It's been my experience that you don't own a cat. It owns you.

I stand corrected, you are correct Jeffery.
You are right Jeff, a nice friendly cat that likes a human lap, that I could tolerate. The others, well they better be good hunters.

It's 44 and going to stay chilly as predicted. I can't decide if i want to yank the tomato plants or keep them covered a little longer. It looks like Saturday football will be my thing for today..S.J.

Doug glad you got some cats. We too could not replace the dog but George the cat came up the driveway before Lacy died. He has helped fill the loss for us as I am sure your kittens will do the same for you.

Morning. Sunny. Suppose to turn cool and rain tomorrow. Something SJ and the Yankees sending me. Cooked breakfast this AM. Side meat fried crispy with scrambled eggs. First time in months. Now to run errands.
Banks, sorry for your loss, Bud.
CA gas prices are a "fix". Shortage. Bull. Nation is connected by pipe lines, tanker trucks and trains. Excuse to rip off folks.
Shake and Bake the fire bug.
Kids actually slept late. Did not disturb me until I woke up. Guess they realized Mom was not home and so being spoiled was not the game.
Jack, why are your MA Yankees sending bad drugs around the nation? Mostly to Southern states. HUMMM

Good morning. It's 65° with 100% humidity and areas of fog. It's mostly cloudy but should become partly cloudy later. The high should be 78°.
I'm hoping to get in some work on the grain elevator today providing I don't get interrupted by a certain family member. I get some time to do something and he calls and turns my schedule upside down. That gets really annoying after a while. Looks like the motor in the AS16 is going to have to be replaced after all. It's acting like it has a weak or bad field.
Good morning fellas,
Cold last night, I know because George the cat was waiting for us at the front door when we got home from the Red Lobster thingy. Cat stayed in all night untill after he ate at 4:00AM and is now in his heated igloo on the front porch.
37 degrees and won't make the 60s today in North Central IL.
Dinner last night was good. We got back about 10:00 and the traffic was fair. We had separate checks for a group of 5 couples and the two grandkids and stupid me when I paid the bill I added the tip as I always do and when I got home I saw they added a 18% tip on to the bill. Kinda kicked the snot out of the train budget for this month.
Banks, so sorry to hear about your uncle, may he RIP condolences to you and your family. I am sure you will be strong for your dad in these next few days.
