Like DougM said, Sunny and cool.
BTW Doug Great picture. where was that?
Not much train news from yesterday, just messed with those crossing gates but still no luck. It seems you have to break contact from the black wire to the yellow and white momentarily for then to work . So having the black wire fixed to the one rail does not do it.
Thanks guys for the comments on my old Goat. Those were great cars and good times, but now days I think I would like to be like Don and be driving a Goose not a Goat.
Good luck with the fishing trip Laz. sounds like a fun time.
Jeffery, You should be glad your not a dog, Seriously take care of yourself today and I hope your feeling better. I think we have all had days where we struggle but you seem to have way tooooo many.
Prayers for you Jeff , Tyler,Mike, Wes, and all the rest in need.

Greetings Again From My Neck Of The Woods,
Wifey took the daughter and the grandchildren out to dinner at Friendly's Friday night after some "wedding party" dress fittings for an upcoming wedding.....you know the drill, the women's dresses that you pay a lot for, wouldn't be caught dead in after you wear them once, and then put them in the closet for a couple of decades before you throw them away. The requisite post dinner ice cream was involved which is all that mattered to a nine year old and the three year old. So fortunately I was left home alone to my own devices.....in full control of the remote control.
Saturday night we were supposed to get together with a whole bunch of friends for dinner, including one couple driving up from Pittsburgh......but the Pittsburg wife got sick and they had to cancel their entire Fall trip to these here Northeast parts. Undeterred, at 6:45PM we met up with the rest of the gang in Newburyport MA., ate at Not Your Average Joe's near the harbor, food was really good. It was supposed to be an "early evening" but everyone got to yakking, didn't get home until midnight. My wife and I were walking to our car and were greeted by Mr. Skunk. But fortunately for us he had better things to do, wandered off, and we did not get perfumed.
Think about it......just three games into the NFL season and only 3 of 32 teams are still undefeated.
DougM and KEV......I ordered 6 Lou Malnati's pizzas last week over the net, were delivered via FedX last Thursday, packed in dry ice. I hid them in the garage freezer. Last night I told the wifey I was preparing "fine cuisine" for her for dinner, something she had not had at home for nearly a year. She thought dinner was going to be fresh lobster. You can't beat Chicago style deep dish pizza!!!!
DougM......thanks for the video and the photo of the Zephyr. WOW!!!! We never see anything like that in these here parts.
LAZ......... I will send you my address and you can ship me some fresh fish when you get back. I hope those two girls you met walking the entire Appalachian Trail were armed. On an unrelated note, I think three of us on the POT have wives named Pam. What's with that?
Chief........old layout destruction. Sounds kind of sad, even with the BOX and the promise of the new layout.
Brent.........yes, I have taken the grandchildren shopping by myself. Forgot my leashes, though, and consequently did not get a lot accomplished. How you pulled off your shopping adventure with Christina and got anything done is beyond me, unless she was strapped into a stroller.
JON and Rich (and Bob).........was thinking about you three Saturday night when we were out for dinner with friends. One of the guys bought his wife a pre-owned Harley (XLH ?) Sportster, the one with the 1200CC engine. Just 1,800 miles on the odometer, $4,800. Neither have ever owned or ridden a motorcycle before. I think he bought it for himeself. But it any event, isn't that way too much bike (power and weight) for a beginner, especially a woman? Anywho, the guy's wife is already in the midst of riding lessons, don't think she will get in much riding this Fall before the temps are too cold.......think she is lrarning on a loaner Honda 50 or some similar small bike.
Chuck.........good luck with the laptop. I don't monkey with my PC when it starts acting up because in all likelihood I would only make matters far worse.
AF Ray (and JoeyD).........I have to agree. With just 10 games left the baseball season, all of the way around things are up for grabs. Better than runaway races. Both the Yankers and the Os are neck and neck, both teams on fire, one game separates them with 10 to go. SJ'sTigers are right there battling DougM's White Sox, exactly the same gap. And my Red Sox? Giving Major League Baseball a bad name.
KEV........nice pics of your GTO! I have to agree with the others, one of my top 5 all-time muscle cars, as long as it is the 66 or 67 Goat like you had. A picture of sheer beauty. Was thinking of you and your GTO the other night while watching a rerun of "Overhaulin" on the Velocity channel. Chip Foose and his gang did up one for a woman who inherited hers from her father.....from a mess to perfection. You must have good taste. Even the exterior color Foose selected was very similar to yours.
Don.......got another gander (not Goose) of the size your buddy Bob's layout benchwork. After you revealed the price of just the track and switches estimate, I think his wife is going to blow a gasket or just shoot him. Wear kevlar when you go over there.
Re the Windseeker ride problems, that was all over the news out here last week. Must have management at Knott's all tied up in knots.
Jeff.........your layout photo of the figure in the red shirt, looks like he is draining the monster.
SubmmBob......hope you get those automobile projects squared away in short order. You are up against the clock on both.
Later, gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
KRM Not much train news from yesterday, just messed with those crossing gates but still no luck. It seems you have to break contact from the black wire to the yellow and white momentarily for then to work . So having the black wire fixed to the one rail does not do it.
Kevin,
When the Car passes through the isolated section the signal should open, it should stay closed while a car is in the isolated section. If not, check to see if there is continuity between the rails without a car sitting in the isolated section. If there is, then there is still come place where the isolated rail "isn't isolated" and needs to be corrected.
Don
Don, I have been trying to do this on my bench before making all of the changes to the table track. I will need to isolate a half curve of Marx 34" and I don't have any extras. So I decided I am doing something wrong and I want to mock up a small loop on the floor to test out the wiring. Are you guys using these signals on the layout or some others? Just seems if I keep the yellow and white tied together it will not work unless I split them up. When I break the black from them one at a time it will work. I brake the white from the black and then the yellow from the black as the 153C would do. If the white and yellow are tide and you break the black the thing lights up and the gate kind of bounces up and down in a jurk.
I got nothing but time so it will be okay.
Lunchtime:
Today is the day for Mom's surgery. I was ordered by my wife and mother to "Go to work, we have it covered and we will call you if you need to be here". My other brothers were told the same.
No change in Dave's condition.
Spanky, prayers for Tyler. He has the right attitude, bring the trains.
Banks, Prayers for Dad.
Jeffrey, Take care of yourself.
Laz: have fun fishing!
Rich: What is it with you guys from Greenfield's and Neons. All of the guys that came here drove them. BTW, I have Tomasz here now.
Have a great day,
John

Just finished making the spaghetti sauce mix in the crock pot for tonight's dinner.
RIJack, Thanks, that GTO was in white when my friends found it under a shade tree in southwest MO. It had been sitting there for years already even if it was only about 12 or 13 years old it the time. SO I did a bunch or repairs including fixing the trunk floor that had a large rust hole in it and painted it marina blue. That is a light sky blue that was on GTOs and the Chevelle back then. Then in 1988 I started over on it and went to correct everything in the second restore. Finished it four days before the Plainfield tornado and had it at work that day to show the guys, otherwise it would have been in the garage and beat to trash like my truck was that was in there The car was at least 97% correct by end of the second restore. i had a small stall converter and a hot cam and lifters. The Forest blue was the color it was from the factory. Nice but like black way hard to keep nice.. It took a lot of block sanding on those quarter panles to get then straight.
My daughter did not talk to me for a week after I sold it.
John Prayers for your mom's surgery and your friend David.
DougM, How do you find out about these trains running through? I would of driven up if I had known.
Nice out and in the 70s so I think I will go mess with that big old Red Oak some more.
Good morning all,
SJ, summer has not gone, it is still living in Southern California.
Doug Murphy, nice video and photo of the Zephyr. Did not know they still ran that now and then.
Chief, I like Brunswick stew too. They say it was a favorite of FDR when he was at Warm Springs, Georgia. His biography says that he hated the cooking in the White House. His wife hired the cook because she was a friend, not for her cooking ability.
Jeffrey, hope you have a handle on all those side effects. A lot of stuff is hard on your kidneys and liver. I take more stuff than I want to now. Doctors keep adding more pills it seems.
Don, enjoy your time off from Knotts. I did not see the shuttle flyover either but watched on TV. My son who works on the West Side of town saw it at Santa Monica.
later,

I've ridden the Zephyr on the IRM track. It's still in beautiful shape. Here's where I found out about it, Kev: http://www.irm.org/
for Mike, Wes, Tyler, and anyone I might have accidentally missed.
Tore the 2025 down Friday night, and with a bit of cleaning, a fallen 675, and some time it runs and looks much better.
Replaced the fuel filter on the Probe Saturday, which had about 84K on it. Also removed and cleaned the throttle body while I was in there. Thanks to some genius at Mazda, this all took about eight straight hours since the filter is in the engine bay buried under the intake elbow, cruise control module, and some harnesses. Once it is within reach, it needs to be pulled up to get the lower line, but the line is short and the spring clamp adds insult to injury. Throttle body was not much easier with the attached Idle Air Control valve and two coolant lines and sensors.
This is standard operating procedure for servicing Mazda's 2.5L KL V6. I am really glad I didn't get an 11+ Mustang with the 3.7 V6, which is also a Mazda. Can't stand the sound of the 3.7 anyway. It's got the same japanese sound as the KL.

Thanks Doug, looks like a cool place and so close to you.
I bookmarked it so I can check it out now and then.
Been washing the house doors and working on my 1975 Triumph T160 this afternoon geting it ready for storage.

No kidding! With all the meds I take there's about fifty different possible side effects. Some of them don't bother me, most have some effect on me at times and it seems like a lot of them take turns.
Jeff, I was on a ton of pills awhile back, all with crazy side effects from headache to limp plumbing. the best thing I EVER DID was stop taking ALL of IT!!! I now feel BETTER than EVER!!!

Evening all Boy it was interesting around here this evening first off when I got home wife isn't talking to me. So I'm trying to figure out what I did this time. ( Been very busy day at work I was just beat and didn't feel like any games ) So I went to my room and there was the answer 4 boxes by ups where in there ( they normally don't run around here until 6 to 8 P.M. well ran early today and a different driver. I told her thats the trains chief sent me I told you about she said I thought it was one train not half of his collection! I said believe me that few wouldn't even scratch Chief collection. Well got her calm down and working out side using tail gate as work bench for cutting the new door threshold and she comes out to see hows it going ( play supervisor lol) and who shows up but FedEx with another package for me. Didn't have an answer for that one her first words were I guess another package from chief right? I said no I bought a train set with the money from the one I had to return. ( still wasn't happy) as she went in Oh by the way what lottery did you hit and not tell me. (why don't we have a symble for a dog house lol)
Any way Started to work on the den again but didn't feel like dragging the saws outside knowing in about 1 1/2 hours I would have to drag them back in so just did the threshold and straightened up some. Tomorrow will be a busy day for me as I was asked to work on wednesday my other day off. Have an hearing test that day anyway so why not get paid time and a half while getting your hearing checked.
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

Went to town with my father this morning. We had breakfast at The Waffle House in New Llano then went to Wal-Mart so he could do some grocery shopping for himself and I could pick up some much needed medical supplies and some Great Value drink mixes. My drinks may of medical necessity be limited mostly to water but that doesn't mean they have to be tasteless. Got back home about 11:30 and since I has still hurting quite a bit took some more Aleve and rested as best I could. No layout work today. Didn't even touch the layout. Maybe tomorrow I can get some work done on it. For now it's time to call it a night. I'll see y'all tomorrow.
I had a nice day, that's it, I'm running late tonight..Got banilla, will wait for the thingy..S.J.

Great weather this weekend. Sunny and in the low 70's.
Spent a lot of time outside on Saturday, but not working on projects of my choice. My wife volunitered to help run the kids activities. Of course, that means I got drafted to 'only help with the set up'. Right. It didn't quite work out thqt way. Saturday night we were both beat - my wife gave up ane went to bed about 8pm, I followed at about 10pm.
We spent Sunday unloading and sorting the kids activities supplies out of the car. Got called into the KATY museum to remove a pigeon that found its way into the building for grins too. When my wife hung that phone call up, I asked if I should bring my BB gun for the pigeon removal.I got 'THE LOOK'!
We vegged out Sunday afternoon - TCM had some good old movies - Don't Eat the Daisies, 10 Little Indians, and Murder by Death.
RI52 - on the subject of showing appreiation for employees re-arranging personal events, near as I can figure, that gets outlawed in the secret set of rules handed out when one attains a certail level of management. On another wedding/work related note, one of the other guys at work got called in on his daughter's wedding day - tux and all.
My All Hallow's Eve tender got dropped off today. A signature is required, we weren't home, now we've got to wait for the re-delivery - at a time of their choosing. We found out that it will cost $5 to re-schedule the delivery at a time of our choosing! When did the 'service' part of parcel delivery service die? Seems like the sender and receiver are the customers here - without them there would be no need for the parcel delivery service......
All for now.
Good night all.
FSIL [future son-in-law] came this afternoon to help with old layout removal and train car moving to Box. Had 8 big flat 4 foot long tubs [the kind they have for Christmas or clothes with wheels to slide under the bed] already full of cars. Went to Wake Forest Lowes. Had one with no top. Price $19. Went to Knightdale Lowes. Got 4 more for $15 each. Filled two and loaded 4 more on back of pickup. Took to Box. I will work on moving some tomorrow. Will have to hand carry as the tubs are too big to carry down steps from upstairs. FSIL coming back early Wed. and help with rest of the tubs.
RT, wait until I email the Wifey and inflate the price you paid for those boxes. Get even for all your Yankee jabs.
Prayers for Tyler, Wes and boys and Banks Dad.
Off to bed. Sleep tight.

Evening All
Had a restful day, did work on our website and a few orders, so was able to feel productive.
RT - I think you will end up in a boat load of trouble by the time Chief gets his stuff moved. Better plan on more shelving soon! Might even want to send the Chief a friends or neighbors address.
KEV, - Sent you a couple of emails.
Our local High School mad a startling move today. They downgraded their Varsity Football team to Junior Varsity! The team had 49 kids on Varsity, major community concerns. The team has played 4 games so far and haven't been able to score one point, and have had numerous injuries. 2 broken collar bones, and numerous broken wrists. I think the local demographics has a lot to do with it also.
The weather seems to be cooling off a little bit, hope it holds.
Prayers for those in need.
Later
8ntruck I went onto ups site about a month ago to change delievery day and they wanted to charge to just change the day. Thats one reason I do not ship with them. My prefer shipping method is Fedex except small packages. That use to be a free service.
Chief The trains are great thanks again for offering.
The PRR SD-35 is excellant also.
When I can get these all up for display will get pics and do SPF but that may be a couple of weeks as want to get den done first and need to buy more shelves to display them on also.
Well making breakfast so then to work on the den.
Hope all have a good tuesday talk to you all later

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is cloudy and 41 degrees. Going up to 61 with a chance of rain.
Today is a busy day. I have the usual chores to do and some paperwork to work on. I will be busy until lunch. A nap, of course, later.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Aloha. . Grey and cool today. Might rain which would be great. My wife took home her new kitty yesterday. He's tiny and cute like kittens are - given to hiding under our bed. Had a nice ride on the TARDIS with Brutus, RT and SJ - can't believe the White Sox pulled that game out! Then watched the end of that bizarre MNF game. At least the Packers lost. Read an old MR on the commute in this morning. From February 1971. Got me thinking, what were you doing in February of '71: I was in 2nd grade, probably pretty bored in school.
Beautiful morning. Warming up though. May get clsoe to 90 before end of week. Waiting for buddy from lake to come and go to BoJangles. Brings his dog to groomer in town north of us and then come by for a biscuit. Then he goes to Sam's to shop. Such a nice day wish I was on the lake or in the woods.
Turnips I sowed last week up and growing. Good stand of them came up as rained right after sowing.
Treated back deck and msot of front deck of the Box. Finish the one railing today.
Upstairs and Box work today.
Later.
Got woke up early by a woodpecker doing his thing on the side of our house. So I got dressed and grabbed my woodpecker deterrent and went out to fix him but he must of thought better about what he was doing and split.
DougM. February 1971, 18 years old, living in an apt in Joliet on Cass Street and I was working turning wrenches for Lantz Bros. garage in Plainfield and driving my 1969 Shelby GT350
Don. Got your email and tried some stuff for you to think on a bit ago.
I got some stuff to do today so no train stuff in the plans.
Prayers for all in need and there seems to be plenty out there right now.
Got to go! I will check back later!
P.S. RT, my UPS guy puts my packages by the shed when I am not here. Wifey would never think to look there.
Good Mornin' Y'all From Crystal Clear Taxachusetts,
The lowest temperature of the Fall season here greeted Maximus and I when we went out for his morning pit stop, 43 degrees. But has already shot up to 56 with 72 as the forecasted high for the day. The pup was beside himself (distracted, sniffing like crazy), and I have to assume it is because the wascally wabbits and squirrels had invaded his turf earlier.
My State's drug testing lab has been charged with mishandling thousands and thousands of drug samples which resulted in convictions. The first of the avalanche of court challenges has commenced. May be a shortage of lawyers to handle the load. My tax dollars hard at work rework.
I hope today brings good news on HudsonJohn's Mom, friend Dave, Spanky's little Tyler, and Bank's Dad. And prayers for Wes and his family.
BOC......my wife and I have the onset of the crud too. Hope you are feeling better.
RT........it sounds like you really need some advice on covert operations. Read HudsonJohn and AF Ray's book on the topic. They have it down to a science.
Chief........isn't it amazing how much easier things go when you have help moving a whole bunch of stuff? Sounds like your future SIL understands the value of helping out family members when they need it. If we were there "helping" you some of the bins would not have made it to the Box.
DougM........when you were in second grade in 1971, I was chasing women and dreaming of getting my first "real" car, the latter to help supplement efforts with the former.
KEV.......re Velocity TV's show "Overhaulin," that 66 GTO didn't look too bad until they started tearing it apart to resore it. RUST!!! The trunk floor was swiss cheese as was the left rear quarter panel.
cnw1995 Read an old MR on the commute in this morning. From February 1971. Got me thinking, what were you doing in February of '71: I was in 2nd grade, probably pretty bored in school.

Had just returned from Viet Nam, was stationed in Phoenix, waiting for an "Early Out" to return back to school. Extremely excited about being back in the "World".
It's a sunny 57.
A hair cut this morning, got lucky the barber was in a good mood and cut both hairs for the price of one. Chief when your finished moving your trains you might want to use one of those tubs and take a bath. Got CTT late yesterday PM just thumbed part of it. Looks like a good one. When I was a kid page 84 was just a dream for the boys I knew. Last week of Sept. is already moving pretty fast..S.J.
Doug the Sox win still leaves the Tigers 1 game back. Again.
