Good Mornin' Y'all From Cool and Overcast Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

Another weather front moved up from the Southeast but is primarily located off the right coast.  We won't see 70 today, but the rain will probably miss us.  Fridays on my schedule include de-pooification (highly technical term) in the back yard.  The four legged manufacturing plant never quits. Whistling

We have some friends who are driving up today from the Pittsburgh, destination is Loudon NH and the New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the car races this weekend.  Wifey and I are going to meet up with them tomorrow night for dinner some place on the water in Newburyport MA.  At least, that is the plan.

My tax dollars at work (NOT).  The city's workers are outside right now with some bucket contraption, first pulling off all of the curbside drain grates and then removing all of the accumulated leaves, mud, sand, and debris down below for better Winter street drainage......one would think they would do that AFTER all of the leaves have fallen and gone down the drain, not before.  BTW......the city's delayed mosquito abatement plan (from earlier this week) seems dead with no word if or when it will occur.  Guess the powers that be just figure we citizens can fend for ourselves against Eastern Equine Encephelitis and the West Nile virus-infected critters that were discovered in my neighborhood recently.  Since I abut a pond and wetlands, my family is the most likely victim.  And I even voted for the mayor!!!!  Bang Head

Banks.....I hope your Dad is doing OK, will continue to add him in my chat with HER/HIM.

MikeC......I hope you will not be MIA too long and that your challenge is overcome.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

RaySP......prayers for Chris and his family.

BOC.......that is very thoughtful of you to help out at the food bank today. Thumbs Up

JoeyD.....thank you for the reminder that this is POW/MIA Day.  I listened to the national news this AM and they could not find the decency to mention it amid all of the election politics stories and the rest of the garbage they aired.  And I think I would not have cared if they had to drop a story on some (another) knucklehead teen who smashed his speeding car into a tree when he should have long since been home in bed.  Medflighted into Boston, no life threatening injuries.

LaughDougM.....I figured an ultra- techie like you would have spent last night camped out in line, waiting to get an Iphone 5.  Seriously, don't people have better things to do with their time?  Is this new Apple product that life-critical?  Is it that much better than what they have?  Are not these phones going to be available after today?  Priorities?  These types have none.  I would be motified to be seen on local and national TV, smiling and cheering like I was some sort of buffoon.

Jeff.......along with the cupholder, add one of those canopies to the list of options on your Dad's next mower, like one sees on golf carts.  It sounds like you need to wear clothing that lets less sunlight through when you mow your Dad's place.......or mow in the dark.  That current mower got a headlight on it? Whistling

KEV........I sure hope the exterminators didn't kill off any of the "beneficial bugs." Whistling

LAZ......what are you doing out exercising before the sun rises?  You are a retiree.  Please act like one!!!!  Re the visit to the Ford dealership this morning,  I am certain while I type this that your "one hour visit" has been extended because you naively believed them, hope you brought along some good reading material.  Re the vinyl fence you want to put up because of a neighbor issue, I thought that was what the new bow was for.   BTW, the Speed Channel is now called the Velocity Channel, the change happened a couple of months ago.  As a retiree, you also need to keep up with important changes like this.  Stick out tongue

RT......You live in the South.  How on earth are you going to get by with just one last lawn mowing for the season (today)?  Up my way we keep cranking until the grass stops growing and the leaves are all picked up, figure a week into November for the last pass.

Chuck......thank the Lord for your gasoline prices @ $3.68 per gallon (87 octane?)  We are 15 cents per gallon higher than you.  Add another 25 cents per gallon for premium grade.  There is a Sunoco with a car wash up in Derry NH where we stop at while we go dog training, and theyknock 30 cents off a gallon if you get a car wash.

SJ.......usually I am wiped out when I get done mowing the lawn.  Then I skip the trimming and edging, why my place always looks a tad unkempt because I never seem to get back out there and fininsh off the job the next day. Bang Head

Brent.......I think JimmyT has it right.  The girls in your household, the C and the Q, have you bamboozled and brainwashed, no hope for you despite our unsollicited, expert advice.  Laugh

Chief......glad you are hard at work getting Fred's and your chainsaws in proper working order.  Now you are ready for "The Roseyville Chainsaw Massacre" when you find those ne'er-do-wells who have been violating the deer stands. Smile, Wink & Grin

8N.......you pondered whether management appreciates the fact that they have made a decision that will mean your postponing or cancelling your long-since communicated vacation plans.  In a word, NO!!!!  They don't care a lick nor even give it a thought.  Your problem.

Years ago I postponed my honeymoon to make sure some life or death project was completed on time.  So after I got done smoothing over wifey ruffled feathers, I rescheduled our getaway and knocked out the project..  You guessed it, three days before we were schduled to depart the second time, my workaholic/ has-no-life boss came up with another "life and death, you have to attend this meeting" scenario.  I nodded in agreement, told him it was ok provided he could convince my wife, dialed the phone, then handed it to him.  he was stunned.  Long story short, he made me hang up the phone, we went on our honeymoon as rescheduled, and the world did not come to an end with my absence at the stupid meeting.  I had one of my staff handle the meeting for me.  Management DOES NOT CARE.  Today matters are even worse:  staffs have been cut to the bone, all flexibility gone, one hiccup and bad things happen.  And there is the spector of job security looming over one's head.

SoapBox

Later, gang.

Jack - $3.83 for gas??? Are you kidding me? It was Regular = $4.02, Plus = $4.12 and Super $4.35 at the station yesterday... I couldn't believe it! Even with $.40 off for spending a small fortune at the grocery store it was still over $60.00 to fill the tank... but we're "rich" so we can afford to pay more!

We had to go out last night to get new shoes for TheP... it is after Labor Day so it is against some insane feminine law that you can't wear white now... we got her a new pair of... wait for it... wait for it... WHITE tennis shoes to replace her WHITE tennis shoes that she can't wear since it is after Labor Day and a pair of brown boots... while we were 'browsing' we found a really cute pink over coat for TheP.... we had her try it on and I had her standup with the coat on... BAD MOVE... zip she was gone running between the clothes racks, ducking under the clothes racks, and going everywhere Daddy couldn't go! I finally caught her when she tripped on the carpet... TheQ - was laughing the whole time. Good times! Well when we got home TheQ was saying how happy she was that we were able to get TheP new shoes... I didn't mention the WHITE rule... TheQ was showing TheP her new SIZE 3 shoes... me "Size 3? That is what she has now." TheQ - "No she has size 2." Me - "Check"... TheQ (while looking inside TheP's current WHITE tennis shoe) "Oh NO!" Me - "Looks like we are returning these new shoes. Maybe we can find other tennis shoes that aren't white, since you aren't supposed to wear white after Labor Day." TheQ - "Bite Me"

No plans for today. Just going to let it happen. I am looking for (11) 35" straight tracks I got from a guy. for $20.00 to show up today.

DougM, Twlight Zone is on top of the news at 10:00PM on channel 23. That is okay with me I watch the news at 6:00. I will look to see if I get BBC America on DirecTV. Thanks,

Prayers for Mike C, Tyler,  DJ and his wife, Bank's dad and anyone else in need. Been a bad week. TGIF Angel Tongue Tied

Low hanging limbs and mimosas we have here would love that!Laugh Headlights it has. We also have an Ahole neighbor who calls out the law on those making noise after dark or before sunrise. Unless of course he's the one making the noise.

I HATE TAKING A FEMALE SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES

That was my morning. It's 64 with bright sun. Rain by evening and overnight, so they say. I don't feel like trimming the lawn so it ain't gonna get done today....S.J.

An after thought here: Would it really cost that much for a store to provide a chair for us waiting husbands and boyfriends?

Lunchtime:

A beautiful sunny day in Jersey.

Mom is scheduled for surgery on Monday. She is getting a bit depressed and anxious. We are thinking positive about it.

SJ, Great news from the doctor. Yes

Spanky: Prayers for Tyler, you, Linda and Corey. Angel

Mike C, Hang in there! We are here for you.

Banks: Prayers for your Dad.

SubMMBob: The Corvair 95 van brings back memories. We had some when I first started here in 1972. The biggest complaint we got was, "NO HEAT".

Chuck: $2 a gallon. WOW. I paid $3.57 yesterday and in NJ it is full serve.

V8: Rainbird Sprinklers, that is what I installed 20+ years ago. No complaints here. Yes

Kev:You are right, it has been a bad week.

One of our mechanics in his mid 40's was diagnosed last week with advanced lukemia. They opted to attack it aggressively with chemo. He had a stroke in the hospital. He has a wife and young daughter. Great Guy and Wrench. Please add Dave to your prayers.

Jack, I'll get the iPhone 5 but after the 'rush' - as you said, at a certain level, the differences in the new devices don't matter. (Though I did download the new iOS 6 update super-early.  Smile)  As you know too, I'm in the wrong state to buy gasoline. Those prices are so inexpensive. I just paid $4.62/gal. That's a lot to fill up. At least I can find ethanol for the van at $3.64.  Ah well.

Prayers for Dave, John's mom, and Bank's dad. (I'm keeping a list) Thanks Kev for the connection to MeTV to Twilight Zone.  I just discovered BBC America also shows 'old' Doctor Who but during the day - that should be fine for you.

Grey day is turning cold but no rain. Hope to get some (rain) later. The highlight of my day is spending my commute figuring out the Ivor the Engine app. I love it.

Spanky, prayer for Tyler and your family to get a handle on this.  God be with you all.

V8 Dennis, I saw the Rainbird feature on Huel Howser.  Second time I have seen it.  That little shed where the founder did his tinkering is only a few blocks from where I live.  Rainbird had more than one facility here but closed one of them a few years back and sold the property to developers.  They still have a large plant between here and Azusa, the town just West of us.  I have rainbirds on my lawn.  They work great.

At The Mall in Columbia (yes that is what it is really called) in Columbia, MD the Ann Taylor store allows significant others into the dressing room... well TheQ took so much into the room with her once that I couldn't sit in 'her' dressing room so they put me in the room across from her... they do this so the ladies don't have to wonder into the store and reveal how bad they look in their clothing... any who... while I was sitting there one of the young ladies working there walked by and mouthed to me 'Yeah it is one of my fantasies too' Surprise REALLY!?!?!?! I'm twice your age and married!!!!!!

Needless to say when TheQ announces she needs to go clothes shopping for herself my first question is. "Are you going to Ann Taylor at The Mall?"... that usually gets a not so kind response.

Jack - Don't worry for me! I LOVE shopping with TheQ because she can't stand shopping! When she goes shopping for herself I have to go along or she would return with everything either black, white, or navy - sometimes she'll toss in some color and bring home something grey or khaki! Seriously I have been told that since we've been together she dresses much nicer and with more color! I can count on one hand the number of times we've gone shopping for her that entire trip (including car ride) has lasted longer than 3 hours... she is WORSE than me!

It has been mid day Madness for me today.  Hmm

Got my parts from the Train Tender so I headed downstairs to fix some things. Replaced the burnt out lights in one gooseneck lamp and the oil derrick. Yes Then installed the reverse activation device so I can run the Burros crane on the Gang car line. Yes. Then I was on a roll so I decided to bench test wiring the crossing gated per Shake & Bake's instructions before I set it up on the table. Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head well I just must be stupid Dunce (Don't GO There RIJack Whistling ) or I am missing something or Don left a step out of the instructions, like what to do with the Black wire.  Confused

Well that was it I quit and decided to do something I still know how to. I put up in the den the shelf I got yesterday at that moving sale for $1.50 and put the Plymouth switcher on it.

Chuck......thank the Lord for your gasoline prices @ $3.68 per gallon (87 octane?)  We are 15 cents per gallon higher than you.  Add another 25 cents per gallon for premium grade.  There is a Sunoco with a car wash up in Derry NH where we stop at while we go dog training, knock 30 cents off a gallon if you get a car wash.

Brent.......I think JimmyT has it right.  The girls in your household, the C and the Q, have you bamboozled and brainwashed, no hope for you despite our unsollicited advice.  Laugh

Big Smile

Brent........this is terribly sad.  We are worried about you.  If you keep shopping like this with your wife, you will either go insane or she will harm you.  I can't stand to go shopping with my wife.  She is like Jeffrey's mother.  She will look at every rack in every clothes store in the mall and try on a few dozen pairs of shoes per store.  If I do take her shopping, I sit out in the car, catch a nap, or listen to XM satellite radio or a sports talk radio show.  Or I might take Maximus with us and do some training with him near the entrance doors to the mall so that he can become more accustomed to whiny spoiled rotten ill-behaved screaming kids and weird people in general, all of which have cell phones glued to their ears. Laugh

Jack

Jack - Don't worry for me! I LOVE shopping with TheQ because she can't stand shopping! When she goes shopping for herself I have to go along or she would return with everything either black, white, or navy - sometimes she'll toss in some color and bring home something grey or khaki! Seriously I have been told that since we've been together she dresses much nicer and with more color! I can count on one hand the number of times we've gone shopping for her that entire trip (including car ride) has lasted longer than 3 hours... she is WORSE than me!

Brent.....I must have messed up on my pre-marital due diligence research and somehow missed the fact that my wife loves shopping more than me or even life itself.  I must have been distracted.  ConfusedWhistling

By the way.....our wives must be sisters.  Mine has nearly the exact same color preferences as the Q.  That would make us brothers-in-law. Thumbs UpLaugh

That looks very nice along, with the other layout pictures (and video) you have been posting.  You didn't mention that the shelving was finished or so decorative.  If you wish, Jeffrey can give you some tips on how to properly "age" the shelves so that they look like something the Southern boys would put up. Home from the fields.  No, the woods.  Two new double ladder stands up.  Shooting lanes [about 150 yds each] cut with pole saw.  Sprayed the area with backpack sprayer with Ranger [like Roundup].  One feeder filled.  Checked that camera with laptop.  No deer.  Just turkeys and squirrels.  "Feed" some big mounds of fire ants around the field to the barn stand.  Another work day needed to "tidy" up things for gun season.  Ate buffet at Abrams.  Lots of collards, bar-be-que and SOUTHERN fried chicken.  No potatoes.  Now for a shower and etc.

Later.
