Sunny and 44 going to 71 today.

No train work today because I will be out of the house for at least 4 hours today while it is getting Fumigated. It is something we do twice a year to kill off the spiders from the woods. They have not been too bad this year because of the drought.

So I am going to cut away on that downed Red Oak and split and stack the wood. Then later open up the house before wife gets home.  Maybe go to Home Depo too.

Have a nice day and prayers for those in need.

SUBMMBOB, love the Corvairs too.  Love the van.  What year?

Stay frosty,

Since I have been off the air there have been so many good posts and a lot of stuff so worthy of comment.  But I find myself overwhelmed by it all this morning.

The first frost this Fall hit in the mountains in Western Taxachusetts, and in the valleys in the Central and North parts of the state.  Near the coast we got down to 46, not the coldest we've had.  But for sure the beginnings of the Fall color is upon us.  Crystal clear today but cooler, high in the high 60s.  Warmer as we approach the weekend.

To all,

Thank you for the support.  Again I can offer no details at this time, if ever.  I will try to keep up on the activities here, and occasionally post from time to time.  Special thanks to those taking my driving shifts on the Tardis.  If and when I can, I will do double shifts for those who are covering for me.

Keep on training,

Good morning. It's 63° and the humidity is at 70%. Could the gauge be broken? The high today will be 85°.

We have plenty of sunshine this morning. It's streaming in through the window in the door and shining right on my video screen. Makes it somewhat difficult to see what I'm typing. I'm wondering if I should mow the grass today. With there being very little or no cloud cover it could make for a bad burn. Because of a side effect of one or more of my meds I sunburn quite easily unless I take certain precautions and then I'm very uncomfortable. Power went out a little while ago for just a matter of seconds. When it came back on my clock came right back with it. No need to reset it. Proof positive that the problem with it was the backup battery. My new keyboard is working out quite well. I had to print up some sticky labels to put on the keys so I can see them better as they came black with small gray/white characters. I have a hard time seeing gray. The labels are white with large black characters an dare much easier to see. Two things nice to have are the keys for 'My Computer' and my internet home page. I can bring up my Firefox with all ten tabs by pressing one key. No more having to click the Firefox icon and hope I don't accidentally click something else. Time to get about the days business, whatever that may be.

Oh yeah, got a haircut yesterday. Maybe now my neighbor will quit trying to put a leash on me.

Lowest price for reg. gas this morning was $3.83, I bought E85 for $3.53. It's overcast and 55, I'm waiting for some sun before I cut grass even if it takes till Saturday..S.J.

Jack - we actually see eye-to-eye on a lot of things and I am more protective of Christina than TheQ... she is MY little girl. Wink I'm beginning to wonder if she thinks I am a rag doll. Last night I was on the floor playing with her and she bit my nose, my chin, poked me in both eyes, and then hit me in the head with a VTech ball (yes that one hurt). TheQ was having a great time laughing at us, she told me we reminded her of The Three Stooges! LOL! I did have a talk with Christina about biting again... I think she gets into playing a bit too much and forgets her manners... she is only 14 months old!

DonB - Not sure I would want to push The Goose around... I'm thinking it would be easier to do that with another piece of equipment. Wink

Hello all

Got down to 46 deg last night. Another nice I think, but I haven't gone upstairs and looked out the window yet.

A few hours of work today and then I will head back to the Ol' Pueblo.

Laz - the van is a '62. They made the vans and trucks from '61 - '65. It came w/ a 3spd and the original 80HP engine. I am putting a 4spd into it w/ a later model car engine until I can get the original engine rebuilt. It's definitely a unique beast. There aren't many of the panel vans around anymore. This one was a work truck for someone.

Mike - still in my thoughts and prayers

Don - do you know what engine is in your Goose?

Laz, SJ - that photo actually was of Chief trying to get to the lake back in the Pleistocene when he used to hunt mammoths....Stick out tongue

Good morning all,

Don, what a predicament at Knotts with all those people dangling from the thrill ride.  Glad I wasn't on it.

No plans today except lay low when it gets hot.

Ran some trains for a while yesterday.  I have a GP20 MTH that is acting up.  I'm getting all kinds of wierd noises from the sound system or speaker on the unii.  It's a screeching noise and the volumn is too low also.  Must be in the electronics for the horn circuit.  Could try to disconnect the speaker I guess but would miss the horn/bell.  Don't want to get a big repair bill for something so small.

Picked up my old watch from jeweler who said it was bad order.  However it has been keeping perfect time for the last 24 hours.  Go figure!  I'm using a new watch now but will keep an eye on the old one.

Funeral for Chris Vega wil be on Saturday.  Probably a big turnout with all the kids he knew in high school.

later,

Ray

Got the grass mowed this morning and still got a burn even through my shirt! I was at Lowe's this afternoon and spied a full set of 12" stencils. I've been looking for a set of those for a couple of years. So I got them and a can of starting fluid.

Chief P.O.Box address gone bye-bye lol Just what I had as you see it also had your street address so you local P.O. don't know who you are. Geese.

Evening all been told by owmbo that I need to cut the grass for probably last time this year tomorrow morning. Then I can get started on the flooring I guess. ( If she doesn't come up with another idea) lol Need to slice the onions yet but seeing where under a boil water advisory for the next few days I'm just going to wait till its over instead of boil water to cool it down so I can wash the onions lol.

Just received my track in ( 26 sections Of gargraves flex with darken center rail) It all looks pretty good shape so that will be great for my shelves once I can get them up. ( have to do floor first lol)

On lap top as running scans on desk top right now don't like to be running anything but that when doing that.

Not much train wise today did get the track in that I mentioned and suppose to be getting a seaboard train set in tomorrow but that will get new pics takened and put right back up for sale. ( got a deal on that. couldn't resist.) Waiting for them to ship the G scale set from CA. yet. ) They said they have to get it out of storage.

Talk to you all later

Hi guys hope you all had a nice day,

Well the fumigation of the house went well. Had it locked down for 4 hours and then opened it up and cleared the air for 4 hours. Most times when we do this we will get a few like maybe 10 at best dead bugs on the floors upstairs and maybe 20 in the basement. Today only one upstairs and four in the basement. Must of been the drought. There was one big ugly bug we got today, it had a collar on it that said return to Roseyville NC. and the letters F.E. Laugh That is the problem with the south, Nothing dies. Whistling A good frost would kill it off. Smile, Wink & Grin

Cut and split all of the wood that I could lift without killing myself and the rest will wait  till I get some help.

No train work today, maybe tomorrow because they are calling for rain.

 Have a nice evening.

Oh yeah , I stopped at a moving sale today and got a nice 3' shelf for $1.50 that I think will be nice to display the K-Line Plymouth Switcher and the Ore cars.

Well what I got today is a pretty bad sunburn and it wasn't even the hot part of the day. We're talking morning hours here! I even got burned through my shirt. Most areas that were covered got burned a little. I was wearing denim pants so no burn there except where the fabric was pulled against my skin such as the knees. But even through a long sleeve pullover shirt and a T-shirt it baked me a light red. The exposed areas are really red. Glad I can't feel my arms. Even my eyelids hurt. I've put on some Solarcaine burn relief gel and it's helping a bit. Man, what if I'd been out there in the noon-afternoon hours? It wasn't even 85 today. I suspect that in the coming days I'm going to be peeling like crazy! I installed some software today for my new keyboard. It was on a 3.5" floppy disk so I had to borrow my mothers USB floppy drive. She doesn't need it. I copied the files onto a USB thumb drive so I can get at them in the future without a floppy drive.

Well that's it for now.

Another sunny day in the 70's today.  Not quite as nice as yesterday though.

Bunch of little annoying things stacking up at work.  The biggest of them being developments in one of my projects that require re-scheduling my long planned vacation next month LightningGrumpyLightning.  Nothing to do but work through them one at a time until they are no longer annoying Sigh.  The really annoying thing is that I'm not entierly sure that management really apprecates re-arrangements of personal time like this.

Still soaking and scrubbing Alco shells.  I discovered last night that a stiff short bristle nylon brush helps in removing the softened paint.  A shot of hot tap water also seems to help.

All for now.

Well it might have made it to 70. The clouds disappeared so I did cut the grass. No trimming though. The only train news I have is a Marx scale tender that I won off the bay. It will be repainted and lettered for NYC and will sit behind my # 333 Hudson. I got banilla for the thingy guys so off we go...S.J.

Haircut night for the Brutus Family - got my spiky eyebrows trimmed up, but no shampoo tonight.  We had some rain this morning and more is due tomorrow night.  We might have company for dinner Saturday, but sounds like they are trying to cancel on us?  Sunday my in-laws will be here for dinner, so that will be cool.  Tomorrow is my last day on "answer" duty for a few weeks, so hopefully I can catch up on my own work in the next two weeks after helping everyone else get their work done this week, lol!

TARDIS is ready and we have banilla or chocolate, so let's go!

Good morning. It's 55° with 95% humidity. It's partly cloudy. The high will be 85°.

Well this morning I'm definitely red and it hurts to move. The plan today is to stay in and do as little possible. I may get some cleanup done on the layout later.

I played golf today with some office folks today.  I stunk as usual but at least I wasn’t at work.  Today was also POW/MIA Remembrance Day.  I hope we never forget those folks who went through that and those who have not returned yet, and their families.  The wife made lasagna for dinner and we all watched Courageous

Mike C. – It’s good to see you post.  Hang in there.

SJ – I’m glad those exams came back okay.

DJ Spanky – I’ll continue to pray for Tyler, you, and your family.

Sayonara,

Joe

Yesterday ( Thursday ).......  There was a gas war in Cambridge, Ohio.

Gas was down to $ 2.00  a gallon.  It lasted about 4 hours.

Back to $3.68  today.

Aloha. Paradise Looks a little grey today. Puzzling through an Ivor the Engine game for the iPad. It's not very intuitive but has good 'scenes' to inform my layout planning.  Kev, I watch the new Doctor Who on BBC America, like Jeffrey. It's on ATT's U-Verse. Where are you watching the Twilight Zone? Channel 23?Praying for Mike C, and Tyler. DJ, there's lots of positive treatment options for him (my wife is a pediatric nurse - long hem/oc experience) . Good idea to go north.

To all,

DJ, thoughts and prayers for you and your family, especially Tyler.  As the Chief so capably noted a few days ago, we do hang in there for everybody.  I need to remember that.  On a very insignificant note, "my" soccer girls won 4-1 while "my" soccer boys lost 3-1 to a team in a higher division.  Both teams will play at home Saturday with the girls at 10 and the boys at noon.  On another minor note, "Special Ed" won the last Indycar race of the season and Ryan Hunter-Reay won the season championship.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
