Fife - our work function is over night so I won't be home Thursday night and won't be able to take Christina to Daycare on Friday... so most likely will not be going to York at all in October (have not fully discussed with TheQ yet) but will let you know.

Kev,

Did the crane show up yet?

Jimmy T,

The crane made it here today in fact just now. It is cool I like it. Cool  Now to spring it on the wife Surprise

 Thanks a bunch.  Bow

Chief, I sent you a PM on that gate crossing and how to wire one with 5 wires to an insulated track.

Fife, Did you ever get that tank set on your layout? Huh?

Layout wise for today.

Well I moved two lights on the layout and added three more. Now to figure out where I want the Gantry Crane. Confused

I am still on call to help out the sick daughter. She tried to eat last night with no luck but was going to give it a shot today and call me back. She said she would call me later so I guess I will just wait.

The wife said a lot of call offs at school today because of stomach flu.

Kev,

No problem.  I am just glad I could get it to someone who will get more enjoyment from it than I did with it living in my closet for 11 years. Angel for Katie.

Bob,

         Reply sent.

The open-to-the-public event was held at the Tractor Supply Company's parking lot, but I didn't see Pat, Banks, KEV, Jeffrey, or the Chief there.

I would be extremely surprised if you HAD seen me there. I haven't been out of Louisiana for 5+ years.

Afternoon.  Back from lake house and mowing.  Took pontoon boat out as water is dropping fast.  Army Corps???? Thumbs Down  Getting ready to go to Wake Med [one of our big hospitals] for Mayors' Assoc. dinner [yes, free meal].

First of all, welcome back to the over the hill retired horn blower from Ioway.  Glad your trip was good.  God bless you for your Patriot Guard service.  Keep us posted on the "new train engineer" thing.

RT, Labelle grease is at your local train store.  It is made for model trains.

Heard from Dennis W.  Busy with 2 year olds from China.  Bless him and Wifey for their loving challenged kids.

Doug M, bless you and your Wifey for your adoptions too.  Means some kids got a great life that they would not have had.

Later.

PS: Old minds forget what they just read.

Was Not me asking I think it was SP

Not much going on this evening wifes glasses came in so had to take her to get them. well have to give EBAY a Yes as I bought a GP-9 C&NW ( hate to give it up but guy I was dealing with real idiot) wanted me to return it because I had problem with his packing he ruined the box by taping ( with 2" clear tape) the train box, the TMCC base and the cab1 in box all together and then wrapped in the brown wrapping paper so the box for the engine was ruined and I complained told him lost about $50 in damage to the box as the box is as much a collectible as the trains are told me return it and he would give me my money for auction price but not return shipping or original shipping I said no I'm out about $45 doing that so I contacted ebay they sent me a label to ship it free and will return full price including original shipping fee. Was a nice engine and all but I'm better without it as got a better deal on something else I really been fighting with myself for about same price.

Just had a 2" steak smothered in onions, peppers and mushrooms for dinner boy did those peppers taste great Chef

Well rearanged freezer so all peppers would fit in big freezer which gives me room for onions in small freezer so guess I will do that tomorrow night. bought one of those slicer things you see on tv tonight at walmart to do the onions so that will make it easier tomorrow night whised I had that sat when I did all those peppers lol

Talk to you all later have a good night

Good evening all,

It is cloudy in SE Indiana.  Some events have recently occurred that I cannot explain and I am not sure I can share.  Rest assured, everyone in my family is physically fine.  Soccer and work has kept me from posting regularly, but what happened recently has rocked my world and not in a good way.  I may or may not be away for awhile.  Some one else will have to take my rotations on the Tardis.  As always, I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike: I hope everything works out for you.

*

Time for me to call it a night. Today was busier than I thought it would be. I didn't have much time to myself. My father called this morning to say the WE were going to be going to some places in town. Post office first to send some things off. Next was Vernon Medical to have the power chairs charger checked out. It checked out as good. They said if the batteries were too low the charger wouldn't detect them and wouldn't put out a charge. We then went to several stores get some things then to the nursing home to see my mother. Afterward we went to Buffet City for lunch then back home. We took the power chair apart and removed the batteries. I put a Smart Charger deep cycle battery charger on the first one on 2 amp charge then went home to get some rest. Last nights close call plus today's activity had left me quite tired. I went back later to check the progress of the charge. My father had left for work by then. He had hooked the first battery back up and put the charger on the second battery. When I looked it wasn't showing a charge or even a percentage of a charge. I made sure all the settings on the charger were right but still no change. If the battery was charged the charger would show the percentage of the charge. It shows nothing so I suspect we have a bad battery. No surprise as they're only guaranteed for a year. A new battery will cost over $100. Tomorrow I'll put my meter on the battery and see what kind of tale it tells. Too bad I don't have one that can check for load. See y'all tomorrow.

Hello all

Back at work for a few days. Almost getting down to freezing at night up here.

Well I called my friend Bill this morning (the guy who brought his '61 Lakewood to the telescope) and he came over to look at the car. First of all he said the tranny fluid was a bit low. OoopsDunce I do check it, but then I've only had a couple of automatics over the years. The main problem however was that the left carb had runneth over and was dumping fuel into the left bank of cylinders. Once again, I haven't had too many dealings with a dual carb setup like this, but it would appear my diagnostics have gotten a bit rustyTongue Tied But the good news is all it's needs is a float adjustment. And yes, Jack, the car did pick a good place to do this. I was even able to get it back into the driveway under its own power.

Jack, after my accident in March (with a car)  I decided 2 wheels were definitely not for me. It's going to a friend on a budget who can use the transportation. I mainly bought it for something to fiddle with. Once it starts I'm done.

Jeffrey - yeah it's prob the switch, but it's $35 and I think I'll leave it for the next owner.

Mike - your family is in my prayers

Kev - I imagine your friend now realizes what JEEP stands for - Just Empty Every PocketStick out tongue

Regarding the move, realistically I'm not going to be able to get out of there in less than a few weeks with my schedule. Hopefully another renter will come along by the time I'm ready. If it drags into November we'll just have to see.

UP is storing a LOT of covered hoppers on part of the recently bypassed line east on Tucson. Wonder what that's all about?

Morning all.  Breezy, humid and clouds flying by with sun in and out.  Big storms on the way so radar shows.  May have some severe ones coming from RT [SC] and GA.

Took kids to groomer this AM.  Got some errands to do. Hope to have time to pull some wiring from old layout.  Wifey "giving me a time" over not getting it demolished.  Yet, she will not find time to help me carry tubs [long flat ones] of cars to Box. Bang Head  Especially hard since have to come down fairly steep stairs.

Prayers for Mike and others.

Hope we all don't have storms.  I know this thing is moving NE [towards Fifey and Brent], hitting Pat in the VA mountains and another one coming from Ohio and WVA.

Have a good one.

Good morning. It's 69°. Humidity is 100%. Rainfall this morning has been 0.01". Mostly cloudy, isolated showers, high 82°.

I have to check the rear battery on the power chair. Pretty sure it's kaput. It wouldn't take a charge or show % of charge yesterday. Other than that nothing is planned.

Konbanwa,

The first day of the inspection went okay.  No earthshattering discrepancies were found and what was revealed we expected.  We have only two more days to go.  I worked late since the inspectors were here and I missed dinner.  The wife knew I would be working late and prepared accordingly.  I need to finish some schoolwork and get some sleep.

Kev – Those WWII style Willys are cool.  I sent you a response.

Jack – I’m glad Maximus was unharmed in the standoff and handled himself so well. Amazingly, I do not have any Yankee paraphernalia in my office; all I have on my desk are family photos and all I have on the walls is memorabilia from previous assignments and photos of some great people I have worked with during my Iraq deployments.  As much as I enjoy baseball and the Yankees, they do not compare to those other people.  But in case you haven’t noticed, the Yankees are on top again and the Sox are eliminated. Smile, Wink & Grin

Mike C. – I hope everything works out.  I’ll be praying for you.

RT – I’m glad the eBay thing worked out for you.

Bob – The wife and I had some a miscommunication about the mail so I just sent you something. Ashamed I’m sorry for the delay.  I hope the rental situation works out.

I hope everyone who is sick or has a sick loved one feels better.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good Mornin' Y'all From Overcast Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

Clouds, high winds, and about an inch of rain moving in here as well, low 70s expected.  I got up early to "water" the dog and wait him out on the other end so we won't be doing this stuff in the middle of a downpour.  Then I secured a few things out on the deck, easier than retriving it later.  After last Friday's reverse 911 call with a health alert, warning of EEE and West Nile virus, and the resulting scheduled overnight mosquito spraying expected for last night and the next two nights......nothing.  Now with the weather turning sour, the city's entire "mosquito abatement" plan will have to be shelved and rescheduled.  If the powers that be had just checked the forecast and commenced late Sunday evening into Monday, they would have gotten in 2/3 of the doses and been nearly home.  The infected mosquitoes are still out there and pay no heed to "the plan."

We've got three ballot questions coming up in November.  The first is mandating auto manufacturers to make available to citizens and local repair guys all of their repair info/data.  The second is a law re prescribing medication to end life.  The third is legalizing the medical use of marijuana.  When you read the "against" arguments provided by opponents for each question, you have to scratch your head.  I should not be forced to have my vehicle repaired at a dealership, the highest priced spread; and I support the private repair businesses and the jobs and choice they provide.  The end of life question should be a personal one, but one thing is clear:  in the past 60 years we have developed the technology and means to prolong death in a most inhumane and gruesome fashion.  And with medical marijuana, what makes one (FDA-approved) prescription drug to effectively treat pain and suffering OK while another verbotten?  While there is some merit in all three arguments, money is at the root of all three "against' arguments, not my best interests.  While this post may be wacked, it is nuetral, bipartisan, and a matter of personal choice.

Gotta get some laundry going or I may be running around naked.Surprise Laugh

Well put Jack and Jon. Yes

I agree.  My Mom told me not to let her suffer.  The last week her life, never waking, starving as did not eat [Dr. said do not force feed] and not knowing anyone was not good.  If it had been one of my pets, I would have taken it to the Vet and ended it.  Folks reply to me when I say that, "But it was your Mom!"  And I reply, "And that is why."  We knew she was dying and would not recover so????  20 years before, she had a brain aneurism.  She told my Dad [who was living then] and myself not to let them do brain surgery.  Dad came to me.  We met with Dr.  He said she is in great health for her age.  I asked, "What would you do if she were your Mom?"  He said operate.  I said do it.  She fussed me out when she came around after surgery.  Later she thanked me.  Different thing.  Then, I knew she had a great chance of surviving and living a good life.  She did.  20 years later she died within a few weeks of 94.  All but her last 5 years we good and only the last 6 months were bad.  The last 2 weeks were horrible.

This is not political.  It is opinion and we all have one and the right to express it.

That is what we Boston Red Sox fans said to our season over three months ago.  Add in next season with the way things are looking now.
