Good Morning CTTFans!

*Choke* *Cough* *Choke*

Yep, another major wildfire is loose the smoke has been pouring into the cities up and down the front range.  What started out as a 2 Acre fire is now 20,000 taking out homes and other structures in it's path.  It's mainly the winds that are driving this beast in all sorts of directions.

On a happy note, Lisa and I got out on Saturday to do some more Railfanning and I got photos of a few more stations plus other RR equipment.  My Travel Blog got updated on Sunday so you can take a peak at out Saturday RRAdventures trip.

It's 75 and overcast. We are suppose to get some much needed rain today but right now it doesn't look like it. We have already been out playing in our little garden and I got one other chore to do outside today. Well Monday it is, so have at it...S.J.

Aloha. Paradise. Hope Laz is enjoying his first Monday off by sleeping late. Shhh. Don't wake him.  BlownOut, prayers continuing for you. JoeD, there is nothing like a baseball game in Japan!  Kyojin ni iku!
Kev, looks like the kids had a great time outside.

Never grew up fishing so before I took the youngest out Sat, I read up and watched some videos. We could see the little fish checking out his bait but they were smarter than me, keep stealing his worms. Yesterday, I took him to a lemonade and ice cream social way out on the prairie put on by local re-enactors - it was quite fun. He made rope and learned how to wield a saber. The executive train was still in town on Friday. Here's the dome:

Good morning. It's 82° and partly cloudy. The high will be 95°.

Tired today. I didn't sleep well last night. Some kids down the road were getting loud and seemed they were practicing to break the land speed record for an ATV. I was wondering how fast I could I put six .38 sized holes in the ATV's gas tank with a certain long-barrel German made .38 I have or if maybe I should use arrows instead. Much quieter. Nah, I'm pretty rusty with a bow. It'd have to be the .38. They ceased making noise about 3:30 this morning. I think I'll just rest today as my temper tends to get the better of me when I'm tired. Maybe a general cleanup on the layout later. It's a mess after all the work on the Y6B. As I had figured my handicap problems made working on it a three ring circus. Everything took four times as long as it should have as I have only a few good fingers to work with. The others are just along for the ride and tend to get in the way. Now I know how my grandfather felt when I had to see how everything worked.

Blownout- Perhaps trying to recreate that scene may help take your mind off things... IdeaCool

Afternoon all.  Back from Lowes with 40 sheets of Soundstop and a batch of 2X4's.  Now benchwork today.  Got delayed by going to Eye Dr. for a bad eyelid thingy.  Did get fertilizer, nitriogen and spray for gardens.  Fred got deer food lot seed and salt blocks [for trip to Edgecombe Wed.].  Showers around but not in Rolesville. Bang Head

Prayers for those in the path of the fires but even more for the firefighters.  Dangerous stuff.

Blown, hang in there.

Well it rained then it rained again watched neighbors city trash can go floating down the road Laugh Not sure how much we got as we were basically on the line when they were reporting between 1-2" of rain and 2"-3" of rain so I'm guessing close to 2"  and the way it came down I believe it was real close if not a little over 2".

My head seems to be clearing up some so the cold I guess is starting to break up some my chest doesn't feel nearly as bad as it was this am I did wake up a few ago coughing but all seems calm for now.

Hope all had a good day.

Talk to you all later

Another lazy warm June day here this afternoon.  Did get a few things done this AM.  Cleared out some old boysenberry bushes and got soaking wet working in the sun.  Did a good watering job on the entire yard and plants.  Gave the pool what it wanted and did a little grocery shopping after that.  Just crashed after lunch and reclinerized while staring at the boob tube.  No trains today and it is too hot now to go out there so will give them a rest today.  Picked up some nice sirloin steak on sale at the market today and will try out on the new broiler/oven I just bought.  Don't want to fire up the big grill for just one thing.  Attended a nice reception/lunch for our new deacon after church yesterday.  Most of the food were things not on my A list but I survived.  It was good though.  We have a photographer who usually post the happenings at train meets here but have not seen one yet for the one I missed on Sunday.

later,

Ray

Woke up this morning to a thunderstorm.  Was still cloudy but dry by lunch, and the sun was out at dinnertime.  The rain was much needed, but an all day drizzle would have been better.

Watched the 7th F1 race of the season yesterday.  7th different driver won.  Very interesting season.  Lotus is ahead of Ferrai in the constructor's points.

All for now.

Good evening everyone.  About ready for bed so I wanted to stop in for a quick cup.  Joe, mine is only seven and less than fifty pounds.  I am sure yours would be beyond the Daddy, would you carry me age.

V8, I would look at the few minutes as a blessing.  Just think, you could have been sitting on it for some time and finally sell it, she would still make the commission and who knows, you may have had to sell it for less.  In today's market, the fact that you sold it for a good price in a fast deal is great.  I have friends who have been sitting on million dollar real estate and finally selling on pennies on the dollar of value.

Chief, good luck with all that sound stop.  Make sure you wear a mask when cutting that stuff!  Remember the mess from last time?

After work today, I was able to pick up wife and take her out for Sushi.  She loves it, as do I.  And yes, I do use chop sticks!  We also mailed off a bunch of money for the orphanage.  As I mentioned in an earlier post, it beats walking around with so much on your person.  Never forget driving home from the bank with a wad of new $100.00 bills on the seat next to me.  It might look good, but you can imagine the thoughts going through your mind..."yeah, watch I will get pulled over and they will think it is drug money!", or "watch me have an accident!".

Well, time for bed.  Will continue with prayers.  BTW, anyone interested, they are doing a simulcast from our church to many churches around the country and world.  If you are interested, this Friday night.  It is called Men of Honor and is about being the godly man we were meant to be.

God bless,

Dennis

Time for me to call it a night. Been over to David's place tonight talking with his father. Just idle conversation to pass the time. No layout work today. Weather forecast for tomorrow is looking wet.

This is about how I feel today:

See y'all tomorrow.

Got up early and got Char to the hospital by 9.  They wanted to get her in early for her sinus surgery, but with new computer system and etc, she didn't go back until about 11.  She made it back to recovery a little after noon, but was there for hours.  They gave her fentanyl, which knocked her out and suppressed her breathing.  I finally got her home about 6 PM only to find Chewy was covered in diarrhea.  Soooo - I cleaned up the dog and we finally got something to eat.  I found my my Mom will have to have her thyroid out and some chemo, but everthing seems to be under control there.  Just a bad week to be around me, I guess, lol.

TARDIS - take me away!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Go Yankees.  Beat the Braves 3 to 0. Yes  Frankie and "To be" are in Atlanta for the games.  She is a die hard Braves fan.  Son is even named Maddox.  Maddox is now a Yankee fan with Frankie and myself.  Beth better hope Braves win the next one or she will not be able to stay in the car with Frankie coming home. Laugh

IT RAINED GOOD.  Storm Yes  Thank you Lord. Big Smile

Things got side tracked.  Not much Box work done today.  Getting rest of framing lumber and Sound Stop home was a big thing.

"Eye issue" is better.  Probably came from so much saw dust and then mowing dust kept it going.

Brutus, double prayers for you.  Rough day.

Kev the killer.

Off to bed.  Sleep tight.

Konnichiwa,

I have a few moments to write a quick post from the office.  It is raining again today so I was not able to get my long run in yet.  I do not feel my usual self when I don’t have my running time.  I have the usual paperwork to complete at work and nothing exciting is going on.  I may check back in tonight prior to retiring for the night.

Laz – The fans reminded me of a student body section at a college football game.  I was very impressed with their enthusiasm and it was always in good taste.

Doug M. – I will hopefully get to a Giants game soon.  It was very fun and the Japanese play baseball very well which also makes for a good game.

Dennis – Yeah, she is passed that stage.  Every now and then if she is not feeling well she will ask me to carry her upstairs to her bedroom but it has been a long while since she has asked.  I guess they have to grow up sometime.  I haven’t seen the Men of Honor simulcast advertised out here.  Is there a way to watch it on the web from my house?

Brutus – I’ll be praying for your mom, Char, and you.

Sayonara,

Joe

Joe, I am not sure about watching simulcast.  I think if you go to www.sherwoodbaptist.net/menofhonor that may give you some answers.  I Just went to the Lifeway link that the search takes you to.  It costs $5.00, I believe that should allow you to see it.  It is the same fee regardless of venue.  They had told us it was set so low so every church could afford to show it.  If you wanted to, you could have friends over.  If the time does not work, again, the Australia showing may work, but I don't know the details. I know they have something like 600 churches signed up already.  They also mentioned it will be broadcast in Australia in a month, so that may be another way.  I will ask around here to see if I can get a better answer soon.

About ready to take kids to vacation bible school, then work.  We have been getting quite a bit of rain here.  Just hope it holds till the kids are done having fun.

God bless,

Dennis

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Got ready last night for a new refrigerator to be delivered today.  Need rain badly here, but at least I do not have to mow the grass.  Prayers going out to all who need them.  I had bran muffins again on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL and I left the keys under the pilot's seat again instead of putting them up on the designated hook.  That is what I get for not driving regulary.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

It's 73 and sunny. Granny said we got some rain during the night. It couldn't have been much as the pavement is dry. Looks like our next chance won't be till Sunday. No special plans for the day. I smell bacon.

Good Morning CTTFans!

It's 58F and clear heading up to the low 80's.

FIRE NEWS:  Sadly this thing is still growing; now over 41,000 acres and sadly 1 death is now reported - Linda Steadman, 62, died in the blaze / She lived at 9123 Old Flowers Road.  I have not seen the updated map get posted yet but I have heard from folks at CSU say they can see the flames now from within Ft. Collins itself now so it's closing in on the western edge of the city.  I believe this is now officially the the 3rd largest fire in Colorado history...

Here is a different map from yesterday that shows how close it is getting to Ft. Collins now

Good morning. It's 79° and thunder is rumbling. The high will be 92°. There's a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be severe.

The wind is coming up, trees are bowing over and debris is hitting my little trailer. I can hear the thunder getting closer. Not a drop of rain yet. All indications point to this being sleeping weather. I'm not feeling well today so I may get some sleep in later. Thunder is getting closer. Time to go.

Mornin' boys.  Mid-Atlantic ---> Storm.  Oh, and our president is in town for a 10K per plate fund-raiser.

Speaking of "change", I just changed the oil in the Chevy.  Gas is down to $3.33.  Never see $2 again.

Greetings All,

Just to drop in and give a Howdy.

Had a visitor for awhile, had a great time!  (More on that later)

Still pushing the Steam engine around Knotts, the "part time" position has grown into a full time job.  Working 40 hours a week !  It is getting a little confusing, I believe I am paying for my OWN SS.

Have a couple of days off, today need to do some work at in-laws, install/repair a bathroom light fixture, fix some dripping faucets, and probably do the lawn.  Then tomorrow, do our lawn, and help the wife out on a few things.

Havn't had time to do much with the trains, maybe tomorrow evening.  Will try and manage some train time for a friend of mine this evening.  He asked for my help on his layout, building the table top, and wiring.  Did the planning for him and it is a big layout.  So will try and help as possible.

The Goose Fest is scheduled for this weekend in Colorado, we have been working at Knotts to prepare #3 for the event.  All freshly painted, new lettering, and looking great.  Management decided not to let it go, a couple of days ago.  Many people are upset about that, especially the 11th hour decision.  So it will be setting at the park until it is put back in service this fall.  It would have been a historic event for all of them to have been there, would have been the first time ever!  I can understand the concerns at Knotts regarding the Risk/Benefit issues.  But, too bad it was such a late determination.

Work on my G scale dogbone had not gone real far.  I have the ground preparred, track bed arranged, track configured, (but not installed).  Last weekend I did get to a train store Clearance Sale and found a G-Scale C-16 Steam engine.  The engine is identical to what I operate at Knotts, only thing is it Yellow.  I originally thought I would repaint it.  But did some research on the engine and found what I got is quite rare, my cost was $40, original MSRP was $500, current value $700-$900.  So dont think I will repaint, and will most likely only get outside rarely.

Need to get going.

Hope everyone stays healthy and wealthy!

Regards

Don

I found a sure-fire way to get my wife up out of bed. Just tell her that the raccoons knocked over one of her planters. Surprise Laugh

Well prayers for Blownout, Brutus and those in need. Angel
