Prayers are out for Lucas and for you and the rest of your family, Mike.

Just a nice day out today - 80 degrees and mostly sunny.  Storms are coming tonight and we'll have rain for a couple days with lower temps in the 60s I guess.

Char had to get an antibiotic as her sinus stuff set up into an infection.  She'll be on a z-pack for a few days.  Really we are all doing a lot better and this is just a minor thing.  Tomorrow is my Mom's birthday, but they are going to Des Moines on the weekend, so we won't see my folks for another week I guess.  We'll try to set up a family dinner out somewhere.

Playing around with Minecraft a little more - I have my train working - now to figure out where I want it to go and also trying to think about any sidings I need.  It's a fun little game Smile

TARDIS is ready and we'll come pick everyone up shortly so turn on your beacons!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Morning

Sunshine and warm temperatures....in March?  ...normally around here it is slushy and cold and grey...

Getting some things done that were not getting done the last few days....he phoned up last night and we babbled into the evening..he will be on a low salt diet...but the thing here is that he will be having to take some heavy duty anti-cholesterol meds...although he was of normal weight..around 170lb for 5'10" he still had what is frequently called hypercholesterolemia...high cholesterol...

MikeC:  Prayers for you and yours...Angel

Good Mornin' Y'all From Crystal Clear and Sunny Taxachusueets,

It will be another warm one here today with an expected record high for a March 22.....maybe 82.  Many of the East coast Potters may remember the April Fools Day blizzard of 1997 that in my neck of the woods dumped 25+ inches of snow.  Warren........that's the kind of snow you should get in Colorado.   That set a record here for an April storm, and I believe the accumulation was a record for the most for a 24 hour period here, a record that still stands.  The N'oreaster's high winds off the Atlantic caused the final nail in the coffin, drifting!  That was the final exclamation point in a Winter that dumped 120+ inches on me.  And guess who didn't have a snowblower back then?  Yup.  Me. Bang Head

MikeC........prayers continue for Lucas.  Hang in there, buddy.  I know I speak for the rest of us when i say Lucas anf the family will be in our collective thoughts and prayers. Angel

Bob........I was glad to hear you were not hurt in the accident and that there were no injuries in the other vehicle.  Many times when this happens the collision center will be willing to touch up a few other things for you for no charge or very short money.  You may want to "suggest" it to the body shop guys.  That is what I do.  The last time was when my right rear quarter got smacked in a parking lot while I was standing right next to my car.  I was able to get the whole rear fascia resprayed, another snafu compliments of the wife who, despite backup sensors in the rear providing warning bells and lights, managed to defeat the failsafe system by ignoring it and backing right into the vehicle behind her. Bang Head

Brutus........hope Char is feeling better this morning as I type this.

SP Ray........I am not buying the story that you hurt your neck by cranking your head around to see the pastor.Whistling  Someone else?  Glad you are on the mend. Thumbs Up

Later, gang.

Jack

Good morning. It's 51° and partly cloudy. The high will be 78° and it'll be mostly sunny. Boy that's a welcome change!

I saw in the reports this morning that we're under a flood warning. NO KIDDING! I wonder what their first clue was!

Last night I took my KCS SW1500 off the display rack, gave it a quick servicing as it hasn't been run in more than a year then gave it a run on the layout, which I of course caught on video. Here's the link for that: KCS SW1500 4331.

I didn't get much sleep last night. Around 4:00 am I woke up and went to turn over to get more comfortable. I did the old thing of pushing the right elbow into the mattress to roll over to the left. I've done I don't know how many times without any problem. This time however I managed to dislocate my right shoulder! Needless to say I was wide awake! Well, I did something that I've practiced before but never done. I did a SOLO relocation of the shoulder joint. One of the many things my mother taught me from her experience as a nurse of all things. Sometimes I wonder what she hasn't done. Anyway I was successful on the second try and the pain faded to a dull ache after ten or so minutes. It feels much better now but is still a little tender. That's not going to stop me from working on the layout. Now if my father calls me wanting me to do something, yeah, that would stop me.

I hope everyone else has a great day. Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a cool and sunny 60 degrees. Going up to 84 today with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of chores to do and a mountain of paperwork. I will be busy until lunch. Then, a nap. Then, I have to take one of our dogs, Woo, to our friend for grooming. He is a brown Cocker Spaniel.

Yesterday, there was a nice breeze. We opened our windows. No A/C needed.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a nice Thursday.

Mornin' Fellas

UGH I feel like I got hit by a Big Boy! But it was just another virus from Little Girl!!!! I THOUGHT I was healthy, that was until Christina came along... good Lord!

MikeC - I missed your post about Lucas Angel prayers will indeed be raised!

Going to meet our Accountant tonight to see how much The Fed is embezzeling/stealing from us this year. Last year Susan and I paid MORE in taxes than I GROSSED when I graduated from College... that is disgusting. In a few years we'll probably pay MORE in taxes than I PAID for my first HOUSE!

All I can say is success is no longer rewarded in The USA... at least it doesn't seem that way.

Problem is we really don't any good choices in November - no matter who 'wins' the repub nomination... and that is SAD.

---
REALLY looking forward to York. I started my list and looks like Woodland Scenics is going to be getting a good chunk of my $$$! The good news is it is because I'm rapidly approaching a full scale scenicing stage - no more track realignments!

OH - Not sure I mentioned it, but I stopped by the LTS last Thursday and they had the new C&O S2 Switcher - AWESOME! - Christina watched the trains till she saw the owner was using a remote... then all she wanted was the remote!!! (she is definitely Daddy's girl).

Chief - here ya go!

I'm so prim and propper!

Ready for Daddy's Birthday!

Working from home today waiting for someone to deliver my corporate credit card. So I will be taking classes on the PC. Dunce You would think after 39 years of service they would know by now there is no more chance of them making me politically correct than there is of us making Chief politically correct. DougDG, Love that dog building. What a neat idea.

On a more somber note, the wife and I visited the cemetery at sunset to wish our grandson a happy birthday.  It seems like only yesterday when we lost him.  My little guy would have been five.

Brush fire warnings are posted for the near term.  The firefighters will have their hands full.  The unseasonably low Winter snowfall and precipitation levels, coupled with the current dry spell and warmer weather, have things reaching parched status.  The daffodils have bloomed, by about 3-4 weeks earlier than I can remember that happening in the past 25 years.

The battle lines have been drawn in my back yard.  Nawthener Private First Class Maximus the dog, standing alone against the REB Canadian geese army, migrating up from the South where they wintered in North Carolina.  If you have never tried to run off some of those geese, you might be surprised at how nasty and aggressive they can be, turn, and attack!!!  No contest, the outnumbered Nawthener Maximus took on the whole REB army and sent them flying, not running, back to the pond.  One of the geese was sporting a Rolesville Mayor t-shirt. Laugh

Chuck......do you get your hair cut alongside Woo, your brown Cocker Spaniel, when you are at the pet groomers?  That is what I think the Chief does, though they have to keep him on a tight leash and keep feeding him.   Whistling   We are fortunate on the grooming expense front becaiuse Maximus has very short hair (not fur or a heavier coat).  My wife does the bathing thing on the deck (weather permitting0 and in the bathtub.  No matted fur clumps or trimming required!

Leonardo da Wimberly........when are you going to turn that A/C front grate and turn it into a mountain to match your walls around the train room? Thumbs UpBow

LAZ.........t-minus about 6.5 weeks and counting!!!! Thumbs Up

Banks........hope your Mom is continuing to make progress. Bow

Rich.........sounds as if the recent Princess versus DAD drama has peacefully subsided and that parental love and wisdom has prevailed. Thumbs Up  Get your rear in gear and start looking for that Pulsar for the Princess.  It is your ace in the hole for the next "dance."  Teens........ya gotta love them.  They keep the antacid, blood pressure medication, and hair coloring industries afloat. Smile, Wink & Grin  Did you make it to asbury Park yesterday on the Harley?

We seem to have lost Charlie!!!!!!!  Must be hiding out with JimSP.

AF Ray.........please explain to me the rationale behind the Jets picking up a scrambling quarterback (tebow) as backup to a drop back passer/offense.  You have to have a moment of sympathy for the New York Jets offensive line......a very brief moment.  They had better find another position for that guy.

Later, gang.

Good Morning CTTFans!

Another seasonal day today and then summer kicks in early as we head towards 80F by Monday; YUK!

More NCAA Basketball action tonight, I wonder how much worse my picks will be this round but hey I only but about 5 minutes of thought into it and I still have Kentucky winning so maybe my rank will get better compared to those that went with others whos #1 team is already out but picked better then me in Round 1 & 2...

Mornin' Guys!

Bob - Glad you are ok...gotta watch dem brain farts....Bang Head

As far as the "wives" are concerned...yeah after 20 years I did learn revisionist history, selective hearing and how to pick my battles.  The old adage ya can't keep 'em and ya can't shoot 'em sometimes applies.  I know there are a few good ones out there (ask my Dad....Mom's a keeper!).  Just need to weed out the nut jobs.....Bang Head.  And I have no ambition to start now.  I had my eye on one, but she's married and a good friend.  We just missed each other, somehow.....

As far as the Pulsar goes...right now that's my daily driver.  It ain't quick by any stretch and 5th gear is gone (it is a 5 speed manual), so I'm sure she can handle it.  The neon was on the back burner until I had the cash to repair it.  Now that both cars run, we can start figuring out how to pay for the insurance and tags....

When asked why she gets a manual tranny car (cuz right now that's all I have), I told her that if she wanted my roadrunner, she'd better learn to drive stick, as the roadrunner is a 4 speed....that quelled any issues.....Laugh.  Princess has had issues about staying, but I just re-enforced the advantages and benefits of staying here....fatherly love and logic wins out.  Brent and a lot of youse giz know,. a daughter has you wrapped around your finger for the most part, but a grander love from a child I'll never know.  She makes my day just by being around.

Jack - nope didn't go...I didn't like the weather, the sun didn't warm up the atmosphere and by the shore it's colder.  And it was late......Whistling I MAY ride to work today if the fog leaves.... 'sposed to hit 80 if the fog dissipates. And my condolences on your grandchild.  It's a tough deal - Angel

Making plans to go to Newark on the 31st....NJ Devils Blood Drive.  Plan to take NJ Transit train to Penn Newark, walk a block, get vampirized, hit the train back and go to work.  Oh, my appointment is at 0615.  Work at 9.  Let's see how close I can cut this one......I get a special hat and T-Shirt for my efforts.  I donate a pint, spent 20 bucks and get apparel.....sound like everyone wins.

OK, I'm off.  Things to accomplish before work at 1 then fire drill at 630.....

I'll check in from work as time allows....

Rich

Konbanwa,

I have time for a quick post before turning in for the night.  I was able to sign up the Princess for the snowboarding trip this Saturday so I will have the two older kids with me now.  This only increases the probability of an injury.  I also purchased some MLB tickets today.  The Athletics and Mariners are playing two season opening games here in Japan.  The older son and I will be at the first game on March 28th.  They are playing in the Tokyo Dome which is where Japan's version of the Yankees plays.

I'll pray for all those in need.

Sayonara,

Joe

Hello all

Clear and fairly sunny here on top of the mountain. Another day of fun w/ the engineers.

Anj - yeah that definitely counted as a synaptic misfire on my part. Sometimes I wonder if I'm getting too used to all those miles where I don't have to stop or something? Regardless, semi-automatic pilot is not good in motor vehicles...

Jack - I doubt they will be fixing this one. Damages are over 8K w/ more to come probably. The car only books out at 10K, not exactly a high price vehicle. Was only on it's first oil change though. Sigh...

BlownoutCylinder - great that you were there for your friend and thoughts and prayers for his recovery!

Joe - :) good thing the Iowa will be tied to a dock while I am there...

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s again.  I am again overwhelmed by your responses.   Lucas is where he needs to be right now.  For the longest time, there has been a shadow hanging over him and just when I thought it might be gone, it has come back.  Maybe now something can be done so it will be ok.  This road he travels will not be an easy one, and the trip will be a long one.  I cannot yet bring myself to share details.  When I can, I will.  Thank you all again for giving him the one thing he needs.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Can's believe its warmer here than in Louis-ana. Bob, glad you're feeling OK. Jack, my condolences on the anniversary of such a painful loss. Prayers for you too, Mike, not just Lucas.

Well, we should hear from the boy's first college choice today. If I was a betting man, I'd say it'll be a no, but  I've been surprised before.... Should go outside to sit in the Vitamin D.

Been to see the doc about my shoulder. He says I bent it up and back and if the pressure is right it'll pop it out of socket. It still aches but that's due to pulled muscles. I'm to avoid any heavy lifting for a couple of weeks.

JimmyT.......I got pretty fed up with my son’s non-functioning cars cluttering up the driveway and hemorhaging all manner of automotive fluids.  Was beginning to look like one of the auto graveyards on Jeffrey's layout.  After a while the cars morphed into flower pots and bee hives.  I think you may be wearing out your welcome in your own domicile.  One more PGT may be the straw that broke the camel's back and render you homeless. Whistling

Brent and JimmyT.........re the heavy tax burden.  When you get to be my age, you want to stay in your home and enjoy it, enjoy the fruits of your labors.  At the rate we are being bombarded by a higher tax and fee burden.....federal, state, and local.....the dynamics are changing fast.  The American dream used to include home ownership.  Now home retention is fast becoming the American dream.  Sad

I chatted with the Chief briefly by phone, one of our rare mano-a-mano cellular exchanges.  He said he shouldn’t be speaking to a Yank.  But I told him he had a dispensation from his chronies constituents and absolution from above. Smile, Wink & Grin

Buckeye.......you must be in seventh heaven re the NCAA Sweet 16 with all of the Ohio teams still in the mix.  The Chief?  Not so much.

DougM........I got to wondering.  Have you ever missed the last train to Crystal Lake?

Rich......re the Princess driving a car with a manual transmission, I taught my daughter to drive on my T-topped Camaro with a 4-speed.  The wife was terrified to take her out to teach her to drive, probably thought I was expendable. Surprise  We wouldn't allow our kids to own a car while in high school.  And wifey was adamant about said daughter never driving "Mom’s" car, not ever.  So guess whose car was now a shared car? Bang Head

Jeff.......I have a theory about how you dislocated your shoulder in bed.  I just can’t print it on a family- friendly forum.  Laugh

Later, gang.

Jack

Jack,

The way my dad saw it was that more cars in the driveway means less snow to remove from the driveway if and when we got any.Laugh
