Well in my 59 years, today is the first ever I had to cut grass in March. Huh? Went pretty good till the old HuskyVarney pitched a belt on the drive.  Bang Head  I still have the snow plow on my large 72" mower on the 3203 Deere so I thought I would do it with the 48". Ha ha.  Dunce  Well it just happens the drive belt is the top belt in a mass of belts so I had to remove the deck to get at it and once I did, I decided to get a new one as long as I was that deep. Finished the rest of the lawn, all is well. YesThat little mower beat the H*&& out of me.  Dead

RIJack U are sooo correct about kids.I still hate to see them suffer but got to cut those apron strings. Hmm

Laz, Thanks man, I think I will start buying the consist for the Miller High Life express.  Beer   Beer

Well in my 59 years, today is the first ever I had to cut grass in March.

That's early in your neck of the woods? On average I'm cutting grass as early as the first part of February and some years it gets cut right through Christmas/New years. This year it was a little slow and require the first cutting until the last part of February. Since then I've cut three times and it needs it again. With all the recent rains I have to wait for the yard to dry out some. Part of the back yard is still under water.

Well after all the work I put into fixing the track problem last night and this morning the trains now run smoothly all the way around the layout. The lap time I just checked was fifty-seven seconds covering nine inches of track each second. I don't know what scale speed that works out to but it looks believable.

STORMS!!!  Rained all day.  Weather alert just went off.  We are going to get hit.  Line of severe thunder storms headed east.  Rolesville is named as being hit.  Tornado watch all afternoon and tonight.

Big fiberglass shower was sold to folks west of here.  Should have taken then 1 1/2 hours to get here.  Took them 3 1/2 hours.  Kept getting off of Interstate at wrong places before Raleigh.  Sent them home with directions.  Last I talked with them they were fast on their way on I-85 west [which they knew how to get back].  Thought they must be from Ohio originally as could not follow Map Quest. Whistling

Guy came and bought stove and dryer from the Box.

Now to saw out a rotten spot under where shower was.  Particle board got wet and is bad.  Floor joists are fine.  Then level out floor with plywood which will cover plumbing holes.  Ceiling still has not been finished by Grady.  He helped get walls out.  Then came to me, "Chief, can you let me hold a $20 for the weekend?"  "I know I owe you a lot of money but I need some to tie me over."  Then said he was going to work on Box early this AM.  Have not seen him.  He is a mess. Confused

Good luck OSU. [have to be nice to Buckeye.  he helps keep my SS coming in Big Smile]

This may be why.  From Wikipedia

The Lima-Hamilton LT-2500 (sometimes referred to by its Specification Number - A-3177) is a diesel-electric transfer-unit locomotive, built by the Lima Locomotive Works between 1950 and 1951. The LT-2500 was the final locomotive model produced by Lima-Hamilton before the company merged with the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1951.

All twenty-two units were purchased by the Pennsylvania Railroad. All have been scrapped.

Why did MTH build this then??

Good evening everyone.  Been a good day, but I am tired.  Got most of the work SWMBO had planned for me, all good.  Took family out for dinner and we had to do some shopping.  Finally home and heading to bed.  I transfered a bunch of files and photos to a external hard drive.  Should have cleared much needed space on this laptop.  We have several other computers, but this is the most accessible when hanging with the family.

Ray, glad you got things straightened out.  With regard to SuperAntiSpyware, I run the program on all the computers every week night except Friday.  Also, Sunday morning about 0200.  It is set on auto to do so.  I will on occassion run it during the day if it has been a little while since I saw it done.  When I came home from Colorado this last time, the computer was slow and it came up with almost a thousand hits.  Removed them all.  I guess that is what happens when the kids go to these sites to play games.

Chief, hope he gets that work done soon.  Was contemplating getting some shipping containers to make an barn to store my lawn equipment and tools.  I would have to dress it up real nice to make it fit in the neighborhood.  Would also have to check with the county to make sure they allow such.

Well, gotta run, time for bed.
God Bless,
Dennis

Sorry I missed SJ tonight - hope you feel better soon, man.  This crud is really bad.  Char enjoyed her cards and cake, but she's still fighting this stuff - blah.  We just watched Iron Eagle - good old movie, but not believable at all.  Never say die, Iron Eagle!  Laugh  Sounds like Doug is making good time.  Chief, my buddy Jeff found out the flooring in his lake house was particle board - had flooding around the parking area that went up over teh sill of the house and the whole floor was ruined in that end of the house.  He's still working on that project a year later, due to weather and having to do outside work to keep it from happening again.

Dennis - does your son play it on suvival/normal mode?  Those bad guys can really gang up on you!

Good morning. It's 54° and clear. Wind NNE 0 mph. The high will be 82°.

Power went out for a short time early this morning (around 3 am). I woke up when the familiar noises stopped. You'd think noises would wake you up when they start, not when they stop.

I had a problem with the trains last night that was a bit of a head scratcher. I had rearrange some of the cars and from that moment on one of the locos (didn't matter which set was pulling) would derail at some point on the layout. Each loco set had it's favorite spot. With the Bachmann GP7's it was the turnout next to the east wall and only the trailing unit. The Atlas FP7's it was the curve in the north corner of the layout and only the lead unit. With the Atlas GP40's it was the north turnout next to the west wall and only the lead unit. The GP9 Frankensteins were the only ones that had no problem. Go figure. Well, since all this started after the cars were rearranged there must be something about that because I don't see that many varied track problems popping up all at once. The two cars just behind the locos are a pair of Tyco Old Dutch Cleanser covered hoppers and all I'd done with them was switch them around. Both have metal wheels and both both have body mounted Kadee #242 coupler boxes.  The only difference is one has #118 shelf couplers and the other has #119 shelf couplers. It seems crazy that one car would cause the locos to have problems while the other one didn't but I decided what the hey. I changed them around again, put the lead car behind the one that had been behind it and what do you know, the problem vanished, at least with the GP7's and GP40's. I haven't tried the FP7's yet. Correction, I'm now running the FP7's and they too seem to be happy now. Stranger and stranger.

I have just been informed I need to go out and dry off the front seats in the car.  It rained last night, and it appears "someone" left the sunroof open about 12."   Not too bad because we didn't get much rain, but Bang Head anyway.  On the bright side, the front seats and the console will be nice and clean. Jeff, glad you found your track ghost.

Yeah, that was about to drive me nuts. I checked wheel gauge, track gauge, wheel alignment (do they rub against the trucks or are the centered). That's weird how two cars set up the same way can have different effects on motive power.

Good morning,

Just getting ready for church.  Did not go to the Train Shack sale yesterday in Burbank.  Still need to pick up my MTH proto 2 E6 from friend's house and try some more tricks on it so he can get it started in conventional mode to work on the lights.

Announcement in news yesterday about a new section of light rail going into service in L.A. next month from downtown to near Culver City.  Work on line to my neck of the woods has not started yet but freeway bridge over 210 FWY is well under way.  After that they have to build about 11 miles of double track with catenary to get to near me.

Chief, glad you dodged the storm.  Better put some boat anchors on the box with all those tornado warnings around.

Just learned yesterday that our biggest West Coast Train meet by a club (Cal Stewart Meet) after several decades at the Pasadena Convention Center is moving to the Ontario, California Convention Center this coming November 2,3,4th.  It's not much more of a drive for me but it is a good venue for people flying in from out of town.  The Ontario Convention Center (OCC) is right next to the Ontario International Airport.  The Radisson hotel is offering free shuttle service to their hotel from the airport about a mile away to the hotel next to the OCC.  Rooms will go for $69 per night for conventioneers.  Hope some of you guys might make it.  There are other hotels nearby as well.  There is also a giant shopping mall near the OCC (Ontario Mills Shopping Center) for any wives who want to make a detour while the train meet is going on.  Of course the things Southern California is famous for, i.e. Disneyland, Palm Springs, Hollywood, Los Angeles, mountains and beaches are all within driving distance.

later,

Ray

Good afternoon everyone.  Another beautiful day here.  Was a great service this morning and I was not on camera, so I could sit with my family.

Ray, if you download the free version of superantispyware and then go to have an update (each day you run it), it will ask if you would like to upgrade to the professional version?  They usually will have a "special price" of either $19.99, or $9.99.  It changes from day to day.  I ordered it on a $9.99 day and that is for, I believe upto 5computers, per year.

Brutus, I asked my son, he says yes, he often does.  Then asked if you had a creeper blow up your house yet?  Often, he will build fantastic structures in creative mode, but he enjoys survivor mode as a challenge.

Well, while I was typing this, our son came in to tell me that our daughter had a little incident with her bike and my car.  Went to find a scratch of about ten inches down the side....ughhh!  Important thing is that she is alright.  Will have it checked out by a local shop to see about paint.

Well, gotta get a nap in before heading back to church tonight.

God bless.

Dennis

 ChiefEagles:

Kev & RT, buddy of mine in South Texas sent me a box.  Opened it.  Has Williams Santa Fe A,B,A F3's and a 4 set of Santa Fe passenger cars.  Also a Dash 8 Southern Pacific engine.  Wants me to sell them for him.  ?????  Sent me email and named me as his official train broker. Surprise Seems he is looking for a modern transformer to be able to run two trains.  I don't do Ebay.  Guess I could use Train City.  Have no idea what they are worth.

Chief, You have a buddy????????

Hey I sent you a PM   maybe even two?
