Good afternoon everyone.  Feeling a little better, bur have a way to go.  Come tomorrow, I will take some medicine and help will be on the way.  Church was great, we had Andy Andrews who has a book on the NYTimes best seller list.  If you get to read it, or see him speak, he is great.

Getting ready to leave for a violin concert at the local museum.  That and dinner with the instructor should keep us busy.  Will have to miss church, but will see the video later.

Gotta run, but that was a nice layout in the video.

Chief, regarding the ZW's, a friend of mine wants to replace a power cord on his.  What's involved with that?  How does the new cord connect to the ZW.  Is it soldered on or what?

Went to TCA meet yesterday but did not buy anything.  Saw a lot of trains running on display though.  There was a 226E with the green passenger cars in excellent shape and two of the Lionel remakes of the Commadore Vanderbuilt type steam engines although only 4 driving wheels.  There was a red one and a blue one with matching cars.  They are prewar look alikes.  Nice stuff and ran great.  Also on display was the Lionel standard gauge Brute electric with one of the new longer matching passenger cars.

Another train meet coming up next Sunday March 4th at TTOS Southwestern Division but I have conflicting things to do after church.  I dislike these meetings on Sunday because I have to juggle my church schedule but maybe it was the only day the hall was available.  Years ago they used to meet on Friday night.  That was the best ever because it was at the start of your weekend and left you free to do whatever for the remainder.

Nice video of the train layout with plenty of action.  Enjoyed watching the turntable working.  Those take up a lot of real estate on layouts.

Dennis V8, I haven't heard about any rain today but the paper said showers tomorrow.  However your predictions have been better than the weatherman lately.  Guess I better roll up the windows in my old Buick.

Doug in Sandy Eggo,  you are amazing doing all that you do after your heart problems.  Take it easy.  A friend of mine is still on the mend after heart surgery two weeks ago.  He is doing good but still tires very easily.  I guess that goes with the territory as you probably know.

Gas prices going through the roof in L.A. between 4.19 and 4.23 for regular yesterday.  It goes up a little every day. Any progress on economic recovery will back in the tank again if this keeps up.  Have to plan my driving trips better and combine chores now instead of running around so much.

Light rail line still two years away from us but building (like a snail).

later,

Ray

RT, Bob got it right. It did not chuff, they say all you heard was the hissing steam that powered the turbine. Pennsy only made 1 as it was only cost efficient at high speeds. However as you know Lionel made thousands of them.

RT - the Pennsy 6-8-6 doesn't chug because it's a turbine! I think I could hear a turbine sound but having no idea what one might sound like we'd have to ask Charlie or SJ to clarify.

Well I owe a friend of mine in Chicago some $ for helping me out recently, and it occurred to me that he has 2 young sons.  Well guess what? Turns out they are 5 and 9 and do not have a train set. The Amtrak PA will be heading their way soonGift. It was kind of an impulse buy (of course what isn't in this hobbyConfused) and I've only been just dragging around the cars w/ the 2025. The PA sits quietly on display as I'm just not a diesel guy (at least not for model trains). They also happen to have an unused basementSurpriseSmile, Wink & Grin

Charlie I've watched that video a few times and keep coming up with questions like does the PRR 6-8-6 not have chug sound as it seemed it was running with out it but the whistle sounded great and tender looked great on that engine.

Well it looks like I got 4 of the 5 N/S flats with triple crown trailers on them and the smoking caboose sold for right at what it will cost me to get the ac commander board and rail sounds 4 board for the N/S engine Which will be good. that will give me my forth dual motor tmcc engine.

Not much else going on here as train wise. Did also sell a left hand remote switch with controller. I bought 100 grain of wheat bulbs 4 mm clear so can use them for a few applications but what I'll do with 100 who knows will do some experiments to try different things may see about lighting some buildings maybe who knows. Coming from china so will be a while till I get them. May try to add ditch lights to the N/S dash 8-40C think I can do that and it will look great to have them. They did have red ones but they where only 12v and figured if I need red or any other color I could paint the lens and have different colors.
Going to stick around the house today wifes cooking a roast beef dinner so that will be good.
Well going to move on will probably post later today or tomorrow have a good Sunday all.

Well I checked my mail stack and found a padded envelope containing two Athearn loco shells. One of a Soo Line (red and white) SD40-2 and the other is for a C&NW F7-A.

Hi GUYZ,

Went to ALLENTOWN SHOW yesterday.  We got there at 1045, CHUCK shot a rubberband of SNO HI O at us but we arrived safe.  SNO HI O Fell heavy for about 20 minutes got an inch and had to go into 4WD going over the Blue Mt.  Easy after that.  Bought a Reading covered hopper for 30 and a Reading 4 bay hopper for 20 thats it.  Went to eat at usual  bar there and had our fill.  Came home and ran trains for BRO and BUDDY had a few OL MILs.  All good NO PILE UPs went to bed.

Today got laundry to do and take my gal for a run.

SIR JAMES and CHARLIE, looks like a great time.  NORMs layout is mesmorizing!  Real nice.

Joe, Norms layout is in a rebuild stage, it's not near completed as far as scenery goes. He has lots of buildings and misc. to add. First impression is you are in Pennsylvania. No plans for today and no trip into the kitchen yet..S.J.

Good morning. It's 44° and sunny. The high will be 68° and it'll be partly cloudy.

Nothing in particular planned for today. I'll go to my parents place later and see if anything of interest has arrived in the mail. The layout can stand some more cleaning up. I took my Bachmann GP30's off the market yesterday. Seems like people were thinking I should give away two DCC equipped locos..

Hello all.

Clear and cold again here on the mountain. System coming thru tomorrow w/ some heavy winds, so we'll probably have to batten down the hatches at some point.

Chief - looking forward to getting the ZW. I will prob sell off the KW soon to offset the cost of the ZW. I'll prob use the RW for accessories or switches. Eventually my thought was to have it be the yard engine transformer.

BlownoutCyl - love the photo of the "gasser"!

Charlie - thanks for the video. That is one impressive layout.

Kev - got a post on the smoke unit thread

My brother got the N-gauge stuff. He was running it on the table as he emailed meBig Smile Been a while since he's had a train running.Think I put a smile on his face.

Not much on the schedule today. May set the "jewels" in the marker lights of the 1664 and then stretch her legs a bit.

Konbanwa,

I was up very late last night finishing my last assignment for this first class.  I then had an early group meeting for my group's collaborative project for the class.  I am very tired and need to get some sleep soon.  At least the first class is finished and I have a week off.  I decided to take a week of leave from work too.  The family and I are going to Tokyo tomorrow and will spend three nights there.  We have a nice list of things we want to see.

Dennis - I'm glad the school is doing well.  I hope you get well soon.

Blownout cylinder - Thanks for adding the captions; it makes the photos even better for me.

Brutus - That is awesome news about Char.

SJ and Charlie - He has a phenomenal layout.  How long did it take him to complete?  If he is complete.  At least there were no pile-ups this time. Surprise

Bob - I'm sure that whistle sounds great.

Chief - Have a safe trip home; watch out for those Daytona wannabes.

I’ll pray for all of us in need.

Sayonara,

Joe

Morning all.  Did not sleep as well last night [this morning].  Woke up hot.  Had AC on 65.  I knew the room was warmer.  I turned it down to 60 [as low as it goes] and still did not come on.  Turned it off and on several times and it came on.  Then went  back to sleep.  Room coffee while I watch Church on TV.

Go Char, go girl. Thumbs Up Big Smile

Mike, no soccer fields. Sigh  Football and softball.  Big gym for baskeball [4 goals and curtain so you could play two full courts "sideways".

Dennis, sales are way down nationwide where our company is working.  Not working all BPS stores.  Everyone says I have "flooded" the market here.  Lots of guys come by and say I have one of those.  Also, a lot of boat manufactures are installing them as standard or optional equipment.  In earlier years, they did not make that offering.

Jim, neighbor Grady worked for two days using all my tools and finally got one sparkplug out that had "wrung" off in the head.

Bob, I have several KW's.  Rebuilt them too.  Use them for AUX power for accessories and lights.  ZW's are easier.

Have a great day.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 30s.  Sarah has an engine!!!!  Took long enough but the powers that be finally got around to making the winning team from the last race of the season has a motor for their car this year.  SFHR will be using a Honda.  Chief, I enjoyed your description of the middle school you visited, but you obviously forgot to mention the most important aspect of the place, namely the soccer fields.  I am sure a more detailed review will include that next time.  I am sure they are lighted and irrigated as well.  Took it easy today.  Just did some errands.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all

Well the tender for the 1664 is whistling now.  Originally I thought that whistle motor was a write off, but persistence pays.

Chief and Jim - it's funny you mention rebuilding a ZW, 'cause I just got one! Powers up but will probably need some attention. Got tired of the throttle levers both moving clockwise on the KW. I always get confused and end up flooring one train and stopping the other. Otherwise it's a fine transformer and was less expensive than a ZW. I've rebuilt an RW before that was a basket case. I seem to like to work w/ things that need some love.

Jim - bummer on the plugs. Had the same thing happen on the Corvair when I first got it. Everyone tries to tighten the plugs in aluminum heads just a bit too much. One was even some crazy prewar plug w/ a larger than standard thread that they jammed in there. Helicoil to the rescue:)

Time to find a pillow.

Good evening everyone.  Buckeye, Happy Birthday....again!  You know, they have some new medications to help with most of your ailments.  They even have these neat little cases thay a loved one wh is still "with it" can put each day's pills in so you don't forget.Stick out tongue

Chief, what is happening, you slowing up with the sales?  Hope it swings around and you finish well.  Have safe travels home.

Well, we survived the school function and it looked like they were making some good money.  Kids won some goldfish to add to the aquarium.  Was a good day.  I also got a fair amount of my other work done.  Tomorrow, after church and lunch, we have a concert to go to along with the violin teacher.  It is also the teacher's birthday so we most likely be taking her out for dinner.

Only one more day of call, then I can medicate and get rid of this junk.  I really hate the feeling this has given.  Light headed and constant aches and pains.  Never mind the congestion.  Will be glad to see this one leave!

Hope each of you has a blessed week ahead.

Bob,

Like the Chief, I've gone through ZW rebuilds.  They are easy as long as you make sure that the new rollers spin freely.

I am in the middle of replacing the plugs in the Mustang right now.  Since it is an 07, I get to have alot of fun thanks to some incompetent engineer that designed the Triton 4.6 V8 used until into the 08 model year.Bang Head  After breaking the plugs loose and soaking them with Seafoam Deep Creep for two hours, five came out complete.  'Oh, this is easy'  Wrong thing to say.

Not so much for the three that remained.  Two remain in one of the heads minus the hex and threaded portion, while the electrode shield of #3 decided to stay in the other head.Bang Head  Waiting on the Lisle 65600 tool to get here before I can go further.

Don't feel bad I bought my truck in January of 2007 and it had 117,000+ miles on it. That engine your to do a tune up every 100,000 so I figured it was done. (NOT!!) well I found out this last time when I took it to the dealer to fix it and they said you know you need a major tune up your only like 65,000 miles late WhistlingLaugh
