KEV and DOUG M., BEARS FINALLY WIN a GAME> Wait til next year?
Laz, You know I did not even watch.
Outright cold today 18 degrees right now. Some snow cover on the ground but not much more than dust. Cat is back in and went to bed with the wife.
Tinking of going to ACE to get some paints for detailing the Hobo Jungle kit.
Dennis, The Hobby Lobby by us has NOTHING for O gauge Zip. I did get some moss in the craft section for cheap and that is what I used around the pond. I printed a coupon and it was only like $2 or $3 it is called Forest Natrals Moss ground cover.
I need to order the people fishing figures for the pond but I will wait till I get something else to save on shipping.
You guys have a good day,
Kev

Going down to pick up my Bday gift to BARRYs this morning. Gonna get the Lionel Santa fe AC 6000 probably will run trains this afternoon. No Flintlock hunting today, because of the high winds here. Don't want a "window maker" to come down on my head.
ANJDEVIL, are you gonna watch the Hockey Classic today? Starts at 3 in Philly, Go RANGERS!
V8VEGA, hope they catch that arsonist out there.

WOW I Feel sooooo honored today to get this MAJOR AWARD. TANKs FIFEDOG!!!!! Now I gotta make a fancy frame for it when I go back to school tomorrow and place it next to my OTTS Membership plaquard.
Konbanwa,
It is 2300 so I should be off to bed soon but I figured I'd sneak in a quick post. Today was my last day of leave; it's back to work tomorrow. I assisted my wife with some homeschooling duties in the morning (we had the kids start today since they were off for two weeks with me). After lunch we tried to rake some leaves but it was much too windy. We then rearranged the Princess's room which resulted in her having more space. The kids and the wife watched some Little House on the Prairie; we bought the Princess the complete catalog on DVD. I made chicken tikka for dinner and that wraps it up. PSU's bowl game starts at 0200 here so I have not decided whether or nor I'm waking up for it; and it looks like they decided on a new head coach. I'm not sure if I like the choice.
Thanks for all the safe thoughts on the earthquake.
Dennis - What Bonhoeffer book did you get? I have read a couple he wrote and I just finished Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy. It was a great read; it provided a lot of insight about the German people prior to WWII.
Sayonara,
Joe
Morning all getting ready to make some ham and eggs on biscuits for breakfast. ( Bet its going to be ham this and that for a while lol 2 people 8lbs of ham yep its a while lol)
Not much else going on today. Just a day to relax. need to straighten the den up a little more but thats about it. May goto the store for a couple of items.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a cold 26 degrees. Windy. Going up to 29 today with some snow flurries.
Today is a busy day. I want to watch the Rose Bowl Parade on TV. The usual chores to do and a bunch of paperwork. I will try to catch a short nap this afternoon. Most places are closed today.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Chuck
Aloha. Back from the train station after realizing once I got there that Metra is running a holiday schedule and the next train downtown isn't for 3 hours. Sigh. So I'll be 'working from home' today after paying for gas and parking... Ah well. It was cold outside anyway.

Good morning everyone. We had a front come through last night and the temps dropped into the fifties. Supposed to have another come through this afternoon with high winds and dropping down to the twenties for the next few days....brrrrr. Wife shuffled off to work, so it will be me and the kids for the day. I was able to get a little work done on the layout yesterday, but hope to complete at least one project on her today.
May take the kids to Hobby Lobby later to see if they have any scenery items. They were real sparse on the o gauge items this year. I have been able to use some HO items in for Forced perspective, but I need to do some of the bigger things for the closer side of things.
Picked up a book on Bonhoeffer yesterday, want to get a bit of reading done too. Hope it is a peaceful one for each of you...especially you, Fife! Hope the belt fits and that you don't have to run off anything you worked hard putting on during your time off.
God bless,
Dennis

Mornin' boys. Chilly and blustery (sounds like a DQ menu) here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Back to the cop-shop this afternoon...hope the belt fits...
Day two of this New Year and a few snow flakes are starting to fall in Central Ohio. Per the forecasters it will not accumulate into any significant amount. I was hoping to be able to get through the winter without cranking up the snowblower.
Will start changing out the locomotives on the layout, the UP Heritage diesels haven't been run for over a year so those guys need to get some steel under the wheels.

Good morning. It's 42° here and the sky is clear. The high is due to be 59° and it will be sunny.I'm up and around very early today. Just one of those cases of waking up and can't get back to sleep. The cramping problem in my left hand seem to have resolved itself and I can once again comfortably type using both hands. My typing speed is nothing the shout about, just twenty-five to thirty words a minute. I have nothing in particular on my schedule today other than getting started on painting a junkyard scene. My neck, lower back and knees ache but what else is new? I'm glad Christmas and New Years are past. Now things can get back to normal.

V8Vega Jeffery or anyone. When you post on Coffee Pot and Elliots Diner do you type the same thing twice? If you have the reply to: RE: Coffee Pot box open and scroll up to the top to trains.com sites to try to get on MR you can't unless you close Reply to: RE: Coffee Pot box. So how do you do it?

I use Firefox myself and routinely have nine tabs open. Each tab is a different site and I'm logged in on all of them. On the first tab is my own forum, on the second is the MR forum with Eliott's Diner, the third is Big Blue, the fourth is Modelrailroadforums, the fifth is Classic Toy Trains with The Coffee Pot, the next two are are two of my many Photobucket accounts and the last is a text to speech application I use to listen to the posts I want to know about. I can read but I have bad dyslexia so it's easier to copy the post, past it onto the text to speech application and listen to it.
Lets take a usual posting exercise for me. I'm logged onto all the sites I go to 24/7. I almost never log out. I keep the same nine tabs open all the time, even when I shut my computer down. I put together my morning post with it's usual weather report at the top and a photo at the bottom and whatever I'm passing on in between those. Once I have it put together I press Ctrl-A to highlight it then Ctrl-C to copy it to my clipboard then I save it on my forum as a post in my forum's Cup-o-Joe Trackside Diner. Now I click the next tab in line and instantly switch to the Model Railroader forum. I bring up Eliot's Diner, catch up on the posts, click Reply, press Ctrl-V to paste my post into the reply box, add in whatever is applicable to that diner, birthday wishes, prayer message, etc and click post. I click my back button usually three times to get back to the MR forum screen. I click the Big Blue tab and go to the Hobo's Camp there and do the same paste and reply routine then go to the next tab, etc.
I don't have to go close Classic Toy Trains to go to Model Railroader or anywhere else. I don't have to log out of one place to go into another and I can post my message on all the forums I go to in less than a couple of minutes. I can have the Train.com reply box open and the Classic Toy Trains reply box open at the same time and click the post button on both at almost the same time and post the same message there and here at virtually the same time. There's nothing to it.
Evenin' All.
Happy B'day Laz. Does this mean we have to send Buckeye a present ?
Started off kinda rocky at the museum this morning, DCS as usual. Finally got the issues resolved, fortunately before the doors opened so the guests didn't hear the language floating around.
Great dinner, all brought by the run crew, meatball subs/chicken Caesar salad and a peanut butter & chocolate with grahm cracker crust dessert. Oink-oink !
Truck is unloaded and goodies brought up to the trainroom, unpack tomorrow just too pooped tonite.
Sounds as though all had a good Christmas & New Years, may it carry forward for the rest of the year.
I see where the Chargers showed up for there last game of the season.
Well, think I'll shut'er down for the nite. Don't know which is more tired, the body or the eyes.
Nite All, see ya on the flipside !

Howdy guys - Happy New Years!
LAZ - Happy Birthday man! God bless - hope you got something really cool
Today we went out to lunch and I had a "California Reuben", which was turkey with coleslaw and melted swiss on grilled rye bread. It was okay, but not a reuben sandwich for me anyway. It needed sauerkraut! We then went out to see Sherlock Holmes, which was really good. There was quite a bit of train action in the movie and also action in and around some kind of train yard. We loved it - good movie
TARDIS is ready, guys - so let's hit it!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Time for me to call it a night. I'm typing more or less with one hand tonight. Two fingers on my left hand keep cramping up and want bend backward, so I'm trying to use it as little as possible. However it doesn't want to be left out and keeps trying to get in on the typing act. This results in more typos than I care to admit to.See y'all tomorrow.
Good Evening
32 now
I guess the best thing I can say about today is that we are still here. The Lions lost in the last 2 minutes, That's the same thing the Red Wings do, just can't hold on a little longer. So napped, TV, a little CTT and now the Banilla is ready...S.J.

NOPE!! Both Holidays qualify for Cabbage & Corned Beef.
And We don't do "Grits" around here for anything; we tried them for potholes, patching plaster and concrete, but the adjoining surfaces rejected them-just have NOT found a good use for them yet.

Hello all,
Happy New Year.
It was pretty low key here Mrs, & I were asleep by 11 PM. Went to 7 AM Mass this morning. Family gathered at my folks for Pork & Sauerkraut.at lunch time today. The rest of the day was a lazy day.
I did troubleshoot and repair a not working headlight on Dad's 254E

Several days behind on the pot. To busy doing nothing I'll try to catch up later. Haven't even gone musket hunting this week.
It was a windy & rainy 54 degrees when I did the barn work around 5 PM. Blowing in some cold for tomorrow.
Prayers for those in need.

Good evening. I went to my parents place for New Years dinner today. Black-eye peas and ham, cabbage, cornbread, field peas. I got up tired this morning due to all the racket last night. My nephew and some of his friends were up the road celebrating with a neighbor I choose to have very little to do with. I just don't like the guy. Anyways, they had a lot of loud music going, very big, very expensive fireworks going off and rattling my shelves and windows. That carried on til about midnight. Afterward my nephew arrived back home with some friends in tow. More loud music. Screaming and yelling. Lots of revving up of cars and trucks with very loud pipes. At 2:30 am I went out and put a stop to it. If I had to go out there again the police were being invited to attend. I already have the reputation of my bite being much worse than my bark. The party broke up pretty quickly and all as quiet. After dinner today my mother wanted to go to town to take a New Years dinner to a friend of hers then go to Stage for a few minutes. My mother, Stage and a few minutes are three things that don't go together. She and Stage go together fine but the few minutes part is impossible. The minimum is half an hour. This time it was forty-eight minutes and $181. By this time she could barely walk out to the car right at the curb and wanted to go go to Wal-Mart. I flatly vetoed that. We went to Wal-Mart any but just so I could get a Mountain Dew from one of the vending machines outside. Their prices are really ridiculous. A twenty ounce bottle of Mountain Dew now costs $2. The next stop was home.
Don, One of the Thursday night guys at my layout used to be a fireman on the train at Knotts years ago. Maybe you guys should compare notes. Regarding Kelso, I rode a U.P, excursion train one time from L.A. to Kelso and return. Huel Howser did a TV special about that depot. Still looks good in spite of its age. Happy New Year,
Ray

Aloha and Happy New Year. Happy Laz! and congrats on your 'Major Award!' Back to the office tomorrow after a long time off. Sleepily worked video at church. Nice quiet day around the house. Everyone here seems to be sick except me. Dennis, that gene kicks in early - it seems to be gender specific too . Don, hope you get your transfer!
Enough time spent on scenery today time to run trains. See other post on forum. Be good everybody! Kev.

Wow, twice in one day.
Havn't been avoiding all you guys, this working part time has been somewhat demanding. Just got off for today, don't go back again till Wednesday, then Thursday and Sunday. (BTW the park has been offering free admission for fire fighters, and law enforcement plus 1 guest for the month of Dec and Jan.)
Submitting a transfer request out of the "traffic" section to the "Railroad", looking forward to becoming an "Engineer/Fireman" on the trains in the park. (May regret it when the summer comes, but sounds like it would be fun.
This year we had an automotive Christmas, had the transmission go out in our van the week of Christmas, then the "Electronic Idle module goes out in the Buick. So over $2500 in repairs.
Had a GREAT day on Friday, Chris took us on a tour of the Mohave Desert where he has been going on field trips and mapping various areas. Took us to some dormant volcanoes, a couple of huge craters, saw Volcano Tubes, a number of mines, and some salt flats. Went through Kelso, which was a major service location during WWII for trains going to LA from the northern states. The depot has been completely restored and is awesome! Now it is a lunch diner and museum. Was really a great day, and very educational as well as interesting.
As Dennis said the weather is beautiful here today, up to 79/80, have had quite a bit of fog overnight the last couple of days, sure seems like summer. The local skiing resorts aren't doing to well, but that should change in about 10 days to two weeks.
Will talk to you all later, Hope everyone enjoys the weekend and be safe and stay well !!
Don
Happy Birthday Laz!!
Happy New Year all!
My brother and his family just left and I just got back from a 4 car MVA just north of NJTP Exit 8. We packaged 2 victims for transport with minor injuries.
Still in the 50's now.
Finally got off my butt and went to a party hosted by one of my sister's friends. Stayed until 0100 and got home and crashed by 0200. I had 1 shot of peppermint schnapps at midnight.
We had a brunch/anti-pasta tray about noon. Princess has since slept on the couch and I may just follow suit.
