Cloudy, drizzle 50's here today.
Dbaker - the EF at your work place is a couple of quantum levels higher than where I work. Your stories are a hoot.
I finally found that Buick wagon in the pits with it's hood open. It's secret is the 455 cu.in. v8 with twin turbo chargers and electronic fuel injection. It's exahust note was quiet with a bit of a lumpy idle. Never did find the owner to talk to. I'm going to guess that the 455 had been enlarged some to boot.
All for now.
Howdy guys - nothing much going on here. It was a cold and rainy afternoon and the game was postponed.
Happy Birthday, Roy! Good story, Don - also prayers for the family. Congrats, Doug! Prayers for us all and our intentions.
Took off early today to pick up the kids from school, as Char had a big presentation at work. Played some videogames and had a nice chat with SJ tonight.
Brent - personally, I would move that plumbing now and get it over with. Do you have to clean the pipe before using those sharkbites?
TARDIS is ready, so let's get moving guys! We need to make a pass down to Florida for some tobasco lemonade, which I've heard is very good
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
jonadel Seems like common sense doesn't count any more, I'm afraid the home town bank is gone forever as are community schools.

You need to come to NC. Community Schools are back in [parents revolted]. Small home town banks are being opened all the time. Folks are moving from big banks to the little guy due to service and less charges.
Just talked to Shake and Bake. Off to bed. Got a 7 AM in Raleigh. Reclinerized from 8 PM to 11:15. Finished the DUI video this afternoon. Some editing and hope it is out next week. Will post a link.
Sleep tight.

Good morning all,
It is rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s. Work went well yesterday. I did 2 miles walking at the YMCA at a 15 minute pace. Had to work hard to do that which shows how out of shape I am. It is a good baseline. Just going to concentrate on walking and eventually running to get my breathing right and weght off. Regular fare sent to "Points East". TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning,
57 and a drizzle on and off. Temps are supposed to drop to 38 this evening. Wet Snohio in the Northwest portions of NJ. Looks like an early winter.
No word on the condition of our 2 guys that were burned in September.
Have a great day,
John

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a wet and cold 48 degrees. Rained, again, last night. Going up to 58 today with more rain.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of paperwork to do and the usual exercises. I will be busy until nap time. Doctor appt., yesterday, went well. All vital signs looked good. Got to take some new meds. Back in a month.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.

Aloha from a pitch dark Crystal Lake where I can't tell the weather because it's still night. Boy, i love reading DonB's dispatches from remote parking... My boy is considering criminal justice and athletic training as majors - what does he know at 17? He has time. His sister is studying marketing and wants to sell. Hope to mulch some leaves today if the sun ever rises. Ray, I'd come out to O'Hare to visit if they'd let me in! Call the airline and make sure you have transport between planes.

Seriously......we are having the same problem with our local schools. The public school students are lucky to hold their own year to year on the standardized tests. Meanwhile, the publicly-funded Charter schools are flourishing. Charter schools are not subject to all of the same State rules and regulations. But they ARE held to somewhat stricter performance standard, are filled before they open, have long waiting lists, and are making the average citizen question why the Charter schools can deliver a better education while the mainstream public schools seem dead in the water. The school districts fight tooth and nail the opening and/or the expansion of the Charter schools here. Why is that, when there is a better approach to publicly-funded education, with proven, better results..... and when there is a growing public outcry over the staus quo.
My experience with our own kids and the public school system here was poor at best. There seems to be a widening chasm between the really good teachers and those who seem to have checked out, who seem to be playing out the string. I commented to my wife after one particularly frustrating parent/teacher evening that as a businessman I wouldn't have hired half of them. The really good teachers seem to be hamstrung by administration who in turn are hamstrung by State regulation. All unnecesarily complex. The inmates are running the asylum, with too many parents vacating their at-home responsibilities in the the education process. It was quite the amusement last week when the State announced the necessity to form a commission to study bullying.
With regard to the smaller community banks, they are alive, well, and flourishing here. The big banks in my neck of the woods will soon learn that a customer does not need them, with their second rate customer service and growing fees out the ying-yang.
Hello all,
Cold and damp today, 41 with light rain and another coating of leaves on the lawn.
Well got back from the Wisconsin north woods yesterday with the wife....... still alive.
Need to go away more, I have the best luck on E-bay when I am gone. Got 3 box cars that I low-balled for my J-line train I am working on.
Weather was nice but It was cold and raining on Tuesday so we took a ride and came across a 1901 Phoenix Log Hailer in Wabeno. It has a drive a lot like the Shay Loco but drives track, not rail wheels. Very cool if your ever up that way it is worth the stop. it has 4 steam cylinders that drive a shaft going to the track drive. Sorry the picture is not better.
Doug, good to hear you son and daughter are keeping at the books. Got to say I am glad those days are behind us.
Got to go.
Have a great day everybody,
Kev.

Good morning. It's 63° and mostly cloudy. The high will be 80° and it will be mostly cloudy. There's a 60% chance of rain after 8 pm.I spent a good part of the afternoon yesterday rebuilding a Proto 2000 E6 chassis. The front truck for some reason had a short I just couldn't resolve. The rear truck needed side frames but it would be much easier to simply replace it. So I changed out both trucks with those from an old E6 I had in the junk box. It had a damaged frame and couldn't be run. So while I was at it I changed out the motor. It now runs like a champ and is adorned with an E7 body. This make two E6's turned E7's I've gotten through trade from the same source. If the delivery dates are right I should be receiving a Busch Airstream trailer and a Great Northern shorty covered hopper #173906 (maker unknown) today.
Good Morning
43 and wet.
Home from the dentist, nice clean teeth but of course he found something I need to go back for. Well at least the teeth are still mine. Gonna take granny to the Doc at 1, I think he will be happy with her progress...S.J.

Got my new (to me) Olympus D550Zoom camera today. Now I can take photos without the camera suddenly turning off when I press the shutter button or attempt to adjust the zoom, etc. The camera in the photo is the old one but the new one looks just like it, just a little cleaner. Also got my Busch Airstream trailer. Here's that Great Northern shorty covered hopper. Looking at the coupler pocket covers makes me think MDC but I could be wrong.

Doug, thanks for the thought. I think you are right about airport transportation. Although my son will be with me, he has to handle his own carry ons. I have been puzzled trying to figure out how to juggle my POC plus one carry on and a shoulder bag with extra batteries for the concentrator. They have those golf carts in the terminals but they cannot be reserved. The only sure way is to ask for a wheel chair. I know they supply those. I can walk but if I have to ride in the chair, I'll take it.

Now I am at a real computer and not the Droid [BTW: another one on the way from Verizon]. Can read better and post better. Heading to the lake house for a few.
Got my new CTT so will carry to look at Jon's shots.
Real warm here. Turning cold after a rain Friday night and Sat. morning. May have our first frost Sunday morning.
Later.
BTW: Finally got Wells Fargo done. After an hour there again today. Then they screwed up but took check straight to State Employees CU and they deposited it with no problem. Idoit at WF wanted to cash it. Then issue a cashiers check. Told bank usually endorsed it and I took it to SECU. No he knew better. Then they refused to cash it as I did not have [and never will have] a bank account there. Then gave me check with endorsement and I did as I told him earlier.
This company is so stupid. Sent me a check earlier this year and said I had over paid my escrow account. Then one month later, they sent me a letter saying raising my monthly house payment due to possible shortage in escrow account. DUUH

chief When I left VA. I kept my account there seeing we have this great thing called direct deposit. I can't beat the service I get from that bank. it breaks down like this
I must do the following:
use my debit card 10 times a month
have 1 direct deposit a month
view my account on line once a month
in return if I do the above they pay me 1% 3% on my checking account
should I have ATM fees because of getting cash from another banks ATM they refund all fees to me.
no fee for having/using Debit card.
So I'm happy no minimum balance required either.
I also have an account with NFCU which is basically just a snack account I keep enough in there each week for sodas and things like that but thats it but it keeps it active in case I need to drop my bank for some reason.
Not much going on tonight I did the other day make myself a loop of O-42 track on a table which will be the starting point for my layout in the future. Hooked up my new ( to me ) command control and cab 1 ( seeing I sold my old one about 6 months ago thinking I was going to take the leap and get legacy control but that never happened)
Have decided that Standard gauge engine and 2 passenger cars will just goto a shelf display so guess I will take track off of the shelf layout and probably do a loop of O up there and hook the tmcc to it so I can run a nice long train up there.
The G gauge will probably stay where it is above the fireplace on the mantle I may in the future hook a loop of it up around the Christmas tree or something but for now its good will have to get a transformer for it ( DC) as I think I got rid of the one that went with it lol.
so I have my work cut out for me for a while along with what the wife wants. Probably sell the 35" straight standard gauge track once I get it down along with whatever else i have other than one oval of track ( circle plus 2 14" straights. ) (the straights also make a perfect length to place engine and cars on)
Hope all been having a good week talk to you all later

After some extensive searching on the net I found that this hopper was made by Front Range. Somebody did a good job putting it together. I can however see a few places where they had trouble around the ladders. I'm in the process now of patching it. Gone are the Great Northern markings. Soon the L&A lettering will be applied.
43 now
Well like I said this morning it was a dentist & doctor day here. Granny's Doc said she is doing good, see you in a month. We had a Kroger cooked chicken for supper and fresh home made apple pie. I'm saving my banilla for the thingy trip..S.J.
Good evening all,
Got called back to my seasonal part time job today to start tomorrow. Driving a Fertilizer Tender truck for the local Farm Service. Good thing, I can use the extra cash for X-mass gifts.
Guess I will be missing the AM post for a month or so till all of the fall fertilizer is spread and the corn is in the bins. I will be checking in at night to see what is up.
Enjoy and take care,
Rain set in today shortly before sunset and has continued off and on all evening. Radar shows some heavy stuff moving in our direction so it's time to shut down. See y'all tomorrow.
