Afternoon all. BEAVER and Town kept me busy this AM. OH, back at home. Took kids to groomer first. Then big sticks [some as big as arm] and mud built under the bridge over the spillway. Made it very hard to pitchfork out. The lady wanting to meet me away from Town Hall to discuss rude Rec Director [temp]. One good thing. No fire ants.
RockIsland52 Promised the wifey I would get the landscaping done today. So I went out to cut the grass and to pick up the leaves. The master plan was to beat the rains later in the week and to stay on top of the leaves which are really starting to fall now. The throttle cable snapped off inside the throttle box when I went to start the mower. So it is "off to the repair shop time" and pray they have a replacement cable assembly in stock for my particular make and model of mower. Jack.

Sunny and 70's today. Woke up to a flat tire on the Cobalt SS today - good start for Monday back from vacation. Fortunately, the old ugly pick up started right up. Pumped up the tire after work. Seems to be a slow leak. Bet I picked up a nail or something in the tread.
RI52 - Nope. No bail involved - we never got caught.
The TV station in Kansas City was showing pictures of the northern lights tonight. If you have a clear view of the northern sky, take a look - you might see them. Kind of unusual to see them this far south.
All for now.

RT is jealous because SC does not allow Yankees to have grass.
8NT - glad you made it to work, sounds like something they can fix with a plug to me.
Stopped at Home Depot on the way home for some supplies for a vent and to have my son finish scrubbing the front of the house off. Tomorrow we should be in the 80s, so he can get it done then after school. After that, the temps will nosedive! Just a fly-by tonight since I'm so late - TARDIS is ready, so let's get going!
PS - AF, you know it!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Hi GUYZ,
44 here and to get to 60. Gonna do a mountain run tonite after school with my MINNIE DOG. Got my huntin license last nite, PHEASANTs this weekend.
JACK, sounds like I'll have to do a road trip next year to help you with the yard work. Gee you do all that and the dang cable breaks. Must be a JOHN DEERE?
CHIEF, No fire ants?

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cool 48 degrees. Going up to 60 today with some sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have an errand to run. I can drive the car pretty good, for short trips. Then, I have exercises to do. Nap later.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Good morning. It's 55° and clear. The high is due to be 83° and it will be sunny.Well I didn't get much cleaning up done on the layout yesterday as I got called on to do other things. Can't complain much as I got lunch out of it and a garlic rotisserie chicken. I know what I'll be eating today. Hopefully I'll have time to work on the layout. I did manage to get the trash cans out to the roadside last night. Three trips, one can per trip. From the trailer to the road is downhill so that made it a little easier. Still, by the second return trip I was pretty slow. It isn't easy with just one foot. As for the other foot, well I'm actually walking on the side of what's left of my ankle. I don't recommend it. By the third and last trip I was wiped. I had to stop and rest a little a couple of times on the way back to the trailer. Hopefully there will be nothing demanding today. Last night I ordered a good used Olympus D550Zoom camera. The one I have is acting a bit flaky. To turn it on you pull the lens cover to the right until it locks. It should not turn off until the cover is unlocked. However it seems that the switch is going bad and just lightly brushing the lens cover causes it to turn off. I know that eventually it'll get to the point that it won't work at all. So, as I said, I ordered a good used one that the owner says works with no problems. It's just $22 and that's much less than the $80+ quoted to fix the one I have. I have a much newer Nikon L20 I can use but it doesn't let me get as close as the old Olympus does. My parents help pay for my model railroad stuff from Ebay. They don't pay for my cameras or what I buy outside Ebay. Well, that's all for this morning.

Boxing some up and sending them to you.
Pretty morning. Off to see if beaver has built a new dam.
Not going to Atlantic City. Wifey having some heart test next week. Probably nothing and may be thyroid thingy she has off an on. I do need to take her. She has taken me to all my heart tests and was there when I had by-passes. Probably nothing but still.
Have a good one.
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s. Possibly the last nice day of the year for us, weather wise. Lost our last regular season game 3-2. At least weather was ok for that as well. Was really tired and sore after the game. I think I left it all on the field yesterday. Not much else going on. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Aloha from a sunny and warn Chicago. Like Mike C said, might be last nice day of the season here too - rain expected tomorrow with a temp crash. 8ntuck, I saw the northern lights last night! - it's been a long time since I've seen them this far north - just like watching special effects from a movie - looked like a rippling flag all green and red. Hey, did you hear Disney is installing a Red Trolley line just like in the Pacific Electric days! Jeffrey, I thought of your layout when spying over Shorpys website yesterday. There's a panorama of Toledo and a few other towns that look like scenes from your layout - except in 1910. Jack, that's one of the reasons I have an electric mower. Good luck.Saw on another forum that Mattel brought the rights to Thomas - not sure whether that's good or bad. Wow, check out this video Bob Keller posted on Facebook. What a great mix of model railroading and animation. SJ, I can smell the apples from here.

Price of oil went up yesterday so the price of gas jump 8 cents overnight. (3.34) reg. what a rip. No plans for the day so I'll just go with Happy Tuesday...S.J.
cnw1995 Jack, that's one of the reasons I have an electric mower. Good luck.
Jack, that's one of the reasons I have an electric mower. Good luck.
Doug........in 40 years and 4 mowers (4 seasons on this one), this is the first time I have had a action-stopping problem with a gas mower. I use electric for 10" chainsaw, weed wacker, and hedge trimmer.
A rechargeable electric mower wouldn't handle my specific application: procrastination-fueled, 9 inch tall, wet grass and leaves. And they don't make flexible, steel-encased extension cords that can withstand my carelessness. BTW, I dropped off the mower this AM for the throttle cable replacement, but the part is a 3 days wait as they did not have one in stock. So my son-in-law will, unbeknownst to him, will be dropping his mower off at my place tonight for me to use for this week's mowing and leaf cleanup.
Later, gang.
Jack
PS: For you snowblower guys who don't work on them yourselves, better make sure yours is at the ready. The place I use for mower and snowblower sales and service has a veritable sea of snowblowers in house waiting for maintenance. Their repair facility covers the 10,000 square feet.. The guy said that they have been working furiously on them since early June and estimate that they have serviced 4,000 snowblowers so far !!!!! More pouring in daily.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Good morning all!
Nice day here. Cools off later this week.
Rangers up by 1 game. Can they win it? Who knows but I hope hope so. Too many bats in St Louie.
Hmmmm. Mowers. For my B-Day last week son and wife present me with a new mower that has powered wheels. The good news is once it was running my son mowed the yard. We will see how this plays out. If I bought a new mower it would not have powered wheels. The one nice feature is one lever sets the deck height instead of doing each wheel individually.
Lots of work the last few days. Too much. All day meetings with evening dinners next 3 days - ugh.
Have a great day all!
Regards, Roy
Doug I checked out the picture of the Toledo river front 1909, those RR tracks were still busy when I was little. I remember little switchers use to run those rails as most of the track ran down the middle of the streets and alley ways between the buildings.

WOW SIR JAMES is 102 yrs. old. Happy Birthday SIR JAMES!!!!!
NOTHING RUNS LIKE A DEERE
LOL now everybody knows how old I am...sigh
V8, we got the same drizzle you did over here this morning. As for lawn mowers, we got a guy to mow the grass many years ago when I was still working on the railroad and not home all the time. I gave my mower to my son who has since got his own grass cutting service too. I think it is money well spent because they always come every week. When I did it myself, there was always something coming up where I couldn't do it so it got too high by the time I got around to it.
Roy, congratulations on the Rangers win although my son, an Angeles fan, has a grudge against Texas for beating us out. Personally, I have no dog in this fight. May the best team win.
Chuck, impressed to learn you are driving. Good for you but be careful.
Chief, good luck with the Beavers--again.

Evenin' boys. Sunny & 63 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Just brought in the mail, and lo & behold there was my Dec CTT....let us turn to page 40...HUGE CONGAS to our own jonadel!!!! What a spread! Read the whole article in the "library", and thought how cool would it be to recreate the marching scene from The Music Man on the town's main street.

Roy ---> Happy belated
Jon....Congratulations to you and Sharyl for the great spread in CTT mag. That is a beautiful layout. I'd love to see it in person.

Jon & Sharyl - Very cool story and the video on CTT!! Congas!!
Planning the Christmas layout...looks like an 8 X 16 bi-level, 3 tracks with one trolley, one night only November 25th....after the Santa Parade.
John Bakeer - good luck on your relocation to Scotland (is that correct?). Hope the move is smooth.

Good evening everyone. Big congratulations go out to Jon and Sharyl. I am currently typing the from the iPad2. This will be short, as I have yet to master the keyboard. Only read this page, so excuse me for not being up to speed on every thing. Chief, sorry you are not going to be going to A. C. It speaks well of your character to stay back with Pam. I pray that she gets well soon.
God bless,
Dennis
