Greetings Ya'll From Crystal Clear and Quiet Taxachusetts,

But not for long.......son called, said due to Irene he (and the rest of the residents?) of Margate NJ are being evacuated.  Margate is about 6 miles Southwest of Atlantic City on Absecon Island.  Last word, he has to be out of there by noon today and decided to come for a visit.  So I'll be hit by one storm today and another Sunday.  Smile, Wink & Grin  Guess I'll have to enlist him later today to help clear the decks and batten down the hatches before the hurricane gets here.  Pirate

Angel Most important for the day, continued prayers for Chuck's recovery and Paula's strength.  For Brutus' Char and her return home in time for their anniversary and more train gifts from Brutus, for DougDG's progress, and the same for RaySPSJ........prayers for an improvement in your culinary skills because soon you will be the chief cook and bottle washer for a while, better stock up on pots and pans.  Prayers for all who need them.

MikeC...........that was a touching article.  Your Dad touched a lot of lives, just as you are doing in his footsteps. Thumbs Up

Brent........no, you can't wash disposable diapers.  Hope little Christina is keeping you busy and sleepless. Laugh

RT.......don't you have a green thumb?  Wifey will probable have you buying trees and digging holes before long.

Gotta run.  Later, gang.

Morning all.  A little cloudy with fog.  You Yanks shook me up the other day so I am sending you some stormy weather.

Our Gov. on CBS this AM.  "This is a big bad storm."  Then she kept starting every sentence with NC.  She had a "face job".  Now she looks like the Joker in Batman.  She only squeeked in behind you know who.  She is a goner this time.  Most disliked Gov in the US per the poles.  Vetoed voter ID bill.  Why is it that the Dems do not want folks to show their ID at the poles? Sigh  Takes 5 Dems to override.  They have been threatened with everything close to death by party. Thumbs Down

Hope all those in the storm's path will be OK.  This is a big storm.  You folks up the northeast coast are not use to this.  Prayers for all.

Hi GUYZ,

Off today for last day of vacation.  Going to Mt. Joy today to pick up a table saw from renowed train layout maker DAVID METHLIE.  DAVID is going to sell his house and move to Elizabethtown and live in the Masonic village there.  I met him at a train nerd party and he would like his saw to go to a good home so he picked me.  Then I'll stop in at BARRYs Train Shop to say hi to the gang.

PRAYERS continue for CHUCK, and CHAR and families.  Get well soon.

CHUCK and BUCKEYE, TGIF!

Stay frosty,

Mornin' Fellas

Calm before the storm I guess.

WHERE IS FIFE???? Will try to give him a call today.

Jack - The reusable diapers we are considering are a new style that Susan's cousin's wife's friend recommends. She has been using them with her little boy since he was NB. They are pretty cool because they have an absorbant pad inside a cloth diaper. You put EVERYTHING into the washer and the pad pops out during the wash cycle, so not prewashing is necessary.

Angel Prayers continue for Chuck and Paula. Adding Char to list.

Aloha. Sunny and beauty of a Friday here - TGIF!   Mike C., what a great tribute - sorry about stealing Danica into the 'other' league. John, sitting in the bleachers, any bleachers, is more than hard on your back and other places. Congrats to your grandson on his 'win'.  Prayers for Chuck and Char - hope she's out tomorrow so you can celebrate your anniversary, Brutus. Also praying for safety for those of you 'points east' - heading out myself at 0-dark-30 tomorrow morning to bring the daughter back to school and fit in a college visit with my son.  Laz, you should put a commemorative plaque on that table saw! How was our workout today?

Good Morning

68/80s today.

Back from the grocery store, got fresh supply of banilla.

Me thinks I'd still want to rinse certain items before I put EVERYTHING in my washing machine.

RI, I expect I'll be losing some weight after Sept. 12, not sure how it will "pan" out..Time will tell.

Sadly it's the last Friday of August 2011.Crying..S.J.

Good morning all,

prayers for Chuck and Paula and  Char.  Also Doug in Sandy Eggo.

I"m feeling a little better today and getting lots of rest.  Haven't been in the train room for several days now.  Been really hot this week with triple digits some days.

Nobody ask for voter I.D. here but I think they ask to see your sample ballot.  Can't remember what.  I think they just compare the name on their list with the one on your ballot.

Afternoon all!

Apologies for being away for a few weeks. Too much travel (personal and business) and it really wore me out so too tired to jump on the PC again after a long day.

Prayers for Chuck and Char! Angel

No real news here as it is still HOT. 100's for another week. We had one day last week where it only hit 98.

Wife got her car rear ended while she was sitting at a traffic light. Allstate (their insurance) called and said it was all their client's fault and they were sending a check for our deductable. Just got quote on the repairs ($3000+) and it should be ready next week.

Having to get the pool redone. Had the entire deck jackhammered out and will have a smaller deck (less concrete around the pool) installed. Less heat island in the back yard.

First HS football game last night. - 100+ at game time - we won in 4th quarter - think we outlasted the other team due to the heat. Our idiot band director had the band in their formal long sleeved uniforms. The other band director - not an idiot - had their band in short sleeves and shorts. We had a lot of kids sitting out trying to cool off.

Have a great day all!

I'm probaaly doing this wrong, but it's the only way I know how to use this.

I hear that things are a little rough weather wise and some of you folks are having a hard time in the health department. Please accept my wishes for swift recovery from your torments. It's been a trifle damp here lately.

Sorry I don't have any new news concerning Chuck.  I'll try to call Paula this weekend.

I had a little bout with the flu this week and I'm still not 100%.

Getting bans of rain and some gusty winds.  I'm sure not as much as the coast or east of I 95.

Picked up two new Nikon BDC rimfire scopes.  Really impressed.  Then go to their web site and do the "Spot on" and enter your ballistics.  It will give you the exact distance the bullet hits zero for each circle.

Also got leafy bug suit.  Goes over regular clothing.  Has a fine mesh over your face.  Has cloth leaves attached.  Simular to a "gilley" suit.  When I put it on and sit down, Pam says I look like a pile of leaves or a bush.  Now I can hide from Buckeye. Whistling

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,

Chief, Warning A couple of Yankees are invading and they are at a Jewelry Convention in Cary, NC. You can not miss then, they are wearing Yankee Shirts. It is AF53 and his Wife.

The big news is the Hurricane. There is a mandatory evacuation a 1/2 mile east of my house. This may be the big one.

Prayers for Chuck, Char, Ray, Doug and anyone in need that I missed.

Good evening all!

Yes, they said to evacuate in our area at the Jersey shore but HudsonJohn is riding it out! Me, I jumped in my Suburban and headed to a safer place, hiding out here in NORTH CAROLINA!

Chief - Sorry about not saying hi but with the tight schedule we have just not possible as we are leaving early Sunday.

HudsonJohn - Be careful. As you know number one daughter left to go to my house. For those who don't know she is exposed to the wind and storm surges as she is right on the Barnegat Bay. HudsonJohn is just 2 blocks in from the Bay and in harms way. My house is about a mile west of the Bay. BTW, a box should be there sometime next week (glad I can help you out).

JoeD - It's hard for us to enjoy the games we go to when we lose. We love each others company but I just can't be happy after a lose.

Everyone in the path of Irene, be careful!

Good Evening

72 now, with sun all day. Boy the hurricane is a very serious storm but I sure think the Weather channel goes into overkill. At this time they are even skipping the Local on the eights. It becomes a bore real fast and why does law enforcement allow those dummies to stand out in the storm just to tell us what we already know?SoapBoxthe end. Prayers for Chuck, Paula, Ray and Doug.  Well, they told Char this morning that she might be able to go home today, but it didn't pan out.  We think that tomorrow is a lock, though.  I got a ticket this morning, because my license plates expired.  I just couldn't believe it!  Plus, he pulled me out of 5 lanes of rush hour traffic over this.  Oh well - I was already scheduled off for Monday to take Char to see docs etc.  I scheduled an inspection for the truck and should be able to get my plates renewed.  At $82, it was an expensive reminder.  I really think he could have just given me a reminder and let me go - geez louise.

Chatted with Jim and Charlie for a little bit.  Hope all those in the line of the storm are okay!  TARDIS is ready!

Hot & muggy here.

Youse guys out east - keep your heads down & take cover!

Entertaining day at work today.   We had another group of VIP type visitors in the plant for a tour today.  The VIP's were due to arrive just before 10am.  At 8am, I get an e-mail asking if I can come up with a 'story board' to display out on the floor!  Took about an hour to cobble together something from a couple of existing presentations.  The tour spent about 3 minutes looking at the display. Bang Head

Of course the plant had to be extra clean, neat & tidy.  Was really interesting watching one group of people running production while another group of people tried to keep the place shiny clean & spit polished - espcially since all of our production processes are 'dirty' - thay make dust, smoke, oil mist, etc. that settles on everything and tracks everywhere.

Picked up my Eagle Scout boxcar at the LHS today.  My oldest son is an Eagle Scout, so this one is a must for my collection.

All for now.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Been busy this week.  Fifepup and I trimmed as many branches away from our big maple as we could reach.

Took #2 princess to college on Thursday, which meant a tearful good-bye.  Then went and plucked her little behind off the DelMarVa yesterday after Irene shifted, and her school's president said please leave if you can... Wasn't home 1 hour when her boyfriend came and got her for the evening...Geeeeee, glad I could help....Sigh

The yatchet is staying in the water.  The creek where she is docked is fairly protected.  Did go down and tighten up the lines to the furling jib,  let out extra dockline to counter the storm surge, and put out the fenders in case some other boat breaks loose.  Had we be dealing with hurricane force winds, I would be pulling off the sails and canvas as well.  I worked this particular area at the height of Isabel back in '03.  Putting a boat up  on the hard was the losing bet that day.

Off until Tuesday (just lucky).

Hi GUYZ,

Cloudy and waiting for IRENE.  Yesterday went to ETOWN and picked up table saw from DAVID.  THANK YOU for all the other throw ins like wood clamps and extra blades.  Then went to BARRYS Train Shop and BSed with MIKE and GERMAINE there.  Came home and took dog for nice walk to chase rabbbits.  She got onto four of them, got real close but still no WABBIT.

Going to run a nice 2 miler this morning with my gal MINNIE.  Gotta check the downspouts.

Stay frosty and dry,

Good morning

66/80 today

Brutus if your late renewing tags or license in Mich. the state adds a fat late fee. A good way to remember on time. Weather channel still broadcasting the same thing over and over without local weather at all. And I'll bet the people running that place had to go to college to be that stupid. Probably the same people that time traffic lights. No new train news, nice chat with Brutus and Charlie last night. BLTs this morning, won't be many more days left for them...S.J.

Morning guys,

Nice to see John Baker back on the forum.

I totally agree on the overkill on the storm coverage. Even our local stations are going nuts and we are on the edge of the storm zone. Once an hour for 5 or 10 minutes would be plenty.  As for the idiots standing out on the beach with their microphones No No No.

Fife, I hope your boat rides the storm well, it is always a tossup how to handle these storms.

The rain did start here at 9:00 AM and it has rained off and on since then. As far as wind there is none, the lull before the storm I guess.  We did put anything movable indoors for the duration.

I never missed renewing my registration. But did miss the state inspection one time. I caught it before they caught me. :D

Well back to work on my doll house project, no trains till it is done.

Good morning all,

Prayers for Chuck and good luck to all on hurricane Irene damage.

Off to TCA train meet this morning.  Still taking muscle relaxers per doctor and not having much pain.  Temperature near 100 or better today.  We could use some of that water being sprayed all over the East Coast.  Not much to report today.  Have a good one,

Good Afternoon Ya'll From Overcast Taxachusetts,

The Red Sox are squeezing in a day/night double header at home today against Oakland to beat the hurricane.  This morning I mowed the lawn (front only), cleaned out a gutter, checked the street drain, and put away anything that can get blown away........last items to secure are the deck tables which we leave out year round.  I flip them over, put them table top to the deck flooring. and then secure to the deck supports with rope.

We are expected to get sustained 74 MPH winds and are currently right on the edge of the 5"-10" expected rain accumulation.  For us, we will get hit with the worst of it starting around noon tomorrow morning when the storm surge and the high tide will occur simultaneously.  Expect coastal flooding about a mile east of me.  The beaches will once again get swept out to sea.

Drove past some of the marinas yesterday, and it appears most folks seem to be leaving their boats and yatchets in the water.

Entire state East to West is going to be impacted.  I am just hoping I don't take on any water......I have a peak vent the entire length of the roof peak, and the rains and high winds sometimes blow up, under, and into the attic, eventually staining the ceilings on the second floor.  Doesn't happen too often, but this will be one of htose times I suspect.  Bang Head

We'll be going out to dinner to celebrate the son's 32nd birthday tonight.  In case we loose power, I'll be pulling out the flashlights, extra batteries, and candles when we get home.  I am still using a Motorola transistor radio circa 1962!!!  Hope I don't need it.  I anticipate we will lose power.

Later gang!!!   Stay safe and stay dry.  I have to go now and make sure my wife has an extra leash and her rain slicker at the ready so she can take the dog out for his pit stops in the middle of the hurricane tomorrow.

Laugh
