Happy 4th to all,

As Dennis says, no need to report weather here for the rest of summer unless it rains. Just Hot!  Guess that's why they call us shake and bake.

Dinner out with friends last night.  Just had a Cobb salad but it was good.  Get together with family for swimming and eating this afternoon.  No fireworks allowed in our town.  Fire danger too great.  However next town down the line has the so called safe and sane fireworks and lots of illegal stuff like sky rockets.  Sounds like a war over there every 4th.  I hope the Collie dogs next door don't get spooked by any fireworks.

have a good one,

Ray

HOME!!!!  Crying Big Smile [both].  Big 4th of July thingy later this afternoon with big fireworks display.  Unlike the Buckeye display [a cap pistol being shot with only 6 rounds]. Whistling

Thanks RT for getting the Pot going for July.

Busy with soaker hoses and picking garden.  Still no rain.

Happy 4th everybody!!!! Hot as usual in sunny Florida. Will be in St. Augustine at Henry Flagler's Memorial Presbyterian Church to be part of an organ and sing along of patriotic music this afternoon. Have two solos, Yankee Doodle Dandy and God Bless America.

Have my NYC 5344 Hudson running in the dining room. The locomotive is very unforgiving with uneven track work!!! Having to install shims where the track dips too much. The Elvis locomotive did not have that problem. Haven't been able to get into the train room to get smoke refill so I can't comment on the smoking capabilities yet. The bell and whistle are impressive and the slow speed is absolutely amazing.

Easy on the fifths on the fourth you all!!!!

RT - I would like to have seen  NASCAR Tractor Trailers. Were they  racing each other?Smile, Wink & Grin Can't see anyone not trying to be first!Hmm

Banks - Feeding hay in July is not a good sign.Thumbs Down It has been extremely hot here, but a shower every 2-3 days has kept the pastures going.

Happy 4th of July to everyone!

Not much going on today, just hosting the family BBQ that my daughter surprised me with the other day (so far the head count is around 18). Temps will top off at around 90. Later we will go and see the local fireworks. Early to bed tonight as the overtime at work gets squeezed into a 4 day workweek.

Happy vacation for those starting one this week, and you know who you are!

Have a safe one!

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Survived a day with wife's side of the family.  Although it was a bit crowded, everyone had a good time and no one stayed past 6:30.  Lucas brought his fiancee back with him (long story there) and her cat as well.  They seemed to think the cat could stay in the house.  We said the back porch only.  I got a small air conditioner that is working just fine for that room.  Fortunately the kids and the cat will only be here one more month.  Could be interesting.  I had cinnamon rolls on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Thunderstorms today.  Cooled off considerably.  Don't know if it will last, though.

LHS was closed yesterday.  My goodies will still be waiting there next week.

Dennis - As an owner of a Cobalt SS, I've lurked around a couple of the forums deticated to that subject.  Like the Honda sites you refer to, they seem to be populated by younger folks.  This CTT forum is much more comfortable.

Went to the dirt track races last night.  Good show.  I still miss the pit work, now that my friend is not running his car this year.  Might try contacting some of the other drivers to see if they could use some help.

All for now.

Hello all,

Splash & go on the way to bed.

Thanks for keeping mom in your prayers

Hope every one has a great Fourth.

Send some of your rain my way. It is dry as he** here. Rainstorms pass north or south but none here. Hayfield that was cut a month ago looks the same as the one cut last week. Broke down and started feeding hay to the cows. Pasture is done and no grass to chop and feed them.

As I type there are fireworks every where. Hope there is no fires.

Son and his cousin are making round bales on an old farm nearby. The owner lets them do it just to keep the fields from being overgrown. They split the hay and it brings in a few extra $. Son has soybean planted on a couple of acres that was overgrown by weeds.

I combined barley yesterday to help out. Still need to bale the straw. The crop of barly was pretty good.

Low key picnic planed for tomorrow . Then watch fireworks.

Off to join Mrs in bed

Prayers for those in need

Evening all

hey Pat was thinking of you this morning about 6:30 as I was going down RT.77 here in Columbia going the other direction about 8 tractor trailers went by with different logos and race cars on the side of them I do remember seeing 48 and UPS and Goodyear can't remember the rest but said to myself this is what pat would love to see wish I had camera with me lol.

Not a lot going on peaceful weekend so far one more day to go thou seeing its a 3 day weekend.

No real train items going on did get my parts in for changing the WBB PB-1 dummy over to tmcc with coil couplers but forgot to order the T bars as Williams dummy couplers use a screw not the T bar Oh well hopefully will get it in befor I go on leave next weekend. So I can finish it next week when I'm off. I also need to dremel the truck where the coupler connects as its just a hair to long to where the hole for the coupler is no biggy done it a few times befor seems I had to do it on my Lionel PA-1 to get that coil coupler to fit as it had a fixed coupler that I think it was screwed in also lol.

Once get that done still need to get some small pieces of plastic to put over the holes in the end doors and the one stack coming up as don't want to bright a light shinning thru the openings.

Hope all having a good weekend talk to you all later

AFRay, I have that DVD of "Gettysburg".  It also starred Jeff Daniels as Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain.  Great movie!  I read the book "Killer Angels" that it was based on before the movie came out.  Been to Gettysburg at least three times.  Always a moving experience.

Banks, good news for your mom.

Dennis, How old is an old Honda?  Mine is a 96 Accord and it still looks new to me except I need a new paint job.  Just turned first 100,000 miles.  I also have an 87 Buick which will quilify as an antique soon.

Happy 4th!

Good Morning,

Raining, but it looks like it is clearing.

All of the Fire Engines are ready for the 2 Fourth of July Parades tomorrow morning. We start off with the parade in Pine Beach and we follow with the parade in Ocean Gate. They are small towns next to each other. A tradition for us.

Fife: I am starting my vacation this week. Don't feel bad, I have not used my yachtet yet this year.

Enjoy the day.

Good Morning

75/87 today

Yesterdays storms knocked out power to 110,000 according the TV news. Guess I can do without that kind of rain. It has become laughable how these news programs come up with an expert adviser for every situation. Out of work?, a good job opportunity there. No breakfast yet, got to fix my own..lol

Enjoy your day...S.J.

Happy Third of July! (Not sure I'll post tomorrow...)

Wellllll, last day of stay-cation.  It's been a bummer.  Finished off week by staining the pirate ship in back yard.   Have to put in a favorable rating for Flood brand stain.  Went on super smooth, and brush was still easy to work with after 4 hours.  Never went swimming.  Never went out on yatchet.  Tomorrow I will chill at the swim club before putting on the monkey suit and working the big fireworks event.

Oh well, southern invasion planned for this month.

Evening Guys,

Sorry for being away for so long.  Work has been crazy and we had Bible School last week.  I think of you all often and you are in my prayers.

Charlie, you have had quite a challenge.  My brother had the same treatment couple years ago.  Hang in there.  Special prayers for you!

Dennis, I agree with you about Chuckie Cheese.

Good Evening,

Cut the grass and helped my son with his truck and repaired a 1/4 panel on a friend of my son's truck. Showered, ran the trains and booked a getaway for a couple of days with my wife.

RRCharlie, Glad to hear from you. Good luck with the cancer. With this group pulling for you you have it made.

Brent, My 07 GMC Pickup just turned 140,000. My Dodge Dakota turned 175,000. Neither had any major problem or the brake fluid flushed at 40,000. Whistling

Banks, Good news for Mom.

Don, Good News on your health.

Mike C, My mom has been in her house for 49 years. I know about the memories.

SJ, Good news about Granny.

AF53, I will be there on Monday.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Banks - Sounds like positive news, good luck.

MikeC - Wow, now that's alot of great memories. I'm sure you will never forget many of them.

SPRay - My wife has a relative who fought there, so we have special interest in Gettysburg and we've been there a couple of times. There are some great movies made about this battle. My favorite one stars Tom Berenger, Jeff Daniels and Martin Sheen. Even though the two disc dvd is just over 4 hours I've seen it many times.

Hey guys, I survived Chuck-E-Cheese!  Oh the things we endure for our kids.  We had the sleep over and then the kids stayed till just a few minutes ago.  Not a whole lot of sleep was had and so we are going to get to bed early tonight.

Doug we are planning a future trip to China for the aforementioned adoption, but may plan to get some visiting in and a nice train ride.  With any luck, they may still have some steam around!

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend, and by all means, honor those who pay the price for our freedom.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning all,

Had to go to funeral for old neighbor yesterday and it was way too hot.  Service was OK at the chapel but graveside service was very uncomfortable.  We had an umbrella for shade but it didn't help much.  Official service by the church was concluded but the family wanted to do extra stuff with more talks etc. so we slipped away before my wife passed out.  The reception was outdoors at a church with shade but no air.  We hated to not attend that but we are getting too old to take the heat.  Temp at the cemetery was near 100 yesterday with funeral at high noon and interment following about 1:00.P.M.  I guess the only good thing you could say was that it was not raining.

We are invited to a cook out near home today around 6:30PM.  Hope it cools down a little by then.

Bought a new gas bar-b-que on Thursday but haven't fired it up yet.  Got the gas hooked up though.  I'm looking forward to doing something with it.  I was thinking of saving my old cast iron gas bar b que and make a charcoal grill out of it but don't think I will bother.  Anyway it has holes in the bottom for gas burners etc.

Wanted to get together with train buddies Thursday night but two out of four were MIA so we called it off.  Hot weather is here to stay for a while now.  Time for the beach.

Happy 4th and if you have a 5th, don't drive.

Today is the anniversary of the second days batttle at Gettysburg 1863 with action at Little Round Top and Culps Hill.  Tomorrow will be Pickett's charge.  General Lee's biggest mistake IMHO.

later,

Ray
