Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in Indiana.  Big day in soccer.  US Women vs. Sweden and for my Norwegian soccer friends (Norway vs Australia in a must win game), and of course the big game tonight wherein Lucas and I and our team try to clinch number 1 seed for the tourney with a win.  Got some semi-good news on financial aid for Lucas.  Situation with cat appears to be cooling down.  Work went well yesterday.  Wife and I had time to take a walk last night.  First time in a long time.  It was nice.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  A good time was had by all on the Tardis although some were griping about the lack of "loop de loops".  That is a specialty for others.  I have been on my head once and that was sufficient.  TBIL after the game.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Brutus, I wonder how many know that loco'?

Locomotion #1 the first to operate on the Stockton And Darlington Railway. Ran until 1841 and is now in Darlington Railwy museum. I saw it many times during the 1960s when it was displayed on the platform at Darlington main line station.

Doug - glad you got it, hope it plays okay for you.  You can watch it on a PC if your dvd player won't play PAL.  Most will play PAL though, even though they don't advertise it.  BluRay Players though, will only play NTSC in our country for BR disks, but some will play dvds formatted in PAL.  Hats off to your friends!

Brent - Lots of prayers for you and Suzie Q!

I mostly just goofed off all day playing video games and stuff.  I did make some burgers and bbq'd them plus some hot dogs.  They had a lot of fat in them, as we got the hamburger from a different grocery store?

Sorry I missed the TARDIS ride, hope MIke gave you guys a good time Thumbs Up  I'll try and catch up tomorrow - BARK.

Wow, what a day.  Filed for another 4 years of torture [re-election].  Meetings over.  Town Board heard thunder and more thunder.  Thought I would walk out to wet pavement.  Dry as a bone. Crying  Early to rise.  Finn and Lucy to groomer in neighboring town.  Lunch with School Board Member and then meeting with State Housing Finance Agency on affordable housing in Rolesville.

Now to rest and have some diet gingerale.  [no popcorn as full of supreme pizza]

Sleep tight.

Good evening everyone.  Getting ready for bed....been a long few days and I am wooped!  Had bible study this morning at 0600, so it was another early rise and out the door.  Went into work, I was not scheduled to do any cases, but ended up helping on a couple.  Did a few things that I have not had to do in YEARS, but you do what needs to be done for the patient.  Don't want to step on toes, but when some folks slack in their efforts, I will certainly step.

Brent, I will pray for everything to go smoothly.  I have seen a number of times of back and forth with an emotional roller coaster...sure your legal team filled you in, but be prepared and pray up.  This is such a big, but welcomed hurdle.  Now, after this is all done, take some advice and keep away from power tools for awhile!Surprise  Suzie Q has enough to worry about!

Jim, If you don't mind, could you save a copy of that magazine for me.  I actually used to be a 3rd degree member of the KofC when I was Catholic.  The KofC was very helpful in getting the word out about our last movie.  I am glad to see such a fine organization as they are supportive of Courageous.  I think a lot of the same groups will like this one.  If you go to the web site, they have special screenings for church leaders, get your information on the list, and go to an area screening.

Chief, our church fireworks were huge....they say around 15-20 thousand were there.  It was amazing in that we had rain all around us, and the sky stayed clear directly above the church's Legacy Park for the whole night.  Even at intersections leading to the park, it was heavy rain.  They had Anthony Evans and his group singing...great!  Also, the Voices of Mobile, from Alabama were there....an amazing group of singers.  While they were singing, you could see lightning in the clouds just at the edge of the park....so they took a break for a little bit.

Hope each of you has a great night.
Dennis

Hi GUYZ,

Worked on the train at the PIONEER TUNNEL today.  I had to be the Conductor all day so no engine time, only to fire it up and get it out of the barn.  Oh well?  Maybe next week.  Hot but nice day today there.  Had to spike down track and fix some ties today.

BRENT AngelAngelThumbs UpBow, hope all goes well.

Good morning all,

Had a nice quiet 4th.  We all enjoyed the pool in the afternoon followed by ribs, corn on the cob etc.  Watched "Yankee Doodle Dandy"  which is our tradition on the 4th.  Never get tired of it.

Got just a sprinkle of rain last night.  Just enough to put spots on the cars but lots of thunder clouds in sky.

E mailed Marty yesterday to check stock on WBB NS executive f3 B unit but he is still out of stock.  However he has more on order whenever they get produced.

Watching the mailbox for a prescription medicine that is over due.  Hope it comes today.

Later,

Ray

Afternoon all

Off today and yesterday for the 4th , have had a good time. Got caught up on weeding and grass cutting and we went to a friend’s house to watch fireworks. There is a park and who ever want to brings fireworks and sets them off. Our friend has a big cookout and we watch from a safe distance.

Just finished lunch of a leftover beef liver and onion sandwich and a Sam Adams. I think I could get used to being off work, until the bills came due! Dennis – There is a nice write-up for the movie Courageous in the July copy of Columbia, a publication of the Knights of Columbus. It looks like it is going to be a good movie.

Brent – I’ll say some special prayers for you and Suzie Q.

 Later, May God bless

............Started packing for 'the event'. We know we're 1 month out, but since the Drs keep telling the birth mother she'll go at least 2 weeks early we felt we better get prepared.

Brent and Susan.......this one definitely warrants a post all by itself.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Sunny And Warm Taxachusetts,

With temperatures a ticl below 90 degrees, an estimated 550,000 from the four corners showed up yesterday in the downtown for the annual evening July 4 Boston Pops concert on the Esplanade.  This year the show was headlined by singer Martina McBride Thumbs Up, Michael Chiklis Thumbs Up, the incomparable conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Thumbs UpThumbs Up, and musicians and choirs from the United States armed forces Thumbs UpThumbs Up.  An estimated national audience of 7 million watched on TV.

The show is "officially" kicked off around 8:30PM with a spectacular flyover by a squadron of F15s cranking the afterburners Thumbs UpThumbs Up, and the event is concluded with 15,000 pounds of fireworks lighting up the skies over the Charles River, orchestrated to music Thumbs UpThumbs Up

If you are into stirring patriotic music, the thundering reports with the firing of the cannons by the National guard during the 1812 overture, or one of the most spectacular fireworks shows in the U.S., this is the venue for you.

Folks start lining up with their blankets and coolers July 3, hoping to stake out a prime spot on the Esplanade lawn for the concert and fireworks show!  Alternatively, other folks start anchoring their boats on the Charles River with unobstructed views to similarly stake claim to a prime spot next to the Espanade.

Imagine trekking with your family into Boston on the commuter rail and then the Green Line, hauling all of your stuff, then sitting out in the sun all day in high 80s temperatures and 70% humidity awaiting the show.

I did this with the family once, including visiting relatives from the UK (not John Baker), and that was enough for this boy.  It was G-R-U-E-L-L-I-N-G.  Didn't get home until almost 1AM.

After the concert, with a zillion folks scurrying for a totally overwhelemed public transportation system, we were compelled to walk/jog very quickly with all of our stuff in still-80s temperatures and high humidity all the way back to North Station, where we barely made the last commuter rail train back homeward.

Now we just kick back at home with a family cookout and afterwards retire to the air conditioned comfort of the family room, the surround sound, and the large screen TV.  I am glad to say my family did this July 4 concert once.  But unless Fife sails up here with his yatchet and we celebrate on it with his family, we have learned our lesson. Pirate

Later, gang!!!!!!!!!  from the sounds of the posts it seems like everyone had a wonderful and safe Fourth.

Jack

Aloha and Happy Fifth of July!  Beautiful weekend here weather-wise. Watched 1776 last night. It's so long, I still have a ways to go. Survived picnics with the in-laws, lots of baseball on TV, including a Sox win on a balk last night. Mel, I love that Flager church - a beautiful place in a beautiful city.  Dennis, our neighbors just returned from China with another older child adopted - a deaf girl who was due to be turned out of the orphanage on July 1st. We've been frantically helping with paperwork - they just made it :)  Can't wait for your arrival, Brent! Yes  Thanks to Brutus, I have a wonderful DVD to study Ivor the Engine. Bow

Mornin' Fellas.

Back to the grind after a long workend. Got the family room cleaned and the floor steamed (carpet cleaner appears to have died - this is the third Bissel carpet cleaner we have owned, they seem to last about a year then die). After cleaning the carpet we discussed whether to replace it with carpet or go hardwood. We are really leaning toward hardwood since it will be easier to clean and won't need a vacuum cleaner to do it! Next house will be all hardwood or tile. Also got down to the train room and have all the frieght car boxes in bins now! Also have the realignment about 80% complete. Hope to finish it tonight and tomorrow. Then I'll be able to do a test run to check for grade issues. Thinking I'll be able to get the basement straightened up Thursday night. Thumbs Up

Morning all.  Had about 1/4th inch of rain [thank you Lord].  We will take it.  That along with soaker hoses has really made garden "smile".  Actually calling for more every evening this week.  About time we got some rain.

Have to drive to Raleigh to file for re-election [Nov.].  A change.  We have always been able to file at our respective Town Halls.  Lady Commissioner and I are riding together.  Come back for lunch and then back for County Commissioners.  Back for Town Board.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Glad to be going back to work to reduce stress.  Wife sick all day yesterday.  All I got accomplished was watching Victory Dinner tape from the 500 (you know it had to be a non-happening day).  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  Brutus, I know the feeling with posting sometimes.  Chief, glad your fireworks show did ok.  Dennis W., I think you match the Chief stride for stride in the "busy" category.   TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Happy 4th.

Nice day in the 80's today.  Watched parade in the morning, grilled hamburgers, then watched fireworks in the evening.  Caught the Kansas City music & fireworks on PBS, as well as the national shoow too.  Good shows, as usual.

Brutus - did you wave when you passed the Sedalia exit?

Back to work tomorrow.

Good evening everyone.  Happy Fourth!  Just winding down from a long day.  Was asked to do the Freedom Festival that our church puts on.  I was on camera for about 5 hours.  It is a great event in that it draws about 15,000 people to some good fun and celebration, but it is a long day and trying to get home can be a task.  Got home late and had to go do an emergency case this morning.  Got home in time to eat some food and then go spend the day at some friends house.  In the morning, I have a bible study at 0600 and then back to work.

Dennis, actually, a number of us have met.  We like to catch up with others and share each other's highs and lows.  Help out when we can and just enjoy some time with friends.  Just like so many great friends that I have in many different states, I don't get to see them that often any more, but I enjoy keeping in touch.  I also learn a lot from folks who have a variety of experience, but the trains are a common thread that bring us together.

Chief, Glad to hear you are doing well.  Hope you are not getting stretched too thin!  You are about the busiest person I know.

God Bless,
Dennis

Pat I see the trucks about 3 times a year always about 6:30 in the morning heading east on 20. guess there coming from maybe Atlanta not sure or heading to N.C. there actually is one track right here and 2 more not that far so its common I guess for them to be running thru here. Just never thought about it that way before.

Chief was glad to figure someone from the Carolina's better start it.

Well had hamburgers with sauté onions, peppers, and mushrooms on them along with french fries and baked beans so guess I'll have my own fireworks tonight Whistling

Hope all had a good day. let us off about 30 minutes early today. Not much happening here tonight just relaxing. Talk to you all later

Good morning all,

After a rainy start, IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Situation with cat may be settling down or may be not...who knows.  If I did not post this earlier, USA advanced to next round of competition in Women's World Cup.  Even if I did post this, good news is never too much. Not much going on today.  I may run some trains.  Our 4th of July parade was getting rained on so I did not attend.  Neighbors set off lots of fireworks last night.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
