Evenin' fellas and gals:    So glad i have a place to rant!   Now i don't have to do my breathing exercises anymore. Not only that my blood pressure is way down. Wifey says i look like a ghost! If i don't wear sunglasses they say i look like the invisible man! Cool  I was doin' real good until i found out about a certain fella that came out of the (Bronx bum) closet.  Wifey says why are your eyes bloodshot and your ears all red? Angry  Never mind i says; don't make me say it out loud!  Remember that duck in Cape May?  Well that duck was a spy from a no good turtle shootin' red neck who likes the......who likes the......don't make me say it!    Dr. Ruth, Dr. Phil, aiuto! Good afternoon all,

It's been another busy day of work, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.  As usual, it's over 100 again today.  It has been over 100 every day for the past two weeks or so.

Copper thefts are common out here: meth addicts steal it to pay for their habit.

Happy Birthday Charlie! Happy B-Day

Good day,

Mornin' fellas and gals:   Well, the trampoline building adventure is over. It was easy, all i needed was a sledge hammer, a pair of channel locks, and the strength of Hercules to put it together. Great directions, it's so easy , a child could do it!......... NOT!     Anyway, kids loved it.    S.F. Dennis:   If you get a chance pick up a copy of the book "The History of Unions in America".  Quite informative. You'll never think of unions in the same way.  Great read.  From where i sit, unions mostly work hand in glove with mgt. Just another form of control, at your expense.        later.

HOME!!  Actually got home yesterday afternoon late during a T'storm.  More later.  Went to eat Mexican with Pam's sister and BIL.  Watched some TV and went to sleep.  Burg had tummy problems and got me up three times early this AM.  Last time was 4:30 AM so stayed up.  Was to take outside cat to Vet.  Pam had been holding it all week long.  Could not catch it [again] this AM.  Took Finn and Burg for yearly.  That [shots and Intercepter for 6 months for all three] would have paid for a good NS diesel or another rifle.  OH WELL.  Errands to do rest of the day [take a nap too].

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLIE....Cake Happy B-Day

64/78 for today.

Looks like a perfect summer day.

2 eggs, 2 slices fried Spam, 1 toast for breakfast. We have the same copper problem here and part of the blame has to go to the scrap dealers, they have to know they are buying stolen goods...S.J.

Good morning guys.  I am heading in a little later, so relaxing with my daughter on the couch...she is waiting for the computer to play her dress up games!  Still it is nice to have her here with me.  Son is still sleeping.

Laz, with copper so high, we have a big problem of folks stealing air conditioner coils and irrigation pivot wiring.  The local power...Georgia Power Company has gone to marked and coded wire that can be traced for when the thieves try to sell it.

Ray, sad to hear about California's rulers passing laws that many do not want just to win certain groups.  It leads to the big deficits that your state has.  Seems we have like minded folks from both major parties in Washington DC trying to do the same thing.  Not about doing what is right, it is about getting elected/re-elected.  I know we can't get into the political thing here, just suffice to say we have big problems.

Doug, our friends from Downers Grove are heading this way.  They have been without power too and are just happy to be getting away from the storms.  With 110 heat, they may not stay for long.  It would be real bad if we didn't have AC here!  Enjoy the rest of your stay and have a safe return.

Well, have a great Friday Eve everyone!
God Bless,
Dennis

Hi GUYZ,

59 here this morning!  Had a nice slow easy 2 mile run today,GOLF later.  I took all my non ferrous metal down to junk yard and to my astonishment raked in 180 bucks!  Not bad for copper and aluminum.  No1 copper was bringing in $3.55/lb!  The highest that I ever saw.  Wish I had more, I need a Lionel Vision Hudson!

Stya frosty and watch your topknot,

Hudson....We too have seen equipment stolen right under the nose of the contractor, but for a municipal licensed bus driver to load and and unload passengers in a well defined construction zone when a safe bus stop was 1 1/2 blocks away is un-conscionable on the part of the bus driver.

Hello all,

I refreshing 63 degrees this morning. Still very dry. Fall crops are in serious danger. Feeding hay now leaves less to sell later Sigh

Not much else happening here. Have all moms preliminary work complete. She's good to go. Mrs & I have decided to skip our annual camping trip to Indian River Inlet.Sad Just in case something comes up with Mom. We're considering a week at Blue Knob State Park, 20 minutes from home. Or a November trip to Delaware. Daughter & family are taking our camper to Raystown this weekend so I've been getting it ready for them.

88 Good luck. Angel continue.

No time for trains. SS fund calls

Good morning all,

It IS another beautiful sunny day in SE Indiana!   US Women's team crushes the French 3-1 and will now face an inspired team from Japan.  Could be an interesting match up.  Sunday at 2 PM EDT, you will find my posterior parked in my favorite chair watching the ladies go for the Cup.  The outside world will go away from me for two hours.  On another soccer note, we finished the regular season undefeated with a 2-1 win over the 2nd place team.  Both our positions were set, but you would never know it from the intensity of the game.  Yesterday was good at work.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".   TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning,

Beautiful day in NJ, 68 going to a high of 83.

Worked on the bathroom sink drain in mom's house last night. Got it to flow decent, have to go back after work and snake it again. The pipe runs in the wall between the bathroom and kitchen with a 90 degree bend after the p trap. A lot of crud thru the years is built up.

Buckeye, What you described is normal for us everyday. Last week we had a truck stolen as he crew was emptying the equipment off the back of the truck in one of our urban cities.

Demay, Joe, Good luck with the move.

Have a great day,

John

High 90's today.  At least the humidity is down a bit.

Got in contact with my burner desigining friend and discussed my flash steam project.  I was waaaay off.  The burner he described to meet my calculated size would have heated a good portion of my house!  Backed into the calculations from a different direction tonight and came up with a more realistic looking numbers.  I think my mistake was how I read the steam tables - haven't done calculations like that since the late 70's.

No train stuff recently, though.

All for now.

Good evening all,

It's been a while since I last posted.  All is going well, but I have been swamped at work.  I have been working long hours and I do not have much left in the tank when I get home.  I only have six more weeks here before we pack out for Japan so I'm hoping work returns to normal soon.  I've been running trains with the kids when I can, but we have a lot of things to do to prepare for our move.  I have caught up on the posts and I'm glad to see most are doing well.  I hope I didn't miss anything critical.

I'll pray for all of you; I don't have to know all your needs - He does.

Good night,

It was a little cooler in Saint Louis today after rains last night.  Well, my truck would not start this morning.  I tried a few things and it finally went, but I headed to the service department as I didn't want to get stranded downtown after work.  I figured it was the battery and apparently I was right.  Also a wire harness for the blower control was melted where a resistor went out, so that had to be replaced as well.  It was due for a service including transmission fluid and oil jobs.  All together, I never made it to work today and it cost me nearly $800.  Can you tell we paid this thing off a few months ago?  And it's now out of warranty?  Geeez.

Doug D G - continued prayers for you and your better half!  I am glad you posted - please keep us up to date!

Jack - yeah, I tried to watch it as I had sun stroke as a kid, was found passed out in a neighbor's yard by someone driving down the street.  I actually remember waking up when they put me in an ice bath, and this was probably back in about 1969 or 1970?  Be careful!!!  I try to take Laz's advice and Stay Frosty!  Apparently, someone already stole my top knot!

Dennis - my kids are a bit older than yours, but that sounds like a neat game.

RT - good one!

Nice emails with RT earlier and then a nice chat with SJ tonight.  Son is trying to beat my score on Angy Birds on my phone - eek!  TARDIS must be ready so let's hit it boys!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Aloha all. We're enjoying our time in the deeeeep south. It is even better since a huge storm went through Crystal Lake and knocked out power for everyone back home.  It sure is hot though. I bought a huge pile of train and modeling magazines to read, though as on any trip with youngsters, I haven't cracked many of them yet. Spotted a sand shark off the beach this am. Don't think the bride will go near the water again. Wink

Hello all and good evening! Gotta stay away from ebay for awhile (self-impossed). Workload has me going alot and I've missed catching up here from time to time. Wife's car just had some maintenance in an effort to pass inspection. Let's see..... replace DPFE sensor, R&I throttle body & EGR valve, clean the port and replace gaskets. Not bad for $450 with labor. Drive it for a couple days and check codes again and hope the check engine light stays off! Can't complain too much as her car does have 126,000 miles, and it's been pretty good so far.

RT - "you know John and Ray I'm waiting for Rays wife to come up with at Christmas time you know dear John has given you a lot of trains don't you think we should get this or that train set for him and it just happen to be what she was going to spend on ray for Christmas"   Just two words - NOT FUNNY!!

HudsonJohn - Where's the center pick-up? When A.C. Gilbert took over he did away with those things!!!

Brent - Things are getting closer! Enjoy these times!! (If I were you I'd start a diary).

Jack - Your Sox do keep winning even with guys on the DL. We've all seen too often when the guys get back from the DL the machine sometimes stalls a bit for a while. It's a tight race early on.

Dougdagrump - Stop making the wife cry and get better!

Buckeye - The Chief can eat all the grits he wants, he's OK in my book!

So I'm standing at the corner waiting for the contractor and I see this young woman walk right into the construction zone through the orange barrels  talking on her cell phone with a front end loader heading for her.  Luckily, the operator saw her and stopped.  She remained talking on her phone and then after ten seconds noticed the loader operator waving her out of the way.  She stepped aside and the loader proceeded.   I asked her what she was doing?  She matter of factually stated, "I'm waiting on the bus."  I suggested she not wait inside the construction zone due to the danger, but just as I ended my sentence the city bus arrived and blocked the one way construction traffic as she boarded the bus.  The bus driver glared at me as I took her buses photo to send to the City.
