Good evening guys.  Quick stop over on way to bed.  Didn't sleep well last night and was up at 0300 to do my daily reading and then we had our Tuesday morning bible study.  Then into work.  Joe, glad you made it home safely.  It looks like you had a good time in your stay down here...sorry we didn't get to catch up.  Folkson has quite the reputation!

Bob, with regard to your Japanese train, you may want to talk with Bob Nelson as he lived there for awhile and has spoken of their trains here...you could also do a search and pick up old conversations.

Chuck, don't get over-stuffed with the Cheerios!  Looking forward to your photos.

Chief, we too were supposed to get the rain and it didn't happen.  I had also planned on fertilizer, but passed this time as I was too busy.  Good thing, or I would have some burn spots by now, at least in the areas not fed by the irrigation system.

John, I know about taxes in NJ.  My dad still lives in Bergen County.  It is about time they did some re-adjustment and went with real fair market values.  Here, we just had the county do it's appraisals and they listed the home value the same as last year.  Taxes did go up slightly for the School tax, but that was all.  Our local system is among the best in the state, and with the county still growing, they are having to build more classrooms.

Chief, I don't care what dem Yankees have been saying, you are a good man!  Hope you have a good week ahead.

God Bless,
Dennis

BTW: forecast for rain?????  Lightning  What rain.  Lady said make your kids take their rain gear to school as they will need it. Umbrella I guess to make them sweat in the sun.  One brief shower [not measurable] and a sprinkle. Bang Head  Planted garden and fertilized lawn due to the forecast saying rain yesterday and today.  AngryStorm  Now tomorrow afternoon, I'll rush to the lake house to mow and rush back.  Watch it rain and it is not forecasted. I stumbled across Ivor because 'he" now has an iPad app. What a neat story. There's episodes on YouTube I'll have to pursue as well.

Afternoon fellas and gals:  Max nix on the tax appeal. It seems I (wifey) forgot to include difference in comparables!    Bang Head    They did say however that it was prepared beautifly and if we chose we could go to Trenton to appeal their decision! That was so kind of them. Wifey got me out of there pronto before someone had to come and bail me out!    Angry    Hey Jack: I have the ultimate solution for geese; they leave me little pellets on the lawn and i give those little pellets right back to' em.   Whistling    Nuff' said!    later.

Jack,

I never understood why people stand in the middle of a highway after an accident either.  My best guess is that it is Darwin's Theory in action.Surprise

The best I can figure out is that either they are suicidal with a death wish or already have brain damage from a previous similar incident.  Laugh  I could just picture my wife if she accidentally mowed one of the bystanders down.  She would be super distraught and hysterical......because she dented her car.  Laugh

My wife observed the girl who initiated the demolition derby was still sitting in her car.....and was talking on her cell phone.  Guess once (the first collision) was not enough for her.

Just got back from the second interview for the position that I interviewed for the week before last.  It went well, and the interviewer said that HR would get back to me.  I am working on the followup letter right now so that it'll go out today.

That can mean only one thing, and it is very good.  You separated yourself from the herd on the first cut (resume) and again in person during the second round (interview) and are now on the short list. Thumbs Up  Prayers you score on this one. Angel

Good morning all,

Chuck, glad you got the Cherrios car.  I think the grits are inside

Went to doctor yesterday and my knee is slowly getting better.  I can walk a little now without the walker.  He says I will start threapy after the next visit which is next Tuesday,  He says I can drive again too as soon as I can walk.  Don't need left foot for driving anyway.  I took a couple of pain pills during the night last night and slept for a total of 9 hours.  Haven't done that in years.  I think it did me a lot of good.

We are having a little percipitation here today with more rain to follow tomorrow.  Unusual for this time of year but we can use it.  I saw something on TV about how low Lake Mead in Las Vegas is getting.  Looks pretty bad.  The building boom stopped over there after the recession but they need to pipe in water from somewhere else in the future.

Hope everyone has a good week,

later, Ray

Mornin' All.

Lovely day here, if you're a snail or a slug. Low 50's with maybe, just maybe we'll see low 60's. If it stays like this all week a big pot of chili for lunch on friday sounds good. Bring your own Beano though. Oops - Sign

John B, Agree with you on the Thomas & Friends. When they went digital it went stinko, also it seemed that the story content also went downhill.

Roy, In-N-Out Burgers are good but there is no way in hadees that I would wait 2 hours in line. When you finally decide to make the trek check their "Special Menu" on-line first.

Jack, With regards to the geese, now you know the origin of the term "Something like a goose".

Doug M. A very belated Happy B-Day. Did Chuck save you any of that "special" cake that was prepared for his B'day. Whistling

Jim. Sounds good on the interviews. Thumbs UpThumbs Up

Later all, need to refill the Coffee.

Lunch Time,

Rainy, dreary day.

John Baker: I never heard of Ivor the Engine. Is it about the same format as Thomas? My son grew up with Thomas. That may explain his love of trains. To be honest, I enjoy him too and I am known to every once and a while pop in a Thomas Tape.

Joe, Meetings: I feel that meetings are a way ineffective managers make themselves feel important, waste your time and tell you absolutely nothing but do more with less and it is up to you to figure it out. Bang Head

Trindood: Good Luck with the tax appeal.

RI Jack: Canadian Geese, Why are they still protected. They are a nuisance and what good do they do. They are over populated. Back in the 1960's when they were "endangered" was one thing but now we should have hunts to get rid of the surplus. Maximus must be in his glory protecting the property. our dog Mack would probably make friends with them as he did to a wild turkey. The others he chases, this one stays close but not too close when he is sitting or laying in the yard. They just kind of hang out every so often.

Everyone have a great day.

John

Good Mornin' Ya'll from Dismal and Gloomy Taxachusetts,

JohnBaker.......you would feel right at home here right now.  We are having UK weather.

Life is good.  This 40s-50s rainy weather may be somewhat depressing in the short run, but it is doing wonders for my lawn's recovery from the general ravages that go with large breed dog ownership, the past winter, my wife's never-ending quest to train Maximus in precisely the exact same spot in the back yard, and Canadian geese with ill intent.....the latter two issues wearing things right down to the nub.  Maximus has been doing an exceptional guarding job, mostly keeping the Canadian geese where they belong, in the pond.  It is strange.  These "protected" geese propagate like crazy.  Between eating the lawn right down to the dirt and producing what seems to be more fecal material than an elephant, they are a real nuisance.  The geese as often as not will attack me when I try to chase them off!  Nasty suckers!  Yet they won't mess with my dog that is half my size.

With the continuous downpours I made sure I called my wife yesterday afternoon to express concern over the road conditions and to remind her to keep her usual Autobahn-like highway speeds down to a safe level  on her way home to avoid hydroplaning, a wreck, or worse.  She sounded annoyed that I thought she needed this reminder before she hung up.  When she walked into the house it was the opposite attitude:  "What a demolition derby I saw out there!!!!"  Sure enough, just ahead of my wife, by a minute or so, some young girl managed to lose control of her car on a relatively blind curve in the rain and caused a multiple vehicle pileup.  Her car wound up hitting a few other ones in the process and came to rest facing the wrong way.  No one appeared hurt and many were out of their vehicles......standing out in the middle of the highway by their vehicles while the still-moving traffic took evasive maneuvers !!!!  I guess the accident participants figured there was no sense in wasting a perfectly good ambulance response.  Can you spell SPLATTTT ?????!!!!!!!  Or DUHHHHH ?????!!!!!

Went over to the daughter and SIL's last night to formally celebrate my daughter's birthday and to pig out accordingly.  They brought in trays of prepared Italian and used plasticware to keep things simple.  Baked Mostacholi in cheese and marinara; meatballs and sausage in marinara with the classic onions and green peppers; some yummy potato wedge concoction with onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and Italian suasage; and freshly baked scala bread. Dinner  It soon appeared the grandchildren were wearing as much food as they were eating.  Photo op time!!!  The humorous birthday cards were both numerous and quite entertaining, one more insulting than the next. Smile, Wink & Grin

Chuck and SJ......the two of you must be getting very sleep-deprived.

Chuck, your Indians are the winningest team in Major League baseball.  SJ, your Tigers are on fire, winning 8 of their last 10, and closing the gap with the Indians by 3 full games.  How on earth are the two of you going to survive another 5 months of this?  How is this battle in the AL Central Division going to affect your friendship?

And Joe, you must be beside yourself with the Yankee tailspin.  They have lost 6 in a row and 7 of their last 10.  While you are correct that no other team in baseball has won more MLB championships, you have to admit that the state of affairs and excitement in the American League this season is good for baseball.  If the Yankees weren't so cheap on the payroll side of things they would be doing much better.  Whistling

Later, gang.  Stay dry and stay warm.

Jack

Mornin' fellas and gals:     Dreary, damp and drizzly here today. Goin' to tax appeal hearing this am.   Bang Head   Can't wait to hear what these people have to say.   Angry    Last year this town lost 700,000 to tax appeals. This year they predict they will lose over a million!  Just shows how overpriced these homes have been taxed at for decades.  The party is over for this smug township, reality has finally arrived!    The younger generation here is smart and computer literate enough to read between the lines, and will not tolerate  the never ending spending; it's just not sustainable.     later.

Good Morning

40s/50s still gloomy.

Joe there were 2 other beacons operating Sat. night so I had it covered. I didn't think about it till Sunday morning but we could have gottin a picture of the Tardis in one of the shots. If Charlie comes back with his camera maybe we will do that.

Enjoy your Tuesday...S.J.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and about 60 right now; today's high is 72.  I arrived to work early this morning so I could start catching up.  However, I have three meetings to attend today which will hinder my progress.

SJ - That makes sense.  I thought maybe you were worried one of your guests would spill something on it causing it to go out and you miss the Tardis.

Doug - We used to call our 9y/o daughter Drama Queen, but we stopped since it was becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.  Surprise

Our 7y/o son has a baseball game tonight so I won't be making the Tardis.

Good day,

Joe

Ivor the Engine is a childrens TV cartoon on BBC over here, it has been around for at least 30+ years and has graduated from a cardboard cut out to computer graphics. They have converted Thomas to graphics and ruined it for me!!!Sad

Installed the coal loader last night (close to the layout edge so if it screws up I can reach it) and it works great! Now to find some coal. LOL. Good Morning,

Rain the next few days here. Real busy here this morning. They are installing a fuel management system on the vehicles and equipment. Problem is the batteries are going dead. A lot of jump starts. What do you mean the garage service and tow trucks won't start. Nice Job.

Phone again.

Everyone have a great day.

Good morning all,

Again not sure about the weather today.  Yesterday was long day.  Intestinal issues bothered me at work which was long enough as it was.  After unloading van at daughter's and picking up another load for tonight, came home to find internet was down.  Lucas' grades were bad last semester.  Dog was having issues as well.  Only bright spot was action at track as one of the small teams lead the speed chart (Tags) and Vitor was 6th quick.

Keep on training,

Evening all!

Another beautiful day here - mid-70's and 50's at night. Tomorrow will be a little bit warmer and now rain predicted Thurs and Fri. It's all good!

Doug M - The coal loader is a beaut! I have one like it and as John F says - they are very cool! (BTW - I enjoyed the "enthusiasm" - maybe like they call the guy on Jersey Shores the "situation" you can call your son the "enthusiasm" or maybe the "attitude" - or "attidude?" - regardless he will love you all the more for it - right?).

John Hudson - we also went to four 10 hours days - followed by 2 more 10 hour days week after week after week....

Chuck - glad you like the surprise - and to prevent any other "surprises" - you better listen to SWMBO on where to eat the Cheerios in the proximity of the Cherrios boxcar - hate to think where the boxcar could end up?

BTW - DougsnottaG - they finally opened the "In and Out Burger" joints here. Had cars lined up around the block and a 2 hour wait for those in line inside and out the door to get served.

Have a great day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

We had a pleasant day weather-wise today.  I did not have time to post this morning as I had much work piled up after being away for two weeks.  I didn't even scratch the surface yet either.  We had bratwurst for dinner tonight - it was delicious.  Afterwards, we played with the kids, read, and then put the kids to bed.  I was able to run the trains for only about 15 minutes tonight.  My replacement Lionel Fastrack Crossing Gates w/Flashers came in while I was gone.  I installed it Saturday and it is a very fun accessory.

Chief - Most of their trains were only two or three locos long, but yes, they did look old.  I wasn't there long enough to see any of the Amtrak passenger trains roll through.  I really enjoy the UP trains that run behind our house.

Doug - Happy Birthday (belated)!  I'm sorry I missed that.  Thanks for sharing the photos.

SJ – I’m almost afraid to ask, but why does your beacon have plastic on it?

All the Yankees haters and Red Sox fans can laugh now - we'll see who is playing in October.  And always remember the Yankees already have 27 championships.  How many does the next closest team have?

Good night,

Joe
