Good Evening

It actually did it. 83 today.

I came home empty handed from the TTOS show.Granny's gonna help me pack tomorrow for york. Charlie has declared an 8:30am leaving time on Tuesday. He has never been to Strasburg so that will be our Wednesday. Banilla is ready for the thingy. Temp is still 79. Ahh feels good even if it is only for one day..

Windy and 80's today.  Good possibility of thunderstorms tonight.

Turned the dirt over in the tomoato and veggie patches.  Was quite a project.  Got out the little tiller.  It backfired and broke the recoil start.  Got out the big tiller and discovered that it has a stuck float in the carb & needs a rebuild :(  It ran long enough to get the work done though.

Won a lot of five cars on e-bay yesterday.  Scout sized boxcars - a Baby Ruth, A shredded Wheat, a Frisca and a couple of milk cars that will need some TLC.

Missed a 16 wheel machinery flat car by a penny!  Was a good one too - had what looked like the original beam load, brake wheels and box for a reasonable price.  Oh well.  There will be others.

Prayers for healing and safe travel.

All for now.

Good evening all,

Was a nice day today, made it to 60 and not a lot of wind, so it felt warmer than that.  To go over 80 tomorrow, don't know what that is all about as Tuesday it is to be back to 60 again.  Just hope we do not get a lot of rain for York, but if we do, so be it.

Resident granddaughter turned 18 today.  Took her to her favorite restaurant.

All have a good week.

In the May '11 issue of CTT in the new section is a report on Towers you can buy for your layout. Facade with no base or back and the sides are not detailed, priced at $750.00. Also a science building for $1000.00. No mention of lighting, Etc. What am I missing for this kind of money?

Good evening everyone.  Had a little "incident" with the mexican food.  I am allergic to mushrooms and even after telling them so...I got some in my fajita.  Took some meds and a nap.   Then I headed back to church for evening worship.  Great message on book of John.

Ray, if you ever venture this way, I can suggest some great side trips.  Ft. Benning has the National Infantry Museum which is only about 20 minutes from the CSA Naval Museum.  There is also a number of things around Atlanta that could fill in the week.

Regarding the snake....yeah, that looks familiar.  Ours had some yellow rings around it's body.  Since it eats poisonous snakes and other critters, we will leave it alone.  I kept the skin shed.  Not sure what to do with it, but it makes for a fun show-n-tell.

I am on call this week, so I hope to get some early train time in before heading in.
God Bless,
Dennis

Evenin' All.

Been a really crazy week and just was not in a very communicative mood, in other words I was just plain crabby. However the main sources have been resolved, just in time for control system craziness on friday. Never did get them figured out but it seemed like 90+% of the visitors had a cell device stuck in their ear, maybe/maybe not.

8n, I have just the link for your office decor. Click on the link and check out the item at the top right corner of the page. Yes http://www.jaktool.com/JAK%20TFB-MHP%2010-06%20REV%20A.pdf

Prom ? Been so long ago forgot what that was. Black Eye

Daughter was out with the munchkin today, she was grading book reports while SIL at home finishing taxes and grampa was playing.

In honor of those making the trek to York I cooked up a mess of Scrapple for late breakfast/mid morning snack. Only the daughter and I like the stuff, all the others only said yuk. Smile

Pat, Need to take another look, I didn't see them.

Need to get back to the "Honey Do" list, later y'all.

Good morning all

Chief, you know your history well.  I know Gen Johnston's story too.  You were right about Sherman being overuled for the lenient terms he offered Johnston.  There is a story about how Johnston removed his hat during bad weather when Sherman's funeral procession passed him.  He was told that at his old age he shouldn't do that and well, he did get sick and died of pneumonia shortly thereafter.  Johnston said "If it was the other way around, I'm sure Sherman would have removed his hat".  So I guess Johnston thought there was some good in him.

Ray

Ray, I'm one of those Rebs that does not dislike Sherman.  He was in the Army and was given orders.  He followed them.

Buckeye is just trying to get another one of my fabulous brithday gifts I send him. Wink

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  My big plans for the day went down the toilet almost literally.  I did get dad's yard mowed and I cut down a dead blue spruce tree.  Went thru some more stuff.  Vitor had a rough day and finished.  Still in top ten in points.   Team Red won again as Will Power lead flag to flag.  Swlss Miss was 9th and Princess was 17th.  Vettel won F-1 race.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Interesting weekend here.  I went to use the 360 on Friday, but the drive refused to open.  SInce I had the 2 year Product Replacement Plan from Best Buy ($80 for the plan), back it went.  When my 3 previous 360s died, under the plan they were replaced with new units right off the floor right then.  Not this time.  Now, you have to wait about a week to get a refurbished console.  I told the associate that wasn't what was done with the plan in the past, but he told me that "it has always been this way".  I got so fed up that I just went to Walmart Saturday morning and bought a new 360.  I didn't think to speak with a manager at Best Buy at the time, but I will when I pick up the refurbished console.

No more Best Buy Bait and Switch for me.

I am still working on the 624.  The body needs another coat in spots, then that part willbe done.

Afternoon all!

Sunny, very warm (80's), and very humid here. Supposed to rain this afternoon. We need it.

To make sure it rains I washed 3 of our cars this morning.Lightning

Went to dinner at the Cheescake Factory with some friends last night. They have really good food and huge portions, so we shared 2 entrees and 2 appetizers between 4 people and still took some home.

Getting ready for York next week. Leave here on Tuesday. Have to finish some critical work before I go.

Hope everyone is having a great day today. Payers for those that need them Angel

BTW - isn't almost time for Buckeye's B-Day?

Regards, Roy

Aloha all. Everyone had fun at the minor-league hockey game last night - though it was late. Really family friendly folks. And the good guys won.  Long day at church today and what made it harder: it's 83 degrees out. Go figure. I think one of the earliest 80s in Chicago history. I'll take it though. Opened all the sealed windows and turned off the heat.

Fife, glad the pup went. My boy is waffling about it because of the cost. Would rather him work harder finding a job though.  Dennis, would like to see the Conf. Navy Museum - what the CSA did with 'nothing' was amazing.

Off to begin celebrating the bride's Birthday Celebratory Week - I didn't know such a holiday existed. Glad she told me.

Good morning all

RT, didn't know you felt that way about the South.  It was a great place to grow up for me. I like the words to an old song that says, "they made it twice as nice as paradise and they called it Dixieland".  I have a small stars and bars flag along side of my U.S. flag also in the train room from a historical prospective. My wife was not too keen on display in the house either.

Dennis, yes Augusta National Golf Course is a beautiful place.  Would like to see it someday.

Have a nice Sunday,

Ray

Good Mornin' Ya'll from Hazy/Sunny Taxachusetts,

Rain in the forecast, may hit 60 today and 70 tomorrow.  I'll take it!!!!!!!

Had our usual Grammy and Grampy Saturday night dinner with the daughter, SIL, and the little ones last night.  They brought Chinese from Boston's Chinatown, the real stuff!!!!  Then I hit DQ with the oldest grandchild to pick up dessert, and the place was mobbed.  It was interesting to see folks running around in t-shirts and shorts when the outdoor temps were in the low 50s.  Then they sat down at the picnic tables to eat their ice cream!  Wonder what they will be wearing when the temps are about 40-50 degrees warmer.  It all got me to thinking.....I don't have any tattoos or body piercings.  I'll have to get on that.  Maybe Chuck, RaySP, and SJ can tell me where they got theirs.  Whistling

Watched some NASCAR and auto auctions later on in the evening.  I still wish they would include commentary on the BRAND of car I'm watching......can't tell one from the other.  Could use some technical specs on the engines as well.  Also, since fuel economy plays such a vital role in race startegy, they might include more on that too.  YAK YAK YAK.......too much drivel coming out of the commentators.  And I didn't see the tachometer/rpm gauge in the camera cars as they were screaming down the straightaways either.  What's with that?

Dog training on tap later today up in NH.  I am hoping there are no pipes lying out in the roadway this time around, like last Sunday.  Had my vehicle checked out up on a rack earlier in the week at my mechanic's.  Save for one dent underneath, it looks like we dodged a mechanical and perhaps a life-threatening issue.  Don't know about yuz guyz, but using synthetic motor oil may seem expensive.  But the prolonged motor oil change intervals really even the "cost" playing field.....at least for someone like me who puts on 1,500-2,000 miles a month driving hitherto and yon.

Mother-in-law is still making good progress, no further snafus yet.  Learned last night that the first antibiotic the Docs used wasn't quite equal to the task.  Thank you all for your kind words and prayers.  We may all be a bunch of knuckleheads in HIS/HER eyes, but SHE/HE seems to think our prayers have merit.

Prayers for all who need them.

Later, gang.

Jack

PS:  Chief.....you need to get Pam's granite countertops from the granite state up Nawth. Whistling

Morning.  Big T'storms came through last night.  Much needed rain.  Cloudy and chilly but not cold.  Suppose to warm up though.  80 tomorrow and maybe 90 Tuesday with a chance of some showers.

Hope all those traveling to York have a safe trip.

Dennis, you are right.  Msot folks think that when Lee surrendered, everyone packed up and went home.  Did not happen.

Fifey, a sharp shooting LE should be able to take care of Mr. Cottontail.  If you can't shoot in town, buy a high powered air rifle.  What I use on squirrels. DevilWhistling

Have a great WORK week.  Keep the SS coming in [mine is due Wednesday].  Big Smile

Got grass to mow if it ever dries out.  Probably tomorrow as I do not like to do that on Sundays.  That is unless the "ox gets in the ditch".  Might burn some powder tomorrow AM [go to the shooting range that my buddy belongs].

Later.

Howdy all!

Welp, I visited the new train store in Charlottesville, Train Town.  Anyway, their selection isn't all that great, and their prices are about 10% over list.  Can't think of any reason I'd want to visit there again.

Spanky - Thanks for the up date. I won't make a special trip to Charlottesville. The next time I am there I will check out Train Town.

dwiemer - Would like to introduce Mr Slithers to some bulb-consuming cottontails around Fifedom...

Fife, I will send him up.....but please send him back as King snakes also eat rattle snakes, and that's a good thing!

Morning all, quiet time/reading done.  Time for breakfast and getting ready for church.  I may be on camera, not sure as the director had forgotten to schedule around my time in Tennessee.  I was able to get some layout work done last night and hope to get some more done after church.  I am building some HO scale buildings to place in the back ground as forced perspective.

Chief, In Columbus Georgia, they have a marker by the Chattahoochee River stating it was the last battle of the Civil War.  From what I have read, it was more of a skirmish of small proportion.  It is in question if it was the last battle though.  If you ever get there, they have a nice museum where they have a couple of confederate gun boats.  The Confederate Naval Museum.

May each of you have a blessed week ahead.
