Good Morning,

Brutus, Congratulations on your niece's birth. May Sophie Marie have a happy, healthy life.

Joe, Don't encourage Ray with the Yanks. Anything Yankees, he has it. Wait, my wife and I are responsible for some of it.

AF53, Ray, You know that I have to tease about the Yankees. I have school tonight, but I think Doray is home. Thursday night I am meeting with the financial planner with his plan for my RETIREMENT. 23 months can't come quick enough.

Time for the Safety Huddle,

John

A quick Aloha to welcome Sophie to the planet. Glad your bride is getting back to work too, Brutus. Happy Anniversary to you SJ!  Going to bring the teen to Ohio on a quick visit to his sister and  to check out her school as a possible-college for him as well. Not looking forward to any snow... Sad,  Is it almost Friday?

Good morning all,

It is quite foggy and rainy today; the high is 54.  I guess the warm weather doesn't come back again until tomorrow.  I had Raisin Bran and coffee for breakfast.  I have a slow day planned at work today, and tonight we have Bible study.

John - I guess Ray and I will get along very well since I am a huge Yankees fan.  I went to many games when I was kid.  I have not been to the new stadium yet, but I was able to take my son to a game during the old stadium's last season.

It's time to get back to work.

Note to self... don't read posts while scrolling. I was doing that when I read SJ's post below

 sir james I:

Good Evening

It made 40s today, still less than the average.

We had a nice meal at Applebees this afternoon, that's what granny wanted for 52 years stuck with me. I thumbed the Mags I haven't read and the OGRs will probably go fast but I saw some stuff in CTT I want to spend some time with. Banilla will be ready for the thingy so come on by...S.J.

I read it as "We had nice mice at Applebees" SurpriseIck!

[quote user="lionroar88"]

Brent......after reading your post, my mind conjured up an image of the Chief catching the mice and making a pot of Southern stew with them, plus a side of grits covered with Red Eye gravy. Nightmares followed. Smile, Wink & Grin

SJ........ Thumbs Up 52 years?  WOW!!!!!!  The Pope texted me last night, is thinking of fastracking the cannonization of your wife.  Congratulations to you, and my condolences for your wifey.  Bow

Brutus......  Thumbs Upone good piece of news after another coming from you.  Char's returning to work.  The birth of your niece, Sophie.  Your train score.  And not mentioned, your Dad's recovery with the knee.  Spread your karma!!!!!!!

AF Ray.......yahoo on Sable's continued recovery!!!!!!!!!!!  What a relief!!! Thumbs Up

JimSP.....not to worry.  I still have one 8' x 2' x 9" deep strip of snow in my back yard.  Local meteorologists hastily trying to find a replacement for the snow warnings, dusting off the old scripts for Spring flooding now to fill in the gaps for their daily "news" contribution/barrage.

DougM.......how on earth did you get the wifey to grant you additional real estate under roof for your layout?  From the sounds of things, construction of your layout expansion commenced within minutes of her "land grant."  Laugh

Chief........we also looked and are still looking into vinyl siding.  Folks in New England generally find wood clapboard siding both traditional and quaint.  The painters find it lucrative.  But I find it a pain.....long term, an expensive pain.   I want to eliminate the maintenance and perpetual repainting.  And I had an opportunity last Fall to mitigate some of the additional cost of vinyl by using the contractor's available color inventory and his work crews that were running out of work as Winter approached..  Everything came to a grinding halt when the wifey found that absulutely none of his available colors were acceptable. Bang Head

Joe.......hope your wife's parents don't overdue it.  A major relocation can be quite taxing, physically and emotionally.

Joe and SJ......Yup.....the CTT forum the past few nights was unusable for me as well, but none of the other sites I visit.

DonB and SubmmBob.........keep passing that warmer air our way.

Later, gang!!!!!!!!

Jack.

Lunch Time:

Jack, My house house has natural cedar shakes and the garage has cedar planking with painted wood trim. When we built the house in the 80's, that is what my wife wanted and it does look good. Now they have the vinyl siding that looks like the siding on the house. About every 5 years I have the house pressure washed and resealed an the trim redone. Every so often I think about getting it sided and I then decide against it.

Getting tired of these snow forecasts. What happened to global warming?

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Have a great day,

Mornin'/Afternoon All.

First post in several days, been really pooped after some very busy days. Regular museum run friday, kids club fun run saturday then mucho honey do's sunday/monday.

Fife_ Very sad sailing day, skipper's intent was really good but sounds as if some errors were made.

Lots of "Congas" due to a multitude of potters as well as alot of Angel . These both tend to remind one to slow down a little and smell the flowers, even if they are covered in snow as long as it ain't yellow. Beer on me.

Really enjoyed the CTT spread on Pete V.'s layout in the latest issue. Thumbs UpThumbs Up Learned yesterday that he and our current club president flew together in the Navy. Bow

Anybody having a problem trying to check the "Modern" inventories at Trainz dot com. I keep getting a "server error message check back later", been going on for quite a while now. E-mailed Trainz and got no response yet. Grumpy

Procrastinated enuff, got more stuff to do.

P.S._The site was indeed very slow last nite, was going to check in but after waiting for it to load I gave up and went to bed. Must be all those solar panels producing energy after sundown. Wink

Oh my, it is snowing like crazy here in this middle part of Ohio - where they seem not to have heard of the Internet or cell service. Well, at least this truck stop looks like it might work. Did pace a long CSX freight out of Gary, Indiana. John,  your house sounds nice. my folks house had cedar siding - it was not only expensive, the woodpeckers loved it! LOL.

RT,

I've had good and bad come from them regardless of what I bought.  My Flyer SIT 312 came from them, and it is in great shape.  I was going to return this 624, but I didn't want any of the hassle that I've read about.  I first saw this on ebay this past Sunday night, and I decided to sleep on it.  Looked again before work Monday morning and had myself talked out of it (you know where this is going).  I couldn't quit thinking about it all morning so I sacrificed my lunch and made the 15 minute drive home on break to get it.  I've started a thread.  I should've had lunch.

So tired of the nasty weather. Dusting of snow this evening on the way home.  I am so so ready for warm weather. If the weather keeps up as it is going we might need snowshoes for the York Meet.  March can't get out of here soon enough.  Plenty of strange stuff going on.

Long day/night again at work so we all met at 8:30 at Applebees for a late dinner (thanks to SJ for that). Nice to finally have CTT running at normal speed for a change.

Joe - I've been going to the Stadium since 1973 and the past 4 years more than normal, since the kids got me a partial season ticket plan for Christmas back in 2007. Since then we've been renewing it and three of us go at least 12 time a year. The best way to describe the new Stadium is this, I've never been to a place where there are 50,000 people and it's not crowded.

Brutus - Good news seems to be coming your way! You deserve it. Good luck with your wife getting back to work and congrats to your new niece!

Fifedog - Don't get down on yourself. I'm not doing as well as I wanted, no excuse but with working 11 hours a day when I get home I just want to chill out on this thing in front of me and listen to some tunes and maybe play a game or two.

Jim - I'm like RT and SJ. When I see something is from that seller I look long and hard at the item and I almost always say no thanks. But good luck with the rebuild.

That's all folk!

Howdy guys - talked to my Dad tonight.  He's doing the bachelor thing while Mom is helping with the baby in Des Moines.  He had PT today on his knee and is doing really well.  I'll go over Saturday and make him some good food, or pick up something good for him.  Not fast food, but a nice meal.

Char is doing well at work, although she is a little tired at the end of the day.  She's been working 5 hours each day for 4 days this week.  Next week, I think she will be on 4 hours a day for 5 days?  She found most of her stuff, except for her old chair Smile

Finally got caught up on Fringe - what a great show.  Glad that it has been renewed for another year.

Bon Voyage, Doug!

TARDIS is ready, so let's go!

Good morning all,

It is cloudy in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s.  Long day at work yesterday.  Only hour of soccer last night.  Had a second showing on house.  Oldest daughter was down yesterday to help wife with "stuff".  Be interesting to see what is new in Lionel catalog.  Quick post as I overslept this morning.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL anytime and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning,

42 and drizzling, forecast of snow for tomorrow. I hope that it is the weatherman's April fools joke.

SPMan, Ray, I complained to myself this morning when I paid $3.29 a gallon and they pumped it. I should count my blessings.

Doug, I guess that I have been lucky that Woody Woodpecker has not visited my siding yet.

G97Probe, Jim, hang in on the job. Keep positive. Bummer on the 624.

Brutus, Jim, Good news on your Dad and Char. They are both on my thoughts and parayers.

AF53, Ray, Is there some insignificient activity in the Bronx today?

Mike C, I had a delicous aple turnover on the dining car this morning. Thanks for sending it.

I just heard on the radio that radiation is showing up in the milk on the West Coast. Not good.

Tonight, I meet with the financial planner with my plan for retirement. When we met a couple of weeks ago he was very optimistic about it.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Mornin' boys.  Still cold & Storm.  Did stop down the boatyard to hand in this year's slip fee.  Really wanted to splash-down this weekend, but will have to wait.

Mitchie -    IdeaI think you and I should go SPEEDO shopping together t Hagerstown...lets get our minds off this inclement weather.

dougnotta- That Mac-26 is a foot shorter than my Hunter, but it is a trailer-sailor, which means you have to flood the reservoir tanks for ballast (a possible cause).  There are pics taken by a concerned passing boater, which shows the actual boat listing badly... Wifey couldn't believe they had 10 people crammed in that cockpit.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Overcast & Ominous-Looking Taxachusetts,

I am looking at the weather forecast like LAZ is, with a positive slant.  A powerful  "Noreaster" is on tap for the next 24 hours with accompanying high winds, rain, and snow.  Forecast closest to me is for mostly rain but with a couple of inches of the white stuff near the coast, but a 6"-12" coating of very heavy white stuff just West and North of me, starting tonight.....with possible power outages.  This should be it for the 2010-2011 Winter.

The meteorologists' Winter storm warnings this morning continue to totally dominate the news....after already barraging us (picture military carpetbombing) about the impending storm constantly over the past three days.   3 separate weather segments alone during the 11PM news last night.  Who wants that much weather coverage?  Who needs that much weather coverage?  Just give me the Cliff's Notes version, then get on with the real (bad) news.

Isn't this New England?  Isn't this comparable to a Florida meteorologist excitingly carrying on about another day of sunshine.  "Yes, we get snow here in New England as late as April.... but your point is?"  This stuff is NOT news, at least to those of us that live in the Northeast.

The local news this morning also ran a segment about serious vitamin D deficiencies in Americans, that 30% of us have this deficiency.  The reporter went on say "experts" recommend we get out in the sun more often!!!!  Wonder what the oncologists have to say about this revelation and advice since the reporter made no mention of melanoma and sunscreen.  Let's see, osteoporosis versus melanoma.  What should I do?

In the news media's defense, I suppose they must have run out of news because nothing else of import is going on internationally, nationally, or locally at this moment that just might supercede this segment in importance, except the (Zzz) New England snowstorm.  Whistling  The network had some time gaps to fill.  Cleverly, they dust off a previous story on the dangers of sun exposure and then drone on in the exact opposite direction to shock us.  "What?!?  I need to get out in the sun more?  I thought they have been hammering us about the dangers of.......I've got to warn my wife about this!"

The BBC does not cover news events in this superficial, repetitive ad nauseum, senasationalized fashion.

I am going to run out now, gas up the cars, fill up the gas can (for the snowblower), and stock up with 3 months of provisions (classic NE reaction) just in case this snow keeps me housebound for three hours or a six pack of beer, whichever is longer.  Smile, Wink & Grin

There, I feel better.  SoapBox

Later, gang.

Jack

PS:  The newsmen just informed us that the Taxachusetts cities and town' (politicians') snow budgets are deep in the red, funded up front for just half of our annual average snowfall.  Another news shocker!!!! Bang Head

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.

Aloha from deep inside Ohio where there's white stuff on the ground and more in the forecast - along with rain. The youngest is swimming whilst I keep an eye on him. After checkout, we're off to take the college girl to Wal-Mart then pick up the teen after his classes - maybe get a tour then head back. I had fun taking 8 collegians out to dinner last night. Even more fun was the bill was less than when the bride and I go out at home. Whoa, as they say around here.Yes

I'm staying in the Chessie GP30 room... at least that's how it's decorated Big Smile

Jack, I seldom watch TV news anymore just for that reason...
