Sad about Navy Jack, I read it first on the other thread, Thanks RT for finding out and letting us know.
Did Buckeye have another BIRTHDAY? I thought he quit having birthdays a couple of years back.
It was a beautiful day here today, set a record for the 18th of March, 77 degrees.
Got another Lionel Corp. (tinplate) catalog in the mail today. Some beautiful stuff in it, but quite expensive.
Since York is coming up in less than a month, I was wondering, has anyone started a York topic yet. Would like to know who will be coming in April from the forum. If a thread was started it most be pretty old as I have not found it.
Loosing Navyjack (J Virgin) was a real shock.
I think I knew him as well as anyone. He was a quadriplegic, unable to to move except for one arm moved some. We sent him several of our sheepskin bed pads to make him more comfortable. In return, GiGie sent us some of her great breads and pastries.
Something you may not know, he ran a toy train store, but he ask me not to tell anyone, so I didn't. He kept trying to get someone to build him a small layout next to his bed so he could have someone run some of him MANY trains, but no one ever did. I wish I lived closer to him.
I will miss him greatly.

Good evening guys. Been a long week and still looks like a long weekend. Today was spent going on a field trip with my son's 3rd grade class to a "Wild Animal Park". We took our whole family and it was a lot of fun, but made for a long day. I was saddened to read RT's thread on NavyJack. Along with his cordial demeanor here, his service to this country speaks volumes to his character.
God Bless each of you and your families tonight.Dennis

Hi GUYZ,
Ran trains tonite for 2hrs. One ninor mishap, a TTUX car lost its rear truck had me in a minor panic, had to put the Ol Mil down find the Legacy unit to stop engine. WOW excitment in the lAND O laz! Took car off of tracks will put lock tight on tomorrow. Can't have this stuff happening on a Friday nite.
Stay frosty,
laz57
PAT,
Yes NAVYJACK was a Quadrapelegic and yes if I lived closer I would have built a small layout for him. I had thought of this when he was stating how much he wanted a layout. I even thought about sending him a engine and a few car with some track, wish I did now. Thanks PAT for relaying this info.
I gave my MTH NORFOLK SOUTHERN F 3s and full blast all through the layout for NAVYJACK.
Joe - So far my bracket is doing good. Good for a tie for 2nd place out of 17. But as we all know it could all come crumbling down at any time.
SJ - Starting to sound like yourself again, one day at a time, one day at a time.
NavyJack - I blew my Flyer steam whistle for you and I know you heard it. I had to explain to my wife and son as to why it blew longer than normal. My son thought that it was nice, he's 23 and gets it if you know what I mean, the wife wanted to get back to sleep as I woke her up, my bad (but still thought it was nice).
To Everyone - There's been alot of comments made the past month or so, with what Mike went through with his dad, Jim with his wife and SJ, and I agree that this is like an extended family as we share our lives with one another. We may be miles apart but somehow that doesn't seem to matter when we need support for something we might be going through and that's a good thing. It's all too often we regret not saying or doing something for someone before it's too late. I just want to thank you guys for being there and being able to past some time with.

Wife is out of town with the kids for basically one day - so maybe I can throw some track down on the floor and have some fun :)
Went to a friends' house for supper tonight and now just chilling out with Chewy and a movie, talking to Da Guys.
Tardis is ready and Old Mills are on hand, so let's go men!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evenin' Boyz & Gurlz.
RIP Jack, thoughts and prayers for the family.
No museum today, grampa made Bacon Waffles for the munchkin then we spent the day at the "Wild Animal Park". Lots of walking so the old geezer is pretty pooped tonite.

AF53 - sorry, posted over you I guess. I agree - the coffee pot especially, but really this whole forum, is full of a lot of great guys and it's like a big extended family. God bless us all.
laz - NTSB asked me to tell you, in the future do NOT move anything from an accident until they can get an investigator on site. You're still in the running for the Harriman Award.
Headed to Steelton, PA this morning for a trainshow.
Morning all
Got to go to Columbus for a meeting today. Bleh. I would rather stay home with the bride and kids.
You guys take care today
May God bless
Jim
Good Morning from the Jersey Shore,
Beautiful Day, sunny, 48 going to the 70's.
Today it is do the brakes, service the engine, grease the fittings, reassemble, install and adjust the mower deck on the John Deere lawn tractor.
I agree with all of you about how eventhough most of us have never met in person, we have developed a bond of friendship as we all displayed with the passing of NavyJack. I am proud to be part of this and I hope to meet with everyone one day.
Waffles and bacon in the dinning car.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.
Everyone, Enjoy the Day,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 44 degrees. Going up to 52 today with sunshine all day.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of chores to do and some extra stuff, as the wife is not home. I will find time to relax, later.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
It is the same here as it is in CHUCKs part of the globe. WOW saw the SUPERMOON last nite really BIG.
Well said RAY!!!!
FIFE, I should know better. Have fun in STEELTON. Wish I could go, but we are going to GUN SHOW at the Harrisburg Farm Show building. Have fun BUDDY.
Good Morning
32/49 today with sun
My train buddy Andy was here yesterday, and Charlie stopped by so the locals are keeping an eye on me. I ran a train for Andy so the rails are staying shining. Yes this is a great group of guy's and I get angry when someone comes in and tries to trash us without staying long enough to understand how we become friends. Enjoy your weekend...S.J.
Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
Yea, I just finished Dec. CTT, good issue. Now I only have 6 CTT & OGR to go. Not counting TCA. whew.
Sunny and 49 and going to mid 50's at exit 77 on the GSP! (John, me think you went too high with the 70's estimate)
Cleanup day today while also hooking up the new digital adapters to three of our TV's (what ever happened to rabbit ears???) #1 daughter coming over to spend the day as she always does on Saturdays.
Update on my Husky Sable. Turns out her tumor is a Basal Cell Tumor and she goes in Thur to have it removed. They will then send that out for a diagnosis. Didn't think that would have been necessary since the sample was already done Tue. Sometimes you feel they just like to hike up the bill . But what do I know, I'm not the vet!
Opening day is just 12 day's away! Our first game this year is Monday night April 4th. Can't wait.
Fifedog - Buying a new scale today as ours is unreliable, updates to follow.
March Madness Awaits!
Good afternoon all,
I had no time to get online last night since we had a family movie night. We watched Nanny McPhee Returns. It was a good movie. I never saw the first one but I suspect it was just as good. The most important part was the kids enjoyed it. After the movie I watched some tournament action before falling asleep.
The high for today is 59 and it is raining right now. We may get some thunderstorms later on. This should make for a nice day to spend inside. However, we have some chores to take care of first, and I need to check the wiring on a couple of the houses on the layout. The wife is grocery shopping right now and later on she and the princess will go to the nail salon. I will catch up on the tournament later.
AF Ray - After yesterday's games my bracket is now very pitiful. I have no chance at winning, but at least my team (Duke) has a chance to win it all. There were some nice upsets as well. Also, I hope all goes well with your Husky.
SJ - It's good to hear you are improving and having fun with the trains and fellas.
Good day,
Joe
Good afternoon,
Spent some time doing Spring Garden work this morning, pruned 15 rose bushes and a pair of butterfly bushes. Resting the tired muscles now, always get stiff doing this stuff in the spring.
Weather not to bad, in mid 50s when I was out, but a pretty good breeze blowing.
Fife, Hope you find some good deals at the show in Steelton. I have never been to that show, even thought I belong to the sponsoring club.
Laz, Didn't know there was a gun show today. My son usually lets me know when they happen, but I think he is busy cleaning things up around the farm.
All have a good weekend.
Ray starting to sound good on the Husky please keep us posted.
well did another section for the shelf/ceiling standard Gauge train layout but its a lot harder than I was thinking it would be forgetting some how I have to balance a 8' board while trying to hold the screw and the drill with screw bit in it to fasten it to the wall. . wife is not any help as she can't do things like this at all. And now it looks like its going to rain so can't do anymore cutting of Wood as the only decent area I can cut wood is off the tail gate of the truck lol.
Think I'm going to take some of that indoor/outdoor carpet I have and either use hot glue it or staples from my staple gun but will have to set up compressor for that but still might be best idea yet to add it to the boards to give it a grass look. We'll see .
not much else going on i do hope it does rain thou as we can use some more right now to help the plants grow some more.
hope all had a good Saturday. Went to Lowe's earlier and they had this windmill the wife wanted for the garden about 4' tall was like $58.00 well they had it on sale for less than $40.00 so we saved like $18.00 on it and the wife wanted the last time so couldn't resist. Always need to make them happy that way you get to buy more train things
Well will talk to you all later. still in shock over NJ but at least he's not suffering any more. May he rest in peace.
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

Just read the news about NavyJack. We exchanged a number of emails and talked a few times on the phone. I wouldn't say I knew him well but we swapped Navy stories like we had known each other for years. I was always fun to see and share his enthusiasm here on the forum. He will be greatly missed and prayers go out to his family.
I had an interesting week off, and am now back at work. The new trainee quit after his last training shift so I am now training someone else. He is a friend of mine and excited about the job.
Chief - nice work on the deck and boy is Finn getting big!
Brutus - great news that Char may soon be able to return to work!
SJ - glad to hear you are on the mend
Hope everyone has a good weekend

IIASBSDISEI with temps in the 50s. Spent Friday night and most of the day Saturday with my sister going thru stuff. It is interesting what you find. Found a painting of my mom and dad on their wedding day rolled up in foot locker. Took dad's vehicles to dealers to see what they might bring. Cleared out more areas of items.
They're BAAAAACCCCKKKK! Butler beats another "No. 1" team to go to Sweet 16. Chief and Duke, be afraid. Be very afraid. The way the pairings are set up, Duke and Butler would not meet again until the final game (if Duke makes it that far....)
I had bacon and pancakes for breakfast on the dining car. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
AF53, your thoughts earlier about the pot were perfect.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Well, a storm just rolled in after I told RT we didn't have any bad weather today Guess that's just the way it goes!
Went to Charter today, but the local shop was closed. Went to Best Buy and used $10 in reward dollars to help pay for a new cable modem. This one is the fastest one they have. Apparently when we upgraded speeds years ago they never told us that the old modem they were renting to us was limited below that speed? I noticed a big improvement on direction connection. Not as much on wireless, but of course that is limited by the router at 54mbps? So I was probably near the top speed on that anyway. Also picked up a floor protector for an office chair and some new el-cheapo headphones for my mp3 player.
Chewy and I are on day two of our Pizza crazy bachelor (but she's a girl?) weekend. Today it was black olives with tomatoes and green peppers. Not sure how much salt in those olives though, maybe have to get something different next time. Need to start tracking my BP I guess to see how well I am doing.
Watching Let Me In - which scared Chewy! Nice chat with RT
Tardis is ready and Pat or Mike can drive, I lost track of who's turn it is
40s today but sun
The house is quiet now. Our little family of 14 souls celebrated granny's birthday. So I am full of pizza and cupcake and banilla. No loop-D-loops tonite unless the Tardis has a barf bag aboard. But the beacon is humming...S.J.
I am also saddened to hear of Jack's passing. I've never exchanged emaisl or talked to him on the phone, but I really feel like I knew him well because of what we have here.
Brent,
Did you call my cell earlier today? I got a call from a number that I didn't recognize, and I didn't pick up.
I bought some shelves and a small cabinet today so I can store some of my impulse buys and get the PW Lionel layout running again. I keep asking myself why I need nine 3656 stockyards, but I can't come up with an answer.
I also picked up an orange 3562-75 barrel car today. I was looking at my other 3562s last night, and I decided to get the orange variation to complete the set. I couldn't find a reasonable one online, but I remembered seeing one at Toy Town in Berlin, MD last summer so I gave Rich and Debbie a call. Suprisingly, it was still there and will be on it's way here Monday. I've dealt with Rich and Debbie several times in person and this time on the phone, and I can't say enough good about them. Great people with a store that I could spend my entire week of vacation in and not want to leave.
Good evening all,
We had thunderstorms this afternoon and they produced quite the hailstorm as well. The boys and I had the garage door open while doing some layout work when the storms started. The hail wasn't too big - last summer we had baseball size hail once. I finished some buildings before we went to dinner and then after dinner I fixed a wiring issue for two buildings and then wired two houses on the layout. It is coming along nicely and I am learning new tricks along the way.
The wife made chocolate chocolate-chip ice cream tonight which I will enjoy tomorrow while watching the tournament. I caught glimpses of a couple of the games today and just watched the end of the Wisconsin-Kansas State game.
Mike C. - Butler beating Pitt is not a big surprise to me. Pitt was knocked out of the Big East tournament early as well. They struggle with big time games. I believe a Duke-Butler final is unlikely as well; however, not because Duke won't be in it .
Good night,
It is a cloudy 42 degrees. Going up to 56 today with some sunshine.
Today is an easy day. Wife is due home around noon. I have a few chores this morning. Then, I can relax the rest of the day. Nascar race from Bristol.
Dining car is here with the usual breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
