Good Morning Blue

32/40 today. Rain later and into tomorrow,

Granny's going to be at church until late afternoon, vote for a new pastor is the agenda. I would be quite surprised if he is not voted in as he is well liked by most. As for my day, hmm not sure yet..S.J.

Hi GUYZ,

35 and not too bad here.  Went to Allentown Meet yesterday, WOW about 5000+ in attendance was a nice day.  Got to pick up 2 Lionel HB HUNT trailers on flat cars with the blinking ETD on last car for 60 bucks and found a C&O trailer on flat car w/o box for 20 bucks.  Tried to purchase a Tippi foam cutter but guy sold out, he will mail me one on Tuesday.  I got that for 60 bucks delivered.  We went to our favorite place to eat afterwards then rode home the next 1.5 hrs.  Got home and ran trains for the boyz for 1.5 hrs NO PILE UPs GREAT DAY.

Stay frosty,

Oh yea one more thing about the Allentown show I did see the new release of the WBB Norfolk Southern F3s there.  Very nice looking engines was being sold for 250 bucks only the A units.  The B units werent there yet.

Morning to All,

LAZ - Sounds like Allentown was a good show and you got some real bargains. I thought about going but a little too far from G'burg.

Very lazy day yesterday. Did nothing of importance, in fact I never left the house other than to get the newspaper from the box.  Napped a little, listened to the Grand Ole Opry last night via their iPhone app which is pretty neat.  Our cable TV package doesn't carry the Opry Live any more.

Had some homemade waffles and Canadian bacon for breakfast, which is something a little different for us.  Going to settle in and watch the NASCAR race from Phoenix in a little while.  Have to fix myself some lunch before the race starts, not sure what I'll have. Maybe some soup for dinner.

Take care,

Mitch

Morning or afternoon all depending on which coast one resides!

Spent yesterday in the chair in front of TV. Picked up a bug from the trip I guess. Better today although not top notch. So I will spend today in the chair again! Life is tough.

Watched the NASCAR Nationwide race (boring). Hope today's race is much better. My wife is really starting to enoy NASCAR races - she says they are the best naps ever!

Temps to hit 70 today and then possible T-Storms this afternoon and temps fall a little - then back up Monday.

Hope everyone has a great day today!

Regards, Roy

RT, I think WBB has forgotten what made them competitive in the first place.  They still make a good simple product but they can't go head to head with the big guys without a lot more bells and whistles I would think.

Laz, wow! that was a good price on those Southern F3 units.  Was that the executive set or the regular Southern?  Sounds like there is a lot of margin on these if a dealer can sell for $250.

Ray

 SPMan:

Good afternoon all, had a pretty healthy rain storm last night.  We got around 2 inches at least.  Had to pump some out of the pool this morning.  Snow level coming down to 1000 ft they say tonight.  Maybe I will see some in the foothills above us if it does.

Been fighting a losing battle with my bad order ACL MTH E6 A-B-A engines.  Tried everything you can think of.  I have about 800 bucks into this thing and it is about 7 years old.  Not really crazy about putting another 200-300 in it and still have no guarantee it won't crap out again.  Mean time I have put my Williams E7 ACL AA units back in service.  They run just great with a tru blast horn and headlight.  That;s all I need.  Still run my ACL MTH F3 A-B-A as an alternate too.

Was looking at the prices of the new WBB catalog.  I like the Norfolk Southern Executive engines but my Lord!  They want around $500 including a B unit.  That's just for a basic engine with horn and bell.  MTH had one for around the same money with all the bells and whistles.  What gives?

I saw a FEC E6 with the same problem as mine sell on the bay for around $250.  That's a give away price but that's probably all you could get for an engine that needs repair.

Got to get my left leg checked out next week.  Had a hard time walking today at train meet.  Train meet was TCA Western Div. in Arcadia.  Light attendance on account of the weather I suppose.  Did not win any door prizes---again.  Someone showed off a new Lionel modern diesel engine lettered for the Boy Scouts of America 100th anniversary.  The Union Pacific has the real one.

Same stuff on tables I have seen for the last umpteen meets.  Those trains have spent more time traveling to and from meets than they have on the track.  Spent most of my time at the meet talking with a few old friends.

later,

Ray

Ray I was saying that would happen back when K-line was bought by Bachmann. it has been jumping in price every catalog since it started. Just befor it was bought you could buy the the girls steam frieght set for like $299- $350 its now over $600

in fact I got my Tidewater Express ( Virginian set )for like $200.00 they now list it at $429.95 and that was just befor they took over got it from a hobby shop which was about the same price if I got it thru the club K-line had when you got like 20% off

Brutus and I were talking about it last night on chat you can buy lionel classic for about the same price as what the williams are now .

RAY,

The NS F3 by WBB were the Executive Set.  Nice set in conventional.  The thing I like on them are the silver vents on the side of the units.  Like the real thing.

Good evening all,

It is a partly cloudy but mild day in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s.  Picked up sticks in the yard and washed the PT Cruiser.  Took inventory of items in dad's tong box.  Mom had her tax returns from 1948 in there.  Don't think they will be audited :-)   Wife will be spending night in front of tbe watching Oscars.  I had cinnamon rolls for breakfast this morning.  TBIL and I can drive again.  Back to work tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,

We went to the World's Greatest Hobby on Tour in Edison today. It was packed. We got there early and by the time we left, I never saw the Expo Center that jammed. The vendor's were complaining that they were not selling anything. Most of their prices were out of this world. My son and I enjoyed our selves. He picked up a few police cars to add to his collection. He is 18 now and he has been doing this since he was about 6. He wants to be a NJ State Trooper and he is planning his education and life to hopefully become one.

Fife, I finally got the address of the new Office Depot. It is 815 Pratt Street. My wife and her plan to go to the Inner Harbor. Are there any good places to stay closer to there? They want to sight see and shop. Fife, is your wife into the Longaberger Baskets also? The problem here is that a friend of my wife sells them and my wife has a hard time saying NO. She has not seen her friend lately and the baskets stopped. Nice but expensive.

Navy Jack and I had some great conversations this weekend. We both like the S1 & S2 electrics.

AF53, Ray, another package was delivered here.

Thoughts and Prayers to all in need

John

Hudson - There are several 4star hotels right around the Inner Harbor, but you will pay out the wah-zoobie.  Harbor Place is a trendy mall, but serious shopping should be done at Towson Towne Center.  Also, nice shopping and restaurants up in Hunt Valley.  For spectacular meals, try the Rusty Scupper, and Fogo de Choa, both at the Inner Harbor area.

Good evening everyone.  It has been a long few days and now I can finally get on here.  On Friday, I got a nice new camera lens that will allow me to take some good shots from a helicopter on our tour of the Grand Canyon.  The daytime temps have been in the low 80s here and blue sky.  Saturday, wife and I took the kids to the Planetarium and the local history museum.  Was a full day of it and we had plenty of fun.  After morning church, took family out to the local zoo and play park for a picnic.  Just one of those great weekends.  After tonight's church service, came home and relaxed with a little dinner and fun with the family.  Time for bed.  Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Evenin' All.

Well we didn't get any snow here, close but no cigar as they say. Did have a good deal of rain that ended and cleared about midnite, followed by some ice on most everything this morning.

Looks like Shutterfly is having some issues today, can't bring it up in my browser and SPF has some red x's for Shutterfly users.

Fife, With a name like "Rusty Scupper" the last thing I would think of is food. Blindfold

The better half and I are still battling this crud, it just does not want to go away. Bang Head

Had a nice talk with RT today on the phone and man he sent me some pics of his pineapple upside down cake that look great Smile  Hope they get your appointments rescheduled, man!

Just did laundry today and goofed off.  Helped daughter cook some fried chicken.  She is learning, although I think she would rather be doing something else!  Each kid now knows how to cook one meal.  Next, we will start on another meal and then maybe some deserts or something.  Basic skills Smile

TARDIS is ready and I can drive.  Can't wait to get some of that banilla tonight!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Buckeye Riveter

What is all that blathering racket from Roseyville this morning?  Here in Buckeyeland where the birds are singing we don't want to hear all that noise from his HONOR.

Is there a way to set a default font on the forum?

Wish those Buckeye folks would get their "geo" right.  I wasn't in Roseyville but Concord NC. Whistling

Finally home and got things settled.  Popcorn and TV now.

We've seen just about all types of weather here this weekend - everything from 4" of snow and temps in the 20's to 60's and thunderstorms today.

Home care nurse and therpast have stopped by to see my wife.  She is proceeding nicely, though the PT is painful.  Fife - where can I get some handcuffs?  She keeps forgetting to use her walker.  I've threatened ot cuff it to her.

Nothing new with the trains.

All for now.

Good morning all,

It is windy in SE Indiana (Chief and Buckeye must be talking).  Wife watched the Oscars last night.  I see where Jeff Gordon finally won again.  I had the regular fare plus a cinnamon roll on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning to All,

Loved the NASCAR race - #24 Jeff Gordon was fast when it counted.  Hope it's not 66 more races until he gets to Victory Lane again.

The Mrs. watched the Oscars. Not sure why, but i stayed up too.  I'll pay for it later this afternoon when I am dragging.

Better get going. Take care.

Mornin' boys.  Apparently Lightning all day here in the Mid-Atlantic region.

8ntruck - S&W makes quality handcuffs.

dougnotta - Rusty Scupper ain't exactly the Horn & Horn.  Best dining view of the Inner Harbor.  And they accept all major credit cards.

Mitchie - Funny how things have changed for JG in a decade.  He was truly amazed and touched by the cheering grandstand.  Seems like yesterday fans were chucking beercans at his windshield during his victory laps.

Low 30s all day

We got rain last night instead of snow. February"s snow fall was the 2nd highest amount of ANY month since records were kept. That's one record I coulda done without. Breakfast of eggs, hash, browns and toast, no lunch today...S.J.
