It's cold and clear here today. About 25 degrees outside right now. Got setup early and just waiting for the source to rise above the trees.

Will try and finish up a tube radio I want to use in the garage today and maybe tinker w/ that Simpson meter some more. The multi-switches are causing some issues. Unsoldering and resoldering them is a real act of patience.

The NW-2 arrived a few days ago so it will be there when I get back. Looking forward to that.

Hope everyone has a good day

Mornin' boys.  Pass the cheese and Iron City please.  Must be a jubilant gang up in Waukesha this AM.  Let me know if I'm typing too loud.  I love D-fence, so it should be a dandy game in 2 weeks.  Pick the "under 30".  Actually, from a trains perspective, this is a cool match-up.  Kalmbach from the sunshine state of Wisconsin, and Pittsburgh is my favorite big city to railfan at.  It's all good.

laz - That is one lucky dog.

sir james - on more than one occasion, I'd come home from work and turn the tv on, and there's Animal Planet on the screen.  Lassie would just lift his head, as if to say, "Whaaaaat..."

dwiemer - I worked the country-side for a dozen years, and the local VFD (green engines) "adopted" me, and I "deputized" them.  Their firehouse was often my substation.  It was the best relationship.

Good night.  TIRED.  Reclinerized while watching TV.  Not too cold here.  Windy.  They say mainly rain event coming and snow west of Triangle.  Sending it up north to yuz giz.

LAZ, Finn was here licking my screen at certain photos. Surprise Wink

Guy coming tomorrow to do some work on the walkin closet andgun safe.  Distributed china to Cathy and Frankie [Mom had three sets and we already have three ourselves].  We took all the silver and chrystal [probably store as we have our own].  Some antique pieces we'll display.  Took gun safe to Frankie.  Then came home and cleaned out that half of the office.  Guns moved, ammo boxed up and moved and same with cleaning supplies.  Pam had enough books to start a library.  Everything in "disaray" until closet is finished.

Off to bed.  Sleep tight.

Evening All,

Everyone must be out celebrating!  Congrats to Steeler and Pack fans!  It should be a great game!  Ended up working this weekend, kinda a Oh Hum affair.  It was a bit interesting today though, we are having some Santa Ana wind conditions, and early morning the winds were gusty and significant.  A lot of the other vendors packed up and left, (most likely wanted to watch the games, and it was more of a guise to leave as a result of the wind.  Ended up being a pleasant day.  Temps in the low 70's, came home this evening watered the yard, had a glass of wine, and now just kicking back.

Going to be doing some detailed planning for the wiring on a layout.  Should be pretty much straight forward.  Think I'm going to plan it to accommodate TMCC as well as DCS and conventional.  Need to install some led's to signal train presence in "blind area".

Tomorrow get the window fixed in the Buick, and see what else goes bad.

Great dog Laz,

Continued prayers for Mike C, and Jim's families.!!

Later !

Hi GUYZ,

Tanks for the CONGAS on MINNIE.  We went for a 1.5 mile walk this morning with NO PROBLEMS.  She went willingly and was off to the races.  All is well.  Even a massive dump was well received.  Way to go MINNIE!  Here are some pics of last nite and this morning.  I am a proud DADDY.  She will be spoiled too.

Good evening all,

Church in the morning and football in the afternoon - that's a pretty good day.  Both games were exciting, but the Steelers almost let it slip away.  They better play four quarters against the Packers or they'll be going home without the trophy.

I added a bridge I built to the layout and ran the trains for about 20 minutes between the games.  That was the only train action for today.  It's time for bed now.

Laz - She is a nice looking puppy.  If our kids weren't allergic we would have one too.

88 - Thanks for the interesting factoids.

Good night,

Joe

Laz  -Conga on Minnie! She's really cute.

Well The SuperBowl is set... The Pack vs The Steelers. Just some fun facts... this is The Steelers' 77th Season, IF they win The SuperBowl it would come during Big Ben's (wears #7) 7th season and would be Pittsburgh's 7th SuperBowl victory. Now I think I'll go drink a 7 & 7!

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 20s.  RockIsland52, glad to hear you enjoyed the game.  Man U is one of the better teams.  Dad had lots of visitors today, perhaps too many as I felt like a traffic cop at times.  Some had come quite a distance so we had to let them in.  Made some arrangements for the service when it occurs.  Have to do that stuff now while we have a semi-clear head.  He was drinking some root beer and it appeared to be staying down.  I may be coming down with a cold or sore throat which is the last thing I need.  Been resting and drinking lots of fluids.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning for breakfast.  TBIL anytime this week.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello all

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. Thanks for the comments on the photo. That camera does some neat things w/ the sun. Something about the lens.

Laz - nice looking pup!

RIJack - I just got an NW-2 myself. It's a Williams UP version. I like those Navy versions too. The same folks that make the Beeps make a caboose that will go with it. You, navyjack, and I will have to get together some time to run them all.

Chief - I may very well take you up on that offer some day.

Getting to the end of the shift and I set up the N-gauge again. Here's a photo of the current operations of the Mt. Graham and Arizona Eastern. There's an interesting water tower here....

Good afternoon everyone.  Full day of it with church this morning, Mexican food for lunch and came home to watch a documentary on War Photography....a humbling experience.  Getting ready to head back to church.

Laz, she sure is a pretty dog.  Good luck with her and many years of complete love.

Chief, sounds like a whole lot of history there.  I would suggest contacting a local museum to gather information on preserving those items.  Archival paper and matting will help.

Fife, have a lot of friends in blue....lot of respect for them.  While the city used to drive a wedge between departments, we still managed to work well together.  Since I have been gone, and many of the folks I worked with retired, I still have managed to make some friends with PD here in Georgia and they are some good folk.  I think there is more problems between such agencies as Sheriff/PD, County/City agencies, etc.

Well, visited with some great friends yesterday.  Going to get back to shooting...they have a new range out to 500yds.  While it is not as long as we used to shoot, it is certainly longer than I have shot in some time.  I have a bunch of weapons that have never been fired, so it will be fun to break them out and work up some loads.

Hope to check in soon.  Hope each of you have a blessed week ahead.
Dennis

I got my local forecasts off by a day.  It only got down to 5 last night, back up to mid 20s now.  Tonight will be the minus degrees one, coldest in six years.  Big snow event forecast for this coming Wednesday.  We'll see.

Laz......keep those pit stops outdoors with Minnie short, repeat if necessary.  Pups' cold tolerance is poor until they get older, and the temps have been pretty low.  You seem to have the housebreaking drill down pretty good!!!.  And those immediate treats reinforce the what, when, and where.  In my case the housebreaking went pretty quickly with Maximus, started at three months like you.  Except now he knows that if he bangs on the back door, allegedly to go outside out of necessity, he gets a cookie if he just goes through the motions and lifts his leg briefly.  He also bangs on the back door when he is bored and wants to go outside to check things out, or he wants to remind us that it is chow time even if it isn't.  He has us trained pretty good.  Another upside.....our pup bangs on the back door if he feels like he has to regurgitate........pretty handy move unless one enjoys the cleanups.  I never could understand indoor paper training a puppy........unless it is a backup or one can't keep up with the outdoor approach initially.

NavyJack......the Lionel NW2 engine in Navy trim I got for my birthday from my son had me thinking of you.  Now I read that you have an NW2 as well.  Smile, Wink & Grin  There is only a single motor in my 65-00637.  But the other truck has the axle gearset and a second pickup for a second, as well as what appears the mounting configuration for a secong unit..

Gearing up for the football games.........Bears/Steelers Super bowl in my dreams. Thumbs Up

Later, gang.  Prayers.  You know who you are and are probably tired of my posts in this regard.

Mornin' boys.  19 degrees outside. Denver has the same temp.  I don't want to live in Denver.  Nephews came over and we ran trains for a couple of hours, then some track and electrical gremlins showed up.  Played cards with the neighbors last night.  Lots of rum = crashed on couch.  Need to work up the energy to change oil in Chevy today.  If I had temps in the 50's would break out the Hawaiian shirt and Tommy Bahamas...Sigh

Good morning all,

I haven't checked the weather yet today, but it doesn't look too cold.  We have church this morning and then some football to watch this afternoon.  I have no preferred winner in the NFC and will be content with either one of those teams winning.  However, I want the Steelers to pound the JETS just to shut up Rex Ryan's mouth.

I had chocolate chip scones for breakfast.  The wife actually made them yesterday morning, but they are just as delicious today.  I'm enjoying coffee with them.

Have a good day,

Joe

Hi GUYZ,

Well picked up MINNIE and what a GREAT PUPPY.  Took her from YORK where she was living with 7 other rescue dogs, 2 of which were a brother and sister.  I wish I could have took them too.  Went to That Pet Place in Lancaster where they allow dogs in store and she doesn't know yet how to walk on lesh so put her in cart.  Spoiling her right off, but she was the Belle of the Ball.  Everyone wanted to pet her and fuss over her.  After that brought her home and still she was apprehesive about walking in yard and had to coax her with treats.  She did ok after a bit but was still scared.  Brought her into house gave her water and dogfood she ate and drank then went exploring all the rooms.  Fussed over her rest of nite and took her out at about 8 and finally she peed.  YEA!!!!  She came in and was fussed over some more and put her crate together and finally she koncked out inside her crate.  I watched Barette Jackson tll 12 then went to bed.  She wimpered a little bit when I came in but I called out her name and she finally went to sleep.  Slepted great all nite.  We got up at 6 and took her out and she went peed then she came in ran all over the house playing and having a blast.  Then she walked over to the door and she had to go.  Went out and did her poo, another big YEA!!!!.  Great training on her foster parents part!!!  Now we are about to see how a walk works out.  I will post picks of her later this afternoon.

BOB, GREAT PHOTO!!!!

JACK, It's coming so better get a flame thrower or your WIFEs hair blower to start melting that SNO HI O.

DOUG M, GO BEARS!!!
