Good morning from work in Central Jersey,
12 to 18" of snow and ice. Roads are a mess. NJ Transit buses are not running. No big problems with the electric distribution system.
What was that father thinking about the snake? I am not crazy about snakes either.
Navy Jack, you're up early.
Breakfast and then deliver the safety message to the crew.
Prayers and thoughts for all in need.
Jim, I hope that the call for the job comes today.
John
Good morning all,
It is cloudy in SE Indiana with some Snohio due in late tonight. Back to work today and hopefully a couple of "normal" days before a "semi-normal" weekend. First big race of the year as 24 Hours of Daytona is on. It is kind of an all star event as all sorts of drivers compete from various series. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL and I can drive for once. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
ray, it is a nice set thanks navyjack
Hey Y'all !
The better half has kept me hoppin' for ahwile. Why don't we _______ .(just fill in the blank)
Snakes, . Only good one is a dead one! One of the teachers that works with our daughter had a Rosey Boa in her classroom til it decided to take a bite out of her wrist. Took them quite a while to get it to release it's bite.
Trying to figure out what to take to the museum on friday, appears that it will only be two runners. Might end up going in on sunday as well, hope somebody else can make it. Got some "honey do's" scheduled for sunday.
Hope there aren't to many golfers on here. If you are please don't watch the open from Torrey Pines this weekend. With what Mother Nature is dumping on you guys wouldn't want anybody crying.
Hhmmm, some chocolate ice cream sounds good.

I have not stopped by in a while. Really busy lately, working crazy hours.
Trip to Florida a couple of weeks ago. Got through Ga. just ahead of that winter storm on the return tirp. My youngest son and his wife visited the weekend before last.
Picked up the Texas Special FT B unit and UP ACF stock car I had on order on my last visit to the LHS. Those pretty much used up the Christmas money.
Not much else.
Prayers for healing and job hunting.
Later all.
Good evening all,
Busy day today - I passed my fitness test; I wasn't too worried about since I exercise five days a week. Work kept me busy until about 1700, and then we had Bible study tonight at the church. I'm pretty tired now as this is a late night for us. I just enjoyed some pecan pie with homemade chocolate ice cream (a treat for passing the fitness test), and I am off to bed.
Prayers will be said for all those in need.
Good night all,
Joe
Ray - for your only O gauge set, it's a good one
Other Ray - prayers for healing and good results of treatment.
James T - I think you will get the job, I have a really good feeling about it.
Prayers for all our intentions here on the pot, those we all know and others that are known only to a few of us or only to one member. Prayers for healing and blessings.
Jack - Char is getting stronger. We're waiting for resuts of the biopsy done Monday. Also trying different medication as one made her sicker. Dad is holding in there, but the infection has been a real problem. Mom is working hard trying to keep him at home, but we are afraid she will get hurt and then where will they be? Jeff is hobbling around really well compared to pre-surgery. My aunt is doing great from her surgery. So, even though we have been down we are not out and things are really starting to look up for the Brutus clan and friends.
Did I tell you guys about the python? My wife's friend's daughter spent the night with a friend. The friend's Dad has a pet python that has the run of the house. Daughter said it would lay down next to the friend and sleep at night. All stretched out. Well, a call to vet revealed that this is how pythons decide if they can eat something - they measure it, because once they start they can't stop eating it or die. They sleep curled up! Anyway, the lady called the little girl's Dad and explained and he cussed her out and told her to mind her own business. He called a couple days later and said he was sorry, he checked with his vet and found out she was right - that snake had been waiting to get big enough to eat his daughter for several years. Snakes are not Dogs, they are predators!
OOPS - son just broke one of our Pampered Chef cooking stones and now he is cleaning another one.... Hope it survives!
Tardis is ready - BARK!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Yea Ray, thats them. Sure glad the chief didn't tell anybody about them..:)

Life is what happens to youWhile you're busy making other plans - John Lennon
Banks,
Sounds like I didn't miss much at the show, but I still would have liked to have been there. I ordered brushes for the 736 that I have apart from that Lionel parts guy who is there now that is just so friendly. I hated to do that, but $13 for 25 was hard to pass up. I miss Bill T. He used to be the best to get parts from when he was at the show.
Brent,
You'd think I would have learned that by now. Losing stuff like that usually happens when I am trying to be careful not to lose it. What I've also noticed is that bad things happen to the stuff that I am overly protective of, and nothing ever happens to the stuff that I could care less about (You know what I am referring to...).
Thanks all for pulling for me on this job. It is appreciated. I haven't heard anything yet though.
Dinner time at work in Central Jersey,
The official snow total so far is 4.1". Another 8-14 is predicted. Total accumulations keep going up. Right now it is a wintry mix with the heavy snow starting at 8:00 and continuing until about 6am. Roads are slick. I think that since we went years ago from a rotating light to strobe lights it seems that people are drawn to them, especially at night instead of steering away from them like they did with the rotating lights. A lot of close calls and sometimes they do make contact.
RI Jack, up until about 10 mins ago we had the same forcast as you, now it is increased.
RT, It is supposed to be a fast moving storm, but dumping a lot of snow. problem is that the roads are icy now.
ANJDEVIL, Be careful on those calls. My son is in the Fire Academy now. He quit the HS Wrestling Team. He told the coach that he has been waiting 18yrs to go to the Academy. Graduates in June, both the Academy and High School.
Everyone, Be careful in this weather. Stay home if you can.
Thoughts and prayers for all in need.
It is going to be a long night.
It is cloudy and cold in SE Indiana with temps in the 20s. Wife did give me a haircut today and I will be going back to work tomorrow. Wife took dad to oncologist today, hoping to find out answers. Start of Soapbox rant. Wife was very frustrated when she came home. Oncologist had not seen any of the charts from any of the other tests!!!! Not sure what is going on. Wife will take dad to family physician on Friday and maybe some answers will show up then. They want to do more tests and schedule more appointments, and quite frankly I do not see any purpose at this point. End of soapbox rant. Just to clear one point up, wife has been doing a lot of the heavy lifting on this matter, and my sister is helping and will be helping when she can.
I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Jack hang on your getting more of that white $4!&
Hey all does any one know how to take a video from photobucket and place it here for all to see?
Hope all in north east are prepared for this storm your getting hope its over soon.
Not a lot going on did run trains again today this time with passenger cars behind the PRR trainmaster and flats with autos on them behind the NYC PA-1
Hope all had a good day talk to you all later

Hello from Snowy Central Jersey!
Took 2 hours to get in to work today, usually 20 minutes..., 45 on the way home @ 4PM.
Looing like 6-12" last report, I have a 1 hour delay getting in to work tomorrow, but I may wind up sleeping at the FD. More fun...
Not much going on just dealing with the snow and cold temps...having a car with no heat is not a whole lot of fun, but hey, this is why I moved home (isn't it?...)
Wife has informed me (via the Princess) that she will be keeping the cats...I'm thinking this is NOT going to be a custody battle.....as long as she treats them well.
And on that note, Laz..nice puppy!
- Mike C, Char, 88& Q....and anyone else I've missed, bunch of pages I've missed...
JimT Good Luck Buddy!! Hope you're employed soon.
Have a good night stay warm and snow free...I'll check back later!!!
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin

fifedog 88 - Can't do railfanning afterwards, as wifey and I are hosting dinner with the "potential" in-laws. Wouldn't have minded a little trackside at St Denis. SPMan - Best wishes with the plumbing...

No problem on railfanning, we'll have to plan a day trip or two this spring/summer.
arkady Banks: Arkady, you must live near Pine Grove Mills. I saw that crash/ explosion on the news. I live in Duncansville. Ever bought any trains at the Duncansville Antique Depot?

I visit there about every other month. Haven't bought any trains there in the last couple of years.

AFRay, Hudson John, and Krapug.........take as much snow from this storm as you want, but I wish you would not be so generous and pass so much of it along. We are back in the 6-10 inch forecast category up here in Taxachussetts North of Boston, starting early this evening and continuing into tomorrow. Maybe you could send the storm Westward and toward Banks and Laz. The PA boys love the snow.
Brent.......good to hear from you again. Prayers to you and SuzieQ as your quest continues. You are right. Patience will win out.
DougM......not all of the evening class teachers appreciate what it takes like you do: to work all day, commute to school, spend 3 hours in class running on a fried brain, and then trekking home. Vacations and free weekends are non-existent. I had to schedule my classes on weekdays that would not interefere with my job's out of town travel requirements. Took many a cab from O'Hare straight to class with my luggage. Since I didn't have any undergraduate courses in my area of study, I had none of the core courses. Twenty eight courses and five years later, going to school year round, I finally finished up (at DePaul no less). Didn't leave much time for a home life, glad I did it before we had kids.
MikeC......hope you are feeling better. Prayers for your Dad continue. Your plate is full. I tried to drive the bus on everything with my folks when I was in your shoes. Other family members just assumed everything was being taken care of by me, and I didn't get enough offers from them to help out. If I had it to do over again, I would have spread the load.
NavyJack......at long last, buddy!!!!! A layout. Your Grandson is a Godsend. Bet he realizes just how much this means to you. Take no chances, tell him.
JimSP.....ouch on that deductible you have to fork over to get your window replaced. My last automobile escapade with a parking lot hit/skip driver all came out of my own pocket because my deductible had to be met. Makes you wonder what ever happened to personal responsibility and integrity.
RaySP.....prayers this plumbing stuff will work out for you. But it sounds like your Doc has a feasible and doable plan to straighten matters out.
Brutus.....prayers Char's progress continues unabated, and the meds and PT are helping move things along. And for your Dad too. Hope his knee is coming along.
Later, gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Lunchtime,
The snow that was supposed to be rain is really coming down. About 4" and not letting up. The main storm is supposed to be here around 10 tonight. I have the first watch and i will just take my rest period here instead of going home. the way it looks I wont be home till Friday and there is another storm coming in Friday to Sunday. 19 months and 14 days can't come quick enough.
Navy Jack, Sounds like a great solution for the layout.
Banks Arkady, you must live near Pine Grove Mills. I saw that crash/ explosion on the news. I live in Duncansville.
Morning all,
Chief, that carpet central looks like it was on steroids. You had a lot going there. I started years ago with an HO layout on the floor. Those were the days before they had portable track or roadbed. I built the thing on three foot sections of narrow plywood pieces about 4 " wide. The track and wooden roadbed was fastened to that and each section was joined by bolts and wing nuts. I had it running all around the living room in an apartment where we lived then. I used to park the train behind the couch. that was over 45 years ago.
Got another report from my gastrointeroligist yesterday about my plumbing. He said my UC condition was in an active stage now and that I should come to see him every two months instead of six. This was not good news. I feel pretty good today and have got back on the straight and narrow with diet. I hope and pray that I can manage this problem so that it won't prevent me from going places and doing things in the future. The doc said he might have to change my medicine if things get worse. I am trying not to get depressed over this and I don't think I will as long as I have faith. Thanks to you guys for letting me bend your ear.
Memorial service for my friend Jerry Blaine is tomorrow. Am going to try and make that if all goes well.
Beautiful weather here continues. Sorry about the stuff you guys are getting in the East.
later,
SPMan
The snow that we were SUPPOSED to start getting later today is coming on strong now,
I guess late morning is the new late afternoon.
The view from my office.
Ken
Fife & 88 I did an old Williams trainmaster I'm having a little problem with it receiving signal if it gets away from the base so think I need to put a jumper in on the outside rail to the far end of my carpet central layout but its easy. If I can do it anyone can do it. I got mine from boxcar bill http://mttponline.com/ Laz turned us on to him. By the way plan to do a couple more yet including an MTH conventional NYC Alco set.
Talk to you you all later
Hi GUYZ,
SNO HI O here!!!! Getting out early so go home and play with MINNIE. Having lots o fun with her. I goota find time for trains now? Showed her the trains last nite but didn't fire em up. Maybe this afternoon. Hope all is well?
CHIEF, love the carpet central. Did that a few months before getting off the floor. Had my JANEDOG aka DOGZILLA eat my first mountain I ever made out of paper mache.
Stay frosty,
laz57
Fife - sounds good. I'm not looking for anything either, but could use a day 'o trains with the fellas - if you know of a close by spot for some rail fanning maybe we could do that after? UGH about the CW40-8. I'm going to try my hand at upgrading the Williams B&O sharks and if that goes well I'll do the WM GP-7s myself, one power, one dummy on each set.The kids will get here when they are ready... that's the way I'm approaching that now.
navyjack - Sounds like you have the makings of a nice rr, as well as the makings of a nicer young man...
Good Morning
26 and overcast as usual.
Lots of chit chat this morning, good reading. No new snow but flurries are expected most any time all week. I ran some trains yesterday, kind of a test run for Charlies visit tomorrow nite. All is well, untill Charlie arrives. You know how that goes. Well at least the Chief didn't tell anybody about my bunny slippers.....Happy Hump Day
S.J.
hello guys, af53 do you have any af o gauge electrics, john is what you would refer to in the navy as a hacker, that is he can hack it, that is something as insignificant as snow will not bother him. all the guys i have met on this post are cool in their own way. even those who still think we are fighting the civil war. ha..ha..my grandson is going to make a simple 3x6 out of 3/8 plywood to keep it light and making a 1x2 frame that will fit on an aluminum camping table. i have an oval of 027 track coming and a pair of manual switches. by next week i may be able to run a santa fe alco passenger train as well as other shorties. will be putting plasticville together as well as lots of vehicles. fun..fun..fun... it is great to have a strong, tall 15 year old grandson who wants to spend time with their old grandpa. also one who likes fishing, hunting and trains. pat you never fooled me, you are one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. definitely a guy who believes, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. rt knows what i am talking about. i hate cry babies. navyjack
