hello guys...2.5 inches of gray snow on the ground. dont know why it is gray. anybody have a blue or grey lionel set that lionel brought out about ten years ago. mth had some neat items as well. does anyone have a civil war layout. someone i know has a tales of wells fargo set. that has got to be rare. navyjack
Fife - I got that... Boller had the reputation of getting injured and not necessarily to the extent that he shouldn't be playing, when he was in Bal'more. Just razin ya!
Good Morning
26 and overcast as usual.
I had a nice visit with Charlie last nite, we did trains and talked about getting a new laptop. Looks like before christmas would have been a better time to buy. Then had chat time with him and Brutus. Happy friday to all...S.J.

Hey Chief: read your post on dust. here's a hint; use a100% cotton dish towel with warm water to wipe spackle from joints. even if you don't get it all, you can always use fine sand paper to finish. cuts way down on dust. Yankee Ingenuity !

Good morning all,
Spring is here in OK, at least for today and tomorrow. The highs for today and tomorrow are in the low 70s. I would be happy about those temps if it was March, but not in January. We still may get some snow next week.
88/CNW/Fife – Start . I'm not saying Cutler should have played or not; however, we have learned he was injured. Would an injured Cutler be a liability to his team? Obviously, if it's P. Manning, T. Brady, or some other great QB, the team would want them in the game injured or not, but Cutler is not anywhere as good as those guys. My only issue with this whole thing is the way current and former players have been criticizing him. Jones-Drew sat out two games with a “bad” knee issue while his team was still in contention and we all know Deion Sanders never liked to hit or get hit so I'm not sure why he said anything. It was good to see Cutler's teammates defend him; Urlacher is a stand-up guy for doing that. Perhaps if the offensive line would not have allowed him to get hit so much he could have remained in the game. We'll really find out how tough Cutler is or isn't based upon his ability to come back from all the criticism. We'll also find out whether or not his coaches and bosses believe in him next year as well. End .
It’s time to get back to work. It will be a busy Friday for me, but I plan to get home at a decent hour.
Joe
Joe - I fully support Cutler, it was The Bear's medical staff that benched him, not he himself. The guy couldn't put any weight on his leg when trying to attempt a pass... his last pass (a short 10 yard out) he bounced to the receiver and he threw off his back leg (not the one he injured) so IMHO that proved his knee was messed up.
Hello all,
Demay,88/CNW/Fife Who is Boller ????
Quick check in at lunch
Going to help Son shell a ton or so of corn tomorrow morning. Then get a ton of coal after lunch. Sunday Mrs & I may take down the tree. We'll see, it's still holding needles well. Definitely a little train time.
Prayers for those in need

I was teasin' my son. I'm sure Mr Cutler is a swell guy. "Check please."
Frosty this morning. Sun came out and ran around in shirt sleves. Now it is a little chilly. Wall sanded and re-mudded. Off to the movie with Wifey [new True Grit]. Then probably Texas Steak House. Hope to get all Christmas tubs under layout and then get it back to normal. Feel badly for you Yanks and the snohio.
Later.

hello: on that Cutler injury. some of you may or may not know that Cutler is a diabetic. i have had great experience with that disease for decades. to me, he looked like he had high blood sugar or low blood sugar. his face and lethargic demeanor tell me his blood was out of whack. you don't guess with that disease. could lead to coma or even death, puts a lot of pressure on other organs as well, not the least of which is not being able to concentrate. it' only a game. medical staff did the right thing. later.
Well it finally happened for a while anyway I was informed today that I'm now on double restriction on buying anymore trains. well it was fun while it lasted lol. did get some great items and sold some item to get some even better items than I had or gotten.
got my Reading NW-2 in today with the Transfer caboose. Also got my N&W Cattle car. still have the southern Pacific set to come in and an crossing gate I'm high bidder on at choochoo. If I lose out I lose out not really worried about it got what i really wanted and that was the train set with the TMCC Berk in it.
Hope all have had a good week I have to work the weekend but I'm off monday and Tuesday and then next weekend so I'm good lol. Talk to you all later

Well, this snow event was 11 inches at my place and with the overall sub 32 degree temps since Christmas the mountains grow. None of the neighbors dug out the fire hydrant across yesterday, so I may take that on shortly. Low teens overnight but it hit 30 today. Next snow is forecast for next Wednesday! Looks like we won't be seeing grass until March.

Gas, electric, food, health care, heating oil, etc. continue to go up. I'm not complaing beacause I still have a job but alot of us are stepping backwards these day.
Piont to ponder??? We all can't be stepping backwards, can we, who is stepping forwards??

I have seen the movie TRUE GRIT, both versions. The new version is very good except Matt Dammon. I thought he was weak.

Good evening everyone. It has been a bit of a crazy day. Woke up with my eye hurting again. Had to do a case, so didn't get it checked out till this evening. Seems my eyelid had stuck to some of the new tissue on the wound while I was sleeping. When I opened my eye, it tore the top few layers off my cornea. Sooooo, more meds and hope it completely heals in the next four weeks. If it doesn't, they will have to do a little procedure called "Corneal Tattoo", in which they stick a needle into the eye a bunch of times....sounds like fun!
Anyway, it was a most difficult case today, but went as well as it could, so I was glad to get that behind me. Wife is currently out with some of the ladies she works with. Plan for the weekend is to go help out a friend by replacing some light fixtures and all the outlet covers in his house. Has a big fear of all things electrical. Guy might know his way around surgery, but don't let him near anything mechanical. Then, I have some limbs to burn, but with the eye the way it is, I don't want to cause any irritation. Most likely will spend the rest of the day on the layout.
Fife, I was told of a video of a bank robbery where the guy took a woman hostage. While trying to leave the scene, he tripped and the woman fled. He tried to recapture her, but got a bit weighed down by some Lead! Doubt he will be a repeat offender if ya know what I mean.
Hey guys, if anyone is interested, this weekend is the start of the annual Coon Hunt here. I have already seen a number of pickups with spot lights and dog cages driving around. Here is a little news story: http://www.mysouthwestga.com/news/story.aspx?id=573585
I have thought about going one time, but I value my sleep too much.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.God BlessDennis

And how do you sleep thru all that gun firing?
Oh yeah you get use to it just remembered i use to sleep thru them firing the 16" guns and it rocked the ship beside having a big bang lol
I remember when rabbit season and quail season opened up in VA. it use to sound like a mini maffia gun fight at times lol. or thats what the wife would call it anyway lol.
hope your eye heals fine the tatoo part doesn't sound fun at all
Good Evening from the Jersey,
Great to be home. I must either be getting used to the snow or I am losing it. As I was driving in my company truck this morning, looking at walls of snow on each side of the road, I thought to myself this is real nice. I really like it. Then reality kicked in as I got out of the truck. Bring on Spring. We had light snow all day and it is forecasted all weekend. Another storm coming Tuesday/Wednesday.
Banks, My tree is still up. We may take it down this weekend also. The needles are holding also. My wife is real fussy in storing all of the balls and decorations in their original boxes. It takes forever.
Navy Jack, That grey snow is the snow that was deflected and sent to us by our friends down South. I will give you a call this weekend.
RT, You are suffering from the same disease as me. Maybe I will have mine sent to AF53's house, pick them up and slip them in.
RI Jack, I hear you about the snow.
SJ, You may have lost $79 a month on your pension, but you just gained 3" of snow.
Dennis, Watch that eye when working on the fixtures. Dust and dirt seem to find their way there real quick. I went coon hunting with a friend of mine and his dad a number of years ago with his hunting club. I would rather go duck hunting.
AF53, Ray, I know all about getting a wage freeze. Also about getting a train purchase freeze. The only good thing about the snow is the OT.
Prayers and Thoughts for all in need.
Be extra careful driving and walking in the snow and ice.
John
Didn't get up to much today - took off to rest my leg, took Aleve. I did play some videogames for a while and then we went out to get our monthly haircuts at the salon. Nice talks with RT, SJ, and Charlie. Wife has C-Dif somehow, so they added yet another pill to her daily round. Tardis is ready, so lets hit the road :)
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good evening all,
We had a nice Friday night: out for pizza and watching some Winter X games at home. I ran trains for about 45 minutes with our two sons. We had all three trains going and only had one minor bumping, not really a pile up; nothing even derailed. I downloaded the new Lionel RTR catalog, but I have not looked at it yet.
Fife - I hope I didn't appear sensitive about the Cutler thing, I knew you made your comment to tease your son. I sounded off because of all the nonsense I've seen on the sports outlets since the game. I'm not a Cutler or Bears fan, but I don't think people like Neon Deion should be running their mouths.
S.J. - Thanks to the whopping raise we military folks received and our awesome tax code, I will make an extra $4 a month this year. I guess I ended up better off than you. I'm not complaining either; I have a job and I didn't join the military to get rich.
Good night all,
RT & Hudson#685 - If you guys want to have those items sent my way I'll make sure they are taken care of real good
I might even test them out for you!
AF53 Chief - I hope you give us a review on True Grit! Trailers make it look like it's a good one! sir james- I hear ya! Even us working stiffs are having a worse year this year. Ray.......the published inflation rates are driven by the changes in the consumer price index as measured by a "market basket" of goods and services normally and regularly purchased. We are told what the inflation rate is monthly, which at first glance seems reasonable and low.
But I don't see it with heating fuel, groceries, or at the gas pumps. And that is where the rubber hits the road.....or a start. I don't see it with health care costs. I don't see it in taxes. I don't see it in fees. Are not all of these items part of everyday life? Then where are the offsetting items in the "market basket" that brings the overall average back down?
My conclusion is that the numbers or the formula are seriously flawed and the "market basket" the economists and statiticians measure is not our market basket, not representative of the real world. These knuckleheads should be introduced to the real world.
One would think that an economist of integrity or of the least bit of intelligence would conclude: "Hey, the numbers I am cranking out and publishing don't pass the common sense test and don't match the results I personally see at the cash register."
If anyone can explain to me what I am missing, it would be appreciated.
HudsonJohn.........just got done watching our weather (snow) forecast. The early opinions are another 6" to 12" next Wednesday and Thursday. The white stuff keeps piling up, and I am going to have to devise a new strategy to get the snow up and out further into the yard. Once the mounds get over 7 feet, even the Ariens can't shoot it up and over the mounds when you get within 5 feet of the base.....and I am NOT going to shovel the snow by hand! The end of the driveway and in towards the house about 12 feet....that is where the mounds are a good 9-10 feet because of the snow donated to the driveway by the plow crews.
Jack, It can be explained in one short & concise statement:
"Figures don't lie, but liars can figure".
Crazy day on the layout today, all kinds of gremlins were out & about in the early part but seemed to quiet down as the day progressed.
I had three lines running all TMCC, til it was time to rest an engine. Replaced it with a conventional using TMCC & TPC .
Got sufficient coverage for Sunday, guess I have no excuse to not tackle the "Honey-do List".
It will be an early bedtime tonight.
Nite all.

hello guys, hope that everyone gets through the snow. i know joe the pay raise is a joke. as a retiree this is the second year without a raise at all. rt sounds like he got a lot of neat stuff. congrats. my big grandson is coming over this am. he wants biscuits and corned beef hash for breakfast. i would like to see the remake of true grit also. have to wait till they bring out the video. have watched the trailer over and over. like the part jeff bridges plays. have cut my train buying way down. have to get some big stuff this year. need to get the snowblower tuned up also. it is a toro and wont keep running. grandson caught a 30 lb or so snapping turtle. he would like a henry 22 but his mom is a tree hugger and i am too old for another war. navyjack
Hudson 685 yeah the money crunch is getting to be felt here also I use to get anywhere from 32 to 48 hrs ot every 2 weeks now lucky to get more than 12 and there hiring more so ot will be a thing of the past. so train money is disapearing quick. And our pres and congress and sentors decieded to freeze our pay for next to years but they made sure they got one ( not including the pres there) .
Just have to live with it
Hope all having a good day talk to you all later
