Aloha all. WInd gone - super-quiet out. Ready to take the middle boy and his friend to school. Hope to find a pumpkin patch to visit with the youngest after picking him up from school. Ran trains last night. All went well. Browsed the Christmas village items at Home Depot. Good prices but I'm only buying to fill particular spaces these days and nothing 'jumped out' at me. Brutus, good news about Char. You'll love that Armstrong book. I get some of his layout books from our library regularly. Definitely planned my layout his way - what are my givens and druthers, etc?

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold 46 degrees. Going up to 64 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. Grocery shopping and all the usual chores. Will be busy until this afternoon.
LAZ.... I agree about autographs. I only have one. Clayton Moore ( The Lone Ranger), autographed his book for me. That was a great meeting.
Dining car is here for the usual breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Hi GUYZ,
A bit cooler today only getting to 65. GOLF tonite after school with BRO, then down to WAYNES.
Autographs, none don't want any either. They are just people just like you and me. Wouldn't waste my time or money standing in line to get an autograph.
No work on layout, maybe this weekend?
Stay frosty,
laz57
Morning all. Getting ready to head in. Had a nice dinner last night with the work crowd....but I prefer to stay home with my family. I have my Lackawanna A-B-A set to arrive tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Also, I went by Hobby Lobby and picked up some Life-Like figures and town scenery. Normally the packages are $16, they are on clearance for $6.
Brutus, while I may not mention it every post, I do keep Char in my prayers. She has had a long road to tote and continues. Glad she is progressing. Sorry for you and the kids, know you miss having her home. Hope she is healthy enough real soon. Don't want to push things as you said, she has a lot to over come.
Don, now that is an interesting set of autographs. You do have a great idea about returning them. Most of mine are in a closet or a stack under the cabinets. They are low on the wife's priority list.
Chief, don't over do it. I still think you are the busiest "retired person" I know,
God Bless,Dennis

DIRTY OLD MAN!!!
Off to meetings for most of the day. Never had any bad weather around us. Just west and north of us. The "critters" have found the cat feeding station under the garage [detached two bay]. Will be humane and catch them in live trap and relocate.
Glad to her Char may be coming home.
Have a good one.

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s. Another long day at work. Waiting on file to be able to do other tasks. Have lots to do. Must focus on tonight's game. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL after the game tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Glad to hear Char is doing better, our prayers continue for you ALL! Hope she is home soon!!
Been busy with the transfer of the office, must be out by Nov. 1. Goal is to be operational in the home location on the same day, with a "transparent" relocation regarding customers. Will not be doing retail sales from home, don't want or need a bunch of strangers showing up day or not wanting ink. Have a shipping proposal worked out, and all the customers I have tested it on doesn't seem to have any problem with it. So we will see what happens. Sure is a lot of work though.
Jim, 10 gallons of paint, wow! I'm assuming of course that a sealer was already on the walls, on the bright side, a room that size would make for a terrific train layout.
Speaking of autographs, I don't have many, and sure don't know what to do with what I have. My favorite is Harry Gant. But the most interesting are what a customer provided me. He is the photographer for the annual beauty pageants put on by "The Donald". As a result, at the pageants when he is photographing the girls in their evening gowns. He has a 13x19 matte board and has each contestant in a 1x2" photo. He then puts the photo in the matte, and has brought them to us. They usually have them in their office for a year or so, then rotate them out. Since he buys his ink and paper from us, he then offers them to me. Of course I take them. I currently have 3 in the office, Miss Universe 2002, Miss America 2006, and Miss Teen USA 2009. They are really beautiful. Now what do I do with them???? I have often thought about trying to find the contestants and offering it to them, if they would pay the shipping cost. But the time and effort to do that would be tremendous!! So most likely they will end up on a shelf somewhere.
Havn't had any train time in awhile, looking forward for that to change. Was windy out here today, the patio and pool are a mess, but nothing like what you all had back there. I think most of the wind here is due to the upcoming election. Jerry and Meg are REALLY getting it on! So much negative crap its nausiating. Then the propositions, if a person reads them AND the arguements, sure doesn't sound anywhere close to the same measures when you hear the spin that are advertised!!! If you think things are bad in Calif now, you haven't seen anything yet. Hopefully the Good news be that Brown does NOT win, the BAD news will be that MEG does.
Better get off this subject, I am probably pushing the limits.
Hope everyone has a great day today, and blessed with GOOD HEALTH !!
Don
Good evening all,
The wife had a meeting at the church tonight, so it was the three kids and me tonight. Fortunately, the wife made some roaster butternut squash and zucchini soup with crusty bread for dinner. After we ate, the three kids and I went out to the garage to work on the 7y/o son's Halloween costume. Due to the baby needing more attention, I was only able to spray paint the main components: one cardboard box for the head; one larger box for the body; and two pieces of cardboard box which will cover his shoes. I used a metallic gray and I believe it looks pretty neat. Tomorrow we will do some last minute fitting and add some details.
Brutus - Glad to hear Mrs. Brutus may be able to go home soon.
I hope everyone else is doing well. It's time for bed and I know I will not want to get out of it tomorrow morning since we should have some frost.
Good night,
Joe
Howdy guys -running late again. Nice chats with RT and SJ. Spoke with Charlene tonight and they think she might be able to come home in a week or so - lots of damage takes a long time to heal. Got a John Armstrong book on layouts for operatins that looks interesting in the mail today. I'll save it until my real birthday, which is coming up. Prayers all around. Tardis is ready and Mike can drive as I'm dozing off! BARK!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good night. Busy day and lots of driving. 7 AM meeting and all day meetings after that. Tornados all around west of us and near the lake house. Nothing here YET. Front moving east. Extremely warm outside.
Sleep tight.
Evening guys,
Just about finished paining the basement. 10 gallons. The block really soaks it up.
Keeping you all in my prayers.
May God bless
Jim
Hi guys, windy all day but the power is on. Had another doc appointment this afternoon, their really filling appointment books with my name in them. Banilla is ready and the beacon is turning so come on by....S.J.

Good evening. Getting ready for a dinner meeting with one of the suppliers. Hope to get home early as tomorrow is a busy one. Wife and kids are at Violin practice. I need to get my practice in, but that will have to be later.
Regarding autographs, I have a number, can not recall all, but do have some stand outs in my own heart. Oliver North, Carlos Hathcock, R. Reagan, Charlie Duke, Mostly American Heroes in my mind. Also have some entertainers, preachers, etc. In the end, they don't mean much, except to remind me when I met these folks.
It looked as if it was going to rain all day and now, as night approaches, it looks like the skies are clearing. Oh well.
Hope to check in later.Dennis
The only autograph I have is from Karl Wallenda, the famous high wire walker. I saw him perform in L.A. once and he signed my program at the convention center. A friend of mine was part of his high wire troupe back in the late 50"s. They did the 7 man pyramid then of which my friend was a part.
Still getting over my cold but it is hanging on. #2 adult son has it too. Not much going on here with the trains. I ran a little yesterday just to keep the tracks clean.
later,
Ray

Good Morning
Sun and windy, maybe 68 today
PT for my neck went well, guess I'll go back as she is a sweet young thing. LoL. Good chat with the guys last nite..
Have a great day....S.J.
Autographs. I have a few. Of course, one is the legend, the one and only A. J. Foyt. I also have IV's and Vitor's and Larry Foyt as well. Sarah Fisher (several, in fact). Scott Goodyear, E J Viso, and Ana Beatriz. Even one from Milka. None from the Princess, but hoping to get the Swiss Miss sometime. Some older autograsphs (if I can find them) from Roger McCluskey and Jim Hurtibise. Also, I have a George Snider one as well.
It was very chilly this morning so I stayed in bed longer and only ran two miles. Today's high is 68; now it feels like fall. I have a ton of paperwork to catch up on at work and two meetings/briefings to attend. These are the types of workdays that seem to drag on longer than they should. After work I need to finish my son's robot costume.
CNW - A prayer your wife's appointment goes well. My two older children have asthma and it does cause some challenges. Fortunately we have been able to control it with medication - of course I hate having a 9y/o and 7y/o on so much medicine - and it has not prevented them from participating in any sporting or leisure activities.
Good day all,
Aloha all. Blustery again today but sunny. Laz, I had to stop at your post about throwing out boxes. I thought you were throwing out what had been in the boxes. I don't save any boxes. I know it makes it easier to resell things, but I usually sell things at bargain prices anyway - figure I had my fun, let's give someone else a deal. Dennis and Fife, you got me thinking the only 'signed' photos I have are of Fred (Mr.) Rogers and Ara Parseghian. Nice chat with Sir J, Brutus and Charlie last night. Felt like a juggler because I could only 'chat' with each one separately. Thanks for the company on my long train ride home. Off to the bride's doc.
Morning. On the run. Headed down east on estate business. Sunny and extra warm. Weather allert went off all night adding tornado watches. Why is the Weather Bureau likes to do those in the middle of the night? We are not in the watch area. Have a good one.
Good Morning guys!
Last post before blast off...long day ahead. Have to stop by the house and pick up the Princess's shirt for Drama Club, drop that off before 10, Lunch with the Enterprise crew at 11 Dr's appt. for FD physical 1230, stop off at shop for thanks and goodbyes. Go to school and watch the rehersals then take Princess home. Pack up car with some of my belongings and head north. Sad time as I'll miss my daughter, but Christmas is coming.
Watched Rocky Horror Glee last night while the kids carved pumpkins...a great time was had by all. Dinner was great and helped out the wife with some stuff around the house.
OK, prayers all around....will check back Friday or Saturday....
Be Safe!

Morning guys. Getting the kids ready for school. I am still on call. Almost got called in at 0300 yesterday as trauma surgeon who lives around the corner thought he could use my help on a case he was going in for. He saw the lights on (I was already up), but he was able to struggle through the case without bothering me. Told him anytime, I am happy to help...but I enjoyed the time at home more.
8N, glad you were able to get things done. Know there are a lot of businesses out there that are struggling. More are at the point that they will go under trying to work through the medical debacle from DC.
Fife, I too have a photograph from Ronald Reagan. It is signed too. I miss him! Kids have taken on my political persuasion that may get them in some trouble, but they are learning to stand by their principles.
Chief, that is a very good rifle....good luck with her. I have several that will make one hole at 100 meters. Reach out and touch them. As they say, don't bother running, you will only die tired!
Rich, glad you had a great visit with your daughter. Hope things work out for the employment front real soon. I am sure it will. It has been so long since my fire science classes, I am not sure I could pass a challenge to the tests. With regard to drafting, we had to stay up on it for "the big one", but even some pretty big fires near the river, we had plenty of hydrants. On a lumber yard fire we had next to a Hess fuel storage facility one of the mutual aid depts drafted to put water on the tanks to keep them cool, that was the only time I recall any drafting.
Well, gotta run. Hope it is a great day for everyone.God Bless,Dennis
Hello All,
Quick sip this morning.
Slowly trying to get things ready for winter.
Fife, Son has no inclination to drive trains. A friend of ours did it for Conrail and quit after a couple of years. He said he couldn't plan anything due to being on call and the posted schedule being changed and trips taking longer than expected. He's now on the Track crew of the Everett Railroad and loves it. Son's real aspiration is to earn a living as a Farmer. Probably not going to happen due to the several hundred thousand dollars required to get into the business. He's looked into being a hired hand but the money isn't there so farming will remain an expensive hobby.
Brutus great news, prayers will continue.
CNW. Asthma? That sounds as if it could be serious.
Had a mess to clean up at Dad's last evening. His sewer plugged up at the check valve and backed up into the basement. Thankfully it's unfinished and a good hose down cleared up the mess after the plug was cleared.
Best get back to work.
Prayers for all who need them

It is a cooler 48 degrees. Big storm last night. First 15 minutes were very windy. Then, a steady rain most of the night. Going up to 64 today.
Today is a busy day. I have an errand to run and the usual chores. PT this afternoon. Maybe, some relaxing time, later.
Dining car just arrived from "Points West". The usual cCheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
BUCKEYE,
Hope you had rocks in your pockets?
62 here and rainy. Today gonna work a little on layout again? If all the stars are aligned?
FIFE, PROBE, JACK, & PAT, I tossed out about 35 boxes of the cheap rolling stock of Lionel MTH, and lots of the die cast cars, along with some house boxes. Tonite might start on the accessory boxes and starter set boxes. Theres just to many, when I'm gone wife will sell everything anyway.
Saw a BIG BUCK get hit this morning going o school, huge rack. GUYZ were picking it up and taking it. I would have then I don't have to go huntin.
IIABSDISEI with temps eventually getting to 70. I finally balanced the counts (sort of) yesterday and spent the rest of the day processing lab records. Always something different.
Last night was fantastic! We were playing a team that only lost twice during the regular season (and we should not have been playing them this first game), and we had gotten pounded both times. They only had 7 players show up, and we eventually had 10. We should have won easily, but we had to go to "golden goal" overtime to win 2-1. I had my best game ever. My wife lost count of how many times I made stops on plays. I was determined we were not going to lose. It was a great night! I slept very well.
I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Cool, sunny and windy here today.
My PRR Aerotrain billboard got here today. No Lionel markings, but it appears to be a Lionel billboard frame cast in dark brown plastic. No matter, it is a neat piece, and the price was right.
Brutus - I've already made the necessary phone calls to the vendor. Seems it was a case of the squeaky wheel getting the grease at the sub contractor. I just was not squeaking enough.
Today's 4:30 in the afternoon entertainment came as the set of dies that crashed last week crashed again tonight. Seems one of the replacement pieces had a keyway about 15 degrees out of place that went unnoticed during assembly of the die .
Another vendor to beat. I'll turn this one over to the folks in purchasing - share the fun, as it were.
This one will bring out the 'who done it' people and the associated paperwork. Think I'll hear any comments on how well the other set of tools we put in production about the same time is running? I doubt it.
All for now.
Survived the wind storm.. so far....
Nice chat tonight with SJ, Brutus and Doug.
Charlie a.k.a. MichiganRailRoad714 (Charter Member TTC)
After work, I took the two older kids to a new Chinese/Japanese restaurant in town. It was pretty much like all the rest so I am in no hurry to go back. After that we swung by Lowe's to pick up paint, duct tape, and electrical tape. We need the paint and duct tape to finish my son's robot costume and the electrical tape to install runway lights on our layout's airport.
We should have our first frost tomorrow morning which will make for an interesting 3-mile run tomorrow. It was very windy last night and the same is expected tonight - gusts up to 30mph.
It’s now time to spend some quality time with the wife before turning in.
Evening all
Prayers for Char!
I've been really busy as usual. Between work, getting the other house ready to sell, painting the basement now, and working with and playing with the kids, the day burns up fast. But life is good. I feel very blessed.
Just missed a Circus train on ebay. It was going to be a total refurb, but it was also less than $150. I did get a 271 whistle stop set. Looking forward to receiving it.
