fifedog Natty Bohs could make the trip to the west coast allright. To ensure freshness of the hot steamed crabs (smothered in Old Bay seasoning of course), I will need the services of His Honor's Lear jet. Sending them via UPS ground might be most unpleasant. As for the change in menu, what's the old saying about leaving the barn door wide open...? RAVENS WIN in the Steel City. Woohoo!

That reminds me, where is His Honor? Do you recon he has Sweet Ice Tea with his steamed crabs?

Home. Told everyone I was at the lake all week. Fished early in the week and then slept and watched TV through the big rains. That was relaxing. Need to do that more often. Did have to mow the grass yesterday as rain made it turn green and grow again. No flooding here or at the lake. Lake had been pulled down to almost as low as last year's drought up there. Now full again and still coming up. Will make fishing good as most cover and rock were on dry land before the rain. Still caught bass. Was actually sneeking around above enemy lines spreading GRITS all over the Nawth. When it rains, they should swell and turn into Snohio.
Fife, thanks for getting the new pot going. Like your addition.
Thought I had caught my shooter. Rushed to the range just before dark with loud shooting. Was my neighbor. He had bought a new AK47.
Dinner time. Later.

Have to have a discussion with the left coasters as to what we need to do.
Did get to the train meet today, didn't buy much, just a tow truck.
Did get over to Ray's place, had a really good time. His layout was looking as good as always. Ran the bridges (elevator, and Bascule) worked pertectly! Here are a couple of photos;

Good evening all,
It was partly cloudy in SE Indiana with temps on the cool side. Indy Car season came to an expected end with Team Red winning the race (Dixon) and title (Mr. Ashley Judd). One bright spot is that Vitor captured a sixth for AJ and 12th in the overall points. Sarah probably drove her last race as she will be looking for some one to drive the twisties as well as the ovals (and so she can have a baby as well). Odd how no one brings that subject up around the Princess, who did finish second. Thank you all for the well wishes as I will pass them onto the family. Wife wanted to go see "The Town". It had an accepatable ending. Reffed a kind of ugly game yesterday and then saw "my" soccer girls win an easy game 6-1. Finally got some needed rain yesterday. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL after "Desperate Housewives". I hope everyone has a good dya.
Keep on training,

Good evening everyone. Had a good day of church and a relaxing afternoon nap. I was on camera and between the conference earlier in the week and today's services, my back is hurting. Had a nice lunch with a couple and their kids as they had watched our kids last night while bride and I went to see "Like Dandelion Dust" at the theater. It was produced and directed by one of the guys who is in our upcoming movie. Quite honestly, it is a good, well done movie, but for a couple like us who have a 6yo adopted child, it was a painful experience. We adopted our daughter from China. One of the main reasons being the way the court system is so inclined to return children to biological parents.
Fife, if you are getting use of His Honor's jet, you may want to just fly the left coasters back east for the whole experience. When I worked for the fire department, we used to head to the Jersey shore and rent boats to head out to the sand bars. We would walk along the flats and just scoop up plenty of Jersey Blues and toss them into the boat. We could catch so many that you could make a meal just out of the claws. Bring them back to the fire house and boil them in beer. Then, serve them up with butter...YUM!
Don, I didn't see your photos attached to the email. Looking forward to your latest find pics. Glad you are on the mend and back to posting your fun story lines....keep it up.
Laz, those are some nice fish. It is a great thing that you and your brother have such a close relationship. I know you have been a great support through the tough loss.
Hope each of you have a blessed week ahead.Dennis

Good evening all, Had a nice visit with D.Baker and two new friends Don brought with him to see my layout. We had a nice little running session in spite of warm temperature. It was cooler than usual but not cool enough for me. The guys didn't seem to mind though and Don provided some ice cold sodas for the group. Only mishap was caused by the engineer (me) running through a few switches but that is par for the course for me. I can't chew gum and tie shoes at same time. I start talking and the trains are on their own. I picked up one of those tow trucks that Don got at the meet too. I think the rigging on the back is just for looks. Can't figure out how to tow a car with it.
Welcome home Chief. Sounds like you had a nice time at the lake in spite of rain. My Lord! Now it's AK47's on Chief's rifle range. Sounds like you guys are getting ready for a war over there. Didn't know you could buy one of those things? Maybe it's not fully automatic?
Saw in paper today that pot growers out here for medical marijuana are being burglarized by gang bangers who are stealing their plants. One guy was shot and killed by a pot farmer. They have a proposition on the next ballot to try and legalize pot for everyone. What's the world coming to? We have enough trouble keeping track of all the problems with booze. Now this. I guess if enough people want it, they will have it one way or the other. Glad I'm not young anymore. Feel sorry for my grandkid though.
Don, where are the photos from today. Did not come through on my machine.
Good night y'all,
Ray
SPMan
Evening all
It has been a wonderful and full day. God is good!
Laz - Great looking fish.
Chief - The AK-47 has a very distinctive sound. A couple of weeks ago we went shooting and out came an AR-70. Thats firepower.
Good night and may God bless
Jim
Wife's really sick, joints ache and nauseated - trying to keep down peanut butter or chicken soup. Doctor tomorrow morning for labs and we'll see what happens. My dad is getting a knee replacement tomorrow, so I might have to call her Mom and see if she can come help from KC. Crappy weekend with a few high points.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
I must be getting old. Was using a different computer and going through the same steps but could not get the images to post. Tried on regular computer and it is working, go figure? So here are the pictures.
Ray at the control panel ---
Rays Passenger Terminal, this is on a peninsula that integrates onto the mainlines really well. There are many details at the Terminal building as well. Each vehicle in a parking stall has its own 5 cent parking meter.
Area coming in from the lower left is from the Passenger Terminal the mainlines curve around the control area.
The north side of the room has a lot of commercial area, the tow truck in the foreground is what we picked up at the train meet today.
These are the 2 bridges I was reffering too, it is really awesome to see the Elevator bridge operate, the Bascule bridge is really cool also.
The southeast corner is well detailed including oil derricks.
Northeast corner, Ray mentioned he first started working the layout in '76, like most of us when time, resources permited.
Looking back at the northwest corner, again much better when your there, but well planned and detailed.
Ray, THANKS AGAIN, for hosting the visit, Bob talked all the way home about different ideas that he had after seeing your place. I'm sure the next time I see Paul he will have much to say as well.
NOTE: For those that are interested, I decided to make a thread with the photos of the scenery that I bought separate, I don't want to cause problems for any ones computer.
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps eventually into the 60s. Dennis, I can imagine your reaction to the movie. I was watching "Desperate Housewives" and there was an extremely sad moment relatiing to kids there as well. Don B, nice pictures of Ray's layout. Glad to hear you had a good visit. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL after "my" soccer girls last regular season game. Brutus, extra prayers going out to you and the family during this hopefully short deviation from the recovery road. I hope everyone has a good day.

Rainy days and Mondays. Getting up to 54 today.
DOUG M. BEARS STUNK up the MEADOWLANDS last nite. No that smell wasn't JIMMY HOFFA it was DA BEARS. PU!
Stay frosty,
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 54 degrees. Light rain. Going up to 70 today with more rain.
Today is a busy day. I have chores to do and a couple of errands to run. Legs feel pretty good. I will go to PT, later this afternoon.
LAZ....Nice looking catches.
Dining car rolled in from "Points West" and Cheerios is for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Chuck
Good Morning
The day started at 40,some parts of the state went down to 27. Great pictures, great layout. Have a good monday..S.J.
Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Raining & 52 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Might be a little more gloomy in Pittsburgh . Might be downright miserable in Cincinnati . Back on evening shift, so get to play during the day.
Chief - Glad you liked the "special" this month. We can go back to grits and sweat tea next month. Actually, grits might taste good smothered in Old Bay.
dbaker & SPMan - Great pics and great layout! That's truly what makes this place special.
laz - Who cares about duh bears, when you got fish that big!!! Yowza!
dwiemer - The good news was a big harvest (finally) of flue crabs this year. The bad news was the Gulf spill, so prices remained sky high...
Aloha all. Cold and sunny. Definitely fall. Not sure whether I'm up for debriefing the reunion with my sibs. At least not now. Boy, the Bears looked awful last night. What a wonderful way to begin my day by looking at photos of Ray's layout! Thank you for posting them, Don. Prayers for your wife and dad, Brutus!

Good to see my buddy Ray. Question, who is the ugly, old and over the hill guy with Ray? Inquiring minds want to know???
Morning. Off to meetings all day and tonight. Cool fall weather here. Turnips growing after big rains. Pond is back full too. Busy week for me. Hope all are doing well.
LAZ, good fishing, man.
Thinking of buying two more rifles and another gun safe [already out grown the new one I got earlier]. Got tons of ammo stacked on an old TV cabinet I built several years ago.
All have a great week and work hard [SS check comes next Wed. ].
Later
Hey, who are those 2 distiguished gentlemen?
Thanks for those great pictures Don! Nice layout, Ray!
Happy Monday!!
Laz sorry about them Bears (um, not...GO BLUE!), nice fishies though...
Brutus - for Char
DeMay - get well soon!
MikeC - hope things are better at work.
Dennis & John...We cleaned house at the Mercer County Parade, long nights at the firehouse paid big dividends. 1st place pumper, color guard, in and out of county Ladies Aux., best marching unit with music and apparatus, Best Overall Company. Took the trucks and trophies to see our wounded brother in rehab and made his day! We are truely a brotherhood. We surprised him as only his wife and the rehab center knew we were coming. 4 trucks and the marchers...we raised some spirits and some eyebrows!
Our parade is in 2 weeks, Town Day next Saturday.
Cool and rainy here at Exit 8...had the window cracked open and slept well. Up late Saturday night and up early Sunday morn for Mom's Alter Rosary Breakfast....napped then watched football last night. Hockey Season Friday Night! G o D E V I L S!!!
Not much else on the train fron, my former Captain and I are going to flesh out the Christmas Lighting train layout in a couple of weeks...we discussed it during parade down time (beer and hot dogs..!).
Job front is the same, just running out of money...something soon we hope!
Not much on crabs, but maybe the Natty Boh...Yuengling was good at the parade, goes great with dogs...!
Stay Well, friends, we'll catch ya later!

hello mr. baker thanks for the pics. ray you have a nice layout. i wish i could run trains with you. how large is your layout? cold here. 37 degrees. hope everyone is ok. navyjack
D.Baker, thank you Don for posting the pictures from yesterday. They came through this morning. Glad that Bob and Paul enjoyed their visit. Thanks to all of you guys for the kind words about my layout. I love to share pictures with other forum members I'm just not good at it yet. Don tried to teach me one time but I am a slow learner on things like that. I have to be repetitious to learn computer things and I don't do it enough. However, those were great shots you did Don. Thanks again.
Navy Jack, I wish you could run trains with me too buddy. The layout is 20 ft. X 24 ft.
Brutus, prayers for Char. Hope she feels better soon.
Hey Don, how about going East in Chief's Lear Jet for those steamed crabs as someone suggested. I could go for that and we could have sweet ice tea with the Chief as well.
Laz, great fish you and Bro had. Were those fish on a spawning run? I did not think they would bite when they are on a run like that. Looked like a lot of anglers in the stream so fish must have been plentiful. Looks like good eating.
Weather is finally cooling off this week. Maybe even a little shower by tomorrow.
Have a good week y'all,
Afternoon All !
Lovely day here, if you're a duck. Last week couldn't work in the yard because it was to hot, now it's to cold & wet. Will have to borrow a tractor to mow the front yard it's getting so tall.
Laz, Bro caught some nice fish ! Where's your catch ?
Don, Sweet score on those backdrops. Wish they had one of those places down this way, always enjoyed eating there when traveling to the southeast prior to downsizing/retirement. Didn't even know there was one out here.
Ray & Don, I'll skip the crabs but if we can "taste test" some B'almore crab cakes w/the Natty Bohs I'm in !
The munchkin spent the nite with us friday and I am just beginning to recover, . Where do they get all that energy ?
Later All !

Jim - Special prayers for Char tonight!
May God bless
After four months of work, we turned in our bridge inspection reports today. I do the quality control, so I read each one, correct, re-read. Due to a design flaw in one of the bridges, it was literally self destructing due to expansion/contraction. Of course it is over a railroad and will cost a bundle to replace the deck, superstructure and the abutments.
Just a few more days and we will see snow!!! Can't wait. Need to get the snowblower ready to dig us out of the several feet I expect this winter.
Won't be at York this fall. Wes and I are going to try for the spring.
Went home this weekend. There are more trains than ever on the old B&O line. It was doubled tracked several years ago across Ohio and Indiana. I heard the train horns again in the distance, just like I did when I was growing up. I remember seeing the Capital Limited with its dome cars rolling through the edge of town during the 1960's.
Jim....My thoughts are with you and your wife.

Me too.
Made it to 57 today.
A lazy day, I did nothing worth writing about. We did have banilla with fresh strawberries on top tonite. I saved some banilla for tonites trip but the strawberries are gone. The tree leaves are still green but showing signs of change....No fall York for me maybe the spring show if Charlie goes...S.J.
Wife is back in SLU Hospital downtown, I spent the day with her there. They hope she'll be able to come home in a week at this point. More testing and biopsy tomorrow to verify, but they are really convinced it's a reaction after they took her off the immune suppression drugs. Thanks for the prayers guys. Her Mom got here from KC tonight, took her to dinner and watching Hawaii 5-0. It's not as good as the old show.
Dad's knee replacement went well. They put in a block so he hasn't had the pain yet, but it will be pretty bad for a couple days or so. We didn't tell the rest of the family how bad Char was doing, because Dad was scheduled for his surgery. We're all caught up now though.
Ray and Don -
Tardis is ready, so lets go boys, I need some butter pecan ASAP!
I believe it is safe to say autumn is officially here and I don't believe I will have to turn on the AC again. The overnight lows are very cool and get down in to the 40's. We have the windows open and it feels great.
I am almost 100% better and I plan to attend my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class again tomorrow morning. I have not been in about two weeks due to being sick and out of town. Thanks for all the well wishes.
The Dolphins were pummeled tonight and it was not easy to watch. The game is almost over now, but I gave up a while ago. I should have went to bed early.
Good night,
Joe
Good Evening!
Jim - Lots and Lots of prayers for you and Char from here!!!! I just don't know how you guys keep going on as well as you do. I'm sure it is really taking a toll on you both! I certainly admire you for what you have been through. And I know its really tough on the kids too. Which makes it even harder for you. Your in my thoughts a lot, please keep us posted as you can. GOD BLESS you and your family !
Had another "recovery" day. Wife STILL doesn't want me to go to work, she's going to find out how little I do there. We had a rainy day today, totally unbelievable! This is September! Last week temperature here was as high as 113, today its 67, what's with that? And THEN, even snow forecast in the local mountains this evening! Since I'm recovering and the medication I'm on says to stay out of sunlight, and it was raining, I managed to get the roof on the shed today. (Medication said nothing about rain!) But, still a little frustrated, I have 4 aluminum corner strips I need to paint and couldn't....UGH! If I could have gotten 2 done, I could have relocated the Shed to its "final" spot. Then all I would have to do is put the door on and its DONE! Probably be a day or two.
Did clean up the train room a bit, (it is such a convenient area to store stuff. Have gone through in my mind 4 or 5 different sequence schemes for the scenery. Really looking forward to getting that up. Must have it done before Jan/Feb. timeframe.
My buddy Bob will becoming over tomorrow night, he's suppose to get the 4th Legacy engine in the mail Should be interesting.
BTW, it appears that some folk have been inhaling way too much gun powder.
Of course everyone knows who that Young Senior is on the left! It is ME, Dufus!
Or are you feasting on the Kibbles again? (I told you to use them as bait at the lake, they are NOT seasoning for the grits.)
Navyjack, whats with the MR. Baker??? I ain't that old, trust me!!
