Hello all,

Busy day. Had the privilege of the grand-kids company this AM. Got some fall yard work done

Son started picking corn today. Said there were 7 deer in his soybean field this AM so they will be next. Deer won't eat the soybean unless the are dry enough to combine for some reason?

Mrs & I had a fire this evening and now I'm sipping a glass of wine while I keep up with y'all.

Brutus. continued prayers for your Mrs & your Dad. . As far as soldering pipes. Make sure you clean the pipe and the fitting well before putting them together. Use a good quality flux and lots of heat. On the fitting , not the pipe. I don't like the lead free solder. It takes too much heat and sometimes the flux is burned away before it's hot enough to flow.Make sure you have a good torch. The really cheap propane ones take way to long to heat up a joint. I've found the ones that use MAPP gas do a great job.

Penn State played lousy today

I'm off to join Mrs in bed.

Prayers for all who may need them

Well, today was just busy.  Mother-in-Law headed back to KC, I took the kids for haircuts at the salon, did lunch, took kids to Borders and Gamestop, then played a game, got pizza, and paid bills.  Where did that day go?

TCA magazine came - looks like a good one :)

TTFN - Tardis is ready, freddy!

Oh - thanks for the info Banks!  I got an email from RT about this earlier too.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get to that, but I have a lot of paperwork to do and need to keep the kids busy, so it might have to wait a couple days.  No hurry anyway.

I do have the MAPP not propane - another buddy, Jeff, told me about that Thumbs Up

Good evening all,

IIABSIDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Long day of soccer.  Reffed three games, two of which went into shootouts, and both of those were two batches of five shooters.  Lucas did three games in a row as well.  He wore cleats.  Big mistake as ground was rock hard.  Local teams did not win a single game in all four groupings and local HS boys lost in first round of sectional.  Only "my" soccer girls and my team are still playing.  I was approached this morning by a parent of one of the HS girls about working with a group of kids in the off season.  I was open to the idea.  We shall see what happens.  I was tired after reffing those three games.  Wife's BIL is going home from hospital today.  Not sure what that means.  I had a mixed lot on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL anytime and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening all,

Pretty relaxing day today.  After watching the PSU thrashing, I ran the trains for a little while.  I intended to do some work on the layout, but I had the now 3-month old son with me, so I was a little occupied.  We still had a good time watching the trains go around which is all that really matters.  I'm hoping I can get some work done on the layout Monday since I am off work that day, but the two older kids still have school.

Enjoyed some lasagna for dinner, and then watched the YANKEES sweep the Twins.  I hope the extra time off until the ALCS doesn't hurt them.

Time for bed.  Good night,

Joe

Morning all

Jim - As far as the sweat joints, clean both surfaces use flux and get it hot enough to where the solder is drawn into the joint without you needing to run around the joint.

Get the water out of the section you are working, start low and got high as the heat rises and leave a faucet or valve open to alow the system to vent when possible to allow the expanding air and stem to escape.

Time to get started, a super busy day today.

May God bless

Jim

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear and dark 48 degrees. Sun is trying to come up. Going up to a sunny 80 today.

Today is an easy day. Nascar race to watch from the train room. I need to run trains today. Not much else new except a B&O hopper car from Williams. Nice detail.

Dining car is here with a Cheerios breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Mornin' boys.  Weather in the Mid-Atlantic region has been YesCool.  Got started on the honey-doooos yesterday, as this will be a "working" vacation, I am told.  Ended day with a nice fire and time with littlest princess.  Today, laundry, more honey-doooos, and RAVENS.

Anyone hear from Brent? Has he been hiking near the Iranian border or something? Blindfold

Oh, almost forgot.  Went to HomeDepot yesterday, and they had their Christmas display items out.  A very nice assortment of O-gauge buildings, and a replica of a HomeDepot store, for under $10!  Get a chance, check it out.

Good morning all,

It's in the 60s right now and today's high is mid-80s; it should make for a very nice day.  We will start getting ready for church soon.  No plans for after church.  I'm sure I will watch some football, it just depends which games will be on.  I doubt the Dolphins will be on; usually Cowboys are on in these parts.

Laz - You were a very busy man yesterday; moving seven tons of dirt with a wheelbarrel is very impressive - don't hurt yourself.

Fife - Thanks for the tip; I never new Home Depot carried these types of items.  The closest one is about 60 miles from me in OK City, but we go there regularly so I will be sure to stop there next time.

Good day,

Joe

Good Sunday Morning from Exit 8...

Sunny and a little chilly this AM.   Met (actually surprised) Mom at church this morning.  Spent yesterday with a friend and her 2 y/o daughter.  Town day was lots of fun here, downtown was closed to traffic and lots of vendors.  There was an N gauge modular set up and that was nice (but, man, that is small...).Went shopping at a couple of farmers markets, and back to her home where she made dinner.  Was a great day.

Today I will help Mom and my sister decorate for Halloween.

Yankees sweep, Devils lose their first 2, Giants at 2&2 and play in Texas, but not in Dallas....

Angel for those ailing and Dennis's and Fife's friends and Char.

Happy B-Day to the twins and anyone else I missed...

And Happy Anniversary --- 31 years sorry, I forgot who...

Have a great Columbus Day!!

Good Morning

Sun 50/84 today.

Going to a TTOS show this morning, first one of the fall season. Of course it will be the same stuff, same old prices but visiting with friends is worth going for. Enjoy your day...S.J.

Navyjack - I would love to hear Gigi play the "Fiddle" like Charlie DanielsBow. One of my favorite performers. Some of his pieces are played so fast he must break a lot of strings and the bow!

Fifedog - Thanks for the Home Depot tip. I will be sure to check out their O-gauge buildings.

Kyle Bush won again yesterday. A few more wins and he will surpass Mark Martin for the all time most wins.Big Smile

Aloha all. Ah, some more uke fans - and Iz too! I got a beautiful uke last Christmas I am trying to learn. I am very bad, but keep trying. Nice day here in Cabos San Lucas. Might be hotter back in Chicago. Off to the pool with the youngest.

cnw1995 - I've discovered the hardest part about the uke is that some of the most common chords leave your left hand feeling like a combo of arthritis and polio.  I am one of those lucky people with a good ear, which helps.

I have the same problem, with the uke and electric guitar. I have been told, with practice, that will disappear. Doug, have you over come this?

Pat, I am a big fan of Ian Whitcomb.  Not just for the ukulele but for all kinds of music he does.  We are fortunate to live near where he is (Altadena, California).  He does a show once a year at a museum near us.   We just heard him last month with a full dance band playing the music of the 20"s.  I have several of his CD's.  He has a small group called the bungalow boys where he plays more ukulele.  Some of that is on you tube as well.

Ray, you memtioned dance bands playing music from the 20's. That brings back memories of the Big Band days of the 50's. Before Laura and I were married, we use to go with her parents to Big Band dances most every weekend, Christal chandeliers and all. It was a "dress up" occasion.

I will check out the bungalow boys on YouTube.

Just came in from bushhoging. Time for NASCAR. Go #18!

Afternoon all.  Had big home coming at Church today.  Great music and great food.  Getting things rounded up to head to the lake house.  Going to paint the Ranger boat barn like I did the house.  Get that sprayer out and go.  Then I am going to fish as weather is really a little warm for Oct.  Got to be back by Wed. noon as another video shoot.  Everyone behave while I'm gone.  Later.

Hey guys - just talked to Dad and he is home.  He had just awakened from a nap, nothing like your own bed!  Talked with Char this morning for a while.  She's getting a little better, but still on a clear liquid diet.  She can't really do anything and it's starting to bother her.  Last time she was so sick that the time just passed, but she's well enough this time that she is getting bored out of her gourd.

Kids cleaned the house and I've done laundry all day and just took it easy really.  I feel exhausted, but a little better today.

Fife,

I am also wondering where 88 went.  I'd give him a call, but judging by the last time we talked, he seemed to go to extreme lengths to shorten the call.Wink

Not much going on today.  I was going to buy the 332 that I've been looking at last night, but someone beat me to it.  At least the Greenberg show is next month, so I could look there if needed.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Very relaxing day.  Went to see newest granddaughter's baptism.  Had a nice visit with all the kids.  Came home and took a nice nap.  Will be watching "Desperate Housewives".  I have the day off tomorrow and will be enjoying that as well.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL after the show and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Sunny and 80's here today.

Mixed bag this weekend.  Supposed to have been a three day weekend for me, except that a last minute production schedule change pushed my sample run into today Grumpy.

Hardest bit of news was finding out on my weekly visit to the LHS that the owner's 6 year old son had a brain tumor removed about a week ago.  So far, so good.  Still, it would not hurt to keep the little guy in your thoughts & prayers.

For the upbeat part of the weekend, here are some snapshots of a visitor that was in town yesterday:

I've got a little bit of video just outside of town running maybe 50 mph on a slight downgrade through a crossing.  Got to figure out how to get it off of the camera and onto the computer so it can be shared.

All for now.

Good Evening

A beautiful day in the 80s.

Missed my nap, the Detroit Lions WON a football game. 44 to 6. Poor St louie I'd be ashamed to go home.... The announcer said the last time Detroit got that many points was in 1995. The TTOS show was the same as always except for one table. He had new Hogwarts coachs for $15, I only bought one as I think six is enough. Banilla is ready and I'm waiting for Brutus and the thingy.

Evening all!

Been really busy the last week and no time to post or catch up. Lots to do before heading for York on first flight out Tuesday. Looks like PA will have a bit of  rain during York.

Brutus - prayers for Char Angel

Pat , Doug, Fifer - I have been practicing the guitar for 40 years and for some unknown reason it does not get better. Maybe I need a better guitar?

8ntruck - The 844 was here earlier this year. Great pics.

Hope all are well.

Good evening all,

Thunderstorms rolled in earlier and are lingering a little bit - I love it.  A very peaceful day following a great church service.  The Dolphins were off this week so I did not watch much football.  Checked out the baseball games off and on.  Spent some time pulling weeds and relaxing with the Sunday paper.

S.J. - I was shocked when I saw that Detroit score.  I hope the folks up there don't start a riot or anything.

Brutus - Glad to hear some positive news.  Continued prayers for your family.

8n - Prayers for the little boy's continued good progress.

Time to relax with the wife.

Good night,

Joe
