Smile[true story...neighbor who was laid off had open heart surgery in december and worked 37 years as heavy duty truck mech, was denied unemployment.  had nothing.  we helped them with food.  was at a gas station with wife and brother in law pumping gas and helped a man with a gas can by pumping in five gallons.  said he was out of gas and had no money.  when he got back in car, wife asked, who he was talking to, she swore there was no one there.  a week later, bruce got his ss disability approved and got his union pension also.  do good to others.  you never know who you are helping.  trains beat going to bars ladies.  remember that about us guys.  navyjack

Aloha all. Grey and humid - feels 'stormy' - like something's coming on but nothing yet. Supposed to get cool later this week.  Prayers for Rich's job interview today...probably begins in a couple of minutes. Nice conversations last night with Brutus, Pappy, Sir J and Charlie. Feel free to join us on Yahoo Messenger. Got a couple of things to try to accomplish today - look into gutter covers - how they work; soundproofing an outlet between kid's rooms; getting a bike gear fixed. . .

Battening Down The Hatches On Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

Since Chief is off the air for a few days I got to wondering where his lake house is relative to the NC coastline and the hurricane.  Anybody know?  Rolesville is at least 100 miles off the Atlantic coast.

And Fife.....what do you do with your yacht?  Pull it from the water?

Day before yesterday in Gloucester MA 12 miles North of here 13 people had to be rescued from the water.....some due to rip tides and others swept off the rocks while (amateur) fishing.  One fisherman didn't make it.  Great White sightings have fallen off the radar for the time being.  Strong rip current warnings at all of the beaches today.

Sunny and clear with temps forecast in the mid 90s again.  We've been getting hurricane warnings/hurricane news/hurricane history here nonstop 24/7 now for the past 3 days.  Not much has changed with the predictions.....Cape Cod and the Islands will be hit with the worst of it as they get "rimmed" while the eye should pass about 100 miles East out over the Atlantic.  Arrival late tonight.  NH and ME campgrounds close to the coast (like Old Orchard Beach ME) are pretty full, but I suspect may be cleared out for safety reasons.

I live about 110 miles North/Northwest of the entrance to Cape Cod and a mile off the water, and I should expect sustained winds of 40mph +, high tides, heavy rains, with coastal and local flooding.  To be safe, I'll be tying down the deck furniture and some other details.  In 1991, Boston/me got hit with nearly a direct hit, Hurricane Bob with winds hitting 100mph, lost power, and spent a quiet and romantic sanity-challenging evening by candlelight with the wife and kiddies.

MikeC.....you da man with your observations on your granddaughter!!!!  Prayers the Docs' wait and watch approach is successful.

Later, gang.

Jack.

Happy 9/2...

Still not feeling well and, true to form, I have a job interview at 11AM...and now I can't sleep.  GO figure...Bang Head

Finally got my CTT delivered to NJ and perused the contents...looks interesting.

Also gave blood today for our injured firefighter.  He is concious and alert.  One of the guys had a cell phone video and he's looking forward to getting back in the swing.  Good attitude will do wonders for his recovery...

Being unemployed, I'm also on Earl watch...may wind up at the firehouse for a time.  But, we'll see....

Fire Drill tomorrow night....maybe I'll learn sumthin'..Smile, Wink & Grin.

If I don't get back, be safe my fellow East Coasters, and have a safe Labor Day...

Hey John, if you're not on call, are you going to Wildwood?  T-Minus 14 days and counting...Smile, Wink & Grin.

See ya later...

Good evening Y'all!  Mike, no, they still won't listen to you!  It is just how they are programmed.

I have not had any issues with multiple emails, In fact, I notice tonight that the box on the bottom is not checked for me to "uncheck" it.  Hope it stays that way.
Chief, hope you have safe travels and a good time up there.

Well, had another interview for the movie tonight.  Of course this follows two days have long cases and hours to boot.  It went well, and everyone was happy with the result....at least that is what I am going with before they edit the piece.  Still, it was fun and the guy asked a number of good, thought provoking questions.

I have another early start in the morning along with a number of cases that will keep me going for quite some time.  Hope to get a little time in with the family before the weekend.  Lots of items on the agenda, so we will see.

Hope each of you is blessed this week.

Good evening all,

I hope everyone is adjusting to the new format well.  So far I have not had any problems, I only need for my eyes to adjust to the new colors and layout.

Had some storms here this evening.  Fortunately I was able to get the grass cut before it started.

I won an eBay auction last week, but have not received the item (Lionel Airplane Hanger) yet even though it should have arrived today.  I sent the seller a note yesterday but have not heard back from them.  I believe the seller might have been a fraud.  I will contact eBay/Paypal tomorrow.  I won another auction tonight, an Ameri-Towne Burke building.  I'm looking forward to building it and these structures seem to be a good size for a smaller layout like mine.

Time to relax with the wife.

Good night,

Joe

Good Evening From The Jersey Shore:

We are on the Prep For The Storm Panic at Work. It looks like that I may be on the work and rest period mode all weekend, depending how hard we get hit or if mutual aid is requested by another electric company in or out of state. For all in Earl's path, may we all fare well along with neighbors and family.

Thoughts and prayers to all in need.

Roy, if you turn it off in your profile, you do not get the email notification "block" at the bottom of your reply.  That way you do not have to worry about unchecking the block.  If you lock it, no one can quote you.

Good morning all, I got bombed with a lot of E mails from the forum this morning.  Info says go to URL and remove request for E mail or something like that if you don't  want to get them.  Deleted on one post I saw but don't know if this takes care of it all the time or not.  I don't mind getting E mail addressed to me but don't need to see what someone else's E mail to another person says.  Sounds like it is none of my business.

Morning/afternoon all!

Hot here and a bit muggy. Maybe some T-Storms later. Can always use rain.

I am not having any problem with e-mails from posts. Just to be sure I turned it off again, but as I stated yesterday - the button is backwards. To me it is green when it is turned off and red when it is turned on which is silly. One has to read the button 5 times (OK 19 for the Chief) to understand this. Just silly. As I said yesterday - a simple "on" or "off" is all that is needed.

Hope everyone is having a great day today!

Regards, Roy

Good Afternoon Ya'll From Sunny, hot, and humid Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

Day #3 of 90 degree + temperatures with tomorrow forecast the same.  If it will make anyone feel any better, today marks 24 days this Summer we have topped 90 in my neck of the woods.  The hurricane is making its way up the coast, so I hope the "HOT AIR" in North Carolina blows it all out to sea.  Usually we just catch the edge and get tropical storm warnings, but the weather computer models still have us listed as "possible but not probable."

Ocean swells at 7 feet right now.  Riptides are particularly bad and rescue personnel have been.....well, rescuing their brains out.  "Stay out of the water" decisions for the riptides have been left to each town's discretion.  Great white shark sightings and hits on seals close to the shoreline continue here, especially off Cape Cod and the Islands......within 20 feet of the water's edge in some instances.  The waters are warm for these parts (low 70s) and the seals are making for a shark feeding frenzy and some gruesome news video.  Many end-of-Summer/Labor Day vacationers are pulling out early and going home before the weekend and the storms hit.

I can't figure out why so many of you are getting all of these unwanted email notices on CTT Forum threads and posts.  Mine were turned off for some time before the maintenance and I'm not getting any......yet.  So I think I will lay low and leave well enough alone for the time being.

If I had half a brain I would have had my car washed when I got to my Vermont camping destination a couple of weeks ago and then again as soon as I got home.  Sure, I had the front fascia clean as a whistle and waxed before we embarked.  But up and back, about a zillion bugs seemed to have committed suicide by getting impaled on the front end of my car and are now proving to be very difficult to remove without a lot of soaking, rubbing, and effort.  Tried bug and tar remover.  Now using hyprogen peroxide.  May try vegetable oil next.  Don't want to use anything too harsh for fear of damaging the front fascia paint.

Later, gang!

Jack.
