Good early morning everyone!  I didn't wake up early...haven't been to bed yet!  Had an emergency which this type of case was one of the biggest we do and so, here I am at 04:15.  Waiting till they get the patient to ICU and then I am out of here!

Jack, actually, they used to send me many, many coupons for free pints of Ice Cream.  He has since retired and living well in Montana.  I have not asked if he still gets the coupons.

Rich, I kind of remember a number of times in Wildwood...you know what I mean!  Have fun and enjoy things.

Will remember Mary Ellen...sorry to hear of her loss.

Had a couple who we are friends with from church.  A few weeks ago, the wife's parents died in a murder/suicide.  It was horrible.  This week, the husband's parents did the same thing.  I have never met the parents, but the couple we know are wonderful and we really hate to see them suffer this much in such a short period of time.  Leaves many questions without any answers.

Well, I am tired.  Hope to catch up later today.
God Bless,
Dennis

This will be a quick one as one of my meds is making me tired (which it is supposed to do). Got back from the scope last night. We had a real frog strangler on the way back and are getting a good one now.

Had an interesting day w/ our rather particular electrical engineer who is attempting to take charge of the adjustment of....a wheel bearing. Things have gotten kind of interesting, but hopefully we can distract him w/ another project.

Going to take the MG block over to a machine shop to have the short block assembled. Should save me some time since I have enough other projects on the cars to do. Hopefully a few suspension parts will go back on the Corvair by Friday. I also rode in Ron's Greenbrier to the club meeting again tonight. I rides nice on the freeway.

anj - glad to hear that FF has good support

Mike C. - put a piece of black tape over the check engine light and it will not bother you as muchBig Smile

Jack S. - did you get to see the Ticonderoga in Shelburne? I have a book about her, but didn't have the time to stop when I was there a couple years ago. She is the last walking-beam side-wheeler in the United States. The really cool thing? She was moved to her current location several miles with the use of rails. Let's see the O-gauge version of that!

Angel for Mary Ellen & Jack

Good Evening from Central Jersey,

Rained the last 2 days, still better than Florida.

Still no job prospects, tomorrow the hunt continues, as I'll be home all day alone.  Mom & Dad are heading to PA for diving.

I've spent the last 3 days taking a dear friend of mine to her Doctors offices.  She's an ex-girlfriend and needs a hand.  Her 2 year old is a handful and a delight.

My Princess started school Monday and so far, so good.  I have high hopes for here.  I'll see her in 10 weeks and it wont be soon enough.  Really miss her.

Dennis, beginning to feel like a real fireman now, gettin back in the swing.  I'll be going to Wildwood for convention in September!!

We have a special assignment Saturday as some WTC Steel will be passing through.  Class A uniforms (FINALLY have mine all together) at 0800m then change and head South to Baltimore for my Exam.

Vermont?  Love the place.  It's been a while but Mount Snow in Springtime was a favorite place to be.  Too cold in winter...and I don't ski

OK, will check back when I can.....Angel all around

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Just a splash and go......

John......prayers for Mary Ellen.  And for those she has left behind.  Some people do so much with so little, setting examples the rest of us should aspire to.

8n......good news on your wife.  I hope she takes it slow and steady.

Joe......isn't it great when the kids look forward to going to school?

Later, gang.

R.I. Jack - Got to have the kids on a schedule.  It's the only way to make sure they are rested enough and wake up on time...oh, and also allow wife and I to keep our sanity.  Babies make great revolutionists.

8N - Glad to hear things are progressing well with your wife.

John - Mary Ellen and her family will be in my prayers.

Mike C. - Kudos to your boys getting their first win.  I'm sure they are very excited.

Me too!  Smile

Nice chats with RT, Doug, SJ and Charlie tonight Thumbs Up  Tardis is ready and we have cupcakes galore still, banilla, and it sounds like some rootbeer?  Let's go!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

Chuck, your PT is a close (very close) second to my Norwegian soccer friend (and I wish I had some pictures to show you), and I can see why you enjoy the sessions.

Keep on training,

Good evening all,

The kids had a great first day of school; I'm glad they enjoy going - so is my wife!  Work was fine, but I had a long meeting to attend.  Those things wear me out more than any manual labor I have ever done.

R.I. Jack - Got to have the kids on a schedule.  It's the only way to make sure they are rested enough and wake up on time...oh, and also allow wife and I to keep our sanity.  Babies make great revolutionists.

S.J. - Had my root beer float early tonight.

I'm off to bed since I have to get up early and drive three hours or so to Altus, OK, for some training.  I will return late tomorrow night.

Good night,

Sunny and 80's today.

Had a follow up appointment with my wife's approach surgeon today.  All is well. One more doctor has fallen off of the 'have to see again' list.  Looks like all we have to do now is to let the 'skelegrow' the doctors applied to her spine do its work for the next couple of months and complete the fusions.

All for now.

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore:

It has been a busy non exciting couple of days. Lately it seems that I have been asking for Prayers for friends and relatives who have passed on. Over the past weekend, the sister of one of the guys that I work with died. She was 53 and she had a brain hemorage. I had never met her and I went to the wake tonight to support Jack, who was taking this hard. What Jack told me about her and how she was his best friend and that she was always doing for others before she did for herself was an understatement about this fine lady. Mary Ellen, it seems was the Neighborhood Mom. She and her husband, don't have much themselves, but they shared what they had with all. The Deacon was doing the Service and he asked for people to share stories. All were from the heart and moving. This one elderly neighbor spoke how 2 weeks ago, it was her grandson's birthday. In tears she related how she, her daughter and son in law, are barely making it on what money they bring in and they could not swing a birthday party for the 7 year old. Mary Ellen and her husband, had a party for him and the entire family and made it seem that it was a surprise party that the Grandmother and parents threw, but had it at her house to surprise him. They would not take a penny and Mary Ellen said that she enjoyed doing it. Everyone who spoke, spoke about her unselfish kind deeds that she never looked for recognition, thanks or praise. Please keep Mary Ellen in your Thoughts and Prayers.

Ray.......that's all the more for the rest of us.  Big Smile

You're welcome to em Jack.  Seriously though, I give you credit for doing a good training job on your dog after reading your later post.  Picking dogs seems to be the same as horse racing.  That's why opinions differ.  Dogs I owned as a kid were aredale (check spelling).  He was killed by a kick from a horse drawn milk wagon.  Next was a cocker spaniel.  She was the best ever.  We also had a couple of sooners and they were good too.  I never owned one but I like to watch Beagles.  They seem like they are always tracking something when people are walking them.  My brother had some deer hunting dogs once but they were wild.  They were not pets.  He got rid of them because they make a big mess if they are in pens to close to the house.  I presently don't own any dogs but might have one if I were alone for company.  Don't really have a good place for one right now.

Good Afternoon Ya'll From Raining and Cool Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

Still in the 60s for day # 4 of the rain, and boy did we need it!  Think the total accumulation for my locale will top 3 inches by the time the front currently stalled off the coast finally moves on.  Seas are running 6' to 12' swells, so the boaters like Fife are probable still sucking down a few at the docks.  Cape Cod has been getting quite a bit of this, and the President's vacation there appears ill timed.  Them waters are great white shark-infested down thataway this year, and I don't mean that in the political sense.  Sitings and beach closings are the norm.

Roy......re the Texas weather.  A couple we met at the VT campground used to live in Texas.  They got sick and tired of the drought and heat.  Sold their home and bought a 40 + foot trailer/home.  They spend 8 months of the year in Vermont and the rest down in Texas and Florida.  I'd hate to have your AC/electric bill!  Shock  Banged Head

Joe......kids and peace/quiet/relaxation?  My daughter and SIL need to follow your example and stick to a schedule with our grandchildren.  When they stay overnight at Grammy and Grampy's, it's lights out at a reasonable hour. no exceptions.  When the grousing commences with the 7 year old, I take out a pen and paper and start keeping track of time......"the later you stay up past your bedtime tonight, the earlier you are going to bed tomorrow night."  Our older (7) grandchild is smart.  After the "Mommy and Daddy let me" argument meets with dismal failure, she realizes she's got to conform to the evil dictators in charge.  Then all goes smoothly.  Newborns and infants, however, don't read the memoes and decrees, don't bluff too easily.  Big Smile

Harold......3 Goldens?  You have a herd!  Re your brother in NH......NH is very much like Vermont the further North and West you go, likewise unspoiled.  Lots of protected state forests and undeveloped.  Beautiful.  My Dad used to say over and over if you can't find the beauty and wonder right here in the USA, it doesn't exist.  I just can't imagine how tough it is having a child with food allergies.  Prayers you and your better half get through this without issue.

Navyjack and Ray......genes, breeding, development, and training.  Pam and I have trained our Dobies (3) alongside scores of (initially) nutcase/dangerous dogs over the past 11 years, all breeds and sizes from 4 pound purse dogs to 200 lb. + Mastiffs and Great Danes.  We have come to truly appreciate and respect the positive impact of responsible breeding and dog ownership.  Folks generally make very poor choices when selecting a dog for their lifestyle. Then they make matters far worse with a lack of training commitment to the dog.  That is when very bad things happen.  Shelters are filled to overflowing with these dogs.  We have also seen what irresponsible breeding has done (negatively) in the US to so many breeds in terms of health and temperment.

Our trainer, who has nearly 40 years of experience with protection dogs, has observed that the desperate people who show up daily on her doorstep treat their dogs like their kids.  She calls them fur-kids.  In the absence of leadership, the dog takes over everything inside and outside of the house.  Some become downright dangerous to those inside and outside of the home.

By the same token, two people with whom we train picked up Dobermans from Doberman Rescue Unlimited in Sandown NH.  Both dogs were previous repeat biters of people and other dogs.  These dogs were trained properly by their new owners.  Both are TDI-certified (Therapy Dog International) and have been doing weekly therapy visits with patients at the VA hospital, the rehab facilities, and the nursing homes.  These dogs literally and fuguratively tolerate everything thrown at them, quietly and safely.  Re the "one person dog" impression......it's all in how you raise and train them.  In our household, our Dobie knows he's way down the pecking order and defers his decisions to whomever is present, on or off leash.  Me.  My wife.  My son.  My daughter and SIL.  We are all on the same page.

Rich.......your positive mental attitude and sense of patience will prevail and reward you on the job front.  Prayers, brother.  You are making a lot of solid choices.

Dennis......had I known you had a friend in Williston VT who is a former officer with Ben and Jerry's, I might have been able to have scored some free ice cream!  I should have consulted you before we embarked on our travel adventure.  Sad

SJ.......I have kept the food fresh and at the ready for you but drank all of the Breakfast Bloody Marys.

Chuck......while I was gone, did I miss the pics you may have posted of your fellow health club participants, the more interesting ones?  Wink

Doug/MikeC......college tuition expenses.  Ouch!!!!  Hope you two have not had to resort to selling your wares on the street to subsidize these crushing expenses.  If so, you both are in deep trouble unless you both garner the sympathy vote.  Smile,Wink, & Grin

Got to run.  Later, gang.  BTW......the beacon will be on tonight, and I'll bring some lobsters with drawn butter.

Jack.

Good morning all,

It is partly cloudy in SE Indiana with temps in the 80s.  "My" soccer girls were absolutely horrible in the second half last night, taking a close 1-0 game and turning it into a 5-0 disaster in a span of five minutes.  After that the other team just sat on the ball.  At least the boys got their first win 3-0.  I did weight machines at the YMCA.  Getting ready to take Lucas back to school.  Only one more year after this one.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car as it rolled in from "Points East".  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Monring all!

Well the lid came off the pressure cooker here. After the 107 day before yesterday it clouded up and got some rain late last night. Woke up this morning to a nice long rain shower. Low 90's predicted rest of this week and into next. Feels kinda chilly.

Youngest here is a junior this year in HS. Drives himself to school. I do not miss the daily gridlock at the school so this is sweet!

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Good morning

Jack I'm on my way, fork in hand.

Cloudy this AM, suppose to clear. Low 80 today.

No CTT has arrived here, I just finished reading the last one about a week ago. lol. Had a hot shot salesmen from Comcast here yesterday, he had a good offer, but I don't like Comcast, no experience I had  with them was good. Told him to come back in an hour. My cable co. matched his price with an 18 month price guarantee. Yea if they hadn't I would have switched. Wednesday is hump day so  I've been told, go to it men..SS $$$.

Aloha from a sunny and cool Chicago where it is also our youngest's first day of school. He is very excited. New shoes. New backpack. New pencil box. Fortunately, no food allergies here. Can't believe how much gear my daughter has to pack to go back to school. It keeps growing. Nice quiet evening spent watching the Sox and old cartoons. Read the new CTT on the train ride in. A nice issue.

And how could I forget: a happy 133rd birthday to our own, Joshua Lionel Cowen. Happy B-Day

Good morning all,

It is sunny and pleasant outside right, great weather for the first day of school.  The wife just took the older two; they normally ride their bikes since we can see the school from our house, but since it's the first day she likes to bring them.

hscsltb - We know how you feel: our daughter is gluten intolerant (allergice to wheat), which means she cannot have anything made with regular flour; and our older son is deathly allergic to peanuts.  Obviously they bring their lunches.  The strangest part is my wife and I have no allergies whatsoever.

Well, I guess it's time to go to work.

Jack, I knocked at 04:30, which is our normal breakfast time.  Guess I should have mentioned that.  Not even the Dobbie was awake!

Currently watching "Workin on the Railroad" that was DVR'd off DIY network.  This episode is by the folks at Kalmbach and on track maintenance.  They are talking of the track cleaning cars by Aztec.

Chief, hope Miss Pam had a good birthday!  How does the paint job on the lake house look?  Glad to see that money they are taking out of my check is going to some good folks as the fools in DC have already spent the money you have put in and it will all be gone by the time I get there.

Have a good day everyone!

Jack, welcome back!  In your absence, we were trying to figure who would host the next large gathering of forum folks, their families and dogs....You were nominated and we didn't hear any objections.....so we will be over tomorrow.  See what happens when you leave town and don't arrange for someone to watch your back!................

Bacon, suasages, ham, hash, and hash browns are warming in the oven with the fresh bread.  Fruit is cut and chilling in the fridge.  Eggs, toast, and blueberry pancakes with Vermont maple syrup are in the cue.  Same with the bloody MARYs.  Where are you guys? Dinner Chef

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 68 degrees. Going up to 82 today with some sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have to finish a project and take care of the usual chores. My legs are a little achy from PT yesterday. I notice they feel better since the humidity went down. That's a plus.

Dining car is here and we are having an omlet for breakfast. Sure wish I had one of navyjack's blueberry muffins to go with it.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.
