Today was another pretty good day. Still moving slowly of course as it's pretty sore still. Been "bayonnetted" 5 times basically. I didn't move the seats, just passed the cash over and opened up the backs doors of the Corvair. Nancy is a very good friend. She went back to Tempe this afternoon after making sure I was set up with everything.
I found wearing my coveralls is more comfortable right now than the Carhartt jeans, so I just picked up a couple more sets. Wearing this abdominal binder which helps as well. Nancy calls it my "man girdle".
Going to run the trains and put some radio stuff up on ebay this week. Otherwise, just lay low.
Thanks for all the well wishes.

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s. With wife gone, catching up on some old video of races and soccer games I had been meaning to watch. I had bran muffins on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL any time. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from the Jersey Shore,
Vacation this week. Waiting for my wife and son to get up. We are taking my son to the NJ State Police Youth Week this morning or should we call it Boot Camp.
Brutus, Good luck with the basement project. Plumbing is fun. lol
Ray, Good find on the layout.
Dennis, The kids come first. They are only young so long.
Green97probe, Jim, If you make it to the meet, I will see if I can get my brother in law Ray to come. He is into AF also. He posts on the forum on other topics as AF53.
Joe, I am glad that you remembered the It's A Boy car.
SJ, We did Chilli's last night and stopped at the Ice Cream Shop for some Banilla.
Jelectric, John, Look forward to meeting you.
Buckeye, I am taking the next 2 weeks off on vacation. That means a dip in their SS because of no OT.
Dougdagrump, Great looking cake. I am sure that the kids and the "Big Kids" had a good time as well. I know that I would.
Don, I am glad that you had a good birthday and you have not lost your sense of humor. I have 2 years 1 month and 9 days until I retire.
Bob, Speedy Recovery
Chief, You are always on the go. Good luck with the console.
Mike C, Thanks for sending the Dining Car. I am waiting for it. It must still be at Chuck's.
Prayers and Thoughts for all in need.
John
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 70 degrees. Going up to 88 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have an errand to run and the usual chores to do. Then, this afternoon, I will work out at the Fitness Center. Walking and the bike will be on the menu. Legs are stiff today.
Dining car is here from "Points West". Cheerios for breakfast. Then, it is bound for the Jersey Shore.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Chuck
Good morning everyone. I am on call, wife left for work and on the one morning I could sleep late, son is up before 0700. Oh well, its all good. Someday, I will long for the thought of alone time with each child....you know, when they are teenagers and know more than parents and certainly don't want to hang with them.
So Don is officially retired? Guess that means the rest of us have to scrap any vacations as we now have another SS we need to support! Just kidding, you have earned this. Hope you have a smooth transition and take lots of time to run trains! Just don't let your mind be idle.
Bob, glad to see you are progressing in your recovery. That Nancy seems special....keep her around! Will continue with prayers heading your way.
Hudson, have a good vacation. I have a few friends on the NJSP. It seems like a good group to work with. From what I recall, start up pay is a struggle, but quickly gets to a livable wage.
Hope each of you is doing well.Dennis

Aloha all from a humid Chicago. Back to work from the Upper Peninsula where I took the youngest to our church camp. Boy, it's a long drive. We were fortunate in weather and wildlife.Nothing like the energy of 60 7-8 year olds - and their dads. Here he is running along the beach in Manistique before we headed into the woods: Mr Baker!

Morning all. Real drozey this AM. Slept till 8:15 and could have slept longer. So did the two little "criminals" [Finn and Lucy]. Burg could care less. Got to get ready to go to County Commissioners in a few. Want to mow grass before going. Cloudy. High yesterday was 78. Yes, 78. Will go back to being hot [close to 100] by mid week. Finn is acting up and Lucy wants a rest. Finn is really getting big.
Glad to see Bob is running on all 6 Corvair cylinders.
Is the CTT gathering in August going to be in Maryland??? Hope it does not include a Yatchet. Not intrested in going on the SS Minnow. Got things to do at home and do not want to be stranded on an island with Fifey.
Got to go for now. BTW: nice cake Doug.

I agree navyjack is a true gentleman, but after shake and bake's comments jack may have trouble getting his hat on. By the way, navyjack has a birthday tomorrow, 8/3. MR. NAVYJACK!
Chief - Liked the work train video.

Wow you guys are real pals willing to take second and third jobs just to help the old folks.
Yep a great bunch of guys.
Posting from work. Yes, it is my first day back to work in over three weeks. I am now back in my normal routine just with less sleep. I went for a 2-mile run this morning. I usually run more but since I was on leave I was not running. It is hot again here: over 100 for the next few days with some rain possible on Wednesday.
Hudson - Enjoy your vacation.
Back to work,
Joe
No time to get caught up on the posts yet which are coming fast and furious. Wakes and funerals take a lot out of me. Lots of miles driven this weekend. Regarding the funeral of our dear friend up in Maine Saturday, I was asked to be a pall bearer. I was stunned but honored, so many more deserving than I.
All seems well with Bob, 8N's wife, and SJ's wife as well. Rich's adventure continues. The prayers must be working and, coming from this crew, it is my opinion that SOMEONE must be listening and answering, if only yo get rid of us!!!!
Jack.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Almost forgot..... Navyjack!!!! 36 is it?
If you get a b-day present like something that runs on three rails, don't let the cat out of the bag and tell wifey you don't need any more train stuff.
Jack
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAVYJACK
This is who I wanted to send to you for your birthday wish ...
but money is tight so you ended up this one .............
dbaker48 All of the greetings were addressed as -- old geezer, Oldest California Geezers, Bake n' Shake, Calfornia Dreamer Don, Old Codger, and even buddy, the most common being Don, or dbaker, the last three of course are very courteous and well placed
I called you buddy because you are a fellow left coaster. There aren't that many of us out here to answer all the slings and arrows from the other side of the country.
NavyJack, Happy birthday tomorrow!
We are baby sitting my #1 son's bird this week. He is a male cockateel and a pain in the butt if you don't let him out of the cage once in a while. I've got him sitting on a dresser next to me while I'm on the pot and he is happy looking at himself in the mirror for now. He seems to be shedding some feathers. Maybe its time for that? Don't know much about birds.
Looking forward to getting my Z4000 transformer back from MTH. Should be here today. Its already late.
Been too hot in garage to mess with trains much after 10:00AM.
Have a good week y'all

What happened to TIMBOY? Have not heard any more about his "dis"struction of his layout.

Cheapclassics , Congratulations on a new grand daughter. Any trains yet?
8N, glad to hear Mrs and FIL seem to be on the mend. More prayers.
Subbob, Same for you.
Phish, Big Congas on 32 years. Mrs and I will celebrate 35 this fall.
A belated Happy Birthday to dbaker and navyjack.
Hudson. Can’t recommend any thing on accommodations. You’ll want to see the Gallitzen Tunnels while in the area, just west of the Curve. There is also the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona. It is geared more to the life of the people who worked for the railroad. You may want to check out the Portage Railroad in Cresson. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. They used to bring Canal Boats to Duncansville and put them on a railcar pulled by steam drive cables to get them over the mountain and back in the water. Altoona also has the AA affiliate of the Pirates if you’re into baseball. The East Broadtop Railroad is about an hour east. They still operate steam but I’m not sure of the schedule. Don’t forget to see????. I’m drawing a blank It’s in Shartlesburg Pa(north of Lancaster) I may think of more
Fife. I stopped to wave on the 25th,One of Maryland’s finest thought I was having car trouble. He said I made a bigger traffic jamb. I said “No I’m looking for Fife.” He wasn’t happy, said he didn’t know you and made me move on. Seriously I did see a big boxy looking ship. Never saw one like it. Almost as high as it was long. Any idea what it was? RE a get together. Where are you near? I may try to hook up with you.
Dweimer. How goes it with the drug addicted son?

Have been busy over the summer so far.
Chief, sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. If it helps any my aunt in Reading Pennsylvania died on thursday of this past week, my dad's younger brother's second wife. Also had to put down one of our cats three weeks ago, as she had a very serious desease.
Been to Bachmann's website and still don't know when to expect the Platinum Club Car for 2009, the Plasticville tank car, it's almost a full year since I ordered it(pre-paid). Let's hear it!! Three booo's for ordering from a catalog!!
Still don't know what's up with the house re-finance!

Good Evening
85 and humid.
Oh Timboy has a Flyer thread he keeps adding to it so it will get bumped back to page one. We had grilled burgers tonite with tomato slices as large as the plate. Oh so good. The Lionel beacon is humming and banilla is ready....S.J.
Happy Birthday Navyjack
Evenin' boys. Kinda overcast and 81 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Chief - Will let you know date, time (thinking 3-ish), and place (NO, not the yatchet) as soon as I hear back from Rich.
Banks - Outside the beltway northeast of Baltimore.
Banks,
No problem. I could live in that store. Did you happen to notice if there still was a Flyer handcar in the glass case near the register? My folks are going back to Assateague in a few weeks (not sure if I will go again this time), and I might have to give them some money and a list. I've tried calling, but the line is always busy. Come to think of it, the lady that works there was on the phone the majority of both times I was in there...
Forgot to mention roaming the Escanaba yard on the way back. The Soo steamer under shed looked pretty good. Most of the old MILW stuff is gone or more likely repainted for Wisc. Ctrl. Saw a lonnnng train with a cool GTW MP15AC pushing at the end. Lots of ore cars and hoppers strewn randomly about on sidings in the middle of nowhere further up in the UP. And saw the biggest dang gons ever - wood chip cars. I wonder if anyone has ever made them in O? Happy happy Happpy happy Pre-Birthday to NavyJack.
Good Evening from the Jersey Shore, 71, Cloudy, was a beautiful day
We got our son off to his week at "Boot Camp". The Instructors did great breaking their chops. After they were marched of the Captain and a Sargeant explain to the nervous parents what was going on. I got some nice photos from the opening "ceremony", but as soon as I can figure how to post, I will post a few. I have 1 with an instructor in his face. This experience will help him decide for sure if he wants to be a NJ State Trooper.
After dropping him off, I did NOTHING, except relax and research my trip to Horseshoe Curve. I started feeling guilty because my son really wants to go. I decided to postpone it. This week I will replace the 7 year old sump pump and battery back up with a new improved unit that I saw at Lowes and work on my 26' Wahoo Center Console. The fall Albies and Stripers will be here soon along with the Jumbo Blues.
Fife, Great info on the Station Inn. It will be our choice. Thanks
Banks, Thank you also. The place with the mental block is Roadside America, in Shartlesville. We have been here many times. My wife likes the Kuntztown Fair.
Chuck, Thanks for sending the Dining Car. Rice Krispies was on the menu.
Dennis, My daughter and son both like to be with me when they were/are teens. I was at my daughters, 26/married, for dinner tonight and she remarked how she liked to hang with me as a teen, but felt funny with my wife until she was 18/19. My son, 17 wants to go everywhere with me. I am pretty certain that he will be a good fit with the NJSP. A few of my friends were Troopers. Retired now, 55 age max.
SJ, You are right about the "idjits" in DC. We are working 2nd and 3rd jobs to pay bills.
Doug, Great beach scene. I think that they all enjoyed themselves. I see that you did not miss the trains on the way home. 7th sense.
Chief, Relax, Fife may be the Skipper, but on a sail boat I am Gilligan.
Buckeye, Forget about the SS. We need 2 jobs to survive.
Pat, We finally have nice ripe Jersey Tomatoes in the Garden. The reason why they taste so good is a secret ingredient. I think that it is toxic waste.
Joe, Work, Good thing or Bad Thing??
Jack, Being asked to be her Pall Bearer is an Honor.
Ole Timer, How much did the second "girl" pay you?
Ray, Cockatiel, a guy at work has a couple of them and they drive me nuts whenever I am over his house. His wife and him love them. I always thought thought that he was nuts.
Lee, Good Luck with the refinance. They are tough to deal with now.
SJ, Lets head for the Banilla
Thoughts and Prayers for everyone in need.
Spent some time in the garden this evening. Trying to keep ahead of weeds. We really need some rain.
Probe, Not 100% sure but I believe it was there on Thursday last week when I was there.
Past my bedtime, off to bed.
Prayers for all who may need them.
hello guys thanks for the birthday wishes. chief thanks for the yachet humor. it gave me a chuckle. navyjack
Evenin' All.
, NavyJack !
John, Toxic waste or Jimmy Hoffa ?
Got my goodies packed and ready for tomorrow. Free Tuesday, should be very crowded again. Taking my MTH 4-6-0's, one passenger & one freight (lots of smoke ), and my Lionmaster Challenger with the woodside reefers.
Have been watching some coal dump cars on E-Bay for a possible halloween project and almost fainted when a L.I. car, K-Line by Lionel, went for $235. I know there hasn't been a lot of LI stuff done but that is just nuts.
Time to fix some dinner, momma is at BUNCO tonite so chili dogs sound good tonite. Wish we had Whitecastles out here.
For all in need.
Later all.

Thanks. Hopefully, it'll still be there. There was also a rougher one on the shelves by the Flyer stuff. I might have to bring bought of them home. Is the HO that you got there Gilbert? I saw the HO, but didn't look closely. I was too busy drooling over the entire left wall.
NavyJack,
Happy birthday before I forget (again).
