Morning all.  Cooler and less humidity.

Navy, Doug has a great looking family.  Hats off to him and his wife for adopting those kids.  I think adoption is one of the greatest services to "mankind".  Dennis has done the same thing and now Brent is on the way.

Fifey, don't think I can make the gathering.  Wanted too but have an "obligation" that came up.  Thinking seriously of making fall York.  How many of this gang are going to York this fall?  Got my "forms" in the mail this week.

Off to Miss Edna's [been a long time since I went on Sat.].

Lake House outside shutters came in.  Pam has paint for them in this color.  HD had shutters but they said, "Not Paintable".  ????  Had to special order paintable ones [same price].  They came in and are primer color.  They were almost $20 a pair cheaper than Lowes.

School [that is not "year around"] starts back here in a week.  That means it starts back in PA.  That means LAZ will stop shoveling coal and start teaching.  Did he say this is his last year before "retardment". Laugh

Speaking of "retardment".  I do appreciate all you hard workers out there paying in on SS.  Gave me the funds to have insulation blown in the attic of the lake house to R30.  Enough funds left over to possibly buy a new engine at Miss Edna's and still some left over.  It is really nice of you guys.  Next month I might buy a new rifle and scope. Whistling

Later.

Aloha all. Glad you're recovering well, Bob. Congrats on your reinstatement, RichFife, lots 'o cars at Menards - not the one you want. Have another to check out after speaking to the staff. Took the youngest to work yesterday as our school was hosting a rooftop picnic in the heat of the day.

He wore me out. Walked around the city. He helped me 'work' - took a water taxi to cool off. Looks like a catch-up day today. The bride was invited to consider running a major ministry at church - as a volunteer - and we have to find some time to talk about it - as well as pray about it. Hope everyone can enjoy the weekend.

Morning everyone.  Actually, it is a Great morning as we are enjoying some cinnamon rolls as a family.  Kids got up early and everyone is happy.  Did morning prayer/reading/quiet time, and yes, a number of you are in my prayers.  Also got an email from a friend who is doing well in a struggle...it is heart warming to see good guys win!

I won't even mention heat...here in south west Georgia, it is a way of life.  I do have to get the tractor going and take care of the lawn.  We have had a lot of afternoon rainstorms and so the grass has taken off.  Also have to tackle the bushes....if I can get the hedge trimmer started.

Chief, glad you were able to get the lake house painted.  It is a nice place and should look its finest.  I am sure Miss Pam will be happy with it too.

I had better go.  Got a full day of things here.
God BLess,
Dennis

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 74 degrees. Going up to 90 today with thunderstorms in the forecast.

Today is an easy day. I have a few things to do and then I will relax. I want to read for awhile and run trains, later. Nascar races from Michigan, both days, this weekend.

Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Thanks Brutus.  You are right on Geraldine.  That was a good comedy time.  You had others like Red Skeleton, Jacky Gleason and Lucy and Desi.

Off to bed.  Sleep tight.

SJ - I thought it looked like Lily Tomlin, but I was not sure about the Laugh In role.

wrm - Glad to hear your daughter's procedure went well and I hope her recoverey is speedy.  I can totally relate to your heat issues, it was another 100+ day here.

I'm looking forward to the weekend and having some downtime with the family.  There's a chance for rain on Sat and Sun which suits me just fine.  We can occupy ourselves indoors playing games and hopefully running trains.

Just curious - Did anyone purchase the R30 MTA Subway set from the 2009 Lionel catalog?  If so, has it arrived and what do you think of it?  I would like that set to be under the tree this Christmas; I've been giving the wife hints since I received that catalog.

Good night,

Joe

Flip was Geraldine, "The Devil made me do it!"  Personally, I liked Lilly.  She was good in a few movies too, with Steve Martin and Dolly Parton, etc.  Was Flip in movies?  What ever happened to Flip?

HOT in STL today.  No real news - worked, went out to eat, fell asleep, woke up and talked to RT, now I'm talking with SJ and watching Hogan's Heroes with the family.  Good for a Friday night :)

Tardis is ready - see you guys in a little while Thumbs Up

Good afternoon everyone.  It has been a good day.  Had to go in and do some rounds, then a case and home.  Picked up kids and all is well.  Wife should be home soon and looking forward to dinner.

Bob, great that you are up and getting around.  Hope the progress continues.  I hear there is supposed to be a great view of Mars this month as well as a meteor shower putting on quite a show.

NavyJack, sounds like a number of folks are rallying to your cause on the OGR forum.  Wish I was closer to be there too.  Kudos to everyone helping you out and also to you in getting a layout.  Though the guys are from OGR, please have them take some photos to share here.  Also, I am sure that OGR would like to do a photo spread as both they and CTT have been supportive of troops and those serving.

God BLess,
Dennis

NavyJack.....these same vets may be able to make some solid suggestions about finding the Doc.  Re the A/C, they should all be on sale if a new one is in your forecast.....end of summer sales on these items.

My Lord Chief!  Don't kill yourself painting in that heat.  Glad to hear you survived it.

Navy Jack, great news about getting help for a layout.  Hope it works out good for you.  If I lived near you, I would gladly help too.

No trains last night for Thursday night friends.  Too hot and other things going on too.  Wife and I went out to eat instead.  Our #2 son is out of town until Saturday night.  Went to car race near Salinas I think.

Have a good day,

Ray

 Hello all,

Quick sip this morning.

Nice picture frames I saw earlier.

Navyjack, Hope this works out and you can run trains. Did you get your A/C fixed?

We got one inch of rain the night before last. Thankful for that but we need several more. Slowly. Thought about hauling water for garden. Went to look at the creek and there isn't enough water to put the pump in.

Busy weekend ahead. I'll try to stop back.

Prayers for all who may need them.

Morning all.  New paint sprayer is the greatest.  Easy to clean too.  Did get too hot yesterday.  Had "sweat rag" tied around forehead.  Got so full it was dripping sweat into my eyes.  Clothes were soaked as if I had fell in the lake.  I finally had to quit and go inside.  Later had cramps.  They said cold front was coming through and rain.  Did not rain close to us.  Roseyville had over an inch the night before.  Ponderosa missed it all.  Cooling back down to normal for NC [high 80's to low 90's].  Been hottest summer on record in NC.

Got a call from the ole guy in the UK this AM.  Seems he has to dodge the rain drops to get to the pub in a few.  5 hours difference in time.

Got to get some coffee now and get ready to go to Town Hall and meeting.

Bob, go eat a "bait" of pork bar-be-que.  NO DON'T.

Have a good day [Ignore Jack], later

Mornin' boys.  A cool 75 with lingering showers in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Skies really opened up last night.  RAVENS looked good last night.  Panthers gonna have a looooong season.

Also on the sports front, looks like Buck Showalter is the real deal.  He's got the O's playing for their baseball lives.  Classy of him to wear 26, and he reminds me a little of Earl Weaver.

Well, gonna get a haircut this morning.  Certainly hope it doesn't take all day like Dennis's physical.  Can you sit buddy Confused

HOME AGAIN.  Chat later.  [houe painted white in 106 heat indexes]

And what a taskmaster Chief was with the painters, had them working all day in the hot broiling sun, no breaks.  It is my understanding the painters can't do any fishing now because of heat stroke and dehydration..  He even had them paint all the dogs and the John Deere white to match the house.  Wait till SHE finds out!!!  Wink Whistling

Pretty good day today. Doing fairly well on the hill. My internals are still getting used to the new arrangement, but otherwise things are ok.

We went on top of the 'scope tonight to watch the Perseids. We saw a number of good ones.

Finally finished reading the July issue of Trains tonight during dinner. During the operating season I read them faster than they can get to me. In the summer they come faster than I can read 'em.

Good Morning from Rainy Central NJ,

Been busy, had 2 interviews and plenty of fire calls in between.  Entertained a friend and her 2 year old daughter yesterday, much fun.

Well, it's official, I'm back in the fire dept.  They waived the 6 month probationary period cause I've been a member before. Took 'em all of 5 minutes.  One of the guys said he was surprised it took THAT LONG to vote me back in.  I was very happy and pleased that I was given a Past Asst. Chief''s badge, a new hat badge and gold name plate for my uniform.  When I was an assistant chief, I never had this much gold.  Except for my daughter being here and a job, it's been so great to be home.

Weather has been rainy and in the 70's.  Gray day today, but it's all good.

Not much with the trains today....John, call me Sunday, as I plan to be in Edison that day as well.  Would love to meet up with you and your son.

That's all for now, gonna hit the rack and get some shut eye for sure.

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Another sunny triple digit day today.

Day 1 for the Missouri State Fair today.  Probably not going to make it to the fair this year.  Too hot and too much for my wife at this time.  No problem, the fair is an anual event - there is always next year.

Think I get outside yet tonight and do some meteor watching.  These are the Persoids (or something like that), aren't they SumBob?

All for now.
