Evenin' All.
Have a safe & sane 4th all, saw a blurb where somebody lost an arm today or yesterday from in-appropriate use of fireworks. In Ca ALL fireworks are illegal, no talk yet of amnesty in the future.
Been a very long week, almost finished with preparations for tomorrow. The wives will be down to join us for lunch(picnic), I'll be grilling up some bacon cheeseburgers and some big dogs. The others will be bringing baked beans, tater salad, apple pie and ice cream.
Got the special train ready, unfortunately came up a bit short on some of the "bits-n-pieces" needed for a special layout addition for tomorrow. Hopefully the substitutions will look ok.
Been runnin' all day, time to start closing down for beddy-bye. Will be up early-early, lots to do before the museum opens.

Mike! You can drive man! Let's get moving, I'm worn out and can't stay up too late this time
Worked 5 OT and then put in about 4 hours on the yard since it has dried up nicely in the trees & etc. But, the heat was getting to me, so I took a lot of breaks. Nice chat with SJ tonight and we're both looking forward to tomorrow and all the fun with our families
Ciao!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evening all,
My bride is working night shift in the ER tonight and the grandkids are with the other grandparents this weekend. After supper I finished in the garden and cut grass. A lot of folks in the neighborhood are setting off fireworks and it has our dog scared.
Man the camping trip last week was great. PRAISE GOD for fantastic weather! Only glitch was when one of the kids left the faucet running the bath and it flooded the basement of the camper. No big deal everything will dry out.
Roy – What part of Tennesee are you going to?
Jack – I agree, I think that while you are driving that is what you should be doing, driving. Not texting, eating drinking, shaving reading putting on make-up. It is crazy. I was driving Wednesday and the posted speed limit was 70. I was doing 70 and some teen sped past me with no hands on the wheel texting!
Prayers for all!
May God bless
Jim
Evening all. Came home this evening instead of tomorrow AM. Got the big 4th celebration tomorrow afternoon. Now wifey has invited folks to come and have hot dogs [I have to cook]. I also have to do the start of the 4th celebration. Only a few folks. Got a message on answering machine on person is bringing 6. Will end up having to cook for about 50 or so. Wifey is so considerate.
Hudson, did not know you were a VF. Hats off. I was one for 16 years before I moved to Rolesville.
Jack, Boston Pops? A new soft drink?
Later [I'm hungry as no dinner and it is here].

Good evening everyone. Was a good day here. Sleep over for son's birthday went well. Kids had fun and we had a water balloon fight this morning. Only casualty was that daughter had one break in the bathroom off the den....water up to 4ft high on three walls. Still, fun was had by all. Following lunch, we all went swimming and now, after the kids had their baths, it is time for an early sleep.
Mike, thanks about the movie. Funny thing is how after making movies, you never look at another movie the same. I find myself dissecting every part...quality of the story, camera angles, etc. Hard to just enjoy a flick these days.
Several have talked about it, but it is worth repeating. Hope everyone has a SAFE holiday. Fireworks are better left to the professionals, if you drink, do so responsibly. If you take the family out onto the water....keep a careful eye out for the kids.
God Bless,Dennis

Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. Spent the day staining all the outdoor play equipment. Not sure it did any good. It is semi-transparent or maybe all transparent. Last night mowed the yard, took a shower and then took wife to see "The Last Airbender". Not a bad flick. Not quite like one Dennis would do, but still a good story. Vitor did not have a good qualifying run for Watkins Glen and will start 17th. Penske starts the top three. Only good aspect is that Swiss Miss will start ahead of the Princess. Tired. Taking it easy. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL and it looks as if it will be just SJ and me. Lots of banilla and zucchini bread. I hope everyone (especially the red white and blue ABC Supply team) has a good day today and tomorrow.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good evening
No one around, not suprised it's really nice here at 86 drgrees. Planning to head out to the patio soon. Number one son has invited over for a cookout tomorrow so I guess we will make the five minute trip to their house. Banilla is ready and if anyone is still thirsty, root beer for all....S.J.

happy fourth of july.....in keeping with modern practice, the local community is having fireworks over the lake tonight. i will have to watch it on tv, but i get to hear them and hold my grandson. trying to win some more die cast cars. i would like to win a 67 camaro, and a kharman ghia. both cars are from my past. i do have a 50 mercury. take care guys navyjack
No one tells me anything. So for the moment there are no formal plans over the weekend that I know of.
I love fireworks displays, and all of our local towns have them. Some last night but most this year will be tonight and tomorrow night. Getting to these affairs and parking is another matter, as is getting out of there.
Tomorrow night is the 4th of July concert on the Boston Esplanade with the Boston Pops at the Hatch Shell, followed by the massive fireworks, all televised nationally and locally. We usually stay at the ranch, fire up the grill, and have a few friends over plus family, then crank the surround sound and watch the Boston show on tv. We went down into Boston one year via public transportation along with 550,000 other people for the afternoon and then dinne, the concert, and then the fireworks. Hot, packed in like sardines, and almost didn't make the commuter rail back home. One of those things you do once for the extravaganza to say you have done it and never do again.
Party hearty!
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Good Afternoon from the Jersey Shore, A beautiful day.
We went to the parade in Pine Beach this morning. A good turn out for paraders and onlookers as well. It seems that there were more in previous years, but they had to have it on Saturday because of a town ordance about prohibiting parades on Sunday. Ocean Gate tomorrow. They are usually back to back.
Getting ready to go to our niece's wedding at 2:30.
Boy is this a tough crowd. Staging the EMT crew at the end if the poor guy's driveway. Not a bad idea though.
Rich, I hope that you made it to Jersey without any problems.
John
Prayers and thoughts for all of those in need.

HAPPY 4TH EVERYBODY ! ! !
Algae is threatening the 3,000 gallon kiddie pool! Got up early to scrub, swap out water, vacuum, and add some algaecide. I must be brain dead to have all of these isuues with a kiddie pool. Will shock it tonight after all have gone home and run the filter 24/7 until I can take a water sample to the pool store after the 4th weekend. Will keep it covered when not in use.
Told my wife I think too many little ones peed in it last weekend and I think she bought it. So my reputation is safe for the time being.....
Jack (not of all trades)
Happy 4th weekend to all

Good morning
Doug, needle nose pliers. Caught in the lip just unhook it.
Another beautiful day. Going to 86. I had my first real BLT of the season this morning. Ahh very good. We have no special plans for the day, granny has some soreness around her eye but I would expect that to be normal, shes doing great. I got her a pair of blurry glasses so when we get close I'll still look like she's use to. lol. Have a great dad, stay safe, Brent stay off the ladder.....S.J.
Aloha from a beautiful Crystal Lake where it's that rare day where I have nothing that I have to do... oh, I'll think of something in a moment, but I'm in no hurry. Had a delightful day yesterday working the morn, then training-hopping home to visit Chicagoland Hobbies in Norwood Park and Games Plus and Bikes&Trains in Mt. Prospect. Didn't buy anything but it was fun to browse and walk the neighborhoods before the next train. Sounds like a delightful day, Joe. I took the youngest out to the lake and he 'fished' last night - I couldn't touch anything because I'm unlicensed. I'll try to rectify that today for my teen who at least has the gear and wouldn't mind taking his brother. Where's Buckeye or the Chief when I need them with fishing questions, like "How do I get the fish I'm going to catch off the hook?" It'll be fun figuring it out.

Mornin' boys. Still a pleasant 63 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Working on the car today. And laundry. And grocery shopping. Looks like boat needs new batteries (just won't hold charge).
#2 princess did well yesterday (I had to sit in as she ain't 18). She was nervous, but the two guys interviewing were pretty laid back. I mentioned that I knew John, Jack, and Dennis, which probably put her over the top... Toughest part will be getting her hours in before she is certified to make runs with crew, but she seems determined to be a part of 47. Youngest princess tagged along, and somehow wound up in the driver's seat of the their brand new half-million dollar Pierce. I think I have an adrenaline junkie in the making.
88 - J-J says that once she gets her EMT certification, she would be happy to "stage" at the end of your driveway whenever you build.
Blueberry - I had forgot all about Little E in the WRANGLER 3 last night. Hope they replay the race.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear and sunny 56 degrees. Going up to a sunny 82 today.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of chores to do and a project to finish. Tonite is the Nascar race to watch. I am also enjoying the John Wayne movie weekend.
Junior did it. #3 won the Nationwide series race from Daytona. That is his first win in a long while. His fans were happy.
Dining car is here and it's the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
It is cool and clear, a beautiful evening here in Taxachusetts. Got done watching the History Channel and a piece on the War of 1812. John Wayne movies on tap on AMC right now. Maureen O'Hara was an attractive woman..
I'm out of gas. This mowing, bagging, trimming, etc. all in one shot is ok when it is cooler. But when it is hot, it can wear me down, even with breaks. Once I get going I don't want to stop. Split it up? Every time I do it seems rain screws things up. Perhaps that is the ticket to my getting some decent rainfall.
I didn't mean to kick off the holiday week on a downer for everyone with my post this morning. I just think drivers are far too distracted. Multi-tasking is best done when one is not driving a two ton (or greater) weapon, risking the safety and the lives of others. Folks talking on cell phones are the worst. With some, it appears their reflexes are operating at less than 50% and their sense of their surroundings even worse. I really get lit up driving in my car with my wife and grandchildren in tow and having to contend with their inattentiveness. Some are totally oblivious, can't hold a lane, speed up and slow down, and then make irrational moves when they suddenly realize they need to make an exit or a turn. It's not just discourteous, it's dangerous. Hand held is still legal in MA and texting has not been outlawed. Hand held was already illegal 13 years ago when I was in the UK!!!!
SJ......my prayers for your sister. A senseless, needless tragedy. You hit the nail on the head. The scales of justice can never be balanced; and the sentencing is a travesty relative to the impact of the crime, an veritable insult to those left behind.
Good night all.
Made it to the cabin. Family is here. Looking to be a nice weekend. Hope everyone has a nice holiday.

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,
Changing the fuel pump in my Son's truck went pretty smooth. We had to make a new line from the pump to the carb.
We just got back from the firehouse. We had a mutual aid for a house fire this afternoon. The home owner thought that he would burn the weeds around his house with a torch. He did not realize that he set the rear porch/deck on fire until he was all done and in the house. He started in the back and it was too late when he realized his house was on fire. My son and I had a quick dinner and we headed back to prep the engines and trucks for parades Saturday and Sunday.
Prayers and thoughts to all in need.
Have a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend.
I had a great Friday with the family. I did not have to work so my 9-month pregnant wife was able to sleep in and I woke up with the kids. We relaxed around the house for most of the morning, but I was able to shape some foam for an incline on our layout. This evening we enjoyed a round of miniature golf.
CNW - I have no clue when it comes to fishing either. My son loves it and thankfully his one grandfather is an avid angler.
My son did not ask for any train items for his birthday this year. I think he will start asking for them again once the layout is finished.
Joe
Evening all
Just got in this evening from Camp Dearborne in Michigan. We had a great time and the weather was perfect for camping. I will try and catch up.
Good Evening
sunny and 70s all day.
The "pot" is quiet today. I guess that means everyone is out and about as they say.
Banilla is ready for the thingy so swing by here for me...S.J.
Navyjack ... will do buddy ... I'll dedicate one of my rockets to you as I fire it off .... plus the fireworks we go to every year near my son's announces on the pa system ... " prayers for all our boys fighting for us and all the veterans of the past still with us " and dedicates the whole thing to active duty and vets . Yea some areas remember what it's all about and not booze and bar-b-ques .
Good Afternoon, Did early case and then met family at mall for Chick Fil-A. Then came home to get things ready for tonight with kids and son's Birthday party. We are having a couple over with their two children. Our kids love each other and makes for a nice time.
Have to go pick up the cake, so I had better get going.
Hudson, yeah, it was a very tragic time, but some good has come of it. Perhaps the knowledge gained has kept some others alive. If you ever want to read a great book on structural collapse, Vincent "Vinny" Dunn, from FDNY had a great one. Been a long time since I was on, but I am sure the information is still around. I remember FDNY was going to man our stations for the funerals, but instead, we elected to have the surrounding mutual aid departments cover.
Sun and 70s today
Jack I feel your pain, I lost my sister due to a drunk driver, the judge gave her five years. And yet if some old guy like me hugs a little girl and she crys foul its twenty years. Don't make sense. It's a beautiful morning so we went for a walk and let granny enjoy the flower gardens. She's still amazed at all the bright colors she has been missing. No plans for the holiday but I'm thinking at least one of the kids will remember us for a cook out, but then.
For those of you going away stay safe and have fun...S.J.
EDIT don't misunderstand the above, I have no sympathy for a pervert, ship them off to jail forever, I'm just saying the scale doesn't seem balanced.
fifedog .................Haircut, trip to bank, and #2 princess has her EMT interview at 5.

They grow up way too fast. It seems like one day they are crawling and before you know it they are doing something as noteworthy as. Makes parenthood worth every worry, setback, and sorrow along the way. You must be beaming with pride this morning. BTW.....do they know they will be interviewing royalty?
Jack.
